Wow, this store's decor is next level. This shop is located in a large plaza adjacent to other small local shops, but once you walk through the doors, it's like you're transported into a fancy restaurant in Ha Noi. Compared to other pho places in this area, Pho Dang is definitely a luxury pho experience. The servers were all friendly and got us our water and sides out as soon as we sat down. Most of the bowls started at $19.50, and could be higher depending on your add-ons. I got a phở tái bò viên and the meat was so tender! They use filet mignon and it was definitely worth the splurge. The broth was very light and distinctly northern style. Although my palette is used to the southern style pho, I enjoyed my meal! read more

Saw this place from a food social influencer that this is the best pho in Bay Area so decided to give it a try. For the food, Broth was very clean and doesn't taste like it's pure MSG broth. The veggies that came with it were pretty fresh. Bean sprouts come out cooked which is a good thing. The meat was also pretty good except that the brisket was too lean for me. I rate the pho a solid 8 out of 10. Service was good. Nothing to complain about. Ambience and decor is very comforting and clean. Their cups for water is pretty cool too. Now for the reason of 3 out of 4 stars. They raised prices by $2 to $22-$23 for a bowl of pho! Not knocking the restaurant for charging what they charge but in my opinion, that's just an insane price for a bowl of pho. Especially when there's an abundance of good pho restaurants around San Jose. If you got deep pockets, then this is a good place to try. The pho here is suuuper flavorful and fragrant. I also love the meat quality; I saw some reviews say the portions are small. Although you can't change the size of the bowl, I have to semi-disagree. They don't give as many noodles as some places, but it was definitely enough and they gave plenty of meat. Drinks are also delicious! We got the egg coffee and the hot ginger lemon tea drink (sorry I forgot the specific name). Service was amazing! Everyone was very attentive and our waiter was so sweet to explain which bowls were his favorite + how to pronounce them in Vietnamese. PHO TAI CHIN: 4.5/5 ($18.50) + MUST try! I love rare steak (tai) and brisket (chin), and both were sooo delish. Rare steak meat melts in your mouth. Brisket tends to be overcooked at pho restaurants but wasn't an issue here + Broth isn't oily so you don't feel super heavy after eating the bowl + I prefer richer broths, but this was really really good. Saw this place on social media and dropped by on a cold rainy night after ice skating at Sharks Ice nearby. I came by at around 9pm on a Thursday so the place was half empty and there was no wait. The pho really hit the spot after being cold and wet all evening. Service is friendly and fast. Prices are a bit high as after tax and tip, this is a $25 bowl of pho but I guess you're paying for it being upscale pho with quality meat. I like that you have the option of the fresh wide noodles or the thin dry noodles, but my waiter didn't point out that they cost extra and I hadn't noticed it on the menu. I just thought he was giving me the option. I ordered the rare steak and oxtail pho. The broth was super flavorful. The rare steak was already in the soup so there was no red to it but it was still super tender. I wasn't a fan of the oxtail as it could have been a bit more tender and was too much work to eat. Overall, this place hit the spot but given the plethora of good pho places in the area, I would probably try out a few others before coming back here. read more

This spot took over a seafood boil spot that I had originally wanted to try for a while. The service was very fast and attentive. The food was also really good, however for some things like fresh noodle it was an extra $2 which I think is a little steep. They also had vinegar garlic that was nice since I've never seen it anywhere else in pho restaurants. The broth to the soup was nice and it seemed very much like they knew what they were doing in the kitchen. We had a party of 7 and they were able to accommodate us quickly. The menu is simple with plenty of choices of pho to pick from and drinks. What makes this spot unique, the only food items are pho. That there is saying something and making it worth it. I ordered the pho tai chin (rare steak & brisket). The first sip of the clear broth had an array of flavors. You can tell that the broth has been cooking hours and so much love is put into it. The meat is tender & juicy with a good size portion. As for the noodles, I opt for the original style instead of fresh. I enjoy the classic feel. My friends ordered the fresh noodles. They mentioned it compliments the soup as well. When I first walked in, I was intrigued by the layout & interior of the restaurant. Very modern compared to other pho spots. Dined in a little after 12pm on a weekday. Good amount of filled tables but no wait at that time. First glance of the menu, I was taken away by the price! Felt like it's a a bit more expensive than what you're used to seeing at most places. You're definitely paying for the ambiance and quality. Ordered the pho tai bo vien (rare steak and beef balls) with regular pho noodles (other option is the fresh wide noodles). I have to say they nailed the broth. Not too oily nor was it sweet or salty. So comforting, clean tasting, and easy to drink. I love my broth hot, which was exactly how it came out! It's also paired with boiled bean sprouts and veggies on the side. They have your usual sriracha and hoisin sauces on the side. In addition, they have pickled garlic and some sort of orange chili sauce. The chili sauce is good! Top tier for their water cups and straws. On a separate day, I ordered pho for takeout. I didn't take any pictures of it but I have to say they pack their to-go's well. They also gave uncooked dry noodles (don't have to worry about getting some overcooked noodles). When I picked it up a little after 2pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was packed! Overall, great customer service for dine-in and takeout. I really enjoyed the pho and would recommend. This place has been all over my social media so I've been wanting to visit. Sadly, it did not live up to the hype at all. What's funny is that I heard someone say "it's totally worth the wait" while they were leaving lol. I really liked the overall ambiance and modern and wood interior, but I didn't like how the chairs didn't fully fit under the tables. This made the space between each table feel more cramped. Our server was nice, attentive, and bubbly. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien and my fiancé ordered the Pho Dac Biet. I liked that our server asked if we wanted steamed or raw bean sprouts, but didn't like that they charged extra for fresh noodles. Each bowl was already so expensive, so paying $2.50 for fresh noodles hurt. I appreciated how much veggies and jalapeño they gave and liked that they provided a jar of pickled garlic. I've never had that as a side before and thought it paired really well with the meat. My broth was pretty salty whereas my fiancé's broth was on the lighter side. It seemed like they didn't give a lot of noodles but the meat quality was good. We both agreed that the food was just alright and we prefer Pho Ha Noi. I once laughed at myself for paying for a $20+ bowl of pho at Treasure Island in Vegas out of hungover desperation, yet today I drove an hr to eat a $20+ bowl of pho. How times (I??) have changed ‍ The ambiance is definitely steps above your no-nonsense pho restaurant where you might feel the need to rinse and wipe your utensils and sauce dishes before using them. The decor is modern and they're definitely going for a more "upscale" feel with ceramic condiment containers and sauce dishes, which prob lends to their slightly higher prices. Food-wise, pho is all they serve, so luckily they do it well. I got the pho tai with flank, fatty flank, and tendon. Friends got the oxtail pho, pho tai with meatball, and the combo with everything, and everybody liked theirs. The meat was high quality and tender (except the fatty flank which was too chewy), the broth was light, and I like that you can sub for the fresh wide noodles (though it's a $2 up charge). But the best parts were the pickled garlic and house made chili sauce. Totally worth the terrible breath, but maybe don't go for a first date. It can probably get pretty busy especially with it being all over social media right now, but our party of 4 went at 1 pm and didn't have to wait. I ordered the last pho on the menu which turned out to be their special. It had tendons, meatballs, flank etc. I also ordered the fresh noodles with it which supposedly they make in house according to an ig reel I saw. The broth was light and tasty. It's a little on the lighter side for me. The noodles were good but kind of too soft and thin. They have hoisin and sriracha but they also have their own spicy sauce and pickled garlic in white vinegar in the jars. The sliced garlics were delicious! I love pickled garlic but I've never had them with my pho. I enjoyed it a lot. The bean sprouts were blanched which is also nice to add to pho since not all pho places blanch them unless you ask. The toppings came in perfect proportion for one person (I was by myself with a kid who shared my bowl). The menu was simple and they offer no other appetizers like spring rolls or egg rolls. It made deciding easy. I like how they open early in the morning because I went to have pho for breakfast at 9:30am when places in Vietnam-town werent open until 10. It was $19.50 for the pho and they didn't charge extra for the fresh noodles. The service was great and even served me warm water with a lid (which I honestly think is pretty wasteful as is their placemats). The utensils, bowls and plates were all well thought out and fancier than any pho place I've been to! Overall, it's a good place to try even just for the ambiance alone. I wish they added appetizers or other offerings. It might entice me to come back. I still have my go to place. But this spot is more conveniently located. read more

I had high hopes for this place after seeing a reel on IG, but I left disappointed. It took a while for them to seat us even though they had two tables ready... when we did get seated, again, they took a while to get to us even though it wasn't super busy. Weird though because another table seemed to have every single worker there going to them. They need to work on their system with the wait staff and bussers because it just seems like a mess. They ran out of a lot of meats around 8 pm. Yelp says they close at 10 on Sundays but they were telling people they were no longer serving right before 9. The pho was bland and considering it is next door to pho Ha Noi, I would opt to go there instead. Cherimoya smoothie wasn't too sweet and had a slight tartness. Doesn't taste artificial. 4/5 The restaurant is nicely decorated and the music isn't too loud. Chairs were really comfortable. This place has potential, but they have some work to do. read more

We often like to try out new spots since we have had almost every single pho spot in the area. What we love most here is the ambiance, everything from their track lighting to their detailed ceiling. I also like that they give a good portion of protein for both of our dishes that we ordered. However, the pho broth needs more star anise to taste more like pho for authenticity instead of heavily fish sauce. As for the bun cha Hanoi, their fish sauce needs to be a bit more salty, less diluted. Every dish needs a good balance of ingredients. Unlike other places, we had to ask for more vegetables (Bun cha Hanoi requires lots of veggies); therefore, we asked for more and $2.50 was added. They gave only 2 small pieces of lettuce and a few other herbs. Overall, decent experience with some improvement needed in a few areas. No wow factor other than decor. Pho Dang has easily made its way to the top of my pho list! Their broth is delicious with savory and sweet notes that doesn't feel heavy at all. It has a clean and refreshing taste reminiscent of the pho broths I've had in Vietnam. The average pho restaurant around San Jose usually leans too heavy toward one flavor profile and I can taste the MSG, but I think Pho Dang's broth balances all the notes well. The meat is good quality, and I love that they serve fresh noodles by default. On the table, they have what I assume is a house-made spicy orange sauce. It definitely has a kick, and I would recommend mixing it with sriracha sauce unless you can handle the spiciness. I love that they have pickled garlic on the table as well. You don't see pickled garlic in many pho places. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but they seem to get people in and out. I love the Indochinese-inspired decor. It reminds me of some the hotels I've stayed at in Vietnam. This is probably the most beautiful pho restaurant I've ever eaten at. The soup was very good, ask for fresh noodles-they're the only way to go, and the beef quality was very good w/clean tasting, light broth. This is Hanoi style- less anise/aromatics in the broth. I'd return for the ambience, but prefer broth in a more southern Vietnamese style, w/lots of flavor from spices, more depth. Also my husband and I both agree that the meat is super tender!!! And they're generous with the meat. We went during the Christmas holidays and there was a huge line outside the block. With the extra amount you're spending per bowl ($19.50), I feel like 2/3 of that is going towards the ambience and 1/3 of that is going towards the food quality. The broth was served at a warm (not boiling hot) temperature, so it's good that they provided cooked bean sprouts on the side - the broth wouldn't have been hot enough to cook the bean sprouts. The coconut juice was sweet and came with coconut meat, I would just ask for a taller straw since it was a little difficult to drink. The water came with a bamboo straw which I really liked. The pho itself was okay. The broth was okay but I love that there was a side of pickled garlic and hot sauce. I like that use authentic pho noodles but for an extra charge. The meat itself was terrible. The tendon still had lots of hair, the filet mignon was super thick and the other meats had parts where I feel like they shouldn't feed to customers. Also a little boujee with the water cup and bamboo straw which I love. I got thr rare steak and meat balls. They use filet mignon for their rare steak and you can really taste the quality.
