My husband and I ordered the all beef pho soup and they should call it all noodle soup... there was rarely any meat... when they brought out the vegetables that your suppose to put on the soup they forgot to include basil and when I asked for it they gave us literally 5 leaves! My favorite new Pho place - they customer service is great and it's just plain good soup. I love dining in and for takeout. All their servers are friendly and great. The inside is clean and the food is tasty. Coming during the night time. This place opens late at night which is very convenient for me. The service and cleanliness is consistent which is a plus for me. Disgusting! Its not even food. Its just random ingredients thrown together without care or forethought. It's definitely not Vietnamese food. It's hardly even a bastardized Korean version of Vietnamese food. The pho tastes like someone opened up a can of chicken broth and through some noodles in it and added a few drops of fish sauce (a few). A sad, sad day was today. Yes - it is a clean restaurant (except for the bathroom) and the decor is nice (errr nicer than every other hole in the wall vietnamese place) but I dont go to a pho restaurant to look at the nicely painted walls and wood floors. I need some basic food with at least some hint of flavor. My god man! Why would you open a restaurant if you didnt care to make your food taste good? After barring myself from eating out for lunch for the past five weeks, I decided to go out to lunch with my friends. I figured I was due for a "Treat Yo Self" lunch anyway. THE FOOD The prices went up! I checked on the website, and the average price for a bowl of pho was about $6.50. On the menu, the average was $7.50! For a poor college student, this is a big deal. I wish the website was updated. Anyway, I ordered the Rare Steak and Tendon Pho (#3). I thought the broth was pretty flavorful, and the noodles weren't so frozen into a lump like at the last pho place I went to. I did add a healthy amount of Sriracha and hoisin sauce to add more depth to the broth flavor, though. The steak was cooked well, and the tendon was delicious. My complaint is that there just weren't enough of them. If Pho 22 raised the price, I would expect an increase in meat and tendon in my bowl. I also ordered the Thai Iced Tea. It was okay. Nothing else to report about that. THE SERVICE Our waitresses were very quiet. They mostly stayed out of our way, only coming to our table to deliver our food or when called. When we asked for the check, we had to ask the lady to split it four ways and apply the CSUN student discount. I felt kind of bad, but the waitress obliged us, which I truly appreciate. THE ATMOSPHERE Pho 22 looks a lot smaller on the outside than it does on the inside. The interior was clean and neat, and each table was fully stocked with chopsticks, condiments, and soup spoons. FINAL GRADE B // I'm happy with the CSUN student discount (bring your ID) and the accommodating service. Not sure what people have against korean owned vietnamese restaurants (perhaps because i'm either biased :) Or the cook is actually vietnamese :D) but this one is authentic pho with everything on the menu being quite delish. tried the pho (mm), fried rice (yum), and sandwiches (yummers). ooo and the chef's specials are oh-so-tasteful as well. the portions are definitely very generous too. food was great, but what made me a definite fan was the sleek, updated interior, the cool A/C (which is always a plus & makes conditions excellent for hot soup even on a hot summers day -- amazing), & the clean bathrooms. i always need a clean bathroom. it's a clean, newly built restaurant with good customer service...kinda has the vibe of your neighborhood-friendly, family-owned restaurant -- asian style... as for prices, just a teed higher than the extremely cheap pho over yonders, but i think for the whole package, it's definitely worth it to pay a bit extra -- most definitely. :) read more

Sooooo.....Pho 22...Where do i even begin???? As for their pho, i've had both the deluxe combo and the vegetarian. Can i just say how delicious they both are??? The broth they make is just TOO GOOD and the fact that the vegetarian broth is full of flavor and not at all bland makes it difficult for me to choose whenever i go there. The vermicelli and fried rice options are great too but i tend to not order those because believe it or not, im on a diet...hehehehe...but their rice rolls and bbq sandwiches though....They are DELICIOUS! The sauce usually makes or breaks it for me whenever i order rice rolls but the sauce here at Pho22 never disappoints. A little tip to the yelp readers out there, when you order any of their bbq sandwiches, make sure you order them with a fried egg in it. *wink*wink* P.S. I drove by this place while it was in the process of their grand opening but I never ate here until just recently. It was just past 10:30 pm on a weekday so most restaurants were closed and I did not want to eat fast food (Carl's Jr., Mc Donald's, etc...) so yelp helped me to find this place. This place is open until 11:30 pm Mon - Sat so if you are hungry and you don't want fast food, then this place is a great alternative instead of fast food. Even though that I said this place is a great alternative instead of fast food... I would not choose to eat at this place if there were other places open. Especially pho places... there are better places to eat at down Reseda for pho (i.e. Pho 999 and Pho So 1). The prices here seemed to be a little bit more than other places I've eaten at for pho. As for the pho, I always thought that you couldn't mess up pho but I thought that this pho wasn't that good. The noodles didn't seem to be cook thoroughly and the broth wasn't very flavorful... I had to add lots of Siracha and Hoisin sauce to eat my pho. The side dish of bean sprouts and other veggies for the soup was very small. Places like Pho So 1 would give double of what they give you here. Also, I was not very impressed with the egg rolls or rice rolls. Decided to be adventurous and give this place a try. Bad choice. Way overpriced for mediocre Pho. I ordered a large rare steak Pho with meatballs (steak on the side because they're usually too overcooked in the broth). Waited for a long time for our order even though there was only 1 table (of two) ahead of us. Finally received my food except it was in the wrong size. At the insistence of my girlfriend Kristina, I finally had my Pho cherry popped last night. I have to admit, beforehand, I wasn't so hot on the idea. Even now, the thought of eating animal parts which are usually processed into glue or ground up into dog food leaves me feeling a bit uneasy. Additionally, I'm a 23 year old white guy, and I grew up in a town where the only Asian cuisine available was Panda Express. However, in an attempt to become more cultured, I decided to embrace the renown Vietnamese dish with open arms -- and the result wasn't what I expected at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We entered Pho 22 around 6:30pm and I immediately received a delightful surprise. The restaurant was spotless, and extremely sanitary. Kristina had forewarned me about cleanliness, or rather, lack thereof at the Pho restaurants she had previously frequented. These horror stories had a particularly damaging effect on my mental preparedness, as well as my stomach. Obviously, it came as a great relief to find a spic and span Pho 22, especially with the exploits of Shogun Sushi still fresh on my mind. At the time we entered, the restaurant was already mildly busy. However, we were greeted without delay, and given a table by the window -- +2 for Pho 22. Already I felt ahead of the game. For me, the two things I scrutinize first at any restaurant are cleanliness and service. If a restaurant can't provide these basic necessities, it's very unlikely that the food will ever supersede. The prompt service continued when our waitress arrived a few moments later. We both ordered waters (status quo), and asked for a few extra minutes to decide on our food. The waitress was very polite and helpful, and told us to take as much time as we needed. Eventually, Kristina chose the #14 which came with shrimp muscles, squid, and fishballs; while I went another route and ordered the #1 which came with steak, brisket point, flank, tendon, and tripe. Kristina's view on the food somewhat differed from mine, so if you want another take on Pho 22 you should read her review. As for myself, I thought the #1 was an amazing dish, and who can beat that kind of meal for the price -- $6.95 for my order. Being that this was my first time, I'm obviously not a pho'king expert. However, I'm always a fan of meals with big portions, and I'm an even bigger fan of soup -- which in my mind is what pho really amounts to. The food came out steaming hot, and was delivered in a timely manner. The only item I really couldn't weather was the tendon. It just reminded me too much of a big glob of fat. Aside from the tendon, I devoured the other delicatessens one by one, enjoying the eclectic array of flavors and tastes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ultimately, I had a great experience at Pho 22, and accordingly, I'm going to hand them a 4 star review.The ambiance at this place was laid black, professional, and clean -- and they had a 50 inch plasma playing the Laker game to boot. Hey, not bad!!! Bf and I came here after a fun day of snowboarding, I've been wanting to try this place out for a while. We walk in and the decor is adorable! The bathroom has a motion-censored trash can...AWESOME!! one star for that! hahah jkjk So we take a seat and order...he got the rare steak with meat on the side like he always does, and I went for the tendon and rare steak, with steak on the side. I also asked for extra limes and cilantro, and the waitress didn't fail at that! We get our soups and the portions are HUGE!!!!! Like seriously, the amount of noodles in there is overwhelming...lol! I was a bit disappointed though because the soup wasn't piping hot at all. We need our soups to be steaming hot so that we can cook our meat in it as we eat, but at this point...we had to dump all of our meat into it from the start to get it to cook. However, the rare steak was very red and fresh! yay for that! The broth was very clean, almost too clean for me. It didn't have that meat/herby taste to it...it almost tasted like 2/3 pho broth, 1/3 hot water. ehhh... We also got 2 egg rolls on the side, and they were delicious!! I needed to get a quick lunch near campus, and as far as I know, there really aren't many pho places near CSUN. The I usually go to is way south on Reseda, so my classmates suggested "the pho place across the street!" Service was quick, but overall, it was kinda meh. The food tasted ok. Portions were smaller than Pho So 1, where I usually go. I got the rare steak and brisket, and there wasn't much of either. Also, it's relatively more expensive (with the smaller portion!), which I think was about $8.50 or so. Usually I just pay around $6.50 for a regular, so idk... It was just A-OK for me. If I could, I'd give it 2.5 stars, but since it was quick, and they were nice about splitting the check, I'll round up. read more

I came in here the other day and was eating with my friends, when I saw a waitress (I think her name was Jenny) get yelled at by a customer over a bowl of soup that contained a small fruit fly. Jenny had been very attentive and was very kind the entire time. Once the lady and daughter was finished with there pho they started to complain about how the prices went up and how there was no meat in the pho and now a fly. She seriously was yelling at the top of her lungs for 5-10 min. I don't know if there really was a fly or not but she went back to her seat once Jenny said she wouldn't charge her for the soup. The entire time the waitress was very kind and apologized. Seriously if you don't like the prices don't eat here no one is forcing you to eat here. plus complaining about everything at the end after you finish you dinner and then start yelling about a fly doesn't make the restaurant look bad it actually makes you look super cheap and stupid. On a brighter note. this place has great service and they always remember their regulars and have AMAZING pho and eggrolls!! read more

This was my second trip here in three weeks and both times our Pho was fine. One large bowl and an appetizer (Rice Rolls) was enough for me and my lady. Service was good too. Best Pho place I've been to in Northridge, ordered the chicken pho and the beef combo pho and they were so delicious

As yelpers know, I am a huge critic of cleaniness in restaurants. Lets be honest here. One of the main reasons alot of people dont like going to traditional Pho places or even trying it for the first time is because alot of them are not exactly sanitary with chopsticks and spoons out in the open for people to just grab and touch. If I am putting raw meat, raw vegetables and seafood in my mouth....I am making sure they use fresh ingredients and keep a clean environment. I visited this place with my family and ordered a bunch of stuff on their menu. Everyone ordered a Pho of choice and we had some Pork Banmi, eggrolls and dumplings for side dishes. The first thing I noticed was that the noodles were nice and firm and the broth was mild and clean. I didnt get that strong taste of MSG that I get from other Pho places. The meat was tender and the sprouts were very fresh. My wife had their signature vegetable Pho and she said it was very tasty and loved all the variety of fresh vegetables that were in the broth. The eggrolls had a nice crunchy texture to them and not overly greasy. The dumpling were my sons favorite as he finished them all. I especially loved the Pork Banmi because the bread was so soft/fresh and the flavor was full in the Banmi. Portions and service was definitely a 10 here. Its difficult finding restaurants that use FRESH ingredients anymore and this is one of the many reasons I give this restaurants high marks. If you have always been hesitant to try Pho because of the atmosphere, I encourage you to start at Pho22. read more

3 of us for lunch.... Not to busy for a cold day..... Unlike other Pho places we go to for lunch on rainy days; they seem to fill up quickly. I checked yelp while waiting for my guest to arrive. The green tea is awesome, and reminded me of the great flavored teas I have when in china. It is poured from a press and would get 5 stars on its own. Egg roll..... who said these were the best ever? dried and over fried, not even much in flavor when wrapped with the lettuce that they were served with. The dumplings..... way way overcooke to an almost old crisp, and I mean old, like they sat out, and were served not hot. My noodle soup of brisket and steak.... Where's the beef? and the very little beef was served so thin with almost 3/4" of fat along each piece. YUCK the broth.... hardly any flavor! I doctored it up by ordering extra fish sauce.... all I ended up doing was getting a runny nose from the added spice. I left more than half of it. My guest were of the same opinion with their shared chicken soup.... Poor puppy in the car did not go back to work happy. There was no leftovers for her but a scrimpy couple bits of the chicken.... Pho 22? More like Pho 20 poo. I say that because both the food and the service are crap. I love pho, I can eat it all the time, but this place misses the mark on so many levels. It probably was because the rude waitress ruined our experience. I went here with my family on a Friday night and the waitress taking our order needs to learn what it is like to be a waitress. As she was taking our order 2 people at our table started asking her questions. I get that it may be hard to concentrate on 2 people asking you something, but you would think that saying something along the lines of "I'm sorry, I couldn't understand because the two of you talked at the same time, can you repeat that?" would be pretty simple right? Not with her! In a rude tone she just said "The 2 of you are talking at the same time so I don't know what you guys are asking. I need only one of you to talk." Whoa, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but whatever. We ordered and went along with our meal. The pho is average at best, it took a large addition of hoisin and sriracha sauce to make it somewhat taste okay. Also, not once did the waitress refill our drinks without us having to flag her down. I would understand if this was a large establishment, but you can clearly see every table in the room since it is not that big. I've been slowly trying to find the best pho places near my house, but I am kind of picky so that's been a little difficult and slow going. I found this place thanks to Yelp, looked over the menu and thought I'd give it a go. I ordered the Fried Dumpling Pho and the bf ordered the Well Done Brisket and Flank Pho. I am in love with the fried dumpling pho, it's the best of both worlds, cand decide if you want gyoza or pho? Get both! The bf loved his, had no complaints and said he loved the broth. You can easily miss this place if you are not sure where it is the first time you go in the shopping center. I did a loop around the lot before I spotted it. They have a pretty big parking lot but there are several popular restaurants in the center so parking may be tricky to find. They do take out and everything gets packed nicely, so this works great if you are feeling under the weather and would like to enjoy your pho in the comfort of your own home, in front of the tv, under a pile of blankets. read more

Soup has zero flavor, the noodles have the consistency of CupNoodles that we're left in the cup for for an entire baseball game and the meat looks and tastes like they borrowed it from a retirement home in Van Nuys. From the moment i stepped into this place, i was truly pleased with the experience i had with this restaraunt. It is true that this place is owned by koreans, which had me a bit skepitc at first (though not as much as others; i am korean after all!), but don't let that fact bother you too much. Is it really that offensive if an asian person cooks hot dogs for a living? i dont really see how this could be any different, especially knowing that this place has established itself as a decent restaraunt (look at most of the reviews) the pho was solid, the bathrooms were clean, and i loved the design of the place. the owners/waiters/everyone else involved in this restaraunt were also very friendly and nice (one of the girls was pretty too, which always helps). i really can't complain about anything. I went in for a take out order, the young man that helped me was nice and courteous, it was worthy of an extra star imo, if he wasn't so nice Id have given a 3 star. Food wise, i was trying them out and have been looking fir a decent Bahn mi so I ordered the bunch, beef, pork, chicken, and fried tofu. Taste wise it was ok, not the worst, not the best.
