Cakes were delicious, but we came for chocolate chip cookies and even waited for them to be made, and they were never baked. The worker kept telling everyone who came by that they would be ready in 20-30 mins, so we actually waited inside about half an hour and didn't get any. The cakes themselves were tasty, but very decadent, so they needed to be savored and eaten in small bites. There's a small area with barstools to eat inside!

Petit Chou 229 1st. Ave. New York, NY 10003 Breakfast Croissandwich This sandwich is layered with scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, and american cheese on laminated homemade croissant dough. Also included is chipotle aioli dipping sauce. Pieces of the croissant did fall off, but it was still unbelievably tasty. #eastvillage #eastvillagenyc #petitchou #breakfastcroissandwich

Stopped by right before closing and with a limited selection, walked out with a raspberry cheesecake and guava, danishes. Both were excellent. Space is relatively small so most people just grab something to go. At almost $10 each these are indulgent treats however in line with a lot of higher end pastries in the City.

I've been to Petit Chou a couple of times now. The chocolate and caramel cake is one of the best cakes I've ever had. I couldn't recommend it more. The chocolate chip cookie is also one of my favorites in the city. I can't wait to try more from this bakery!

Probably one of the most affordable bakeries so far I've been in NY! Staff were incredible nice and toke the time to answer my question/went over the differ pastries they had/specials! I'm usually not big on eclair but The pistachio looked delicious and didn't disappoint! The cinnamon roll was huge with a generous frosting( a bit too much for me) were soft/fluffy but overly sweet with the frosting so I removed a good amount for my liking The chocolate croissant wasn't as flaky more in the bready side but my the chocolate overload filling was delicious but a bit too much! The almond croissant was my fav -flaky chewy at the same time buttery but not overly (the way I like it) with generous almond paste topping ! Worth a stop while in NY for your tasting !

I kept seeing Petit Chou all over Instagram so I absolutely had to try it and I'm so glad I did! I went early-ish on a Monday morning and was the only customer there which was nice. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese croissant sandwich (which they warm up for you), and the famous chocolate chip cookie. Both items were super good. The breakfast sandwich was honestly like anything I've had before. Loved the texture and just really tasty. The cookie was legit and I loved that it was thick! I ate it like 6 hours after I bought it and it was still super soft and the chocolate was still melty inside.

Love this spot. Tried the breakfast sandwich for the first time today. They heated it up for me and gave me a sauce on the side that appeared to be some sort of spicy aioli. Bread was super flakey on top. Overall a nice combo heated up with the sauce. This is my neighborhood preferred bakery - can't recommend it enough. Will be back.

Loved the Passionfruit Cheesecake puff and the mango. Both weren't too sweet and light/ airy. The Passionfruit filling/ jam was amazing! Sweet cashier and I was greeted as soon as I walked in. It's not a big place more like a grab and go situation but the pastries surpassed my expectations. I can't wait to go back!

WHEN: Sat @7:30pm As we walked and explored more of the area after dinner, we recognized this being one of the spots on our list for cookies. But since it was already late in the day and they had none, we decided to go with: BANANA CAKE - $12 This banana bread with toffee shell was pretty good! It was pretty sweet so we were not able to finish it all. There's not much seating but a few standing counters to have your sweet treats. Also, I appreciate there being a share of what these desserts look like on the inside

Stopped by for a quick sweet bite after a late lunch one weekend. It's a small pastry shop with a few stools and two high counters where you can enjoy your treat. Loved the way the desserts were displayed--everything looked beautiful and tempting. I tried the tiramisu cream puff. It was really good overall--I liked the texture, the flavor, and the presentation. The only thing that didn't quite work for me was the center filling they called "coffee jam." To me, it tasted more like an overly sweet caramel and didn't match the coffee-forward flavor I was expecting. If the chef or anyone from the team is reading--just a small suggestion from a coffee and tiramisu lover: if the center had a deeper coffee flavor and a bit of that pleasant bitter edge, it would take this dessert to the next level. At $8, it felt well priced for the quality. We'll definitely be back to try more of their creations!

I came here on a Saturday for the cinnamon roll which I can confirm was amazing. There wasn't no line and the staff was really nice. The place has a few bar seats so you can sit there and eat, it's really warm and bright so not a bad idea if you have time. I haven't tried anything else but based on my one visit I would highly recommend.

Been craving a cinnamon bun for months, and FINALLY got my hands on one now that I'm done with my wedding diet. My husband and I swung by at about 11:30am on a Sunday and were pleased to see cinnamon rolls still well in stock. We ordered one along with a pistachio eclair, and munched the pistachio eclair while they heated up the cinnamon bun. Pistachio eclair had amazing flavor and texture. The pistachio cream was delicious and the candied pistachios on top added a great layer of crunch and flavor. Cinnamon bun.. omg.. it was so good. Gooey and perfectly chewy. Sweet, but not excessively. Understand why it's on so many "best cinnamon rolls in nyc" list. Would 10000000% get again!!!

Are you passionate about pistachios? I am and at Petit Chou there is a pistachio éclair ($8) that is simply divine. Studded with a profusion of the tasty nuts, this pastry also has pistachio cream inside making each bite heavenly. I ate this last Friday. It's best to wait a few minutes to let it soften a bit before starting to eat. When I truly enjoy something I tend to eat slowly savoring each bite even though I know I may have it again.

Is there a way to ship orders from this place? I can't visit NY during the shelter in place but I would love the support it from Cali!

The decor is basically not having any decor. The worker I talked to was lovely. The pastry I got was a little pricey, but I did really enjoy it, and it was large. Pastries that will blow your socks off!…read more I narrowed it down to five and all five were bursting with flavor and super duper delicious! The banana pudding cruffin was shatteringly crispy and full of a light banana cream inside. It's a bit messy to eat because it's so crunchy and has a generous sugar crust. We L-O-V-E-D the Mont Blanc twice baked pain au chocolate and the Mont Blanc coffee. The pain au chocolate had two sticks of thick chocolate filling and both the pastry and the drink had a hint of orange in the foam and cream. The passionfruit donut was so light and fluffy and had the best tart passionfruit curd inside. The crab Rangoon danish was unique and tasty. The savory, creamy, spicy tart rounded out the sweet of the others. Last, but not least, I can totally see why the NY Times rated the honey roasted macadamia white chocolate cookie #1. Cookies in general are usually not my favorite, but I could have inhaled cookie after cookie in one sitting if I were allowed. Each item was so special and fantastic in its own right. I imagine they were made with love!

I finally ventured to a Levain Bakery to make my own personal assessment to determine and formulate…read moremy own opinion. Yes, the reviews are verifiably accurate and true. This location 167 West 74th Street is the original brick and mortar storefront. Levain Bakery does validate for all the hype, sweetness indulgence and fresh-baked artesian cookies and baked goodies. I am Cookie Monster from "Sesame Street" whose eyes are bigger than his stomach who becomes highly excited to engulf all cookies characteristic aesthetic thrashing, splattering every where when consuming within mere minutes. There was a short line waiting to enter for orders to be placed. Upon entering the air conditioning is at full artic chill blast and the air has a sweet aromatic odor emanating throughout. I inquired with the sales associate if the classic chocolate chip cookie contained any nuts who responded "no." I do not have any food allergies. I absolutely do not like nuts in any form. I am not allergic to nuts either. It is not my cup of tea. I am very grateful the classic chocolate chip cookie does not contain any nuts. Customer service is very attentive and exhibited who assisted me with respect, patience and perspective to explain and listen to my requests and needs as I matter. This female server was not curt and I was not rushed. I was acknowledged. I was seen. I was heard. I was not dismissed. I was respected without the standard producing a disgruntled face of reluctance to service me. I am one life in the smallest measurement. The female associate permitted me to take photos of the cookies in the display case without question which is posted with this review. Merchandise of T-shirts, tote bags, mugs, gift tin boxes are available for sale as well. This location is small as it is take-out and go. There are several steps going downward at the entrance which is not ADA accessible. There are some outdoor benches for seating, but no table. I suggest to order and consume in the comfort of your own home for full immerse enjoyment with a table. Yes, cash is accepted as that works greatly for me. Levain Bakery complies with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments" as of March 21, 2026 where all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments. Thank you, Levain Bakery for not giving me a red card! I was not blatantly ejected. I would surely return for another visit. Chocolate chip cookie $5.75 each One word: WOW! The interior was oozing with semi-sweetness. The cookie is gargantuan and very thick somewhat bulky. It is massive size well known weighing exactly 6 ounces (170 g) each and measure about 8-10 cm. in diameter and 3-4 cm thick. It is not a traditional flat cookie as I hoped. It is massive chewy interiors. It is soft. It is not crispy. Levain takes the classic chocolate chip cookie and make it their version. It did break apart and dropped onto my plate upon the third bite. It is amazing! I suggest warm-up the cookie in the microwave for approximately 1 minute. I purchased two (2) quantity of these delightful chocolate chip cookies. Delicious. I enjoyed mine with one glass of red wine which I did achieved equanimity state of mind. The red wine was a birthday 2023 gift from a work colleague which I finally opened with good reason. I was floating! Nota Bene: Store policy: "There are no returns on food or beverage. I remembered how big and filling the cookies were, you'd sit in comfort knowing how the flavors pop in your mouth. Now cut to this past year, we found out after exploring the website, there are gifts sets. Our current go to is the new parent gifts.
