I drink it at home via my keurig but it still doesn't compare to the real deal. Their cold brew is superior. Their oat milk is superior. Their coffee doesn't taste burnt like *some* other coffee spots. I don't understand why we don't have more locations in San Diego! Both the downtown location and the Bristol Farms locations closed in the last two years, so this still is my closest location. I really like the layout of this store. It's roomy! It had a nice outdoor area! Its super clean! The coffee counter is spacious so you aren't cramped waiting with everyone else. And of course the coffee and baked goods are delicious. Ever since Peet's came about in the Bay Area it has become my go to coffee shop. In high school I was all about McDonalds coffee and in college I was all about Starbucks. Now that I have become a little more sophisticated in life Peet's has been my go to. Getting a soy hazelnut latte at Starbucks just isn't the same as getting one at Peet's. Plus Peet's breakfast sandwich outshine that of Starbucks. I've had Philz coffee once and didn't understand the craze for it. I can always count on Peet's to make the type of coffee that will get my through the day. There have been a couple instances where different Peet's locations just didn't have hazelnut flavoring and I substituted for caramel but all had been restored. read more

It has the same small and cozy square footage but with appreciable improvements: a new modernized interior and best of all, it's now just a hop and skip away (i.e. a 60 second drive from home sweet home). Enter the establishment and you'll be immediately greeted. The service is warm and friendly. Exit the establishment and you'll be walking away pleased, perhaps even inclined to write a Yelp review. Even if you were famished and hoping to satiate your enormous appetite from busting your derrière pleasing guests at Din Tai Fung in exchange for minimum wage and tips, you run little risk of overeating. This is because the portion sizes of the food are small, an ongoing industry trend that I hope persists because--contrary to popular opinion but consistent with actual peer-reviewed science--the single-most effective means for physical health in an industrialized society is not exercise, obsessing over macronutrients, or demonizing certain foods, but rather portion control. It's not about what you eat but rather how much you eat. When I have a craving, I don't need 800 calories of Monkey Bread or Crustless Tomato Quinoa Quiche when I have the option of buying half the amount (yes, you can choose to only eat half, but it's great that you only have to pay half the amount as well). Speaking of Monkey Bread and Crustless Tomato Quinoa Quiche, the former is tasty, akin to a chunky cinnamon roll, while the latter is exceptional, diminutive but yet satisfying at under 400 calories! Ask for either to be heated. Their blueberry muffins, however, are average. And regarding their matcha drinks, with milk, the green tea flavor is lost and are thereby not recommended; without milk, the green tea flavor is forward and refreshing but an establishment with specialized knowledge and experience with matcha would be better. This is my favorite Peet's's store so far. It is located near the Westfield Mall (South/East) of Mall off Town Centre Dr. It is good sized and has a dog friendly patio. Staff is friendly, coffee is hot and hearty, and the clientele are interesting and diversified. Tunes play and create a warm atmosphere. I was gifted free coffee beans for attending the Grand Opening week celebration. I am grateful to have this amazing place to enjoy my morning coffee and breakfast sandwich. I use the Pete's reward app. To take advantage of the free items offered after the purchase of 15 items including the free beans mentioned here. The outdoor patio is really artsy and visually appealing as it has a hand made river rock wall. Quite lovely and doggie friendly for those with their side kicks. The floors/counters are the best part...Carrera Marble...stunning. Very nicely designed and built. The coffee, food and service are exceptional. I love the character of these employees. I always welcome a new Peet's Coffee in San Diego or anywhere else for all that matters. I had them make me a cafe almost every single day (here in UTC). I came back on Saturday morning (10/26/19) and I had served by Karen (I haven't seen her before). I bought breakfast and coffee, paid around $10 +$3 tips. When I requested refuel (I paid usually $1), but not today..she were waiting additional 0.10 cent, because refuel cost $1.10 after I tip them $3. )))) so I had to go back to my car and get an additional $0.10. In my view, she wasn't polite as supposed to be. This review is not an indication of them individually, but in general itself. The staff members were all the time very nice and helpful. read more

They used to have one near school in the whole food shopping center but not sure what happened to that location. The baristas and the manager are super nice. I always get greeted by the manager or the guy with red hair and glasses.... I think his name is AJ or Alex. They always greet when customers walk in for their mobile orders. Plus, it's a great place to study on weekends. For people who are in a hurry or doesn't like waiting, I HIGHLY recommend mobile order. Almost 2 years ago we unfortunately lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. After 53 years of marriage my dad bought a new home on his own near the Renaissance center. Don't purchase from them using the TooGoodToGo app. I purchased a bag of pastries via the app and arrived at the store, only to have them tell me they had no food for me, even as I saw they had plenty of food available. Very disappointing and a big waste of time. They refunded my purchase, but didn't care about the time I spent to get to the store. The counter lady chose to blame the app for any fault in inventory. Ok. First of all, I swear I'm not a Karen. I don't usually try to be a pain in the brain and I love to be kind and an easy customer! Hahaha, I had to throw that out there first! So, normally I go to another Peets, and I am used how they prepare my chai there. I KNOW what "extra hot" means there, and I like it because it's just a bit hotter. BUT I came to this Peets. I ordered my chai "extra hot" and that DEFINITELY was extra hot. Like, magma hot. Which I think it's probably what it should be, actually! I was just expecting something else. So I came here again another time and, this time, I was ready. I got to the register and said: Hello! I'd like to have a chai, somewhat extra hot, but not like your extra hot, only... half extra hot? (I know, I know, believe me) She smiled, didn't blink and said: "Of course!" I still tried to justify what I considered a slightly Karen-like request and tried to explain to her WHY: "Sorry! I know, it's just that I'm used to the other Peets, and you know..." She smiled kindly and said she totally understood. A couple of minutes after they were already working on my order. They called me to double check what I needed. Apparently at the register, when writting the order, she had clicked on both "mild hot / extra hot." Great place and great workers. Never had an issue with any of the employees. They have outdoor seating. They do have some squatters there but that is true for most coffee shops now a days. The workers try to get your order out as fast as possible but there's usually a wait. I would add on 5-10 min too your schedule especially if you're going during rush hours. Some side trivia. Giving this specific location three stars after today's visit. I usually go to the Hillcrest or Point Loma locations for my usually black tie. After running a few errands in the area this morning I thought stopping by for a coffee fix would be a great pick me up and a sweet surprise for my partner. I ordered two large black ties with an add shots, when they were ready I grab them and left. First mistake on my behalf, I usually take a sip to make sure I had the correct drink. I arrive home and take a sip and immediately know it was wrong and lacked the chicory syrup and additional shot of espresso. The black tie tasted bitter day old iced coffee that was watered down with lukewarm water and half & half, if I would've known it was going to taste like that I would've gone to a Starbucks drive-thru location instead for a nitro cold brew. This could've been a one off situation and I didn't feel comfortable removing my mask in store to taste my drink. Perhaps next time I'll be better or maybe I would make the drive south for my Peets fix. read more

This coffee house doesn't have regular coffee. When I came in cashier told me that they only have fresh coffee in the pick hours. I was thinking to myself, this is a coffee house, right? So what their definition of the peak hour could be different from yours. This is the only coffee house I have ever been that will not have coffee for you whenever you want it. Also, don't bother bringing your mugs in for refills. They are charging as for regular coffee of coffee medium and give you 10 cents discount to make you feel better. That ridiculous!!!! This experience was awesome! Today was their first day open. Over all the location was an enjoyable atmosphere. The coffee was fresh and great flavor. Tyler welcomed me at the door with an awesome friendly upbeat attitude. As I was invited to the counter by Maya she was very helpful and offered me great choices after asking what I might like. She recommended the dark chocolate orange mocha. I was concerned it would be bitter she gave me a great description aligning with what I was originally saying I was looking to enjoy. She also recommended I sign up for their rewards program and helped me find the application on the App Store to start earning my free coffee. Brand new Peet's Coffee location. I attended the soft opening on Saturday and the grand opening today. As one can expect, the staff is getting adjusted to the new location and each other. However, they are extremely enthusiastic and friendly! The location is great and feels like it's always been there... i.e. it's a great fit in the complex. I've already been twice and I will be making this a regular spot due to its convenient location (for me), but for now (as it's new), I give it 4 stars. They are a bit slow in preparing drinks. With that said, all 3 drinks I've ordered so far have been prepared perfectly. If that's the trade off, I'm OK. My only concern is how the location will manage the morning rush - given how green all the staff currently is. I'll be sure to update my review as I continue to frequent this location. In the meantime, definitely visit! The smiles and enthusiasm are worth it! read more

I settled for a white chocolate mocha which was amazing and wasn't overwhelming sugary like Starbucks. I came here with a couple of friends and we stayed over an hour at one of the tables just chatting. We even brought small outside food and no one said anything (thank you!)!
