This used to be my favorite restaurant. However, over the course of a year it has gone a little downhill. They used to have this delicious salmon dish that has always been on the menu, but removed it in place of a weird thai-salmon dish. The salmon with jumbo crab is just glorified pad thai which is not really conveyed in the menu. The noodles come with "spinach" but there was only 2 pieces of spinach on my plate. Having risen the prices, I would expect this new dish to be on the same level as the previous one, but it honestly feels like someone just shoved together salmon with pad thai which in my opinion do not belong together. A $40 dish with poorly made noodles and an absurdly low amount of crab has lowered my opinion of this restaurant. Normally, the service here is phenomenal. However, on our last few visits, it has been slow, rude, and overall displeasing. Seating guests at a table that has not been fully reset, waiting 10-15 minutes to receive waters (while the bread and appetizers have already come out), and servers clearly being stretched thin across the restaurant is not an experience I would expect of a restaurant of this price. The only redeeming quality of our last visit is the crab and spinach dip which was delicious. This place knows how to cook seafood, but they have an issue with knowing what their consumer base wants and serving them. Staff were very nice but it seemed very hectic the entire time we were there. Service was slow and the food wasn't as great as it has been in the past. No big issues until we ordered a crème brûlée and it was watered down, chunky, and eggy-tasting. Very off putting and will more than likely choose to eat somewhere else in the future. read more

We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn that is located right next door to Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. I was visiting with a coworker. We were sat at a table, then ignored by the wait staff for approximately 20 minutes. A manager came by to check on us - we advised how long we had been waiting. The manager apologized and sent a server order to take care of us. They also comped our appetizer - a dozen raw oysters. I ordered their Gumbo (sans the rice). The raw oysters were delicious and outstanding. The Gumbo was so-so - not bad, just not the all-star Gumbo I was hoping for. Once we had a server - service was good. I'd come here again! Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is akin to a higher end Red Lobster. That's not a dig, just an observation. Food: Seafood platter has a little of everything - shrimp, oysters, crawfish, crab cake, etc., sitting on top of a small mountain of fries. The Redfish Pontchartrain was perfectly cooked and seasoned with a light lemon sauce, served with dirty rice. The praline bread pudding was served with a giant scoop of butter ice cream and a side of rum cream sauce. Service: Our waitress was lovely. She refilled drinks like a ninja, kept checking in on us, and even comped us dessert as first time customers. Food came out in decent time. Note: We were there on a Tuesday evening, around 7:30pm. Cost: Our two entrees notes above, a side of vegetable, and two ice teas ran us over $100, so it's not a cheap date, but there's loads of food. Overall: Plenty of parking options with a well lit overflow lot adjacent to the restaurant. Large open space inside, with clean restrooms. They take cards. Hot tip: Eat at the bar during happy hour from 3pm-6pm. You'll get very decently priced items that are delicious - boiled shrimp, the fondeaux (filled with mushrooms, spinach, shrimp and crawfish), fried alligator, fried shrimp, poboys, and calamari to name a few - all under $10 each. read more

I ordered a curbside order from this restaurant. After I texted my parking space I waited for 30 minutes in my car before I decided to go inside to check on my order. My order was sitting on a counter by the door. I asked the waitress how long it had been sitting there and she said 10 minutes??? Keep in mind that this was an oyster poboy which had been getting cold and soggy. They offered me a crème brûlée and I said ok. I waited another 15 minutes for that. When I got home it was cold and soggy. The fries were stone cold. The sauce was separated. Horrible. The only reason this is not a 1 star review is they gave me a 50$ gift certificate when I said I would never come there again. Came here because our original dinner plans did not pan out and got to say we were treated very well. Our server Maxwell was great and very attentive to our needs and really gave top notch service! Food is what you expect here at pappadeaux, it's always a solid choice ( a little salty) but always solid never any complaints on the food. Service however this time around was amazing! Again Maxwell you get the 5 stars for the service. I believe Pappadeaux is a must-try wherever you go! My friend and I enjoyed a nice delicious dinner in Austin, TX, and our waiter was superb. Pappadeaux is a special treat. It's been a while since I've been here, and the first time at this new location. It's better than the location on 35. Better parking, easier access, different ambiance. It's super loud, though. I won a contest at work, so my prize was dinner here. Pescatarian heaven! There was a group of us. We ordered crab cakes (divine) & alligator (not a fan) to share. I had to try the alligator just to say I tried it. Everyone else loved it, so don't use me as your judge. Everyone ordered a different entree. All were pleased. I had one of those "omg this is so good" repeated over and over kind of meals. I ordered the crispy salmon with a ginger glaze. They recommend medium rare, I chose medium. It was perfect. The scallop was delicious, my boss and VP each received one of my shrimp. The baked potato was also perfect. The only real disappointment was dessert. The cheesecake my colleague ordered, was amazing. My crime brûlée - not so much. The crunchy topping was a little too burnt, so it wasn't very good. Service at Pappadeaux is always great. I loved the limited time special for $9.95. Dozen Blue Point Oysters! Such a great deal and the oysters are delicious. Grilled lamb chops come medium rare, but ordered them medium well. They tasted great did not really care for the sauce it came it though. Crab finger dinner, I've gotten the appetizer before and the entree version comes with soo much more crab fingers! These are amazing! Fried shrimp and tender dinner also great. I love the breading they use for the shrimp and the chicken tenders. Will have to reccomend getting a side of their pappadeaux sauce on the side, it's great to dip almost everything in! I believe that was the name it's a popular drink I've been told.... This place has a posh and welcoming interior complete with burnished gold tin ceilings and rich mahogany. All of the servers wear classic black vests and carry themselves professionally. You walk in and there is an immediate expectation of "fine dining," not just another chain restaurant, and the prices reflect that. Pappadeaux almost meets that expectation. For example I had the crawfish etouffee which was excellent, only beaten out by the same dish made by a literal fine dining New Orleans chef friend of mine. Our server was very knowledgeable and personable, but he seemingly ignored our table for long periods of time. He also knocked the hot melted butter warmer from the king crab legs onto my hand when clearing the table, that was unfortunate. Overall, I would return if I was craving some New Orleans comfort food while in Austin, or any other non-Louisiana location for that matter. read more

Had dinner last night and our food was delicious. Had a dozen blue oyster for our appetizer and it tasted so fresh and very clean. I had the sample platter which included fried catfish, crawfish and shrimp, served with French fries. The fish was so flakey a Meal comes with complimentary French bread and whipped butter. Our waiter was awesome, super friendly, very attentive and personable. 10/25/19 Stopped by for dinner, this time we sat at the bar. We ordered a dozen blue oysters. They came out fast and tasted so fresh just like the last time. In matter of fact it was soo good, we ended up ordering a second one after we finished our dinner. Our waiter, Dwayne, was friendly and efficient, bring drink refills before they were requested. We had mozzarella bites and freshly baked bread with whipped butter - it was hard not to eat the whole loaf! My Pappa's Greek salad was good but I thought a bit light on the shrimp (there were 3) and feta for the price ($15.95). Even without the dressing which was served on the side at my request, the greens had a light lemony dressing so I didn't feel the need to add much more. Dropped $90 on take out for 5 items and this is what I get. Too much of a hassle to check because the new boxes are cardboard. On top of each other. Am I supposed to get out the car and layout the order on the passenger seat? How hard is it for the people sending out the orders to confirm if everything is acceptable and there? Prices is not an issue, but when my order is screwed up, it's annoying and portions went skimpy. Not acceptable, places like to screw over customers that are doing take out and go below the bare minimum. It seem like every time I tip in a to go order the order is messed up. Also one item was missing and one of the modified items was served un modified. Just lost a paying customer at this location. read more

We came here for HH and it was great! Our party was kind of large so we pulled some tables together and served ourselves. The bartenders were glad to help us get food out to the bar and we picked up the food for ourselves. Service was great and the food was even better. Their fried alligator was super moist. The cheese fondue was amazing! We basically tried everything on their HH menu and they were all bomb. Their alcoholic drinks were really yummy, too. A bit on the pricey her side but WELL WORTH IT! Definitely try the oysters if you had never had oysters before. How did they allow another party take my reservation and change the number in my party. I was told another person had my same name. There is no way this could have happened. Went on Mother's Day and had perfect service and delicious food. We walked right up and were able to be seated at a tiny 2 seater booth near the bar. Our waiter Crashawn was really fantastic and on top of it. Seafood fondue was the best I've had in a while Ahi tuna w crab meat special was SO great. Mom had the crab cakes and cheesecake. I was on the search for some delicious seafood and we ended up checking out this location out. 1. Plenty of parking spaces (no need to try circle around or stress about parking) 2. Front patio area with a fountain and comfy outdoor seats. I am not sure if it was just closed, but the outdoor area was just used for diners waiting for their table. It was a nice stress free wait since it was a nice day outdoors. 3. Music playing outside 4. Get a text when you're table is ready This restaurant is part of a chain so the food is consistent and good. Same quality I would expect of the other locations. Came here for Father's Day Lunch, it was very crowded but there was plenty of waiting space for everyone, there was bar tops in the bar and there was the patio that also had an outdoor bar. The wait was not too bad. When we got seated there were a bunch of open tables, but I assume it was kept empty because the kitchen might have been over worked. The menus were awfully dirty, it looked like someone might of had their entire meal over the menu and it was never cleaned. It was quite gross to start off with. The bread is delicious it was warm and slightly toasty. We ordered the boudin and the size of this dish was enough for 4 people to share. The food was hit or miss, depending on the dish you got. But all the entrees are giant. We all ordered from the Lunch menu option, but one of the plates was mistakenly charged for the dinner plate so I'm not sure if it was the actual dinner plate that we received. There is so much food that you can share an entree between two people. I had the pasta and it wasn't very good, it was very bland and the chicken was super dry. The crawfish combination was good however. The fried catfish was good, the amount of french fries you get is overwhelming. The french fries were a little soaked in oil. The server was great she was super nice and kept us all refilled. The food however did take a long time, it took about 45 minutes, much longer than our wait to get a table. Some of the dishes were cold due to the wait. There is plenty of parking since the restaurant next door doesn't actually exist. I'm not sure if I would return at this time or recommend it. So I'll start by saying this was my first experience at a Pappadeaux restaurant period. I didn't have any expectations going into it, other than knowing they served seafood. My friend had a birthday party with a party of 10 people total. She had called a week before to ask for reservations for 10 people, but never received any confirmation text message the day before the gathering. When she called to again confirm the reservation, it began a whole ride of miscommunication and horrible service. When they arrived at the restaurant, they weren't seated until at least 20 minutes after she had asked for the reservation to be ready. Then, as people started to arrive for the dinner, the drink orders were the slowest I've ever seen. One of the guests did not get her drink from the bar until 45 minutes+ after sje ordered. I arrived later, placed a drink order, and received it after 10 minutes. 30 minutes after I had gotten my drink, she still had not gotten hers. Then throughout the night, there were multiple situations where the waitress wouldn't come by to check on us, so we had dirty plates piling on top of each other with little room to organize our appetizers, and on top of that, we had kids at the table. At one point we had suggested that the waitress bring a tray over so we could help her pile on the plates that needed to be sent back to the kitchen. She left the tray next to our table for plates to continue piling & piling up. It was an eyesore to basically look at trash most of the night sitting next to you. Our food did take a little while to come out, and, despite her seemingly detailed notes, there were orders that were incorrect. She seem to have somewhat of an attitude when we would ask her for things (i.e. a straw), and she would toss it on the table in front of us, instead of handing it to us.. when she would ask questions to clarify the order details, and whose orders were on which checks, it took over 40 minutes to correctly receive the right checks for each guest. I noticed the manager (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) walking around to the neighboring tables around us and checking on the quality of their service. Not one time did he come to our table and ask us about ours. At this point, we had asked him once before if there was a way to turn down the temperature due to it being extremely humid in the restaurant, but his answer was very short, saying that the AC was at max capacity. Needless to say, the issue with separating the checks and making sure everyone's orders were correct was the last straw. When we brought the issues to the managers attention, he seemed like he was gaslighting us, saying that "according to policies regarding reservations, we can only have groups of 10 at most," but the party was only 10 people. So we corrected him about this, and mention the fact that he had checked on every other table in the restaurant aside from ours. His reasoning was that with large parties he doesn't want to get in the way or interrupt the socializing. We again called him out for this and reminded him that, especially big parties should be checked on every now and then, as opposed to none due to the possibility of multiple mistakes happening. And in our case most everything went wrong. This was my first experience at a Pappadeaux's, but it seemed like any time we brought up legitimate examples of poor customer service, it was blamed on different excuses. we had spent almost 4 hours inside the restaurant total ( from 6:30p-10p). That is a ridiculous amount of time for miscommunications and multiple attempts at correcting the issues. Unfortunately, if this is how they choose to run their business, I will not be back, nor will I recommend them to others. The food was mid. Really not worth pricing in my opinion, but I heard the Pappadeaux's off I-35 was better, so I might go and give them a try. read more

Pappadeaux was a wonderful surprise! So impressed with our curbside takeout order this evening. Delicious food, great packaging, efficient service! Ordered online (super easy). Curbside pickup was the most efficient of any restaurant (and we do a lot of curbside). Delightful server brought it out to the car ASAP. I was surprised at the higher than expected prices when ordering but the price turned out to be justified based on the quality of the food. See attached pics. We'll definitely return! read more

The food at Pappadeaux's is always consistently good. However, this one seems to struggle with staffing. Pappa's is well known for exemplary service and food for decades....it's been one of our favorites for more than 40 years. The Research restaurant had great food, no complaints, but the AC was out in the main dining area and apparently it's been out for awhile. Nothing worse than coming in from the 105 degrees to sit down for a pricey meal and it's 83 degrees in the restaurant This restaurant may be struggling but it will only get worse if it can't get the AC fixed. Air conditioning is a good place to invest for a Texas restaurant. read more
