Picked up a few pastries here the other night using the app Too Good To Go. Our surprise baggie got an apple stuffed croissant, cherry danish and a huge cinnamon roll! The cinnamon roll was decadent! Very sweet and so delicious! Loved the frosting! The apple croissant though was probably my favorite. The apple filling made it taste like you were eating an apple pie! And I think it was also mixed with some sort of cheese filling? Not quite sure but it was so tasty none the less!! The most amazing bakery !! This French-inspired gem has the most unique baked goods you will find in NYC. The bursts of flavors are extraordinary. Highly recommended: Mango Eclair. Amazing in every way! My boyfriend and I got the pumpkin spice danish. We sat outside and INHALED that pastry then went back inside to buy more. I don't even like pumpkin spice ... that's how amazing the flavors here are. Don't ever be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone here! The flavors are mind-blowingly good. Good but pretty pricey. The flavors are yummy, but I didn't think there was anything that stood out about the execution of the pastries for the price that it comes at, truthfully! I ordered the tropical cake and the guava cheesecake danish - the former did not impress me much, everything was just ok and the primary flavor is pineapple and texture is creamy. The guava cheesecake danish was more interesting, as the guava flavor was nice and strong, complemented by the creaminess of the cheesecake and then the danish crispiness and chewiness - definitely liked that a lot more. I've been looking forward to trying this place since they've opened. Super happy I did! Tried their weekend special (also Halloween special) which was an Oreo cream puff with some cute bay wings. LOVED THIS. The filling of the cream puff was such a rich Oreo flavor. Not too sweet. The server was super nice, I asked for each item to be packaged separately which she happily did, I didn't realize how much work that was going to be with the different boxes. She taped the bottom of each pastry down to the box so they wouldn't shift in transit which I really appreciate. I also tried the blueberry almond twist (cross between a danish and croissant) the almond filling under the tangy blueberry paired very well and the flavors balanced each other well. I've been to Petit Chou 4 times - I don't have a photo from any occasion. Reason being, it's too damn pretty and too damn delicious to even bother grabbing my phone. Firstly, the display is nothing short of stunning. I've been to many bakeries where the representation online is nothing like what you get in person. Petit Chou delivers - my eyes shoot open every time, trying to take every little beauty in. It really is incredible. Secondly, flavors are so well thought out. I've had nothing that is too sweet. Everything has been well balanced and masterfully executed at a price that is so fair. Thirdly, staff here is out if this world. Each time it was a different employee and they were all equally, friendly and helpful. Had some friends visiting the city and I live right near petit Chou so we finally decided to give it a try. We ended up getting the chocolate chip cookie and chocolate croissant (they were already sold out of their cinnamon roll which is what the employee recommended). The chocolate chip cookie was yummy and the employee described it as being crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside which was true! I'm surprised this cookie isn't more talked about on social media tbh (side note: they should totally serve this hot or you should ask them to heat it up). I think freshly baked the cookie would have been amazing and we could have heated it up a little bit more than we actually did. I didn't get to try the croissant but my friend took it on the flight with her home and texted me saying it's the best croissant she's ever had and requested me to bring some when I visit her next. This is a must go bakery in the East Village. I usually don't write Yelp reviews but this place impressed me so much and I haven't heard about it too much so I am here to bring the hype :D. I just stumbled upon this place and tried out the Pistachio Eclair, Vanilla Eclair, and hazelnut bon bon and I was instantly transported to flavortown I kid you not. The Pistachio Eclair is sooo delicious it has a very earthy nuttiness and a smooth cream that's not too sweet. The vanilla eclair was also super delicious but the pistachio definitely dances in your mouth. The hazelnut bon bon was also super good! Beautiful, delicious pastries! It is a bit expensive, but it's great for a nice treat. I definitely thought it was worth it for a birthday celebration. You can also tell the put a lot into presentation and giving the customer the best experience. The person who served us accidentally damaged a couple pastries but made sure to put those aside and give us beautiful products. They also pack the pastries to ensure they won't move in transit. We took our pastries to go, but there are a few bar seats if you want to stay. We tried the tropical cake, the passion fruit eclair, calamansi puff, and the mango cheesecake. The eclair was heavenly, but we love everything pass fruit. It was later in the day, and it was not soggy. The tropical cake was also delicious, as was the calamansi puff. I don't understand how anyone can give this place less than 5 stars. I went around 4PM on a weekday and most of the pastries were still available. The staff that was working was very welcoming and nice. As soon as I entered, I was enamored by the beautifully decorated pastries perfectly aligned in a refrigerated glass case. As someone who is impulsive, this was a problem...I ended up purchasing more pastries than I had planned for. First of all, they are not frugal with the pastry fillings. The passion fruit and guava puff is filled to the brim with a tart passion fruit custard and sweet guava filling that complimented very well. The puff pastry is flakey and baked to perfection. I thought this was the most adventurous item they had, and they did not miss! The apple pie puff is IMPECCABLE! This is a modern take on the classic apple pie that exceed anyone's expectations. This pastry is filled with, not overwhelmingly sweet, custard cream with a sweet apple pie filling at the bottom. Topped with apple pie filling and perfectly whipped, heavy cream to compliment the heaviness of the custard. I can't wait to eat this again. The guava cheesecake danish is also very delicious. The base of the pastry is buttery and flakey filled with a sweet cheesecake custard; topped with a dollop of guava purée. I can't wait to go back and try everything they have to offer. A L L of their pastries are incredible. They are all beautiful, intricate, and you can see the neat and pristine layers of puff pastry in every croissant. On par with (or frankly superior to) Maison Kayser, or Pierre Herme (for macaron). On top of that, their customer service is GREAT. In one instance, we realized that we had been given the wrong pastry (it was partially our fault, too - we didn't notice that they had picked up something else from the shelf) until we were half way down the block - we hadn't touched it, but when we went back, they gave us the right pastry free of charge. In another instance, I had taken a few bites out of a pastry that tasted a little off - it was a savory pastry that had floral aromas in it that made it difficult to eat. I brought it back, and felt terrible, but they offered me the option of a refund or a replacement. Of course I chose a replacement (since everything is so good), and it was delectable! Really nice to have such a warm, welcoming small business. They could have easily told me to buzz off, but they did the total opposite - it really makes a huge difference! Maybe my favorite French bakery in NYC--high bar to set but true! Their ham and cheese and almond croissants are to die for. Generous stack of ham inside (not a measly slice and oozing with cheese. The frangipane in the almond croissant is extremely decadent and fresh. Croissant is perfectly flaky and dense, layers of heavenly goodness. You can tell the butter they use is of is extremely high quality. As a nearby resident, I was so thrilled to see a patisserie of this sort open in the neighborhood. I had been traversing such lengths for my French pastries, but now no longer have to. Not that I have anything against your typical chocolate and hazelnut, but much respect to them for venturing beyond the norm and including more tangy flavors like mango coconut and strawberry (which also happen to be my favorites hehe). I tried eclairs in both varieties and was blown away by the quality and consistency. I'm also not usually a huge fan of anything pumpkin, but they did such a good job incorporating it into a cheesecake that they may have turned me. However, the frontrunner for me so far has gotta be the passion fruit blueberry choux. From my limited experience, the staff really appears to be very friendly as well. They were super accommodating to me when I popped in to grab a little treat for my friend's birthday, asking how exactly I wanted everything packaged and providing me with candles. I'm so looking forward to new items in upcoming seasons. I'm already eyeing that oreo eclair that I don't recall noticing before :O read more

Best Bakery in New York!! It's been 24 hours since I walked past Petit Chou for the first time and what I saw through the window was so beautiful, I had no choice but to go inside. After much contemplating I decided to pick up a raspberry eclair with a vanilla cream interior, a banana cream pie and a guava cheesecake danish, and I couldn't have made better choices. Each one that I tried was better that the one before, I could go on and on for another three paragraphs with so much more details but I will spare everyone. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could but that's life. I was overwhelmed by the aesthetic assortment once I walked in so I asked the owner for his recommendation. He told me his current favorite was the peanut butter eclair so I went with his word. I now know I can trust this man with my life LOL. I also tried their halzenut eclair and strawberry shortcake pastry - everything was phenomenal and I may or may not have eaten everything in one sitting. I ordered a strawberry shortcake flavored cake with pink decorations. The day finally came to pick it up and - oh my gosh - the cake was so pretty! It was wrapped in a pink chocolate shell and topped with chopped berries and a heavenly cream. The flavors were soooo yummy - layers of fresh strawberry purée thing and shortcake cake.
