We have come here on every Maui vacation we have had but this was the last time we will dine there. We used to love being busy with snorkeling and swimming and then loading up on some tasty pasta dishes, but they are terrible now. We ordered a fettuccini alfredo, baked penne, and a sandwich with vegan cheese. The sandwich was the biggest disappointment, it was the cost on the menu +$2 for vegan cheese. The cheese was cold shredded cheese out on the bun, not even melted or toasted or anything. The baked penne sauce was so watery and flavorless. Absolutely bland and terrible. The fettuccini alfredo was flavorless. Then we all got food poisoning. I guess that's that. Based on their food, I don't believe they have the passion anymore to run a good restaurant. Cruising with the family in Lahaina last weekend we found ourselves looking for a casual sit down place with reasonable prices... did a quick search online that suggested this spot. At first, everything fit the bill, super casual (you pay at counter, then they bring the food to you), and prices are fairly affordable for Lahaina. Wife got the Baked Penne with a side Caesar salad, kids got the Fettucine Alfredo, and I ordered the Linguine Clams that I "had to try" according to the girl at the register. Salad arrived first, nothing to write home about, leaves were slightly warm actually and the dressing lacked the usual Caesar zing. A few minutes later dinner arrived. All that I had expected when it came to flavor fell completely flat from the very first bite. Okay, I'll add salt, I thought. Still no flavor. More salt, and Parmesan, maybe. Still. No flavor. I asked my wife about her dish and she had the same reaction. Although a couple dashes of salt did help elevate the flavor to something semi-palatable. I tried the kids' dish (how can you mess up Alfredo?) and unfortunately it also lacked any pizzazz. I tried to finish my fair portion of noodles but it just felt like I had noodles, something chewy, and sauce in my mouth with no flavor at all. I couldn't do it. Very disappointing, as I'm usually very forgiving if I can find at least one decent bite of food in my entire meal or even one from someone else in my party. Can't complain about service, everyone was nice and there seemed to be regulars engaged in regular-type conversation with the staff, but I would definitely not go back on my own bill. I hate to say it but if someone offered to pay I'd probably offer to pay and opt for another spot. 2 stars cuz the service was fine. Memorable for the wrong reason. read more

Tiny little place 2 blocks off of front street in a little hub of shops. Order at the counter, which we typically don't like, but this place was nice. We were the only people there. One guy at the counter who was our server, waiter, and probably the cook. Good food. Really delicious small caeser salad. I got the Fettuccine alfredo, my hubby got the chicken Parmesan. His was really good. Mine was pretty good not the best in the world, but pretty good. Salad was very good. Got the 10% discount for mentioning yelp. Pretty good deal. read more

We come to Penne Pasta every time we visit the island. The owner Juan is very nice and friendly, and their food is consistently good, and reasonably priced. They have a nice sidewalk patio so you can enjoy your meal and watch the world go by. Their flatbreads are nice and light with a thin crust. Our favorite is the goat cheese with mushroom! read more

Great value off the mayhem of the main drag. The wife and I just wanted a small bite and drink and we were pleased that we chose this establishment! Had the antipasto plate and caprese, both were fresh and tasty and went great with our wine and beer. Nice outdoor patio where you can kick back and relax after a sweltering trek down Front st. The Penne Pasta dish we ordered was good. We also ordered an Antipasto salad from the category that said "Antipasto Salads." When it arrived it wasn't a salad but a plate of salami, olives, pickles and cheese. No lettuce or dressing. We've been ordering antipasto salads forever at restaurants and get an actual salad. The guy working the counter was rude and didn't seem care to help make it what we thought we ordered. He just cooly said, "you can buy some lettuce if you want." After that he was friendly with the other table of people in the restaurant but ignored us. We'll chose to go elsewhere in the future as we didn't feel like a valued customer. read more

We skeptically went in, it wasn't busy and it's quite quaint. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. We shared a garlic cheese bread which was delicious. I had the pesto linguine and my husband had the chicken parmesan. They were both full of flavour and of very high quality. I definitely recommend this place, don't judge a book by its cover. I should have known this place was no good but I thought I'd give them a chance. My first impression wasn't so good. On the way over to Lahaina one of their drives was cutting in and out of traffic like a crack head. The food. Ok the calamari was good. We had that and three other dishes. We came to Maui for our honeymoon, and searched immediately for restaurants with the best vegan options. Thankfully, other reviewers identified this quaint cafe-style Italian bistro for their flexibility. We came in, and didn't have to explain "vegan" at all, in fact, the owner had two perfect recommendations, and this was the best baked pasta I have had in a long time. Not worth the money, time or energy to eat there! We ordered two pizza's and wings. Pizzas are no more then a thin tortilla with hardly any sauce, cheese or toppings! The wings were basic. I thought it was a little funny that they charge for refills on soda considering it's such an inexpensive cost for a restaurant. But then it all made sense when I saw the food come out. I don't hand out 5 stars like candy. So a solid 4 doesn't disappoint in my book. Took the family here to get them out of the hotel. Passed by a number of restaurants until we hit this one and it's a great local pizza joint. My wife and I both got the tomato and mozzarella pizza which was awesome. Thin crust was perfect to my liking and the price wasn't bad either. I ate all of my pizza and polished off the other half of my wife's. I would recommend it. read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Hawaii. I came here 2 years ago with my family and randomly discovered this place while walking the front street. I'm so glad we decided to stop by lunch here because the cheesy garlic bread is the BEST. This year I came here with my husband and we grabbed lunch and dinner both here.
