This place has amazing pho. I moved here from the sf bay area where there are a ton of Vietnamese restaurants. When I moved to Oregon I had a few OK bowels of pho. When I discovered pho gabo, it was not only the best pho I had since I moved, but was also in the top 3 of any Vietnamese restaurants I've ever had. They give generous portions, excellent service, and good quality broth and noodles. I've had the pho and the grilled pork salad rolls and they're both great. Also, almost every time I've ever ordered NO cilantro at other places, they either give no cilantro but also no onions even if I ask for them. ..or they give onions and forget the no cilantro request. This place really hits the spot on a cold, chilly day! Food: 1) Pho special: The portions are decent and the flavor isn't bad. The pho even comes with a raw egg served separately in a small bowl with beef broth soup. At first I thought it was excessive to serve extra soup with pho, but then I realized it's just a vessel to serve the raw egg. You can mix in the raw egg into your pho and it makes the soup a little thicker and more flavorful. This is the only place that has served pho like this before, it's interesting! 2) Grilled lemongrass chicken/grilled lemongrass pork rice: The grilled chicken and pork both look and taste about the same to me, but both were delicious!! The portions are also pretty good! 3) FREE dessert, flan: Comes in a small plastic sauce cup! It's a nice sweet finish to your meal! Service: Has always been very nice and friendly. The food comes pretty fast too, not too long of a wait. Ambiance: The dining area is just an open space, it's not too heavily decorated, but it's very clean and new. Since it's just an open space dining area though, every time someone opens the door, a huge gust of cold wind chills the entire dining area. But otherwise, I've always been very comfortable dining here. Price: A little pricey for vietnamese food, but I think that is the going rate around here. And since it does seem to be the best pho place in the area, so at least it's worth it. The pho special is around $10.95, I forget how much the rice dishes are. I've been here only once and tried the bun (vermicelli bowl), not the pho. Will update the review when I try the pho. The place is very clean and we were greeting by friendly waitresses. Got here right at 12 and was able to order before the lunch rush came in. It filled up the whole place, so no more "awkward emptiness" other reviews mentioned. Most things cost $8.95 and comes with a free desert which is a small cup of "flan" (note the quotes). The dry noodle bowl came on a pasta plate instead of bowl with decent amount of meat and 2 spring rolls (I did pick 2: spring roll & grilled pork). Taste pretty good, I wish they put more vegetables though. The noodles are slightly thicker than I'm used too, but not a huge deal. Since it's near my work, I might put it into my lunch rotation if I feel like going out. 75 cents more for take out orders. Have to try the pho before I can do my final verdict. My wife and I try to come here at least every other week as this is the only place with Pho she deems that doesn't have a "calcium-like" taste in their noodles like other pho places. She recently came over from Vietnam and would only go to Pho GaBo for this reason. We have tried different dishes from the vermicelli noodles, to the pho, and to their specialty dishes. Their meats for vermicelli dishes is well-seasoned and packed with flavor. I was on a diet restriction at the time and they were accommodating to remove the noodles and add more vegetables for me. Their pho portions are huge and you're getting a greNat value out of it. The broth is very fragrant and flavorful and piping hot (just how we like it). Cuts of meats are tender. My favorite dish of theirs recently is the Mì Gà (egg noodles and chicken soup). Again the broth comes out piping hot. Chicken is fried packed with flavor, and the broth is sooooo good. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for an alternative to pho. Staff has always been helpful and service is great. read more

They are a bit on the spendy side for pho but the quality and portions make it worth it. I've had their pho, vermicelli bowls, bun bo hue, salad rolls, egg rolls and banh mi. They are all delicious. My only complaint is that the regular salad rolls don't come with much meat. I usually get the grilled pork or grilled chicken rolls now because while they are more expensive, they do have more meat in them. read more

Found it by accident while doing grocery shopping & SO glad we walked in. It doesn't look like much from the outside - it's a strip mall after all but the food is the BEST!! We had a couple of their tofu rolls to start & the peanut sauce was hands down the best one I've had in my 30 something years of eating ;) The vermicelli bowls are delicious - large portions and the sauce is definitely where it's at! OK yay I am a fan! OK so this is another Pho house on the great Pho quest for Big Mike. The best park is that they have a great fried house rice and my wife will come and eat here with me. The pho is quit nice with some great flavor the original smell test I thought would be a bit sweet but it turned out to be very deep in flavor and not sweet at all which is a good thing. Love the amount of meet and noodles in this bowl of Pho very generous. I ordered the caramelized honey fish sauce wings and they were very good. Only problem was they were a tad small and very very crisp so the bones snapped but were very good. I will be back for more. Not the best of the best for me but very good and the plus that my wife will come and eat here is an absolute win win win read more

The servers are very sweet and friendly! Food came out quickly! My friends and I ordered: fried tofu, egg rolls, salad rolls. Everything was delicious! I ordered their Weekend Special: Bun Mang Vit (Duck Noodle Soup) absolutely amazing and big portions for the price! Duck was meaty and broth was perfectly seasoned. They're definitely not stingy on the noodles! By the end of our meal, there was no food left over on our bowls or plates! That's how good everything was! My daughter brought me here for lunch since I like Asian soups. Located in the strip mall on 185th where it is always busy so come early or later after the main lunch rush if you are limited on time. Not because of the service but parking. Since my daughter had to get to work I was worry arriving at noon but Pho Gabo had a family of about 7 and just a couple of other tables of two. Surprised they did not have more customers. We were greeted by a young man who let us pick our table. He was very attentive and courteous. My daughter ordered a vermicelli bowl and I had the 'mixed' beef soup. Our food arrived in a timely manner and we had enough to take home for another meal. I am sure the lease is quite high in this area but over $10 for my soup was quite steep and I have had better for less. I understand the bottom line and this area you have to do some volume but for the price of our lunch I rather go to another local business that offers better food with better presentation (yes even for the soup). I am not saying the dishes are not up to par because what we had was good.... but nothing more. I hope they will stay afloat in the competitive business especially in this area. I have walked by this place I don't know how many times and it is always busy and I keep saying "we need to try this place". Well, I am so glad we finally chose Pho Gabo for dinner tonight. The food was amazing, absolutely delicious, healthy and fresh, and very reasonably priced. I am a vegetarian, and a picky one at that , and I was very happy with my dish. I had the Gabo bowl with vermicelli noodles and I chose 2 options, the fried tofu and veggie spring rolls. The tofu and rolls came beautifully arranged on a generous plate of noodles, various crisp greens, bean sprouts, and cilantro topped with peanuts and some other delicious crispy things. I am not sure exactly what they were but yum! There was a very unique sauce served with the dish that was mild and light and a perfect accompaniment along with a generous drizzle of the yummy plum sauce (not too tangy, not too sweet, but juuuust right :) which is right at the table. My husband had the same dish but chose three options with the spring rolls, beef, and honey lemongrass shrimp. He really enjoyed his dish and we spent some time perusing the menu excited to try new things on our next visit! The kiddos loved their kids meals. They each had a huge bowl of pho with vermicelli noodles, one with chicken and one with meatballs, served in a unique and yummy broth. It is only $5.95 and was more than enough to fill them up. The only change I would make to the entire trip is I wish there was a juice or milk drink option for the kids (maybe they do and I missed it?). We don't do soda in our family and eating out is the time we let them have a treat like a chocolate milk or juice with dinner and that is always fun for them. But totally no biggie, I mean their food was great, simple yet hearty and healthy, and they really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially the cool light fixtures, small fountain on the counter, and fun music, and they were perfectly happy with water. The restaurant was pretty busy the whole time we were there but the service was impeccably prompt, the food was very fresh, and the hot things were hot and the veggies were cold and crisp and it was just delightful. I really want to go back for the Vietnamese hot coffee with condensed milk as well as the veggie Pho. I ordered a honeydew blended boba tea for dessert to-go after our meal and it was so so yummy. My hubby had the Taro flavor which was also really good. Finally, I wish I could remember our amazing servers name. She was seriously on point. She was so sweet, especially with the kids, and she was waiting on the entire dining room without skipping a beat or losing her friendly warm smile. Service is as or more important to me than the food when I eat out. Life is stressful and when my family and I go out to eat a sit down meal with service, it is more than just a meal. It means I don't have to cook or do dishes and clean (for the 3rd or 4th time in the day between homeschooling my kindergartener who has special needs and momming my pre-k lil guy) for an hour after I get the kids down. It means I get to sit and just enjoy my family and relax and really enjoy each bite of a plate of fresh hot food instead of a lukewarm soggy dish after taking care of someone who forgot to wash their hands, and then someone else needs to potty, and then someone else needs water, and then someone else accidentally spilled, and then while I am cleaning that the other one spills, etc (and both kids are going through a "mommy ooooonly" stage)...... lol. Toddlers. Anyways, I really appreciated the service and friendly atmosphere here. Everyone smiles and they are so kind and it was just very enjoyable. The reason I gave 5 stars is because this service paired with a very delicious and satisfying, well prepared meal in a restaurant that all of us enjoyed just made me and my family very happy. Ordered take out and they told me 25 min.. every time I have gotten pho it is ready in less than 10min as it is usually prepped, but maybe they're busy today. Showed up 25 min later and got my order no problem (the place was empty though). Come home to eat (I live less than 5 min away) and it's cold.. that's not even the worst part the noodles were HARD as a rock like they just forgot to cook them.. So utterly disappointing, why make me wait almost half an hour if you didn't even bother to cook it and then let it sit there for probably 20 out of the 30 min. Thai food is my most favorite dish. To my surprise, I had the most nastiest Thai Ice Tea you can imagine. I've had lots of them from various restaurants such as Thai Princess, Best Baguette, Cafe Tan Tan, etc and by far I was very disappointed with the two Thai Teas that I ordered from Pho Gabo. Mine you, I haven't had the pleasure of trying out their food yet and at this point unsure if I should but when you've had a bad experience, you're very hesitant at going back again. Some places either make the Thai tea just right or too thick. It's simply premixed tea and you had coconut milk I believe, ice, seal it and offer a straw. Mine was very weak tasting and not filled up to a reasonable level in the cup. It was so bad we just threw them out after attempting to stomach it anyway since we paid $10.40 for it. I do not like to waste money but I didn't go back to complain and ask for replacement because it was out of my way and why should I have to if its done right rhe first time. I do hope that next time for future consumers eating or drinking at Pho Gabo that the cooks. and servers take time to produce and sell quality menu items so that people would want to come back to their restaurant. read more

I went there with my 2 year old baby today and we order some chicken wings with fish sauce. The wings were really salty and honestly, they didn't look like that they were freshly made. And after we came home from the restaurant, I saw some redness around my baby's mouth. He doesn't have sensitive skin and he is usually fine with all kinds of food, never had any allergy reaction. If the redness doesn't go away, I'll sure to take my baby to see a doctor cause I don't know what they put in the wings. Btw, the service is also terrible there. I was asked to order right after I sit down, so I told the server that I'm not ready yet. And then she left, but never came back to check on us. So I had to call her to take my order. I've gotten food from here a lot and it's usually pho. I absolutely love the way they do their to-go orders! They make it so you can actually make it the same way it's made in the restaurant right from wherever you are. They give you everything you put in the soup separate, including the meat, and the broth is definitely hot enough to cook the meat all the way through. The flavors are amazing and you can tell they really pay attention to what they are doing when they prepare the food!
