Hot mint mojito -- creamy cream, light honey

TLDR: A Philz cup of coffee is a Philz cup of coffee no matter where you pick it up. Want your pumpkin spice blahblahblah? Won't get it here :P Philz is not for everyone, but if you appreciate selecting your own beans, Philz just might be for you. Great service, and there's a variety of seating arrangements (tables, couches, arm chairs, high tops). I'd say this location has more flavor than other Philz I've visited, especially Philz in places like LA and Chicago. Music can be loud at times (overhead music, people in & out), so bring your own head phones. Longer: This is my neighborhood Philz, and I've lived in this hood for 3 years now. Lately, I've been making my coffee at home, but not so long ago, I spent wayyy too much money here (lol), and this was my non-alcoholic Cheer's beverage spot. Staff are efficient and usually stay heads down when on barista duty -- don't take it personally! (: They're busting ass to get hella coffees out. When I bring my cat in (on my shoulder) the staff perks up and are extra hella friendly xD Even though this Philz location is on the edge of the TL on one of the most notorious TL streets, I have seen nothing but mild af shenanigans over the hundreds of times I've visited. Plus, there's an Urban Alchemy team member regularly stationed on the corner in front who seem to act as security, of sorts. So, if you're nearby and craving Philz, don't let the location keep you away.

I can't visit SF without grabbing the Iced Mint Mojito Coffee--it's absolutely delicious! The mint adds a refreshing burst that perfectly balances the bold coffee flavor. The creaminess makes it smooth and easy to sip, while the fresh mint leaves elevate the whole experience. Highly recommend trying this if you're a coffee lover looking for something unique! We made a special trip to get some Philz coffee as my husband's family loves their coffee. The walk from union square through the Tenderloin was interesting as we passed by some rough patches of San Francisco but arrived at Philz safe and sound. The coffee shop was quite spacious, with a lot of room for people to roam. There was art on the walls and this location has many mismatching chairs and a sofa for people to lounge. The cashier took our order quickly and I ordered a hot Tesora with light cream and no sugar. The coffee was not strong; it was rather mild with a pleasant hint of caramel to it. It went well with a hot breakfast burrito which made for a good breakfast. Overall, I liked Philz coffee and would visit whenever I'm in the Bay Area.

Stopped by Friday morning for my (first) cup of coffee of the day. It was my first time trying Philz Coffee and it did not disappoint. The person behind the counter was very friendly, helpful, and patient while I chose which Philz classic to try. We tried the Mint Mojito, which they are known for, and a Honey Haze. The Minto Mojito was very unique and unlike any coffee I've had before. It was refreshing and had a great balance between flavors of coffee and mint. The Honey Haze was super tasty as well, and perfect for if you like honey. Also, something that was cool is at this location, they had a thing where you could buy a cup of coffee "for the community," allowing anyone to grab a ticket and get a free cup of coffee. I thought that was a really cool idea. Overall, great coffee and vibes and definitely a coffee spot that should be checked out in SF.

the iced honey haze (large, $7.10) was good with light sweetness and creaminess! they filled up my cup to the brim so I had to take a sip before they could put the lid on (not a bad problem to have). I also tried the cardamom squiggle ($4.95), I believe their pastries are from starter bakery

I tried the mint mojito coffee ($5)! You can customize the creaminess and the sweetness level. I kept it medium creamy but lowered the sweetness level. The mint complements the coffee well! They also include actual mint leaves! Service was fast. I got my drink within a few minutes.

TooGoodToGo is an app where you can order a mystery bag of baked goods for half the price (the day before) to pick up at the end of each business day. I don't drink coffee, but I'm a big fan of pastries. This was my first time ordering from Philz, so I was beyond excited to see what I was going to get. The pick up time was between 4:30-5:00pm, and the place was practically empty when I arrived 20 minutes before 5pm. When I told the staff I was here for TooGoodToGo, he immediately placed a variety of different pastries into the bag. I opened the bag when I got home and saw that I got 3 muffins and an almond croissant. They were all delicious, especially after you place them in the toaster! For less than $5, this is definitely a steal! I will definitely be back for more!!!

I just wanted to say thank you to the wonderful staff working today !! (7/10) they made us feel so welcomed! My dog loves attention and they took the time to come say Hi to him, he was super excited! I've came to this location before but today I was having a terrible morning and their kindness made my morning!

Came here to do some work and ordered a small iced mint mojito the Philz way, which comes with cream and sugar. I ended up asking the barista if I could get some more cream and sugar and they were super friendly. The space is really big and there are bathrooms and plenty of outlets and seating. This is a really nice space to get some work done near Civic Center, but if you prefer a quieter space, maybe not ideal.

I stopped by Philz Coffee on Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco and ordered a Café Mocha. Tesoro It was delicious, as always--Philz never disappoints. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax. Plus, the service was excellent, adding to the great overall experience. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area! Brooklyn the Barista was excellent!

Her serving team was the Kentucky Derby of thoroughbreds racing to place the silverware, condiments, used dishes, and refilled coffee going. The food tasted Michelin level. I can SAY that because we had eaten dinner at an actual Michelin rated restaurant the night before. (No Yelp rating needed because they ABSOLUTELY deserved it= NARI) I had a FRIED French Toast BECAUSE it cannot sit waiting to be served. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and the granddaughter had fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ in an ADULT glass (because she is a Big Girl now). While we paid our tab we heard a woman scream "I'm giving this restaurant a ONE STAARR REVIEW on YELP because of this WAIT!!!" We waited about 30-40 minutes on a Sunday, which was understandable given how busy and well-known the restaurant is. One thing that confused us was the ordering process. I initially wanted to order a particular dish (unfortunately I don't remember the name and for some reasons I don't have a picture of it), but one server told me they couldn't make it because they were missing some ingredients. Later, another server took the same order without any issues, and the dish arrived exactly as written in the menu. Since it was clearly available, I never understood why I was told otherwise in the first place. As for the food, it was good, but it didn't quite live up to our expectations. Having experienced Creole food in New Orleans, we felt the flavors there were more balanced and memorable. Here, our main dishes were a bit saltier than we would have liked, and overall the food didn't stand out enough to make us want to return. The atmosphere was pleasant, and I can understand why the restaurant is so popular. However, after visiting, I felt that some of the hype may be bigger than the actual experience. I'm glad we tried it, but if you're already familiar with Creole food from New Orleans, you may find it less impressive than expected.

I actually don't mind that- almost half the people were not around and it made the wait go faster. But I was a bit annoyed they sat us at a counter without asking- it was fine but we were expecting a table and would have probably rather wait a little longer for one. They only asked about inside vs outside and we said either was fine but no indication that we needed to mention we wanted a table. Most places seem to give you the heads up and make sure it was fine. Oh well. Everything sounded great and "The Plow" included 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, 2 eggs, pork sausage (you can also get chicken apple sausage links or bacon), and potatoes. The one nice thing of the counter is you get to watch them make everything and it is so organized and efficient. Food was solid. The wait went by pretty quick and wasn't a factor for me. I thought the pancakes were just okay- with all the hype I guess I expected them to be amazing but I honestly make better lemon ricotta pancakes (LOL). I think they needed a lot more lemon zest, maybe a touch of sugar, and the salted butter sounds great but added literally nothing. Maybe it was an off day and they weren't bad my any means but definitely nothing special. Similar thoughts on the pork sausage which was maybe slightly overcooked and the eggs which were a little under seasoned and I prefer mine a bit runnier. The potatoes were excellent, I liked those a lot and their hot sauce is very good too. $27 for the plate which seems a bit high but it's brunch in SF and it's nice they have the option to get the savory stuff but also a couple pancakes. And considering a single pancake is $7.50 it seems like a much better option to get the plate (overall all their sides are almost laughably priced ordered a la carte). I will say they use nice ingredients and a lot of the same producers I try to support in my own shopping/cooking as well as the same type of practice like pasture raised eggs. That in itself makes me feel good supporting them. I'd consider coming back but would request to sit outside and enjoy the vibes, definitely get something with potatoes, and maybe some hot sauce to go. Three and a half stars, I rounded up for now and will re-evaluate after another visit.
