I ordered chicken pho with side of veggies. Within a few hours I started to get uncomfortably bloated and then a low grade fever , really bad muscle aches in my back and then finally I threw up (what was the pho I had from this place). A few days after and I am still not feeling 100 percent. Anyway, Sucks because I came Here a few times before and it was fine but yeah I came to learn from others after who live around the area that they've been known for reusing their vegetables which makes sense seeing how i ordered veggies, anyway I will never go here again. I usually eat pho at Pho 79, Pho 86, and Pho Quang Trung, but yesterday I wanted to try a different place. I called to order two 'Pho Dac Biet' and add on 'bo vien' from this restaurant. I am not sure how much they charged for 'bo vien' but the total was $33. 'Bo vien' is my favorite so I always add it to my pho. However, when I got home, there was no 'bo vien' at all. I was very disappointed and called them. The man who answered the phone (I assume he was the owner) said sorry and promised that next time, they would include the 'bo vien' for free. Pho tai fix for this gal. I like the fact that the place opens early, and they are ready to serve hot bowls of soups right away. Been here many times, never been disappointed--always satisfied. I usually get the large bowl, always finish it and sometimes I'll other another bowl cause it was that good. Their rice noodle are simple and thin, broth is flavorful, meats are hearty alot, and the basils/bean spouts/slice jalapenos/limes are fresh. One of pho place I'll recommend to eat. Stopped in for lunch. Super clean restaurant. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Standard Pho menu. I choose to try the charbroiled pork rice plate. It am with a little bowl of beef pho broth. The food was delicious, and the Pho broth was rich and flavorful. They also have a nice outdoor seating area. My lunch with a Diet Coke was $13.75. Simple, home style pho for a great price. I've been coming here since I was a college student and love that they're always open and accessible. When I come by myself I order a small pho, but when my partner and I come together we usually order a side of eggrolls to share in addition to our individual phos. My go to is #14, which is pho with rare steak and tendon. The tendon is packed with collagen, which is great for your skin! Would recommend for families or groups of friends for a casual lunch or dinner. Beware, cash only! There is an ATM inside but I'd imagine you'd save money on the transaction fee by grabbing cash from your bank beforehand. read more

Wow did this soup come out fast! Ever since i was a kid coming here, i always remember how quick their bowl of pho would come out and im glad some things never change. There was even an old lady behind the counter who i recognize from almost 15 years ago still here. I knoa because even her haircut hasnt changed lol. Anyway! So since its been almost 8 or so years since coming here, i have had many experiences from other pho sources. I could have sworn that ANY pho bowls from Cali would trump all else outside of Cali. But what i got kind of shocked me. The broth was heavy on the cloves flavor and not as savory from the meats as i was hoping. As i made my way thru my bowl, i found there was quite a good amount of tendon and tripe. About half the amount of meat. The meat had the usual few slices of rare steak but also an absurd amount of fatty beef cuts. That kind of sucked, not gonna lie lol. But you know what? I only paid $6 for the same size bowl as what I have been accustomed to pay now outside of Cali. PLUS, they had an amazing spread of thai basil AND culantro! Culantro is hard to come by anywhere land locked. But man does that taste amazing in pho if you ever do get it! I forgot how amazing white and fresh bean sprouts can be in Cali too lol. So, not the best bowl of pho, but i am quite content with a very generous bowl of pho AND this magical culantro# read more

I asked for chicken pho soup, just the soup to go and the lady in the front gave me a hard time. She also gave me an attitude when I asked for 8 soups to go without any fixings like the noodles and meat. She kept arguing with me telling me it's just chicken broth. I don't know. I feel awkward even coming back to this place. The food is good, but the service isn't great. Especially if I'm going to get attitude for just asking for the soup to go. A decent spot for decent pho. They're open late (till 3 AM) so if you're feeling the drunchies or want to eat some pho after going to Disneyland or something, Pho 54 is the place for you. The pho isn't out of this world but it gets the job done. There's plenty of seating in the restaurant...almost feels like it's two restaurants combined into one. There's a little outdoor patio area that could be nice on a cool day. The service is FAST. You order, chat for about 2 minutes, and your pho is delivered to your table. They must have everything set up back there and all they got to do is pour in the boiling soup. I got an order of the #1 xe lua (XL), which is actually an extra-large bowl of the pho dac biet (special) and it was good. Nothing jumps out as it being spectacular though. I love this place for the foods and customer service from managers/owners. They're very professional. I was unsatisfied with my order one time and I told the manager at the register. He did not get offended. He politely apologized and corrected the mistake. He had my food redone to my satisfaction. I have been going here on and off for over 20 years under a few different managements. This current management is by far the best. Pho 54 has been around for as long as I can remember, from being a kid, and now into my 30s. I always crave this spot when I know it's late and nothing is open. Pho 54 opens until midnight and you can always spot this location from the street by its blue neon lights. Upon arrival, plenty of parking in the front but it always seems full haha. As you enter, it's a typical Asian restaurants, the decor is still stuck in the early 2000. But I came for the pho, the broth here, tastes flavorful and not overly salty or bland. They give you a gain of meat when you order pho tai. It's either a small bowl for 11 or big for 12 I believe. I notice more non Asians going here and I'm happy to see they enjoy a good bowl of pho or viet food. Definitely recommend this spot! read more

Lots of options on the extensive menu, but I decided to go for the classic pho combo of slices of rare steak, well-done flank, brisket, tendon & tripe. A regular bowl is only $6.50, but they also have large and x-large for a buck more. The best way to defrost yourself after spending a night out partying in the cold~ I personally think this is the best Pho I had. The soup is really tasty without too much MSG. The beef is tender, soft and not overly dry. The noodle, however, is cooked too soft for my personal taste. I like soft noodles, but when Pho is cooked too soft, it turns mussy which is nasty. I only wish there was more soup in my bowl. I'll definitely come back here again if I'm craving for some Pho after 8:00 (before 8 I'll go to my favorite Pho place!). Open late and on Thanksgiving day! I haven't been back to this establishment for 10 years! They have an outside patio now and renovated the inside of the restaurant to have more room. I remember back in the days, it used to be so crowded that there was no elbow space to eat! Their beef pho is still as good as ever. I also tried their spring rolls with pork and shrimp. It came with a yummy peanut hoisin sauce mixture with roasted peanuts and some pickled carrots. Mmm, light and refreshing for any time of day. First time here and I'd say it's pretty darn good. We were greeted and seated quickly and then when ordered in a short time after. The food came in good time and the broth was super hot, which is so nice considering other places often are not on par with the temp. Oh also, this place is open late and had lots of locals :) We ordered two #1 pho and egg rolls. So good and super satisfying. I am a sucker for soup noodles. There is just something about soup noodles that just immediately soothes my soul with just one bite. A hard day last week left me wanting for just that sort of comfort and I found my way to Pho 54. AMBIENCE: It is tucked in a little plaza, but you are able to see Pho 54 right off the street. It also has its signature neon blue lighting around the restaurant, so you won't miss it. I wouldn't say anything really stood out about the decor. There are televisions inside and the interior/booths looks a little worn. FOOD QUALITY: I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered the #3 and Thai Iced Tea. The first thing I always do at any pho restaurant is taste the broth. If the broth is on point, then I know that the rest of my meal will be delicious. My first sip of the soup was heaven. It wasn't too salty and it was hot. I also liked the fact that they were very generous with their meat - layers and layers of it on top of my noodles! For $5.75, that is a great deal! The Thai Iced Tea was refreshing as well. I hate drinking Thai Iced Teas that taste like someone just poured a vat of syrup in it, so it was nice pairing this cold drink with my hot soup. I love that Pho 54 is open late, and the food is served quickly so you can get in and out if you want to. It is a bit run down and doesn't feel super clean these days. I feel like the food quality has gone down in recent years, or my standards have gone up. The broth is still great but the meat in the Pho Tai is nothing special, and arrives at your table already cooked well-done. I also think that the size of the small bowl has gone down. Now that I have tried many other pho places, this one doesn't quite measure up but it will do when you need a place to coat your belly after drinking. Best phó ever since the early 80s. I have been going here since hs. It's a very family oriented feel restaurant and they know your "usual" order. Note there is An ATM machine inside since this is a cash only restaurant. Decor 5/5 Pretty modern look and seats are well maintained. Tv to watch the latest games ! A friend wanted Pho and I obliged even after having Pho for lunch already. She mentioned that she used to go to Pho 54 years ago and she really wanted me to try it to see how I liked it. First, service was the usual that I experience at Pho houses. Pretty much take my order, give me my food and nothing more. Nothing at all. I didn't even get to ask for the free drink that's advertised. No worries though - water didn't taste too bad - like some places where the water tastes like it came straight from the toilet. Pho came out faster than we had time to get ourselves situated with the bean sprouts, basil and condiments. Nice and hot though and that's what matters to me. The taste was OK. I added extra hot sauce for some kick and I have to mention, lots of meat though a little stingy on the noodles. Like I mentioned, it was OK. Not bad, but not the greatest I've had. read more
