I am perplexed at how anyone could give this place anything more than 2 stars, which I believe is generous. We had delivery. We tried it once, then thought maybe it was a fluke and ordered again... I ordered 6 different dishes to debunk my suspicions and frankly, I think I'm about to go into kidney failure from the excess salt. On the other hand, the fried rice... it looks like soy sauce was added, then why does it taste like you washed it before serving it? The descriptions say "korean" or "bento" or "Thai" and purports to add all these different country flavors but it misses the mark on ALL of them by thousands of miles. I really wanted to like this place but the chef with the missing tastebuds may want to rethink his career choices. Concentrate on one regional style food and master it. Adding different flavors you know nothing about, dilutes and offends that region's cuisine especially when it's weak, flavorless, and confused. Peiwei has been my favorite place to go for years until recently their store cashiers messed up the download APP due to a confusing communication. The store manager Robert had very bad attitude to me when I questioned him. He didn't talk to me nor gave me a number tag nor told me that he's done with my order. Made me stand there waiting for a number from him. When he brought the dish over tomy table, he left the dish and walked away with bad attitude. Also overheard he even argued with the senior ladies next tomy table back and forth that he didn't have to wear a mask (not to judge if he should wear or not), but the bad attitude is shocking to me. The customer service is just so bad. This is my last visit to Peiwei. read more

Normally I take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Today I was on face book and I see an ad telling me if I order 2 entrees I get a free lettuce wrap. Just enter the code WRAPS. Numerous complaints on the web site and 2. 2 rating out of 5 but I have always liked the food and the prices are fair. So I try and enter the code and nothing !! No big deal so I call the location and the person says just let us know when you arrive and we will get them for you. So I get there and my entrees are are ready so I tell the young man about the wraps and he turns around and talks to someone in the kitchen and he comes back and tells me we don't have a promotion like that? Food was terrible! I ordered a large wonton soup. It tasted old and re-heated. I did not finish it and threw it away. I ordered two chicken eggrolls and one roll smelled like raw chicken meat, it was so gross! I ordered their new basil chicken, the chicken was raw and I had requested no cashews, and they did not follow directions. I ordered the honey shrimp it was delicious! I had placed the order to go, the person who brought me my order was incredibly rude and the containers of food were open and not sealed or closed. Clean chinese food when I think of Pei Wei. The place feels a step above panda express. In terms of food, it's okay. The rice was a little dry but the sauce in the food made up for the dryness. We got two small plates of honey seared shrimp. Riced cauliflower was on offer, so we got some. It was disgusting. Dry, completely unseasoned. Shrimp were delicious but tiny portions. $21 for about twelve shrimp and crusty cauliflower. Someone came and grabbed our plates - full to the brim with cauliflower and didn't say anything. I met a friend for lunch -- not my choice, although I've never been to one before -- but it was convenient and he said it was okay. Well, he was right about that, Pei Wei Asian Diner was okay. It wasn't bad and it wasn't great, but it sufficed for the purpose of a quick lunch. This is the type of place where you order from the cashier, they give you a number and then they bring the food out to you. Service is really swift because they cater to the lunch crowd so they want you in and out in a span of 30 mins if they can help it. I got the tofu spicy noodles. They weren't bad, but the noodles they used were strange, kind of like pad thai noodles even though the description sounded like they would be regular egg noodles. My friend got the Chinese chicken salad which wasn't bad either. I mean for 'fake' Asian food, it's not bad, but don't expect authenticity here. I would probably return again if my friend wanted to re-visit, but I'm not sure if I would return on my own. Portions are huge too. I couldn't even finish half of my lunch and had to take it home. This is my second time here now and I don't have any true complaints but it may not knock your socks off. I'll actually go with a 3.5 stars on this one. The inside is pretty clean. The menu is streamlined and the cashiers were... Cashiers lol. They were fairly helpful. Quick run down about how the menu works. You can choose and app if you want then you start building your meal by selecting your protein including hippie options (small or large size) and then figure out if you want a noodle bowl or rice. Then pick your sauce/flavor (which they give a decent amount of choices) and finally additional items. It's as simple as that. I think I may explore other flavors but I will say I was pleased with the ginger and broccoli sauce combo. It was pretty flavorful. Not a bad place for decent meal with some different flavors. This place used to be so good. I don't know if it's because of the covid pandemic and the workers don't want people coming in but I ordered dan dan noodle today 12/19/20 at 12:50 after work and asked for extra sauce on the side since last time there was barely any sauce on the dan dan noodle. They drenched the noodle in sauce and put extra sauce on the side. It seems like if I don't ask for extra sauce, they only put a little on the noodle but if I ask for extra sauce on the side, they put a lot in the noodle itself. My family and I could not eat the noodle because it was too salty because of the sauce. We asked for extra sauce on the side. Not on the noodle. If they did it as a courtesy since we wanted extra sauce on the side, thank you but we did say we only wanted extra sauce on the SIDE. Hopefully the management sees this. This used to be a solid 4 stars (decent price, good food, good service). I've been here many times but it has been a month or so since my last visit. This time I noted the prices went up and my smaller plate option disappeared (not available after 4pm evidently). When they delivered the food, the portion was just the same as a small plate... only 5 nuggets of chicken with my sweet and sour along with a heavy serving of veggies. My mom ordered her dish with less rice and MORE veggies (and paid extra $$ for it) but their "extra" veggies was like 3 snow peas, a few carrot slices and a few more broccoli for the entire dish...too skimpy! I tasted her dish and it was also quite salty -- too much sauce! My thai chicken wrap was meh. It was juicy and somewhat flavorful, but just seemed kind of grayish in color to me. Came in for a quick lunch a while back, and for what seems to be a chain restaurant? I was pleased with my experience. Parking is already a bitch, and I was bobtailing a rig, so even harder to find 3 spots to take up. (Yes, I know I'm obnoxious.) Came in and waited in line for a few minutes. The sign they have there explains how you order: Pick a meat, a sauce, and a side or whatnot. I chose Shrimp, Kung-Pao, and white rice. I added Thai Wonton soup, and an Iced Tea. Not only is parking a bitch, but finding a seat is just as bad. At least during rush hour it was. I scoped some people getting ready to leave, so I stood by them for a second and waited for them to leave. Then I took the 2-seater booth for myself. Got my food, then realized that an older Woman was standing around my area perplexed, looking for a place to sit with her Daughter. I offered to give up my seat for them, but the Daughter declined. So I offered the Mother the other seat at least until her Daughter found a seat for both of them. The Mother seemed exhausted. She sat with me for just a few minutes, then went and had lunch with her Daughter. So, onto the food! The Shrimp was good quality, tasty shrimp. Cooked well, but with a little crunch. The Kung-Pao didn't have the heat I craved, but it had great flavor. One of the employees offered to get me some Sriracha Chili sauce to help it along. A few spoonfuls was all it took. Good stuff, much better than any strip-mall Chinese Kung-Pao. The White Rice was, white rice. But stickier than most, which I like The Thai Wonton Soup was good, just a tad bland. I was hoping for more lemongrass flavor. The mushrooms were tasty though. I added some rice to it for texture. The Iced Tea was very good, don't know if it was processed or fresh, but I liked it a lot! Though this location is styled as an "Asian" location, that in itself is an advertisement to draw in tourists. Many of the offerings on the menu taste little like their counterparts when eating at an Asian restaurant with authentic recipes and even their American style Asian food is different in taste and consistency than what one would find at a food court in a mall. When eating here, one can ask for less sauce to reduce one's calorie intake (it would be a good idea because the sauces are very sweet). Unfortunately, there is no way to balance both the taste and calorie count. When asking for the regular amount of sauce, there is still some left over. When asking for less, the sauce does not cover all of the items in the dish and leaves some items bland. In comparison to the hot and sour soup at other food court locations and chains such as Panda Express, their hot and sour soup is incredibly thick with cornstarch, dark brown with vinegar, and feels a lot like one is trying to devour a bowl of hot soy sauce when consuming it due to all of the sodium in it. They offer free fortune cookies, letting one have multiple fortunes per day if one wishes to know their future. They also have a Coke Freestyle for soft drinks. Since this location is in the Tustin District, the parking and attempting to get out is terrible, though that is an inherent problem with the entire complex. read more

You don't have to worry about finding a table after ordering your food. I got the shrimp fried rice, it was good, not great. Portion was big for me. I like that they have the to-go boxes out, so you don't have to bother waving down a waiter for one. You can take all the fortune cookie that you'd want. This place is unbelievable with their fresh authentic Asian food and their hospitality. Everyone is so courteous and kind and accommodating. The manager Jason is an awesome gentleman who goes out of his way to please the customer and prepare what they like . He is a great asset to the company and will make sure to personally prepare you a fresh and delicious dish every time. Where else can you find a service like what Jason gives you? Nowhere.
