What a hidden gem in Downtown Oakland!!! This was a spontaneous find and I would definitely come back here. Pretty interior, nice service, and GOOD FOOD. I'm pretty picky with my Thai food... but this place made the perfect Pad See Ew! The noodles were the perfect texture and everything was evenly seasoned. There wasn't a lot of Chinese broccoli, so the noodles definitely dominated this dish. A little sweet, and not too salty. I really enjoyed this! The presentation with the banana leaf was very visually appealing too. I really enjoyed the Mao Cha Yen! This is a sake-based cocktail made with thai tea and coconut milk. The sake was PRETTY STRONG, but as long as you mix the drink before every sip... the pleasant coconutty thai tea flavor comes out. Very affordable too! read more

I've been looking for some Thai close by where I work. It seems like a lot have closed. This little gem was a great find on the tip of a coworker. The restaurant is cute. Cozy but a little lol chilly. I sat in the table in the window by the door. The restaurant has about 15-20 tables in two separate eating areas. It as a pretty packed house today with a steady stream of people. For a small place and a packed house it was very loud. The staff was really attentive and friendly but not overbearing. They answered the questions I had and gave nice service while allowing me to enjoy lunch. I've been craving curry lately so today I got it. I ordered Massamun Nuer Curry. It's slow cooked tender beef, potatoes and carrots. Perfect for a chilly day. The flavor was great but a bit more spice kick would have made it great. The portion was just enough. I definitely ordered it again. I also ordered the Papaya Salad. It was a nice amount of salad. It was really tasty. I asked for spicy and I got spicy! Loved it. Made my nose run and warmed up my inside. For a drink I ordered the Thai Green Tea. It was creamy delicious and helped off set the spice of the salad. It also gave me a little buzz so I had no food coma. :) All in all a nice little spot, great staff and tasty food. I always love a solid local business and now I have a go to Thai place for lunch. Seriously a hidden gem in Oakland! My cousin found this place with a quick Yelp search as we were going to be attending an event in the area. Didnt think much of it, but our first impression passing by the place is "Wow, theyre busy!!" Usually a good sign for a poppin food spot. Upon walking in, the host was super nice, and the vibes were immaculate! The decor was just so modern and fun, I really felt like I was in a casual street bar in Thailand! Our meal: +Kana Moo Krob (Pork Belly) - Well seasoned, crunchy, the veggies were delicious as well! +Kiew Wan Roti - First time I had roti served with steak and that was an amazing touch! It was literally the perfect starter. +Pad Thai Chicken - WHEN I SAW THE PORTION SIZE!?....I audibly said "WOW!" they dont play with the portion!! +Green Curry (Kang Kiew Wan Gai) - The flavor was so yummy, the beef was tender, and the spice was just right. Aside from the food above, I tried the Mao Cha Yen. I thought of it as an alcoholic thai tea! The first sip was definitely a shock as the sake was pretty strong, but once you mix it (really well!!) it was super good! Mind you, I'm not a huge coconut lover but this was pretty tasty. Really good spot! I definitely recommend trying one of their drinks, my friend got the Lychee Thai tea, and it was super refreshing and delicious. I ordered the wok chicken with a side of rice and ended up mixing it all together to make a kind of "fried rice", simple but tasty! We came on a Saturday evening around 5 PM and had no trouble getting a table, so no need for reservations if you come at a reasonable time. Our total was about $65 for two people, which felt pretty fair. The place has a fun Tropical Thai vibe, lots of bright colors like orange, yellow, and blue, giving it the perfect summertime feel! Speaking of which... Summertime tip: I'd recommend avoiding the tables in direct sun as it can get pretty hot since the place isn't air-conditioned. Easy fix though! I've now tried eaten at Pintoh Thai about six times with two of those times being through delivery. I can't remember the names of all i ordered since being here, but the pictures are attached. I really enjoyed the shrimp chips with chili oil as an appetizer. It's a light crunchy snack and the chili oil dip with it makes it all the more better. After eating these i was craving Shrimp Chips from the store for about a week. Last week I ordered Kang Goong - shrimp and pineapple in red curry - Lychee tea, and a side of white rice. I love anything lychee and this was no different. The Kang Goong didn't disappoint. I could seriously eat the curry alone as a broth, so earlier this week I went in to dine and ordered the red curry sauce on the side to pour over my Khao Pad Sapparot (shrimp,chicken and pineapple over fried rice). Khao Pad Sapparot is delicious on its own, but whenever I'm ordering a rice dish from a place that serves curry, I just need the curry. For appetizers we ordered Satay (chicken skewers with peanut sauce) and Por Tod (basically they're slim veggie egg rolls). 5/5 for both. I don't remember the hours of happy hour here - maybe 4 to 6 - but the Lavender Mojito is delicious and $1 off during happy hour asking with a few other drinks and appetizers. This spot was recommended by a coworker. Looks like a hole in the wall but you know what they say, these are usually the best place to eat at. Cozy spot. Friendly staff greeted us right away and cleaned us a table. Rag smelled pretty strong of cleaning product but when the food came out, that sweet smell transponder me somewhere else. I got the Choo Chee Salmon with a side of Jasmine rice and an Arnold Palmer. Tasted like any ordinary Palmer except it had a hint of Thai Iced Tea flavor to separate it from the rest. The salmon swims in the red curry sauce but it is so sweet and tasty. I almost wanted to put the bowl to my lips and drink it after I finished my meal. It's probably one of the best I ever had. The roti was standard, but what elevated the dish was all the sauces and things it came with to make it taste even better. Stumbled upon this restaurant on accident with a friend for dinner on Tuesday night. Their indoor decor is so cute! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They have music playing continuously over the radio with TikTok type music, but it's honestly really low and if the restaurant is mostly empty everyone can hear your conversation unless you talk super low. The music is good, we just thought it'd be better if it was turned up a few notches so the restaurant wasn't so quiet and we could converse normally. We each ordered a drink: Lavender Mojito- Very refreshing and delicious! Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk which my friend enjoyed that they were able to sub with coconut milk since she's allergic to regular milk For food we ordered: Khao Pad Sapparot- My friend was surprised but also happy with the amount of food she received that it was enough for her to take home for an extra meal! She enjoyed her dish! Pad Makuer- Perfect amount of food for me and the presentation was beautiful! I subbed with chicken instead of the tofu. The other sub options are beef and shrimp. The place looks small but has plenty of tables and two outdoor tables. The food is authentic street /family quality Thai food and is very tasty and hearty plates. The service is quick and portions are large. Great vegan options too. My favorite is the beef Pad Kee Mao They give large Servings and it's always fresh. I ordered the Khao Soi (curry noodles with slices of chicken) and the Lychee Iced tea. It was so delicious! The broth of the soup was very rich and creamy with lots of flavor. The noodles soaked enough of the broth of the soup making it chewy and packed with flavor in every bite. The lychee iced tea tasted exactly as it sounds and wasn't overly sweet. Overall I give the place a 4/5 stars because we were the only ones there at first and it took them awhile to take our order then give us the check. And they accidentally charged my friend for 3 drinks. Not a huge deal but was still a great experience, great food, and overall felt homey. I would definitely come here again! read more

Another banger in Oakland. Pintoh Thai has easily become one of my new favorites in the area. I live just a few blocks away from here but I keep coming back because they never miss. I usually opt for three dishes: 1) Gai Himmaparn (crispy chicken) 2) Pad Thai (stir fried noodles) and 3) Mango Sticky Rice (sweet and savory dessert) and it's just the right amount of food for my girlfriend and I. I think pad thai is pretty self explanatory but did want to take the time to highlight the Gal Himmaparn because I feel like it's underrepresented. This dish is GOOD. It's essentially a version of the infamous crispy chicken but includes an assorted mix of veggies and sauces such as strong beans, basil, red peppers, cashew nuts and a delicious chili sauce. I've never had anything like it and think it pairs quite nicely with the pad thai as well as you get that mix of both carbs and protein this way. Service was also good, there's ample seating and it's reasonably priced as well. 5/5 in my book and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Came here on a Monday night at 5:30pm and it was pretty quiet. I made a reservation earlier in the day, but I don't think I needed to. The roti was tasty and fluffy but a little too oily. It's not the rotis I would've expected. The eggplant was good but the pieces were a little too big. The jasmine rice was on the harder side. Lastly, I was expecting the gai tod to be bone-in but it was actually a fried chicken breast. The inside was a little too dry and the outside wasn't crispy. While we were eating, an employee/outside vendor was drilling something a couple feet away and made a lot of noise. It went on for at least 15 min. They also played music super loud at one point... Food is very weak to mediocre at best the kiew wan roti was a 3/5 it had a unique blend of flavors but the meat was over cooked and not seasoned. Pad Thai was lower quality than store bought frozen pad Thai. Absolutely flavorless even when we added extra tamarind sauce and several limes it was lacking in flavor and had an over cooked clumpy texture. Chicken wings were undercooked and not crispy. Service was attentive and warm. Ambiance was good 4/5 with cozy seating, colorful table cloths and unique wall pieces - the restraunt is playful and vibrant. We tried this popular Thai restaurant in downtown Oakland after seeing the vegetarian-friendly menu. The decor is cute with vintage patterned tablecloths. Some of the veggie offerings were unavailable such as the vegan shrimp. The service was efficient and quick. The pad-Thai was perfectly prepared (although the portion was small) as were the Brussels sprouts. There's a good selection of beers and interesting cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks. Our friends discovered a Thai restaurant in Downtown Oakland and loved the food there. They wanted us to try it and we met them on a recent Friday at 5:15pm. We found street parking two storefronts from the restaurant. There's a smaller dining room when you enter and a larger one in the room to the right. We ordered some drinks and two of us got the lychee iced tea and one got a lavender drop, which was on the specials board. After checking out the menu, we decided on some appetizers and entrees. Kiew Wan Roti - crispy roti topped with skirt steak that came with a curry dipping sauce and cucumber relish. Loved the crispy roti and tasty dipping sauce. Look Chin Tod - three skewers of four deep fried fish balls with a spring salad, cucumber and cilantro and spicy and tangy sauce. The dipping sauce was tasty. Sikrong Moo Tod - deep fried baby back ribs with fried garlic on top. It came with sticky rice and salad. Never had ribs made like this. It was crispy, yet the meat was moist. Would order this again. Pad see ew pork - stir fried wide rice noodles with pork, Chinese broccoli and egg. They use wider than normal rice noodles. It was good. Khao Mun Gai - slow cooked chicken leg quarter served over herb-garlic and ginger rice with a lime-chili sauce and a cup of chicken bone broth soup. The chicken was moist and tender and tasty with some lime-chili sauce. The garlic ginger rice was very tasty. For dessert, we had the chocolate overload cake. It was a large slice of chocolate cake drizzled with chocolate with a side of whipped cream. Cake was moist. We wanted a mango mousse cake as well, but they were sold out when we place our dessert order at 6:15pm. A nice Thai gem in downtown Oakland with friendly and helpful service. This was such a great find. The space is brightly decorated and there is an option for outdoor seating and long tables for big groups which is very nice. I love Thai food and I was so excited to see a beyond meat option on the menu so I ordered the Krapow and jasmine rice. I think it can be shared by two people, but I was very happy to have leftovers. This place is another prime example of some exquisite food Oakland harbors! This Thai place seriously is a banger that will hit ANY sort of Thai craving you have! I cannot recommend this more! Food - We ordered the Roti and Gai Himmparan. The Roti was super flaky, not super oily and simply melted in my mouth the second I put it in! The roti also comes with some friend tofu and a banger chili sauce! The tofu is not super dry and the right level of crispiness on the outside for you have the infamous crunch! Service - The waiter was quick in giving us water the moment we sat at our table outside. As we were new to this place, we asked the waiter for some recommendations on what was popular and she first asked what we were looking for made sure to cater her suggestions to that which was super considerate! Additionally, halfway through out meal, the sun was directly facing us and slightly blinding and we was accommodating to make the process of switching tables as seamless as possible! Seating - There is plenty of seating for small and big parties inside. There are a few places right outside the place but mainly for smaller parties, mostly 2 people max. Parking - There is unfortunately no parking lot so other options are street parking and garage parking. Cleanliness - Super clean place both inside and out. This place is newer but a welcome addition to Oakland, I think this is place is now in the mix for one of my Thai places in Oakland which includes places like Champa Garden (Laotian/Thai), Daughter Thai, and Chai Thai Noodles Their fried roti and curries (yellow or green) are a favorite for me and my wife, as are their pork ribs. Their mango & sticky rice is pretty solid too. A lot of thai places have been doing family trays for $50-60 that could feed 2-4 people depending how hungry people are. We thoroughly enjoyed their's and find their stuff to be pretty authentic (I'm not Thai but spent some time in Thailand). read more

We live in Uptown, and we are regulars here. My daughter is an expert in Pad Thai, and she favors Pintoh. We also love their curries - I like their shrimp with pineapple curry. Their dessert is also good quality and their service is GREAT. When we place an online order, they have always been ready ahead of time so go there if you want food fast. They described the dish as a slow-cooked chicken leg and indeed it was as it was served boneless and sliced with cucumber slices and a cup of its hot broth. This place deserves more traction. Despite the great stars and number of reviews, this place was surprisingly very empty for dinner. I came and was immediately seated. I got the Khao Soi which hit the spot. The noodles are thick (but i did wish i had more) and the broth is a thick creamy curry base. Other people that I dined with had the kana moo krob and crab fried rice and also found it tasty. Overall, would definitely come again. Quarantine review: We had an Uber eats coupon, so we decided to try the family style meal. We also ordered a khao mun gai on the side to maximize savings. The chicken rice was *chefs kiss*. Chicken was tender, rice was flavorful. I basically inhaled the whole thing. The actual family style meal was sorta mediocre. Egg rolls, Thai iced tea, and ribs were good, but the roti was too oily, the pad Thai was too sweet, and the chicken in the curry was too tough. Popped on in last night for dinner. I ordered chicken pad see ew and my friend ordered some broth / curry like dish with chicken. We both wiped the plates clean! Drinks are a tiny bit overpriced but I'm getting used to that more and more these days. While we were eating two men started what looked like a playful fight outside by smacking each other with card board boxes.
