My team and I went here today for lunch to host clients. To start off, I never received a menu out of the entire table of 10. I was told I would receive a menu and no one ever came back to give me one. Upon ordering after being walked past multiple times, the hostess tried to take the menu from my colleague not noticing that i myself needed a menu to read my order from. So flustered my colleague and I forgot to order drinks and finally after flagging the hostess down to order a drink she responds "Everyone ordered drinks" though half of us at the table did not do so. The food was alright, the ambiance was very loud since it seems popular for large groups but the service was very poor. Parm is the scaled down and more casual sister restaurant to the legendary Carbone. While the atmosphere is much more casual and selections of wine and desserts less extensive, Parm offers a similar cuisine at a fraction of the price. On this visit, I ordered the Fresh Mozzerella and Bread, Arugula Salad, Chicken Parm with Rigatone Carbone, Penne Scampi, and Fusili Bolognese. The mozzerella and bread were decent and the arugula salad was a nice primer for the main course and pasta. Every pasta was decently portioned and cooked al dente. The flavor profile was pretty similar to Carbone and for 3/5 the price of what you would pay for a pasta dish at Carbone, it is quite a bargain. Parm also serves Italian American favorites like the chicken parm or meatball sandwiches for the more casual diner. If you're unable to get a reservation at Carbone, but still looking for good pasta and at a more reasonable price, Parm is the way to go! read more

Parm was decent. The diner style set up, initially intimidated me. (I got an unjustified dislike for diners.) But the experience was nice. I decided not to go overboard and just ordered the chicken. Chicken was SO DELICIOUS! Certainly on the pricy side but I really enjoyed the food. I do want to try more from the menu. The chicken parm looks really good. So that's next on the list. We live a few blocks away from this location. We rarely go in. Once in a while we get takeout. But not that often. The infrequency is for similar reasons. The service is just not great. In the restaurant, we feel neglected. With takeout, they have a track record for getting orders wrong. Last night we went to the restaurant for a family member's birthday and because we had a yearning for Parm's eggplant parmigiana, which is VERY good. Even though it was a Thursday night between Christmas and New Year's, we were only three people, and we were dining on the early side, we made a reservation. But it didn't matter. In two respects. The restaurant was not that busy- a third of the tables were empty. And they still made us wait 15 minutes. Worse- there was no one to greet us. We were waiting for a while before someone finally acknowledged our presence. By that point, three other tables were waiting too. Finally, we were seated. The waiter came over and took our drink order. A couple of minutes later, we were ordering. By then, we certainly knew what we wanted. We ordered three appetizers and three entrees. One of the appetizers was the Caesar Salad with Chicken. The salad was brought with no dressing. Not a salad with minimal dressing. NO dressing. Fine- it happens. But then we sat waiting for a server to appear SOMEWHERE on the dining room floor so we could ask for the dressing. That took a while. Once we were finally eating the salad, we realized the chicken was not fully cooked- it was pink in the middle. Again, we couldn't find a server to whom we could make a request to bring the chicken back to the kitchen. Halfway through our appetizers, a different server brought our entrees and hurriedly shoved them onto the table, despite the fact that we were not ready. Aside from the undercooked chicken on the salad, the food was pretty good. This restaurant mostly fails with service. Not once did a server check on us. Not once did I see a manager walk the floor and look around. That would have helped too. The crowd at this restaurant has changed. It used to be an after work crowd- kind of hip and trendy and skewing young. But last night the few tables that were taken were filled with families with young children that were running around, climbing over the banquettes, etc. Sigh. It was fine. It just could have been so much better. And the "better" is totally within their control. read more

We came to parm with high expectations since we had heard the Spicy rigatoni was an exact dupe for Carbone's (I believe both restaurants have the same owner) but we were disappointed. The pasta sauce was clumpy and had little flavor beyond a standard marinara sauce. Instead of the rich creamy orange sauce we were expecting, we got this lukewarm, half congealed covering over mediocre pasta. I came to Parm for a late lunch and had a pretty good experience here. It's really spacious inside with plenty of seating. I wanted to sit outside since it was a nice day but apparently it was too late in the day because they didn't have any staff members available for the outdoor seats so I ended up being seated inside. Since it wasn't busy, it made it a good spot for casual conversations. The staff was nice and the food came fairly quick. The menu doesn't have that many options so it makes it easier to decide what to get. I started with the calamari as an appetizer and found it to be nice and crispy. It was a smaller than average portion and came with fried peppers as well. For an entree, I chose the chicken parm dinner. It was a really big portion with 3 small chicken cutlets that were topped with a big slab of mozzarella each. It also came with pasta but the pasta was underwhelming and pretty bland. The chicken cutlets were very good. I especially enjoyed how the end pieces were still kind of crispy. Overall, it was a pretty good meal, especially if you have trouble deciding what to order because there's less menu options. read more

We ordered spicy rotini (minus the spice), chicken parm and meatball parm. Everything was very good and consistent with their other location. Great day to come because the city is calmer and quieter on a Sunday and this location is in battery park city, connected to Brookfield place so a fun place to explore after dinner. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was service. Unfortunately, our server kept forgetting to bring our drinks, we kept having to get her attention and she would check on other tables prior to getting to us when we called for her attention. I am surprised by the rating this place has on here. My husband and I dined here yesterday and the food and service was phenomenal!! The Calamari was my favorite. It had a twist with peppers and it was delicious! Hubby tried the pizza roll app. He liked them. For my meal I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were the best I have had out to eat! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was light and delicious. Hubby got the rigatoni vodka sauce. It was spicy which was delicious. He paired it with chicken. Hmm.. not sure why Parm only has 3 stars right now, but this place is DELICIOUS! The Chicken Parm Hero is really good, but I don't personally prefer sesame seed buns. But the balance of the cheese, chicken, and sauce is amazing. The middle part of the hero is so good that I can easily look past the sesame seeds. Especially when I'm eating it with a side of the fries or mozzarella sticks. I don't typically care for mozzarella sticks, but these were one of the best I've ever had - the cheese is so fresh, the breading is flavored, and the sauce is a great complement to it all. And the Italian fries. Ugh.. sooo good! The slender fries with their seasoning is so freaking good. As a ketchup lover, it means a lot for me to say that these fries are so good that they don't even need ketchup! And the ice cream cakes - they're THREE flavors tall! And the toppings that come with the cake are so extra but make it that much more fun and enjoyable to eat. I'm salivating just writing this review. I'm going to have to return soon to try the pasta. But how do I not keep getting a parm sandwich from a place called "Parm"?! As for the drinks they were perfect, unlike the weak drinks I usually experience in places. To top the moment off, I got the chicken parm sandwich which was good. The Mariana sauce here is perfect , savory, a little sweet and not acidic. I'm particular with chicken parm, I usually only like chicken parm sandwiches that are toasted and my stomach knows well that the sauce has to be good and the chicken cutlet has to sliced so it's not too thin but not thick. When it comes to why I like the bread toasted, it's first because I hate soggy bread and second because I like the bread warm as well. With that said, surprisingly this sesame bread was made so well that although it was not toasted the bread was firm, not dry and in perfect ratio with the chicken parm, fresh mozzarella and basil leaf ! read more

I came with relatively low expectations, as I had a negative experience on their UWS location a few years back. Came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon and had a really nice meal. We opted to split the rigatoni, then each got a chicken parm sandwich. The rigatoni was really damn good. Is it as good as Carbone's? No, but its sure as hell cheaper and was still damn delicious. The chicken parm sandwiches were also pretty good. My only real gripe is that I found the chicken cutlet to be a little chewy, not too badly but a bit more than I'd like. The place was basically empty but the service was perfect, and it was a really pleasant meal and overall experience. Service was piecemeal, they seemed to be in the middle of transitioning out of lunch, brought out the salad, no silverware, overcooked mushy spaghetti followed, i ate 4 twirls of it and the meatballs. I told the bartender the spaghetti was overcooked when he asked me how everything was, and he genuinely cared. Manager gave me a 25.00 comp card. I paid for the coke and salad and tipped 20 %, but I'm dropping them a star because that's 2 crappy experiences in a row, comped or not. Come on PARM BATTERY PARK do better!
