This was my first cooking job in H.S. when they had one in LaPalma. Nothing has changed as far as quality of ingredients and cooking method. The dough is always perfect, never yeasty & well proofed. I remember topping pies w/sausage. Every piece is formed & placed on the pizza by hand. No measuring devices when we put cheese on. We did it by eye. I order my pie well done, the way it should be. They pile the toppings so high you need the xtra oven time. The restaurant is very dated, but brings back childhood memories of what a pizza parlor should still be. Best bang for your buck! I've visited the whittier Pizzamania & it seems the dough recipe has changed. Texture,crunch,flavor was a little different from what I remember back in the day. If you want a non greasy saltine with ketchup on it stick to little cesars or pizzakitchen. Organic hearthealthy people just stay outta of a real pizza establishment. The pizza here is maybe half a step above a frozen DiGiorno pizza you'd get at the supermarket. The crust and sauce seem like premade items you'd get at a food supply store(I do not know if this is the case or not) and the cheese is greasy. Alas, those days are gone, Michael is dead, replaced by a young whipper snapper named Bieber who likes to go around grabbing his crotch....hey wait a minute. One of the best pizzas you can get in Long Beach, period. I loved this place when I went to CSULB for their smoking lunch deal and still stop by to pick up pizza. Even my sister and brother-in-law (both CSULB grads, too) will ask me to pick it up for them if they know I am headed in their direction. The staff is friendly, as well. Came here because my son was playing in a weekend bball tournament at the nearby CSLBU pyramid and we had a group of about 10 boys and 10 parents show up in the late afternoon. Pizzamania was recommended by one of the boys who goes to Long Beach State and said that this was pretty good. I would have to agree... First of all, they were able to accommodate us without any problem so I would have to agree that this place is good for groups. Second, they have salads and sandwiches in addition to pizza so they are not a completely one dimensional pizza joint. But their bread and butter so to speak is the pizza and they do a pretty good job but is otherwise undistinguished from most fresh pizzas. First their crust is bread like, allowed to rise and crisp around the edges but still thin in the center, perhaps a little too thin as the ingredients and sauce weighs down the center after it is sliced. Their ingredients are pretty fresh so their sausage/mushroom pizza and their pepperoni pizza is pretty good. Their mozzarella cheese is long and stringy when pulled apart. We didn't care so much for the combo which had raw onions and green bell peppers sprinkled on the top. I would have preferred to have the vegetables sauteed to take out some of the bite. Other than this, the pizza overall was pretty good, I understand that Pizzamania also sell their pizza by the slice which is convenient for lunchtime budgets and students. They are a all over this town as much if not more than there Starbucks, but LB is seriously lacking GOOD pizza establishments with any sort of memorable wow factor. Over the years, (about 15 now) this place always seemed to be a reliable option given the price and location but no sleep more. This is not complaint or low ball review in regards to the staff ( same staff all these years) or the food. This is directed to the owner and rhe city in regards to the foul conditions of this place. I made the mistake of having to use the restroom while waiting, WHOA, even Blythe has cleaner bathrooms and that's not saying much. VILE. Will not be coming back. Floors in dining area gross, tables dirty.. AND stupid me, I managed to miss the health inspection VIOLATIONS Report posted at the entrance. So, if these are the conditions ( go see for yourself) imagine how food is handled. Good thing then living hell can be cooked out of pizza. How can this place even be allowed to operate? read more

The pizza is really good here. Its a good place to bring the family to relax and watch the game. They have a couple beers on tap and lots of different kinds of pizza. The works is the best pizza but the others are good too. I've been here at least a dozen times and the service is excellent. In order to fulfill my latest pizza craving, I turned to yelp and seeing that this place got such good reviews, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza for take out and it did not disappoint. The crust was chewy and delicious, cheese and toppings were generious, and sauce was slightly sweet, but complemented the saltiness of the toppings perfectly. The only negative was that it was extremely greasy. How greasy? Since I took it to-go, the oil was starting to spot through the box. We were seeking out pizza and Yelp guided us here on a Sunday afternoon. We were the ONLY people there which is never a good sign when a place is supposedly four stars. I enjoy going to this place at lunch. They have a slice and salad special that is cheap. The slices are limited to cheese or pepperoni, but decent. Gained 5 lbs while living in long beach because of this place. Now that we're in LA, we're in search of our new pizza place and nothing really measures up. Gooey, cheesy, perfect sauce, chewy crust. My order was ready in about 10 minutes so by the time I drove there (just a mere 2.5 miles away from my place) my pizza was done. The crust was thin, just like I like and there plenty of toppings. The sauce/cheese/crust ratio is just right. I don't care for the sauce which is one of the 2 reasons I can't go over 3 stars here - it's too sweet for my liking. My husband and I like garlic on our pizza, but pizzamania goes WAY overboard with some toppings! It seemed like there were spoonsful of garlic covering the pizza. They do this with the black olives too - good thing they're easy to brush off! They seem to go very cheap with the sauce now and for some reason, it just doesn't taste the same. Great Pizza!!!! Had it sent to the house on a Saturday night and it was actually to me within one hour. Ordered the medium pizza with pep, sausage and onions. Plenty for my wife and I. Extra cheesy and top grade toppings. Ordered the wings as well. They were ok. Better then dominos but thats about it. Ordered the pizza skins as well. This used to be a go-to place for my classmates and myself when we were in grad school. That was more than a decade ago. Now, along with great memories of friendship, I remember the pizzas being really good. Unfortunately because it was so long ago, I couldn't remember what made them so good. Recently I wanted to revisit the place and find out what made us keep coming back. Ok, I am no pizza expert. I just don't eat it often enough to be one. However, I know what I like and what I liked about Pizazamania pizza was that it was: 1. Huge with the toppings piled on. We ordered medium size for 2 people, and ended up taking 2/3 of it home. Next time I would order small. 2. The crust (Now I remember why I liked it so much back then) was perfect. It's not too thin or too thick. The bottom of it was toasty crunchy and soft on top.
