I went last Sunday night for the first time. I got the rare steak/brisket pho. I got the large, but probably should have gotten the regular (small?). The server brought my veggie plate and I was surprised to not see basil on it, so I asked for it. I tasted the broth before I added anything and it was ok/good. I added my sriracha and hoisin sauce and the basil, cilantro and bean sprouts, and voila it was ready to eat. It was a little hard to separate the noodles, but I managed. Went here on a Sunday afternoon, place wasn't crowded. The place is nice (not like a dingy hole in the wall). Like a lot of reviews said, the girls working the counter spent a lot of time chatting in the kitchen area. It didn't affect their service terribly (they were still pleasant, got our food out quickly etc). But I did have to go to the counter to get forks etc. just because it was faster than waiting for them to come out to check on us. Food was also pretty decent. their spring rolls are HUGE, but throws off the ration between noodles, lettuce, and the itty bitty pork in the middle that i didnt event notice until i was almost done. ordered number 6 (rare steak and brisket). The broth was tasty, but they were kinda stingy with the meat. My parents each ordered seafood and the seafood combo comes with exactly one mussel. ::shrugs:: Most regular bowls were $7.50 and the large bowls are $9.00. The regular bowl was already a lot so I guess only get the large if you're super hungry or planning to share. So I'd come back again if I was in the area and wanted to eat right away but I think to pho-fillled i'll probably stick to pho 999. read more

I got the seafood pho 8.75 very good and for $1 more you can get a large bowl. It was very good and fresh. Tried rice rolls for the first time and they are not for me. I don't like them! There's an endless number of Pho places in The Valley now. In fact, they've exploded in the past five years around here. Meanwhile, there's few that are as modern, clean and offer the service Pho 22 does. This place is normally filled with a younger crowd and succeeds are offering quality Pho at an affordable price on a consistent basis. Oh how I remember I would absolutely LOVE going here as a young boy. But sadly, some great things are reserved for the past. This restaurant for me is one of those great things. Pho is my FAVORITE FOOD OF ALL TIME. And yet, this place is a complete disappointment. Excuse me? Prices are raised to the roof and quality went down the gutter. To show just how much I hate this place now, if I had a grudge on someone, I would recommend this place to them. This place is a disgrace to REAL Pho. The meat quality is bad. The broth is watered down. The noodles don't have the "right" texture. Even my father, who isn't a picky eater, had to douse his Pho in Hoisin sauce and Sriracha hot sauce to make it taste "good". The soup in a Pho restaurant should be the best thing there. Sadly the best thing here was the mediocre (again, overpriced) egg roll. There are two words that describe this place: Bland. Overpriced. We have been looking a for a decent, clean pho place in the SF valley and Pho 22 is adequate when we don't feel like driving down to OC. We have been here twice since the opening and thus far, have ordered the Pho Tai Nam and Bun Tit Nuong (Vermicelli with BBQ meat). As with many of the other reviewers, I have to agree that the pho broth is lacking that depth and richness which makes the truly fanstastic places, special. Meanwhile, keep in mind that this restaurant is fusion (Korean owned and flavors incorporated in the cooking), so the meat in the Bun is actually marinated with traditional kalbi flavors. As a result, mixing with the fish sauce, you get a salty sweetness, which I personally could grow to like. Also agreeing with other reviewers, the ambience and environment are above average for a pho joint. This said, when I'm eating Vietnamese food, I normally have my face so buried in my food, I could care less what color the walls are anyway. Nonetheless, kudos for the effort and big screen TV. In reality, I would give Pho 22 3.5 stars, but this is not available to me - worth a try and might really satisfy that pho craving especially with winter-time coming up. read more

It's clean, great decor, but it's pricey for a pho place. They have TVs on for your entertainment while dining. And even though its a pho place, I don't believe it's vietnamese owned. It matters to some people, but not much to me if the food is good. That being said... The food is just ok. It's not great, but it's not bad, but for the price I'm thinking it should be better. They are open late, which I'm sure is convenient for the students nearby at CSUN or the night owls. This place used to be walking distance from where I lived so I would go occasionally. Now that I live further, I'd rather go to Pho 999 or Pho so 1 if I'm going to take a drive for some pho. read more

It's $1-$2 more than some places where I've had better. Go down the street 3 miles and you'll get more "authentic" pho. Service is friendly, but there's no way the server we had is getting away with saying it is pronouced FOUGH as opposed to FHA. Obviously, he isn't aware. read more

KoreAn owned pho place. I had combo 1 - the soup was totally underwhelming. The broth was light like they skimped out on some key ingredients like beef broth and some key spices. It's almost as if they tried to Koreanize this dish.. that doesn't work. There wasn't enough meat, and not enough noodle... just lot of this underwhelming broth. I was looking for some latenight pho in the area and came here at about 10:50pm- It's really nice quiet atmosphere inside of a small shopping center on Reseda Blvd. that has a few other restaurants and small stores inside. Friendly quick service! Also very good pho with tasty meat and all the fixins'.. Hope I come back for another latenight craving! We went here in february. Very good Bun, I had the shrimp and chicken combo, and instead of noodles I had extra veggies. I was disappointed about the amount of meat though, very little dry chicken. I ordered the seafood combo Pho and a side of rice. My bill came out to be $9.34 which is a pretty good deal for a large bowl of Pho. The only thing that pissed me off is the fact that my rice came uncooked. I told our waiter and she ended up calling the other waiter. I told the other waiter the rice was uncooked and she said that they mix everything together. What kind of waiter gives a customer an attitude?! Then she came back with my rice but all they did was top it off with cooked rice. They thought they were being clever. There was siracha sauce in the rice from my previous bowl in the new one. (Writing as I'm waiting for food) Came here with the family for pho, it's been over 30 minutes and we still haven't received our food... I thought pho was known for being quick and easy to make?? (At least that's what I thought with all the other pho places I've been to.) There's max 4 tables here waiting to be served.... Out of 16...? I'm not sure why their service is so slow. I would appreciate it if the servers could check up on us and let us at least know why it's taking so long (1 cook, etc.) yet alone let us know that they're sorry for the long wait. I was craving some pho and it seems really difficult to find a good pho place here in Northridge. My fiancé and I decided to try this place out since it was still open late. I gave this place three stars because the broth was delicious. I wish I could have given more, but they were wildly overpriced. They charged nearly $10 for a regular sized bowl of pho. Most genuine pho places offer the same thing for around $7-8. I was very disappointed. Their spring rolls were also over priced. You can get good spring rolls at most pho places for about $4.50. They charged over $6. I think that if they changed their prices, they'd have better reviews because the food was actually pretty good. Just not worth the prices they were asking. Good beef pho'. Friendly, prompt courteous service. I ordered the No.1 Beef Combo, (4) fried egg rolls (containing pork and angel hair rice noodles) and Vietnamese ice coffee. Everything was excellent. Good value. The place is small, but immaculate and tastefully decorated. The local radio played over speakers. On a large flat panel the PGA Tour was playing. This is a good spot for a great lunch, though you might not want take a date here for an evening dinner. I recommend to friends who like "Asian fusion" / Vietnamese cuisine. read more

Came here with my boyfriend for years, and brought my mom a few times since she loves pho. Food's very delicious and affordable; the wait staff are always very friendly and prompt; the restaurant itself has a very nice, relaxed, friendly ambiance. It also has a vegetarian pho option, and some vegetarian sides. Since I'm vegetarian but neither my beau nor mom are, this was one of the few places we could go out to eat without fuss. Not to generalize, but I noticed the restaurant seems often mostly filled with Asian customers (which means the food is not just tailored to white American tastes), but neither the wait staff nor fellow customers ever made white customers feel unwelcome. Again, not to generalize, but this was an issue I ran into growing up in Irvine whenever I went out to eat with my Asian friends, so this means a lot to me. I love this place to bits. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like the complaint is that it doesn't taste as good as authentic vietnamese pho. I understand what they mean, because I've always liked the authentic msg rich vietnamese pho, and I never really liked korean owned pho places. However, this place actually has really good and clean tasting pho. Although the authentic pho tastes really good, I usually feel bloated from all the msg in the soup. Don't underestimate the regular size. I ordered the large and my stomach wanted to die! The noodles, however, still clump together and you have to really put in some effort to pull them apart in the soup... That is a problem for me.
