Dear Management at PG's, Your waiter is an absolute b*stard and is only driving away loyal customers. I don't care if he's been there for a trillion years. He has no respect for the customer, and keeping him employed and forcing customers to endure him shows that you have no respect for the customer either. Your sh*thole of a place is already terrible with low quality charcoal and extremely dark, depressing decor that makes me want to jump off a cliff, but when a waiter acts like a total jerk and refuses to even budge to get management, that strictly crosses the line. This place is overpriced and low quality. The meat was really tough and I would be shocked if it was actually USDA prime. The mushrooms were delicious, but that's about it. I tried this place about 5 years ago and my wife and I left disappointed as steak was too charred. I wasn't planning on returning but usually give a place a second chance. Last week a new business relationship suggested getting together at last minute on Friday night. He likes this place and I thought without reservations, it would be a problem. Nope. Got there 6:45 and place only had 2 other tables occupied. Small place but 75% empty. I changed chair as leg felt loose & wobbly. Waiter was pleasant and I have no complaints on the service. Drinks were also fine so no complaints there. Menu is probably the smallest you will find anywhereI. We both had filet mignon. It was slightly over cooked but not terrible. Did not have dessert. I would 2 1/2 stars. I can't put a finger on it but it was just OK. Just not what I'm looking for in a steakhouse. Prices are fairly typical. read more

2nd time in 6 months. Walk in and have to search for hostess. Not a smiling face. Have to ask for steak knife. Baked clams like from a frozen dinner. Porter house was fatty and at best mediocre. Didn't expect Peter Luger but at these prices it was barely a cut above diner food. Nobody was impressed. My meal there last year was great. At these prices you don't get a 2nd chance. My advice. Start with a smile and good service. Last years waiter was great. This was feedback so you try to get it right. I'll be back in a few years to see if you took it. Steak over cooked. Ordered medium it came out burnt on the outside medium well. As it sat on the plate it turned into well done. Waiter never asked if the steak was to our liking. When we tried to discuss with the manager we were told we were wrong and that they never received a complaint like this before! What's worse, is when we brought the left overs home, it appeared as though they gave us a different customers food. When we called back to let them know, they were equally rude as when in the restaurant. Not worth the money. Lots of steak houses out there. Don't bother with this won. PG is a unique little place. It seems to be an old house that was converted to a steakhouse. It is warm and inviting, sure the decor is not brand spanking new but I would rather have charm than a prefabricated over designed space where more attention is paid to the space than the food.......... The waiter Ray, is attentive and knows the menu. He has been there for a long time and greets us warmly each time we arrive. The food is good, portions for a steakhouse are substantial, and the food comes out as you ordered it. Prices are reasonable. Six of us went to this establishment Saturday night. We had the most phony, pretentious, unprofessional waiter ever. The Service was HORRIBLE. We could not get his attention, we had to yell his name. We asked about the chicken special, and he showed no enthusiasm for that item on the menu, perhaps because it was the only item under 48 dollars on the menu. We all ordered steaks and yes they were fine. The mashed potatoes were flavorless, the creamed spinach okay. We all then wanted dessert and practically had to wrestle our waiter for him to take our order. He never even asked if we wanted coffee, ( which we did). I just did not have the fight left in me to try and get him to bring it. Yes, Mr. Waiter, you are tan and your teeth are very white, but your demeanor and attitude could use an overhaul. From start to finish this experience was very crude. Our party called prior about dietary restrictions which we were told could be accommodated for. Upon arrival, our coats were taken, we were seated and the waiter not only knew nothing about our allergen, gluten, and originally refused to ask a manager or the chef about it. Only after repeatedly asking questions about the tiny menus ingredients did our waiter learn that gluten is in bread and not potato products... The steak was all extremely fatty and cooked poorly and our waiter was constantly the snobby sarcastic steak house type, but this place has no rights to tout itself as such. He threw the steak grease onto my sweater and rather than apologizing said it was the steaks fault. In the midst of our meal, a couple across the restaurant (the only other party there) got up and cursed out the same waiter and left, telling him to go f*** himself. Generally the sides were also awful, veggies were drowned in oil, undercooked mushy fries, etc. To end our meal, the waiter hovered over the bill, watching us pay and no one returned our coats. All hospitality was lost as we picked up our coats from the makeshift closet of hangers and we will not be returning. read more

Last night we had our son's 60th birthday party at P.G. Steakhouse. It was our first time there. We have been at many of the other top steak houses on the Island and my husband was in the meat business so he knows meat. I don't undertand the other reviews. We have nothing but raves for last night. There were 14 of us in ages from the 20's to 90's and we all enjoyed it, loved the food, and the service was extroadinary! We were seated upstairs and the poor waiter was constantly up and down but no matter what we asked, he complied with it, with a smile. We couldn't have asked for any more. He explained everything to us and he had no trouble with having two people on opposite ends of the table sharing Porterhouse steaks made the same way and he served it to us. He was most accommodating. He was the waiter who has been there from the beginning. I recommend this place to all who want a good meal with great service. Okay, I read the reviews before I came here so I was a little worried about the food and ambience. Let me tell you, set all your fears aside, don't listen to any of the previous reviews. First of all, they must have updated the inside because I didn't find it dated at all. It was very cozy and charming. Yes Sinatra was playing in the background but that was actually very nice. We were greeted warmly by the staff and seated right away. Our waiter Tom was the best. He was witty and very attentive. We wanted for nothing he took very good care of us and I noticed all the wait staff was like that. The food was amazing. My boyfriend and I got the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes for an appetizer and it was delicious. However; because the seating is very close I noticed that the couple next to us had the wedge salad and it looked delicious. Now wedge salad sounds kind of boring and dated but this is a wedge of iceberg lettuce with bacon and blue cheese and homemade thousand island dressing and it looked amazing. And the couple told the wait staff to send their compliments to the chef when they finished their meal. The rolls were soft inside with a crisp salted crust and they were served warm. They were so light and airy they melted like butter in your mouth. We ordered the steak for two, medium rare and it was cooked to our liking and it was delicious. I got the sautéed onions with the garlic mashed potatoes and they were also delicious. My boyfriend got the home fries and he said they were very good. The atmosphere of this place is nice. Which is pretty much the only good thing about this place. Went there today with a big group of people (15 people). We were the only table when we got there at 6pm and the only table when we were leaving at 9. Atmosphere is really cute but unfortunately the food is a bit lacking. We had home fries, spinach, broccoli, filet mignon and sirloin. The home fries were little soggy for me. Spinach was very very bland. Broccoli was good. I shared a steak for three with one other friend. The steak was 1/2 pure fat.. The steak was BURNT on top and rare inside. Tasted like pure charcoal. Don't get me wrong I love rare but I don't prefer biting into a crusty top layer of charcoal. They have a very limited beer selection which is okay. Prices overall are around the price of most average steakhouses. Maybe a little cheaper than Peter Lugers but the steak quality will definitely reflect that. There were two waiters and since no other tables the waiters kept up pretty good. Waiters did a great job and have nothing bad to say about them. The food is the problem here. The only reason why they even get a second star? Is the peanut butter caramel tartufo. The best and tbh only good part of the entire meal was this dessert!! I loved it... I went to PG's steak house by myself about 2 weeks ago. Wanted to sit at the bar and eat but was told that I could not. Apparently they don't staff a bartender. There was one waiter functioning as the host, bartender and waiter. I was sat at a table and given a greasy plastic menu. Placed an order for a ribeye steak and asked for Bernaise sauce on the side. The waiter told me that I couldn't have Bernaise, that is only served with the filet. Bernaise is listed on the menu. I asked again, if the kitchen could possibly make an exception. He told me that he could only give me their "house steak sauce" but refused to make an exception despite the fact that I did not want a fliet. I decided to pay for my glass of Cabernet and leave. I've never been to a restaurant that refused to give a sauce that was listed on the menu and lose a $100+ dollar tab. I hope everybody skips this place. Plenty of great steakhouses on LI. read more

There are wayyy better steak houses around!!! So we dine here last night the food was mediocre the steak was dry. The service sucked also as we had to repeatedly look for the waiter mind you there was only one other party and us... I order a Martini from the bar. The waiter brought out the drank and I saw a bug crawling around the rim. So I ask my fiancé.... baby am I bugging or if there an ant crawling in my glass and. Now around the rim . He called the waiter over and told him there is a ant crawling around the rim of my fiancée glass.. the waiter too a look and said yes it is... he takes my drink and say would you like another one. I was so disgusted I couldn't even answer so my fiancé says yes she would.. in 1.5 SECONDS!! he comes back with another drink I said sir did you make a NEW DRINK ORyour just poured the drink into another glass!!!!! He says YES I JUST POURED IT INTO A NEW GLASS!!!!!!!!! He proceeds to say the ant wasn't in your drink it was just crawling around the RIM!!!!!!!!!! I was very UPSET!!!
