Cappuccino was very tasty. So this was a much better visit than in the past when they were out of chocolate stuff. Still 4 stars because they were out of skim and so it took a while to make my coffee. But overall this was a great experience and I'll be back - and if they're out of the chocolate Le signature, I'll just get coffee! And one person who helped me was extremely friendly and welcoming. A bit disappointing. Parfais Paris located in the upscale 'Sky Deck' in Carmel Valley/Del Mar Heights area and is a walk-up counter with tables and chairs around it. Went for a Valentine's Day lunch treat with a family member. They offer a variety of sandwiches, quiche, cakes, baked goods, macarons, crêpes and fancy beverages at know-how-to-charge prices. They even expect to be tipped for calling your name so you can grab your food. I dislike that tipping trend. Unfortunately, my mom's quiche that came with a 'salad' (Nothing but lettuce leaves) did not look appetizing and she said the frozen ones she buys at the store are better. All dishware was disposable. :( The cakes and baked goods looked delicious, but we paid $10.50 for a crème brûlée -- more the price I would expect to pay in a fine dining restaurant, not a walk up counter in a food hall. They torched the top, but underneath it was cold. :( Service was OK. Restrooms located at the back of the food hall. At first glance, the desserts look so scrumptious. So I ordered the French pudding and I was very disappointed. It was so dry and hard. It seemed like it was sitting there for a while. I was thinking that it would be softer and moist. I was not satisfied with what I chose for an $11 dessert. I should have gotten the crepes instead. Even though I was disappointed, I took it home because it would have been a waste. I added some almond milk to the French pudding and warmed it up in the microwave. It tasted so much better. This little French bakery is very pretty and appealing when you first come up the stairs or escalator and the first eatery to greet you amongst all the others around. After dinner, I was craving something sweet and I initially wanted to go to Handel's for ice cream but the line was insanely long... So I substituted a pear tart from Le Parfait. It was $10!!! The couple whom I was with decided not to cave in to their sweet tooth due to sticker shock. Having worked at a French bakery when I was younger, I imagined the desserts would be decadent. Unfortunately, I was dead wrong and out $10. The tart was very pretty but there wasn't any flavor and it was dry, almost like it was old. I'm sure it was not but it was just less than in flavor. Rather, lack of flavor. Pear tatin used to be one of my favorite desserts so I was hoping this would live up to the memory. Again, it was kind of sweet but the crust wasn't crunchy it was just that stale, brittle consistency and it didn't have any flavor either. It wasn't buttery or creamy tasting. The pear part of the dessert was kind of sweet but again, no flavor. The three of us split it and left a bite to be thrown out because it was less than meh. I rated this 2 stars although flavor is only one or less than one. But the presentation and the shop itself is very cute. But the pricing, ridiculous, for a flavorless dessert. We were so very disappointed, but my friends were ecstatic they did not put out the money for a little piece of tasteless pastry. If you want to shell out that type of money for something pretty without flavor, then it's the place to go. The Pudding is meant to be warmed and was like a bread pudding made with something similar to a croissant! It was definitely different in a good way, but not something I would get again. I really enjoyed the Banana Toffee cake, it mimicked a banana pudding but more elevated! I definitely recommend it! Totally disappointing. Coffee was dreadful. They say they are open online later than they are which was quite disappointing because we came from solana beach. At first they said they couldn't take us but then the girls were kind and professional and decided to make us the last customers of the day. I was so excited because im french and the desserts seemed amazing. They were not. Did i say coffee was gross?? Mousse was ok but the top part was full of sweet caramel. I loved everything about Le Parfait before but I LOVE them even more for adding that extra special touch to my son's birthday party. Le Parfait provided a custom macaron tower for my son's 5th birthday and they did not disappoint! You get to choose your flavors (went with Oreo, vanilla, salted caramel and mocha for a very elegant neutral look) and they display it on a clear tower for all to admire. I went with the 84 count tower, thinking it would be too much. NO! It was not enough! The macarons were a HIT with both kids and adults, that we only had a handful left to take home (probably for the best, though). Next time we'll have to do the 216-count tower! If you haven't yet been, stop in for a sweet treat, a sandwich or a drink at Le Parfait, located conveniently at the entry of the Sky Deck in Del Mar Highlands. We stopped by for dessert after dinner. It's in the front middle of the Sky Deck food court. There's several tables surrounding the food stand but it can get busy during peak dinner hours. We had a Nutella fruit crepe, plain croissant, and chocolate almond croissant. The crepe came out within minutes, hot and gooey. Both croissants were large, flaky, and tasty. A perfect way to end the night! The young woman helping us was kind and prompt. I felt the croissants ($4.50-5.50) and crepes ($8-8.50) were reasonable priced. The affogato wasn't as enjoyable of an experience as it was served in a paper cup. The same for the coffee drinks as we were dining in, and part of the ambiance of being at a French cafe is using a cup and saucer with a metal spoon. The gelato was good though. The crepe was freshly made but the caramel used in it was sickly sweet and tasted of chemicals rather than of true caramel sauce. We enjoyed the vanilla bean cream filled pasture we got and the crookie was surprisingly good, although we both agreed we would not seek a crookie out again most likely.
