I really do not enjoy giving bad reviews and I sat on this for a while. Noticed this new place while going to Milky Way and thought I'd give them a try since I like supporting small businesses. They had a great selection of Bahn Mi sandwiches. Couldn't decide between the grilled pork or the filet mignon. Decided to go with a classic grilled pork and thought if I really liked it then I'd go back again for the steak one. I was very disappointed when there was barely any meat in my sad little sandwich. I've read other reviews with similar issues that food seems small or not very much. They're not cheap and to pay all this money for mostly just bread and carrots was very disappointing. I usually like to give a business a second chance but it's a treat to take myself out and pay for a nice lunch and then feel ripped off. Not sure if I'll be back again and if I do, maybe I'll try something else. Hoping they can redeem themselves and I can write an updated more positive review. read more

Pho Dac Biet (#1) was yummy! 4/5 - Soup was flavorful, noodles weren't mush, and there was a decent amount of meat. It was a good amount of food for me, and my mom finished her bowl as well. Pho Bo Vien (#12) same deal. Solid beef balls. Banh Mi Pate Cha Lua (#B2) 4/5 Baguette was fresh and crunchy - Super important. Pepper was also hot when bit into. Satisfied the craving! Pho Suon Bo Lovers (#14) 4/5 - Two big ribs!! Tender meat with a bowl of broth + noodles on the side. Coco Cane (D6) and Plain Sugarcane (D3) - 5/5. Both drinks were really refreshing and not super sweet (ironic because it's sugarcane, but we really did enjoy both!). Overall, there were actually a few miscommunications with the order (one order came out wrong, missed a drink), but no big deal + everything was resolved promptly. I ate here 5 times in January. The perfect place to grab pho in Dublin during the winter time!! I've tried their beef rib and oxtail pho and a chicken teriyaki sizzling plate. It's probably some of the best pho I've had in the Bay Area in general. Simple menu with dishes they do really well. The broth of the pho is flavorful and the meat so tender. I hear their baguettes are also extremely soft. It's not a huge restaurant, so seating is limited. The restaurant gets full but there is never a wait. read more

Small but mighty! The shop itself is fairly small, but they are super quick which I appreciate. My wife and I recently discovered them this month and we are so glad we did! We have definitely tried our fair share of pho spots in the Bay Area and our prior fav was Pho Ha Noi in San Jose, which is a drive for us from Dublin! Thank goodness Pho Lovers is so close to us because their broth is the reason for it becoming our new favorite Pho spot! The owner (husband) is so attentive and sweet. We've only had the pleasure of dining when he is working, but his wife works during the week. He explained they cook their broth for 10 hours! We can definitely taste the love. I came here honestly for the sizzling plates, I'm not a big pho fan.. I know I'm weird and I'm Vietnamese. I really like this place, but I still haven't ordered their pho. What got my attention was the banh mi chao with roasted beef ribs. It's served with pate, 2 sunny side up eggs with garlic butter soy sauce on a sizzling platter. Yeah, it's got a little bowl of pho broth and you can choose baguette or steamed rice. I had to get the baguette to mop up that buttery, greasy sauce. It also had a little salad just to cut the greasiness a bit. It was such a delight. It was definitely not healthy for my arteries, but oh-so-good! This dish exceeded my expectations and already got a 5-star from me. Wifey liked my dish so much that she said she's gonna order it next time. Wifey was considerate and ordered something different. She had the oxtail & beef ribs pho soup served with baguette. It really wasn't bad by any means, but did not stand out compared to my dish. I'd give the dish 4 stars. Oh, my wife asked for butter so she can add to the baguette. Their butter is sweetened and made the baguette even more delightful. The second time I visited the place was 2 days later as my friends really wanted to try. A friend got the same S4 banh mi chao as I did before and loved it. I was not ready to tackle it again so I ordered a banh mi with Vietnamese caramelized pork. It was tasty, but I've gotten similar banh mi's elsewhere. Along with the sandwich, I also had a sugarcane juice with passion fruit. It was a bit sweet for me and although I could see the passion fruit, I couldn't really taste it with every sip. At $6 per drink, I'd skip and go for a milk tea next door afterwards. In fact, I did that the first time I was there. I would certainly come back for the banh mi chao with roasted beef ribs. The place isn't very big but was a decent size. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered two hot plates and my brother ordered a oxtail pho. Also we ordered the soda boba with was okay. Not my favorite (kinda wish they had regular boba milk tea). They started us off with water which tasted like green tea and water (I enjoyed it). Our food then came almost at once. We definitely needed more room on the table as it was pretty crowded with our food and drinks. Other than that the food was tasty. Loved the pho broth. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this place! A place that has delicious sugarcane in the east bay is pretty rare and an even more rare sight is banh mi chao! I didn't get the banh mi chao this time but I most definitely will be coming back for that next time. I got the pho dac biet and it was hitting the spot. I tried their #7 Rare steak, flank, tendon noodle soup and Eggspresso Hanol. The soup was really hot so the rare steak was cooked as soon as I dipped in the soup. The soup was flavorful. The portion is on the small side as there is no option to choose the size of the bowl like some other pho places. Chairs are all wood with no soft cushion so it's not the best place to sit and have a long conversation. Prices are on the higher end. I think they should provide more bean sprouts or a bit more noodles. Overall, it's not bad and I would come back again to try a different noodle soup next time. My friend ordered the beef rib & oxtails pho noodle soup. She liked it but again the portion size are quite small. If you pay cash, there is a slight discount. We were originally in the mood for Japanese, but passing by this place and seeing Bo Ne on the menu, we had to come in and try it. Definitely didn't expect to see that offered in the burbs, so it was a nice surprise! Very small and cozy spot, only been around for a few months. The service is quick, and the food came out quickly as well. The salad had a nice little spicy dressing, and the pho broth was nice and refreshing, a bit heavier on the star anise than most other places. The baguette was nice and hot, with a crispy outside and soft and slightly denser-than-expected inside. The beef had some nice flavor, would have loved it closer on the rarer side. The paté was great, wish there was more! The eggs could be runnier, but over still nice to dip the bread into. Overall, it was a nice meal and a pleasant surprise to find here in Pleasanton without having to go to SJ or Westminster (definitely not the same, but it's hard to complain when you live in the burbs). The owner Nick came over at the end of the meal to check on us, and he was so nice. His wife does all the prep, and it just feels nice to support a small local business that doesn't just do generic Vietnamese with 50+ items on the menu and specializes in a few good dishes. First and foremost, I'll start by saying, this area NEEDS this spot. I WANT this... just areas to improve upon before they are something absolutely special in this area. I was born and raised in San Jose for 39 years and moved to Pleasanton just last year. The Viet spots here are lacking and it's such a sore topic of living in this area. The other spots are super basic and it's just pho and basic rice plates. So for a spot to offer Bo Ne... you've got my attention. I love what they are bringing to the area and although my feedback might sound overly critical, I want to say, I want this place to win, I want them to do better and I will continue to come back and support the spot. Wife ordered the Pho w/ beef rib and ox tail. For being $20, the pho itself was fairly small. Some noodles, a beef rib and three knuckles of the ox tail. The broth was too heavy on cinnamon flavor. The noodles weren't cooked through and hard still. We let it sit for a bit but this is a pretty basic mistake. The meats were kinda underwhelming. Would have loved it if they gave it some char prior to putting it in the broth. Would imagine they're roasting the bones and stuff for the broth anyway? It's a small kitchen I assume so maybe they're limited with what they can do. Who knows... Just would have appreciated some more color and texture on the meats. The Bo Ne was supposed to be shaved filet mignon but meat was over cooked. Made it taste like a cheap cut of meat. So were the eggs. So overcooked they were rubbery. But the bread was nice and toasted. And I get it, maybe the area might not be ready for this yet but serve the meat rare, toss it on before serving it.. eggs too. It's a sizzling plate, it'll cook at the table.. That way it isn't just cooked to death. Would also love to see some sui mai (like the meatball not the dimsum dumpling) or cha lua on there too. Spots are doing a wedge of laughing cow these days too. But really, it's the ratio of "spreadable things" to "meat in the banh mi". Ran out of pate pretty quick and it was just meat and bread after. Not as fun of an adventure if you know what I mean. I love that they had Rau Ma (pennyworth) on the menu and sugar cane. Only complaint. The drinks are filled to the brim with ice and you barely get any drink. It really felt like 90:10. I drank the drink pretty fast after it had been sitting for about 10-15 minutes. And it was about 80% full of ice. The staff is super friendly and they're all moving quickly and taking care of the guests. They check in on you and smile. The restaurant itself is very small and more of a cafe type vibe. They really do deserve to make it big and offer something much larger (in terms of space). They have many of the usual dishes like most pho shops, but also fresh sugar cane juice, various takes on bo ne, and a few Banh mi dips. Even though the restaurant was busy when we arrived, they were able to accommodate our group of 8. I ordered the beef rib sizzling plate since I don't see that very often in Houston.
