Have been to this restaurant multiple times and it never disappoints. Came in with my mother last visit and sat at the bar. Efrain took great care of us and was beyond fantastic. It's nice to see a restaurant manager willing to help their staff and also provide great service. The food is always well-prepared and they offer awesome local beer selections. The hummus is top-notch, can never go wrong with the trio appetizer. I had the Lavash Turkey Wrap and my mom had the Mediterranean Chicken Salad. We both were more than satisfied. Personally, I'm not a huge Pita person, but the family wanted to go here. I should have reviewed the menu ahead of time. Admittedly, I was skeptical about Pita Jungle. The tagline of this chain with locations all throughout Arizona is "the Art of Eating Healthy," and while I certainly have nothing against that, I've found that restaurants that focus on healthy eating typically don't prioritize deliciousness! But all of my expectations were blown out of the water! Taking advantage of Wine Wednesday, we ordered a half-priced bottle of the Sur de los Andes Malbec, which was literally one of the best wines I've had in months! And then there was the service. Our waitress Taylor seemed to be one of the only servers working the dining room, and despite how busy it was, she never skipped a beat in making us feel welcome and getting us everything we asked for! And I haven't even gotten to the food! We started with the Mediterranean Antipasto platter, which came with a sampling of four dips: hummus, roasted bell pepper hummus, cilantro jalapeño hummus, and garlic dip, along with slices of cucumbers, tomatoes, chunks of feta, two falafel balls, and pita bread on the side! Everything on this plate was delicious, but my favorite components were the crispy falafel balls, the chewy, pillowy, warm pita bread, and the creamy garlic dip (another customer even came up to us as she was leaving just to tell us how much she liked the garlic dip here!). In addition to the dips, we also ordered the Chicken Curry Salad, as recommended by Taylor as one of her favorites from the menu! This salad came with mixed greens, grilled chicken breast in a yogurt-curry sauce, turmeric brown rice (with an al dente texture), pita chips, and caramelized onions. Taylor even went out of her way to bring us an additional side of curry-yogurt sauce, which further enhanced the flavors of the dish! I tried this place on a whim looking for some food in the area. I got the Mediterranean roasted chicken shawarma to go and it's probably one of the worst I've ever had. There wasn't really any sauce on it, so the whole thing was overall flavorless. With the pickle, onion, tomato, and lettuce, the whole thing tasted like a very bland and dry chicken burger on a pita. I wasn't getting any Mediterranean flavors whatsoever. I'm a huge foodie and I rarely dislike something enough to throw it away or waste food, but wow this wrap was so bad I could only get through half of it. After a day of Grand Canyon visitation we wanted something a little healthier than the heavily processed food that's generally offered in Flagstaff. The kids meals had great options including many of the healthy variety ( Fruit, Cucumber slices, steamed Broccoli, Tofu, Brown Rice, and lentils just to name a few). At 4.99 It's a great price. Service, while most of the negative reviews point to Pita Jungle's service as being a major issue, we had good and prompt service. So up to this point it was a solid experience. We also ordered a few mains ( two pita based and one salad). The Mediterranean salad (Grilled and chopped all-natural chicken breast, roasted bell peppers, cucumbers, tabbouleh, mixed greens, corn, diced tomatoes, red onions, feta, golden raisins, toasted pine nuts, cilantro, lemon vinaigrette) - This sounded and looked great but the taste balance was way off. There were too many bold and acidic flavors that made it tough to eat. There simply was too much going on to make it enjoyable. It was overpowering to say the least. This is another case why you should ALWAYS order dressing on the side. Maybe this was a goof up on their part, someone should be taste testing this stuff....right? The Philly Steak Pita looked amazing but it was heavily seasoned for some reason. It tasted strangely familiar to powdered Fajita seasoning, again too bold for me. I do wonder if the steak was flavor cross contaminated during cooking. Side potatoes were much better than fries.
