Had a great experience here!! We got a matcha and a regular latte. Our waiter was super attentive and fixed my latte art just because he wanted it to look perfect (it was yummy either way). I got the pretzel breakfast sandwich and my cousin got the smoked salmon on toast instead of a bagel - both were yummy (forgot to take pics). Loved the vibes, food, and service. As a big fan of State Street Coffee, I was excited to check out Parterre. I went before a concert at the Majestic, which I would highly recommend, but it's also a great place for a typical coffee shop visit or dinner. - Atmosphere: Parterre is in the bottom of an office building downtown. It's bright with large windows and a mix of a bar and coffee shop feel. - Service: We had such great service at Parterre! Our waiter answered our many questions and even gave us a coupon for our return visit! - Food/Drink: We split the kimchi fries and sliders, which were both delicious. I would definitely return again for the food, but the drinks were even better! They have a great selection of classic and coffee cocktails. We tried the espresso martini and since they're a coffee shop with decaf espresso, they were able to do the espresso martini decaf, which I much appreciated. You may have to fight your way through traffic and/ or finding a parking spot when visiting Parterre, but it's 100% worth visiting for the open glass windows, lavish yet comfortable seating, easygoing staff, tasty beverages, and calm environment. I came in on a Monday afternoon and enjoyed a decaf oat milk cortado with lavender while reading a chapter of my book in the quietness of the cafe. While the cortado had a pleasant burst of flavor to it, I especially appreciated the extra touches to the set up like a tiny glass of topo on the side. So I live in the building this restaurant is at. I Placed a to go order. Mind you I order the same exact thing weekly. I opened my order and asked y are there only 5 mini sizes of potatoes in my order that the portion is usually a lot more. I went there for a yogurt, it took an hour for them to get me it. Then the other people joining me had to take another 30 minutes for them to make eggs and chicken. The waitress also wouldn't give me any good excuse for why it took forever. I asked if we could get a discount or free food for all the bs, she gave us a 15% tip. I ended up paying $10 for a discounted yogurt. My other friend also had an allergy to eggs and the waitress told him that there were no eggs in some biscuits he ordered. It was only until we asked the manager to which he said there were and he could've had an allergic reaction. The whole place was really just not great especially since it's in a fancy hotel. First off I'm a restaurant owner so I'm very familiar with kitchen closing times. So when you say the kitchen closes at 2:30 make sure it closes at 2:30. You're open til 3pm for brunch but because you're lazy and don't want to take any more orders or get out of work early because it's Sunday funday you tell your repeat customers the kitchen is closed at 2:22? Doesn't make since. I for sure wouldn't want people working for me that's causing me to lose money. Owners are in this business to make money not be robbed by the people we're paying because I'm sure they get paid regardless of whether the restaurant makes money or not. So I walk in and ask the bartender hey can I sit here and order some breakfast real quick. His reply "I'm sorry man the kitchen closes at 2:30 I'm not paying attention to the time so as I walking out I see my waiter who waits on me normally and he say yeah man we close the kitchen at 230 on the weekends. So I'm like cool thanks I'll come back earlier next weekend. Something tell me look at my watch it's 2:27 now so I go back in and tell the same bartender hey man it's not even 230 yet. He says yeah man I'm sorry the kitchen already started breaking everything down. Like wtf seriously dude?
