Food wasn't that bad. Fried eggs rolls were really good. They give semi-fresh veggies for your pho and rolls (some pieces of veggies were already turning brown). The Pho I had was pretty good...but then again I haven't been to any Pho places that served up bad noodles. Flat soda, tap water, ok service. CASH ONLY. With the abundance of pho places in the area I'd probably look for a 5-star noodle house rather than Pho 54. Their food isn't bad though and pretty good. Pho restaurants with some seemingly random number, such as 54, is a common thing in "Little Saigon". Pretty sure some of those numbers have a meaningful significance to the original owners, but such significance are rarely, if ever, shared in the "About Us" page of the typical mom and pop Pho restaurants. Pho 99 sounds auspicious. Pho 88 has lucky 8s. Pho 95, might have been opened in 1995. Why Pho 54? No clue. Opened on April 5 or May 4th or that's when the owner was born? You guessed are as plausible as mine. Regardless of how the name is chosen, the fact that Pho 54 is a decent pho restaurant with competitive prices, and like so many of their competitions, does not accept credit or debit cards as payment. Cash is king here, baby! There is an ATM on premise, in case of emergency. Besides pho, they also have bun and rice plates and the ubiquitous appetizer and drink menu selections. The pho is served hot and quick. The bean sprouts and herbs are fresh. But ask for white onions on the side, if you want that or have never tried that with pho. If you are in this hood with a crying for PHO and don't know what restaurant to try, give Pho 54 a try. First time for everything and I'm happy I picked this spot to try out pho for the first time. My experience was great! I ordered the shrimp pho and it was really good. The broth was just right. The shrimp was cleaned probably and cooked well. Didn't have a bad sea taste like other shrimp I've tried. The service was fast and the guy was really patient with us. I was taking forever to order and he took his time to talk to us about the menu. We dine in with our face masks but you're able to take them off only while we're eating. They don't pack down the restaurant and are following the guidelines to sit people far away from each other. I noticed that only four families like small parties were able to dine in and I saw another couple coming in and the sat them outside, so I like that this restaurant is being precautious. First time here my friend brought me since she mentioned it was her favorite pho place in town. s soon as we parked and start walking towards the restaurant I thought wow smells delicious! I was surprised there a lot of people dining in but they were good to try to distance people. The Pho was good and the broth was yummy I think the bowls are smaller than other places I've been to but at least you get what you paid for $7.50 for a regular bowl. Not sure if it's because my brother and I just came back from Coachella after 2 hours of driving at midnight, but the pho here tasted amazing. I'm sure the exhaustion played a part, but the broth was really flavorful and noodles/toppings weren't stingy. Service was also crazy fast. We literally ordered and 5 minutes later, food was ready and hot. Decently priced too. Staff was your typical Vietnamese style where they leave you alone unless you aggressively wave them down for something. A pho restaurant that I've been to many times over my time in Orange County. It is on the right hand side of Brookhurst heading north, visible by the bright blue neon that is covering each window pane. Parking lot is a little bit cramped and there's a lot of other businesses in the little strip mall. Parked nearby and walked inside. There's a waiting area with a small temple set up (lol) and you walk forward to get seated. Never have had to wait for seating here! The dining area is a wide and spacious area with lots of chairs and seats. It's relatively clean but you can tell it's an old establishment. It looks to be family run since I always see people just chilling at the restaurant! Pho Tai (3.5/5) - soup was okay, not too bad. It kind of left an okay-ish aftertaste in my mouth. Noodles were also an okay al dente but maybe a bit on the softer side. The meat was already cooked when it got to the table so by the time I got to the last few pieces, the meat was tough at that point. Egg Roll (4/5) - yummy egg roll! The outside was crispy and crunchy with the center being pretty flavorful. They served it with lettuce, mint, cilantro, and some fish sauce. Putting everything together (protip - add the pickled veggies in the fish sauce) and eating it all at once was AMAZING. Overall - good place but not the best pho restaurant ever. A great place to have some good & cheap pho! I ordered the #4, which pretty much came with flank, brisket, and tripe. The broth was flavorful and overall everything was delicious! We also ordered some egg rolls for the table, and that was pretty good as well. This place offers a free drink - awesome! Despite this "free" drink, I wish I ordered something else other than the Thai Iced Tea. It was a bit diluted for my taste. We've been coming here for years and it has never disappointed. The food is good and service is fast. It's not the prettiest restaurant and the servers don't give me the warm and fuzzies, but it always fulfills my Vietnamese food cravings. I like their broken rice dishes as well as the pho. Used to be our fav Vietnamese place for many many years. Even after covid it was still pretty good. Unfortunately now it's not even close to what it used to be. In addition upon requesting for my check, they gave me the amount written in Vietnamese language, so I ask the male cashier for an itemized check and he got upset threw the receipt & pen to me... it's been raining like crazy in OC so we were definitely craving some hot pho. this was one of the spots open late, no wait at around 9pm. i always get pho tai and a side of bo vien (beef balls). I love sipping on the pure broth of the bo vien (since my pho bowl is dressed with sriracha and hoisin), it is soooo good for the soul. we also asked for the white onions in vinegar, but i didn't know how to say it in vietnamese so i think that's why we didn't get it, but that's okay. soup was great, prices and size were great as well. read more

Pho? I have to admit the food is good along with the price. BUT here are a few of my issues about this place. The parking really sucks if you get there during rush hour. The Liquor store across from them are just idiots and makes threats to you if you park in front of their business. BUT, once you get your food they are hard to ask for anything else. You have to ask for your bill or just walk up to the register and pay. Especially for the a large. Don't really see that in SF. The foods came out fast. Our drinks came after our food even though we order our drinks at the same time as we order our food. I craved pho last midnight and thank goodness Viet soups were looking down on me that night cause Pho 54 was open. And no, I did not have to come running cause they were closing in 30 minutes. They're open til 3. I don't know if this is unusual here but I live in West LA and these kinds of blessing just don't usually happen whenever you want to. I had meatball and brisket pho - my go to. It was toasty, my heart melted. There was so much meat in my bowl. It was both a blessing and a curse. I'm used to running out of meat before noodles but this time, I ran out of noodles. I was very happy about it. Curse, because you know, I'd rather eat less red meat but whatever. I'd say the actual broth was a little bland, but I drench mine in hoisin and sriracha anyways so those basked the flavor regardless. I think the best part of this whole thing was my gigantic "regular" bowl cost me $6.50. WHAT? Am I overreacting? Cause I'm not used to this kind of spoiling. Decent spot to get a bowl of pho late at night. They're open until 3AM, which is fantastic for long nights of debauchery or sudden hunger pangs and fast food isn't enough to mitigate a hangover or satiate your stomach. The bowls are priced very fairly here, with a regular at $6 and a large for $7.50. If you're really hungry, there's an extra large option. The broth is flavorful but lacks the richness and depth that's found at other places. The broth comes with sliced green onions and scallions for extra flavor. If you want more flavor, you can ask for a bowl of fatty oil (nuoc beo). The noodles are very firm here, but that doesn't mean they're undercooked. Firmer noodles are generally better for slurping and they don't get soggy from the broth. All the meat options are available, and I recommend the tai (rare steak) and gau (fatty brisket). The tai is thinly sliced, flash cooked in broth and then added to your bowl to continue cooking as you eat. I find that it's flashed too long by the kitchen prior to service, so by the time you get it, it's overdone. The fatty brisket has a lot of flavor, which can be attributed to the copious amounts of fat that surrounds each piece. Each bowl comes with an extraordinary amount of meat, which is a very pleasant and welcome surprise. Although the portions are generous, the meat is still of above average quality; it's tender, flavorful and tastes fresh. The only disappointment is the veggies you get to compliment your pho. They're not the freshest around, and the leaves show signs of age. The colors aren't vibrant and the flavors are a bit muted. Bean sprouts can be cooked upon request. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the bowls come out really fast. I've never been the biggest Pho fan because generally when I do noodles, I am more of a ramen guy. So, this place is open until 3am and they are cash only. Parking was easy and it is hard to miss with the bright signage. Walked in and was seated right away. There was a decent amount of people here. So this could be a late night hang with good food. I sat down and I was given a menu and asked what I wanted to drink. Got my water and they were ready for my order. The guy pretty much ordered for me because there was a good amount of options and he pointed to one (pretty much like "get this one") and I just rolled with it. It was with rare steak and then I got a side of egg rolls. Shortly after, they brought my veggies, then my bowl and quickly after that... my egg rolls. I put my toppings in, tasted the broth and I was set. First taste of the broth was very good. Not heavy or bland. Pretty light with flavor. Added some sauce and it was off to the races. The bowl was flavorful and the noodles were cooked well. I would come back to this spot to try other variations even tho I didn't have anyone check on me during the meal. I'm pretty sure you would just have to flag them down. I hate to say it and I'm sure others would agree. When I come to Asian places, service isn't something that I expect to be spectacular.
