Tasty Vietnamese food in a small shopping strip. The service is good and I love the combination pho and a side of spring rolls.

Went here today for lunch after my MCAT Winter bootcamp class with my mom. The outside of Pho Apple is quite nice, but the inside is a bit small so definitely plan to get there early so you can get a table. We were seated quickly, but it took a while for the waiter to take our order. Honestly, the one thing that this place could improve on would be the quality of the service. For example, once my mom and I got our food, they immediately gave us the bill and no one ever came around to refill our waters. However, the highlight of this place is definitely the food and drink. My mom ordered the Vietnamese Iced coffee, while I ordered the Thai Tea. I thought the Vietnamese Iced coffee was a bit too strong for my taste and I definitely enjoyed the Thai Tea because it was not too sweet and had a strong tea flavor. In regards to the food, we got the shrimp spring roll appetizer and seafood pho with beef broth. The shrimp spring roll is an amazing appetizer and comes with some of the best peanut sauce I have ever tasted at a Vietnamese restaurant. In addition, the pho was reasonably priced and came with a good amount of seafood. I was surprised that it came with 3 shrimp, lot of fish balls, and some squid as well. The broth is also very flavorful and not too salty as well. Overall, if you are in the Plano neighborhood and are looking for a nice place for pho, I highly recommend trying out this place. Although the service may not be terrific, they definitely make up for it with their genuine food quality and reasonable prices. read more

Recently moved to west plano and found this pho place. IN LOVE!!! The steak egg rolls are phenomenal and the steak pho is just so good.

Had a great dinner here, quick and friendly service, great menu options. We had the chili lemongrass chicken vermicelli and the #22 steak, flank and tendon pho. Both came out hot and delicious! The pho has sides that come with it (i.e. the lime, cilantro, basil, and bean sprouts) which was fresh and tasty. The broth for the pho was fresh and didn't taste overloaded with msg. The pho is alright for what it is. BUT they gave me HALF of one meatball & no tripe in the entire bowl of my combination pho. BTW I wrote this review before we'd even left lol the staff is also the rudest I've ever encountered. Like they don't even care enough to provide you basic service. I've eaten at many pho and Vietnamese restaurants around DFW. This was one of the worst. Before I being on how bad the food was, the thing that really bothered me about this place more than anything had nothing to do with the food directly, but how I was treated. I was pretty hungry so I planned on ordering a grilled chicken bahn mi, pho, and a sushi roll. I told the waitress I wanted a 15 (the grilled chicken bahn mi), and when I was ordered the pho she balked at me asking how I could eat that much food. I said I was hungry and tried to order a roll when she said, "No, that's too much food for you" and went on to my take the rest of my parties order. I told her I wanted a roll regardless and ordered one anyway. When food started coming out I got handed a plate of chicken teriyaki. She got my order wrong cause she thought I said 50 and not 15. I don't like wasting food so I said I'd to take it home to my mom and for her to just put it in a to-go box and bring me out a bahn mi please. Not a big deal right? I agree, mistakes happen and I normally would just brush it off especially when someone doesn't have the command of English language that I do. What I have a problem with is her comment of "No, that's too much food for you." If I'm paying for a meal, I'll order whatever the hell I want. No server has the right to make commentary on my eating habits. You're there to bring out my food, refill my beverage, ask if my meals okay, etc and not to watch my calories. You're a server, not a nutritionist. To everyone that says the prices are fair, practically the entire menu is $.50 to a $1.00 more than the normal Vietnamese place. It may not seem like much, but the food wasn't good (which I'll explain further) to justify paying a little more. I won't even get into the sushi prices cause they're ridiculously overpriced. A stock tip I can give is invest your money into Hellman's, Miracle Whip or any other mayonnaise company cause this place definitely boosts their stock. Their sushi and bahn mi's are soaked in mayonnaise. Let me repeat, the sushi is soaked in MAYONNAISE, not a spicy mayo mixture or anything of the sort on the sushi. I was disgusted beyond belief and I'm a guy who likes mayonnaise on my burger. I paid $16 for a specialty roll that I didn't even eat half of. The food is sub-par, really lacking flavor on all three items. I only got maybe 4-5 strips of beef in my pho that weren't even that big to begin with which is skimping beyond belief, the sushi tasted horrible (as stated above) and the bahn mi had practically no filling and was dripping with mayonnaise. If you want better Vietnamese food, stick to Bistro B or Pho Pasteur cause Pho Apple isn't even in their league. I'm not coming back. read more

Their curry chicken soup lacked flavor and their chicken fried rice tasted like it was leftover from the night before, the restaurant was not clean and the service was not good at all. This place is very busy during lunch! With that said it still shouldn't have taken 15 minutes for my pho to come out. If you've been to more than a couple of pho restaurants you know it takes 5 minutes max for them to bring your food out to you. The noodles are seriously sitting in a bowl in the kitchen, all you have to do is add soup and meat. I know 15 minutes isn't really that long of a wait but I'm comparing it to all the other pho restaurants I've been to in my lifetime. If they all can do it, you can do it too. We ordered their special: spring roll/eggroll + small pho + soda for $9.99. We never got our soda even though we reminded the waiter for it. I just moved back to Dallas from Houston, where it seems like there are pho restaurants on every corner. I'd never really gotten into pho until this past year, and I was afraid that the pho selection in Dallas wouldn't measure up. Thank god that a) this place is right around the corner and b) it's absolutely delicious. It's quickly becoming a regular place for me. Even though the egg rolls are a little smaller and not quite as flavorful as what I've had elsewhere, they're still pretty good. The pho is amazing though. Even the small was more than what I could finish. I'm also a little weird about my pho. I love the beef broth but always substitute barbequed pork for my meat, which they're always happy to accommodate. Everything tastes super fresh as well. And I know this is a really small, nit-picky thing, but I'm not big on chili paste or sriracha, so I wish they had hot chili oil on the table as well since I do like a little spice in my soup. Not a big deal though. Since I typically get takeout, I'll probably just invest in a jar next time I'm at the supermarket. As far as I know, they don't deliver, which is a shame. Any time I've gone in (including Friday and Saturday nights), it hasn't been terribly busy, and because it's surrounded by such a residential area, I would love to see them add a delivery option. I am constantly looking for more pho restaurants in the Dallas area. I work in Plano and this is on my way to the tollway. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and given a menu. While I waited for my to-go order, I was brought an iced tea! I ordered some classic pho to-go (beef noodle soup with rare steak) with some shrimp spring rolls. I was not able to start eating the food for at least 45 minutes and the broth was still very hot when I arrived at my destination! The meat was tender and was cooked just enough by the broth! My spring rolls with peanut sauce were good. The veggies inside were nice and crisp and the rice paper was not too tough. There are a few pho restaurants in the area that I consider to have slightly better pho, but none of them are on my way home! I will definitely stop here again. read more

Hungry and desperate for good food, I turned to Yelp and routed my way to Pho Apple. Not only was the food sub-par it was also expensive and made me regret passing up McDonalds. I ordered the Stir Fried Tofu Flat Noodles and the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio ( Vermicilli with Grilled Pork and Egg Rolls) to go along with a Thai Tea. The flat noodles were flavorless with no distinguishable flavor that I've ever had before. The few vegetables that were added were old and wilted. No fear, however, because the mountain of fried tofu that they added on top would save the day, right? Wrong, they were soaked in more of the flavorless sauce and tasted a day away from being thrown in the trash. Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio is suppose to be a large meal. The amount of vermicelli they served wasn't enough to feed a child. The pork was dry, thin and sparse. The vegetables were fun sized and looked like garnishes. When there is a bad taste in your mouth, you take a long drink to wash down the taste. Just don't wash it down with the Thai Tea at Pho Apple. It was entirely composed of sugar. Even after watering it down with more ice and half & half it was undrinkable. read more

I have been to Pho Apple at least once a week since I began working in Plano. Everytime I go there, I am greeted by the same three ladies who are always smiling. They have excellent pho with a consistent, tasty broth. I swear by their spring rolls which are always fresh. I've had only one complaint with the entire place. I once asked for iced jasmine tea, a regular item on their menu. I was handed a steaming plastic cup of hot jasmine tea and another identical cup filled with ice. Really. I don't think so. To the embarrassment of my co-worker, I asked the waitress what exactly I was supposed to do with it. She gestured to put the steaming hot liquid into the ice. Well, first, plastic + heat = burned hand, and if you pour steamy liquid on ice all you get is a watery mess. The waitress argued with me that this was correct and I firmly said no and asked for it to be taken off my tab because I did not want it. A small skirmish between the waitress and I resulted in the manager (owner?) coming over and apologizing. I'm guessing it was just a fluke. I have since returned (twice) since this incident, and all the ladies know I want iced jasmine tea and they scramble to get it. It appears that my reputation precedes me. Darn. read more

My first time eating pho so I don't know how authentic this pho is. I was in the mood for something soupy and this hit the spot! Upon entering, I noticed this was a nice, clean spot, nothing fancy. A couple of flat screens on the walls. We placed a to-go order which consisted of an order of the crispy egg rolls and pho with chicken. My husband ordered the stir fried udon with shrimp. I didn't taste my husband's order but he said it was good and he liked it! The egg rolls were good...I couldn't discern the ingredients, but whatever they were, it was tasty. The order was packaged nicely as the noodles, chicken, jalepenos, etc were placed in a separate container from the broth. When we arrived home, I placed everything in a bowl and was quite satisfied with the meals that cost about $22. read more

I really enjoy this Pho spot. I always pick up or dine in. My favorite is the number 26 Pho and the Grilled Pork Chops with rice! The only thing about Pho here is, they do not put a ton of meat and I always have to get extra meat on the side. Went here for lunch on a saturday. We had a late lunch. I ordered the A1 which is a pho that has all the toppings: brisket, steak, meatballs, etc. Pho broth was delicious and the best i've had so far. It had beautiful richness, it was savory and tasted very soulful. Also, be sure to take advantage of the lunch special. The lunch special includes iced tea, two spring rolls and the soft drink included. Rachel ordered the mealballs pho. What i really liked about this place is the pho toppings. The toppings tasted fresh and not frozen and bland. Often this is the case at some pho places. What i love about pho is the toppings and this place has some tasty beef meatballs as well. Service was pretty good. Quick and was courteous. Didn't take long for our food to come out as well. The prices here aren't too bad it's 6.95-7.95 for a large bowl. and a buck or more for an x-large bowl. They seem to only offer two sizes large and x-large. The decor of this place is pretty nice. They restaurant seems to be clean and better kept than some of the counterparts around town. Looking for good Vietnamese food? Yes you can fine it here. We were craving for Vietnamese food this night so we decided to try Pho Apple because it was close to our place. Came in with a group of 5 and we were sat right away with menus and waters. After looking through their extensive menu, I decided on the spiced roasted chicken (10.95$) and my friends got their fried pork & crispy egg rolls vermicelli (8.95$), and pho combination (9.95$). I also ordered their Asian style chicken wings (6.95$) for appetizer because I'm always up for some chicken wings. After 15 mins, we got our food and I have to say it was pretty good. The chicken wings had a nice sweet and savory flavor that I really liked. The spiced roasted chicken was crispy and nicely portioned and the vermicelli also tasted good with a nice serving of meat. The pho was somewhat disappointing because although it was tasty, it was too small of a portion for large at 9.95$. The staff are nice, friendly and attentive. The restaurant also had a nice atmosphere and clean compared to others. All and all, thumbs up for Pho Apple. read more

Why they even have japanese food on the menu is completely beyond me. Their Pho is great, better than Que Huong, not as good as Pasteur. You wont be disappointed on any level. They also serve the egg rolls with all of the fixings which is a big plus. The filet beef for the Pho was a stand out on the most recent visit.. The staff/owners are super nice. I once went in to pick up a to go order and they noticed i was a little sick, so they poured me some Jasmine tea. They have a customer for life. read more

So when a pho craving kicks in, you have to go. Even in 90 degree weather. I have my usual favorite pho places, but I decided to give this place a try. I always pass it on the way to Walmart, and the name intrigued me (I wonder why it's called Pho Apple). Anyhow, I went with my friend for dinner. My go to meal is, you guessed it, Pho Tai. We also ordered fried spring rolls. They were like short tequitos- very small and overpriced for what you get. Then came the standard side dish with bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, Thai basil, and lime. It seemed like a toddler plated the dish. Not that it was messy. It literally looked like there was half a cup of bean sprouts and a few sprigs of herbs. For two people! I am used to the bean sprouts spilling over the edge of the plate, so this was disconcerting. Hoping this wasn't the case for the pho, it made its way to my table. It wasn't steaming hot; just hot enough. Yes, even in the summer, I want my pho hot. On the greasy side, the broth was not as clean as I like. It was a standard, if not subpar pho. Like mom would make, without the love. I don't see myself coming back here. There are far superior places that serve clean soup and ample plates of bean sprouts. The staff seemed lackadaisical; indifferently polite. We had to ask for our water; like they forgot they had to give it. Strange. Anyway, it wasn't terrible, so I give it 3 although I wish I could give it 2 1/2 stars. read more

Was expecting much more based off the reviews than what I'd received. My order was for delivery. The broth was lukewarm and boring, and the accompanying beef and chicken was tasteless and bland. The noodles were so tightly packed together, I had to use a knife to cut them into chunks. The packaging for delivery is pathetic. Please use and actual bowl, not a narrow / tall styrofoam container which dissipates heat too quickly. I guess it's also too much to include an actual wide dipping spoon for the broth. Plano, I feel sorry for you if this is the best Pho you have at your disposal.. cause that's exactly where this meal belongs. read more

I love this place. I am a vegan and they make the best pho with vegetable broth and tofu spring roles. It is my favorite pho of anyplace in town. The manager always remembers me and what I want to eat and even though they don't offer delivery, if I call and they are not busy, they will do it especially for me. Don't miss trying Pho apple. Absolutely delicious! My dad took me here several months ago and I fell in love right away. I think I have probably eaten here more than he has now. I usually order take-out and it only takes them about 10 minutes to be done! I normally order #80, the lemon grass chile chicken stir fry, it's my favorite. It's already spicy but I always ask for them to make it extra spicy and they always come through! Everything I get is always fresh and great quality, I have never had a bad "batch". The ambiance here is relaxing and there are incense in the front which makes me feel at home. The workers are very polite and are always walking around to see if you needed anything. I'm not quite sure... I was very skeptical when I saw pho and sushi, but both are pretty decent. Rolls are of good quality but very small. However, they're cheap, so you can't expect too much. This wasn't bad it just want good either. I ordered the grilled pork spring roll to start with and it was pretty bland. Usually the grilled pork will carry a lot of flavor but this one was lacking. I looked at the different pho options and I typically order the rare beef at other places. I couldn't find it on this menu so I asked the waitress if their round steak was the rare kind that then cooks in your broth. She nodded and said yes. I'm pretty sure she didn't understand a word I said because when it came out it was completely cooked steak. The broth was pretty weak and needed to be doctored up a good bit. And I guess getting a refill on my water was too much because even though I asked for more water it never came. read more
