This is quite a place, I went there today 6/7/2021, I ordered a could of dishes including a combination chow mein and specifically request no ONIONS, when I arrived there the food was almost done and Jose B was the one that charge for the food and the one that was getting the food ready to give to the customers, he got my chow mein he saw that it had onions and told the other guy that it was request without onions, so this other guy started to take out the onions with his fingers and searching for more onions he decided to put it on a different plate and started to take out the rest of it, what kind of customer service is this, how would they expect me to eat that after he played with it, is this what this company teach their employees to do? The thing to get here is without doubt the house special chicken - the flavors are the most dynamic and balanced, and while it is sweet (like many of their sauces), it's got a good counterbalance of wine and soy to not make the sweetness overpowering. The same cannot be said for dishes like the broccoli beef and garlic chicken, which all start to feel like the same dish: a meat in a cloyingly sweet sauce with a standard mix of carrots, broccoli, and snap peas. Their house salad dressing is also solid, and the brown rice I had was well-cooked. A lunch combo featuring these alongside the house special chicken would not be a bad meal at all. would love to give this place more stars because the food is delicious. The help here was just ok and the cashier didn't seem to know much about the menu and was not focused. I asked for the coconut curry sauce to not be too hot and the nice cook came out and said the sauce is already made and I said ok don't worry about it I will bear it. When I finally got my food (this place is always slow) there was really no sauce or flavor at all. So when I inquired the cook said I didn't want to make it too hot, but there was no sauce at all and they gave me a tiny cup of sauce. I was confused because I thought I was just getting it regular. Also, we got our pad thai noodles in a nice black plate and the other 2 meals in a to go container? Not appealing and a bit confusing. Pick Up Stix, can be hit or miss for sure and it varies by location. You need to invest a bit of time to figure out what works for you. Americanized Chinese fusion with many of familiar sounding names on the menu no one is going to confuse this with authentic Chinese food. I used to frequent the one by my place in Irvine all of the time but alas I grew tired of the inconsistency there and moved on. I have actually eaten at this Pick Up Stix several times and waited to put in a review. The place is always very clean and the condiment and self serve beverage area is also nicely organized. The young staff working there always seems to be in good spirits and they are attentive. So service and overall cleanliness get top marks. They offer 3 salads that I find work well at lunch and don't seem to take as long as their other orders. Everything is made to order which is a huge plus but it can seem to take an inordinate amount of time to get your grub at times. Chopped Asian Vinaigrette-The perfect light lunch order and they seem to have dialed in how to provide a solid and repeatable version. Packaging wise when I take my food home it's all soggy the fried rice is mixed with the chicken and it's just drenched with the sauce. I even unsubscribed to their pick up stix club too, I liked the offers they would send me and I would like to come in and try their food maybe they need to pack the chicken/rice separately instead of together. Okay, I just got back from eating here and I have to say their honey chicken and fried cream cheese wontons are AMAZING! I recommend them both HIGHLY they are my current addiction, but the honey chicken is not on the menu so you have to ask for it. I prefer the regular, but you can also order it spicy. One down side, the place is always a mess. Every time I go there the tables are dirty, every single on of them. After driving down Chatsworth St. I saw a small sign that read "Pick Up Stix" and decided to grab lunch. I haven't been at their restaurants for about 4 years and had forgotten what my favorite dish used to be. After reviewing the menu I decided on the Orange Tofu lunch special. The dish consists of orange tofu which is just like orange chicken. The lunch special includes a heaping spoonful of your choice of white, brown, or fried rice. Also, 2 pieces of won ton and of course a fortune cookie. Food: The tofu had a flavorful taste, the brown rice was a bit underdone which made it have a hard texture. The won tons tasted a bit old and were obviously frozen. The staff: The staff is very patient and helpful to suggest items and dishes. Currently, the parking can be a bit tricky due to the remodeling of the entire plaza where the restaurant is located. Not sure when thats supposed to be finished. Overall, I like the food and value for the lunch special. I wouldn't get dinner from here. Not worth the money for the food your getting. I was highly disappointed this time around because the portion sizes for both entrees were about half the size they normally are. I totally got gypped!! I ordered all the extra rice for nothing because there wasn't enough meat & veggies to go around. It was obvious that the cook either: (1) Short changed me because he had to make a double order or (2) Didn't give extra ingredients to suffice for the missing broccoli and green beans. We called the shift manager and told her about our disappointment with food tonight An she asked us to go back so they could check food because cook wanted to see it. He flipped food over on a plate and showed us that he diid not follow food preparation standards for the company and put all meat in the bottom of rice and not mixed. I like coming here because of the healthy options when it comes to fast food. You order at the register and they give you a number an being you your food. Everything comes out in Togo packaging but it is all really delicious. They have some appetizers that I love (egg rolls & lettuce wraps). The portions are okay I usually still feel a little hungry after an entree which is why the appetizers are perfect to get with your meal.
