It was my first and last time I order from this restaurant. I phone order 3 rice dishes (grilled pork, yang chow, and spicy fried rice), 2 donuts, and 1 tofu baguette. When I pick up I saw a flyer that says buy 2 baguettes get 1 passion fruit juice free so why not. I added a pork baguette while I was paying. In less than a minute, I received my order. I thought that was fast, the customer before me still haven't received her order yet. I went home and when I open the pork baguette I found small bugs crawling all over it. The other dishes were fine, but I throw everything out just in case. I really would not recommend this restaurant. We ordered yang chow Fried rice and I was told they are out of rice and rice dishes. My kids were very disappointed. I hurriedly ordered stir fried noodles for the kids. So I substituted my rice, from my dish,for egg rolls, which is what the cashier suggested. I also ordered pho and a ban mi. Food came slowly. As I got my dish, it arrived with rice. I totally understand, but what they failed to do was communicate with their customers. Inform us they're running behind before taking our orders, offer customers free drinks...do something beside staying in silent! I did not encounter any of the previous negatives those other folks experienced and today was perhaps my 3rd or 4th time here. Tonight I orderd via the YElp option at precisely 7:30pm. I had : Special Combination Pho (Rare steak, well done brisket, beef ball, and rice noodle in beef broth) Add: Egg Rolls (2 Pcs)... ($1.25 Extra) Add Extra: Well-Done Brisket ($2.00 Extra) 1... $11.24 I arrived for pick up precisely at 7:40pm.There was a line almost out the door once I entered. So I just asked an employee if they had a special take out area. After I told them my name I was priority serviced by a register. My order was ready to go. I must have spent 2-3 min max inside. I took a risk and didn't check my order before leaving,,, but back at work everything I had ordered was there. I was pleased to see a very healthy sized portion of Pho broth int's own separet container and a separet container of the noodles, peppers, sweet basil, peppers and beef brisket. It was all there and packed with utensils and condiments. It was a no fuss no muss drama free experience. The Pho was good, tasty... I've had more flavorful Pho broths at some of the other established Pho restaurants in San Gabriel and Monterey Park,,, but so what ? This place satisfied my craving. Bang mi sandwiches are excellent. They used to have some consistency problems but seemed to have that fixed. Bread is light and tender. Not chewy like some other places. Not the traditional Che Cali I am used to. I usually go to their locations in Alhambra, West Covina, and Santa Fe springs. This one is much more expensive for the same food at even a lower quality per my current experience. I ordered three Banh mis as I usually get the buy two get one free. Though the deal is still here the sandwiches are a dollar more expensive than the other places. Nothing too big but then the phó which is usually on special after 4pm was a solid $9 dollars. Once more more expensive than most places. The egg rolls were but two for two dollars so the options to buy one or an odd number is not here. The banh mi was not full of meat or veggies. I felt I was eating more baguette than anything else. The egg rolls I did purchase were cold as you can see we're not properly heated in my pictures. Finally the pho was the only reason I'm giving my review 2 stars instead of one as it was good and properly packaged or me to take home to go. Bahn mi sandwiches are really good - the bread is what makes it taste so amazing. They also have yummy meat pie pastries and curry chicken pastries that I would recommend trying. As the cold weather is finally approaching I'll try their pho as well. I will say their customer service is not the greatest as a previous time I was here I made eye contact with multiple people who did not greet me or at least acknowledge me in anyway as I stood there for at least 5 to 10 minutes waiting to order, AND witnessing an employee take a PHONE order before mine. They have a self serve kiosk that's far to the left of the registers and I never even noticed it. We got the Vegan Spicy Pho and the Shrimp Spicy Pho. The food was delicious, great taste and large portions. The cashier is a little hard to understand and seems to get a little annoyed but not too big of a deal. We also got 2 milk teas they have buy one get one free offer. I'm such a fan of pho that I may have high expectations when it comes to my pho. I was really in the mood for pho (when am I not) when I came here, but to my disappointment, they really did not hit the spot. I've had pho in Vietnam, home cooked pho, pho in San Gabriel, Alhambra, and Garden Grove (the asian area!).. most of the pho in those places were AMAZING. The pho here however did not taste fresh. I ordered the S2 (rare beef and brisket) and the texture of the beef was really chewy and tasted stale. The noodles were okay, but also did not taste really fresh.. just from the texture and the amount of time it took for the noodles to soften up in the soup you could tell it wasn't that fresh... and last but not least.. the soup was very average. The soup is such a pivotal part to the pho experience.. This soup seemed to lack a lot of the subtle complexities of a properly made broth as well as the richness. Usually I'm lapping up the soup trying to stop myself, but this broth was meh. I had to add Sriracha and hoisin sauce to the soup which I usually never do. There is a Banh Mi Che Cali in Alhambra which I do like. Good prices and I think the pho is better at the Alhambra one. I'd say overall the food wasn't terrible, but did not meet might expectations. Also, the upside of this place is that it's conveniently located in Pasadena so if ur in Pasadena and don't wanna make it down to San Gabriel, it's an option. read more

I have found that most places can do the meatloaf combo sandwiches well, but the taste of the bbq pork sandwich tends to vary widely between restaurants. All the items are higher priced here probably due to its location. Parking here can be a real pain during school hours. This is formerly a Thai Restaurant. The Chicken Pho was half off as part of their Opening Special. The broth on this soup was boiling hot and the chicken was all White Meat with no skin or bones. I didn't care for the rice noodles finding them to be of low quality. Despite all this, this is like the 5th Pho Restaurant in Pasadena. The entrance/door is located on the side of the building. Walked in and was immediately sat (we had our pick of tables as there was only 1 other table in there). We both ended up ordering the vermicelli noodles with shrimp, egg rolls, and BBQ pork (Bun tom, thit nuong, cha gio). I got a Thai milk tea with mine and the boyfriend got a honey green tea with jelly. Drinks were out quick and the food was quick to follow. It looked amazing right off the bat. The bowls were huge and we soon realized that it was mostly filled with noodles and veg. There was just 1 egg roll, very little pork and shrimp. The shrimp was not seasoned or had any flavor...it resembled boiled shrimp (the same shrimp they use in shrimp fried rice). the BBQ pork wasn't bad.
