Great Italian specialty shop with plenty of fresh antipast! Highly recommend the cheese raviolis as well!

They actually have a good product. Been going there quite sometime whenever i work around there. Until few days ago (always order same exact sandwich) i usually have my sandwich with basil, the gentlemen there refuse to do so IDK what he's reason and i ask for pesto he cant give it to me on the sandwich. Wow- Does a sandwich get much better? Fresh NY Italian bread or a nice soft Ciabatta. I opted for a special imported salami called Golfetta which is actually low fat but has the softness of a high quality Prosciutto. I added fresh mozzarella and broccoli rape to the sandwich. Find a better Italian sandwich anywhere and let me know!! Took home a fresh mozz as well and it was glorious. They also have dry aged steaks in the middle counter which I've had in the past and are delicious and a decent price ! I stopped into Pastosa on Richmond Ave. the other night after arriving early to the area for a party. I have always passed by the Howard Beach location, but never tried their products. The store is fairly large, with a deli section, fresh pasta in both dry and frozen packages, a big cheese selection and other vegetables and cookies. I bought two packages of tortellini, two packages of gnocchi and two packages of angel hair pasta. I've only used one tortellini and one gnocchi so far, but both have been very good. The difference in taste is noticeable, and the prices for everything was good. read more

Let me start off by saying I only came to this location for one thing which they had for me in the cheese department. I think of all the Pastosa locations this the smallest and probably the oldest on Staten Island but I am not 100% on that one. What I found odd while browsing the store is I couldn't find any jarred sauce or even any frozen sauces?! Everything else but that. Hmm. The deli department looked well stocked, fresh, and clean. I have been coming here since I was a little girl with my parents. Food is always fresh and the staff very accommodating. Even during this Covid-19 pandemic I do not feel rushed when at the deli counter or waiting on line. The ABSOLUTE worst service. During COVID, I wanted to just be efficient and place an order for my family (6 wraps) -- this nasty uneducated human of a girl answers and says they don't do pick-up. We said ok, how about I come in and order them - her response is "we have pre-made wraps on our counter." So, you won't accommodate a sandwich order? I went to this location Saturday, March 21, 2020 in the middle of the coronavirus Pandemic went there with my mask and gloves as all New Yorkers are directed to do. I went in there to buy couple of items. I went to the register. woman at the register was not wearing gloves not wearing a mask. I told her this is serious business you should be wearing gloves and proper protection especially since you're handling food . she gave me a snide answer. Had an attitude. This location is not doing the right things to protect customers . it's ridiculous that people are not taking this seriously. Especially food businesses. The owner needs to wake up or face fines. Most unprofessional place Of business... the 2 woman who work in the back both with black hair were screaming at an older man. Then after I place my order only to see them acting like insecure woman pointing at me, whispering and giggling. Don't know why they would do that there old woman. I would just like to say the customer service is beyond amazing. Yesterday I accidentally spilled a quart of vodka sauce while standing in line. I felt terrible and it literally went all over my feet and the floor. The cashier took the time to give me paper towels to clean myself and even stopped what she was doing to spray my sneakers so they would not stain. She really made a bad situation better. Thank you! Pastosa's gluten free section is amazing! They have such a wide variety of items to choose from. They carry the brand "My Dad's Cookies," which are the best gluten free cookies I've ever had! They also have a large selection of GF pasta. Being gluten free has been a struggle, but Pastosa makes it easy to manage my food allergies while still eating good! read more

This is my go-to salumeria whenever I'm in Staten Island. Fantastic service, great selection, as well as delicious meats, breads, and dessert. I'm rarely disappointed when I leave this Pastosa, and I don't even mind the fact that they butcher my name-no pun intended. Love this store. There are three on Staten island but I love this one the best. Lot's of imported food/drinks and super friendly people. The Italian music playing is a nice touch. Their ravioli is always a big hit with my family. So many different kinds of olives and cheeses to choose from, I wish they had a sample bar :) Prices are sometimes a little higher than average but you get what you pay for and you don't mind paying a little more. read more

Wow - soooooooooooooo happy I found this place!! My boyfriend is Italian and of course, loves Italian food! Since I can't cook like his mother, she told me to check this place out. I bought vodka sauce, manicotti, and stuffed shells and OMG - it was sooo good and EASY to prepare! My boyfriend loved it too! The prices are very reasonable - sauces are less expensive than top chain grocery stores although the quantity is less - but I was only cooking for two so it was portioned nicely for me. He loved the manicotti and I loved the stuffed shells. Now I don't have to stress about making the sauces from scratch b/c unfortunately, I'm not as blessed in the kitchen as his mama is!! read more

Fabulous store. Clean & neat, with a great selection of prepared foods. This would be 5 stars if the packaging was better for grated cheese. When they grate cheese for you, they put in in a plastic bag ,instead of directly into a plastic deli container & it's messy to transfer to a proper container. Came in here today to pick up a few things. While I understand this place sells Italian foods that is no excuse for the people working behind the deli counter to make fun of the average American (who seemed like a large portion of their business in the store with me) who pronounces a famous white creamy cheese as "mozzarella" instead of "moots-a-dell". Especially since by the looks of it the people working there are your local slimey staten islanders who pretends to be from the old country. Will not return. I'll go to the pastosa on Richmond ave.
