It's actually 4.5 stars, the half point deduction is for the size of the space. I felt like I was dining in someone's closet! Also, I was a little skeeved-out that the desserts sit on the counter, uncovered, while people dine around them. One sneeze and they'd all be done for- that is, if the sneeze was heard by the right person. Otherwise, they'd just be served to unsuspecting folks. Eeeww. The pizza was an absolute delight...light, crisp, and somehow, vegan. They adapted one of the special features for me, but straight up told me I'd have no choice what went on it, that would be up to the chef. (Uhh, OK, the Chef is right behind you, and I can see every ingredient she's grabbing?) That was the only time I felt the weird pretentious vibe that others have referred to in their reviews, but it was indeed an odd feeling. The glass of wine I ordered came in a tumbler-- it had to be like a 10- ounce pour. I'll be the last to complain about that. Between the two of us, we had 2 personal-sized pizzas, a beer, a wine and shared a (non-sneezed-upon) dessert. Needless to say, we nearly fell off our stools when the bill came to 71 bucks. I guess it snuck up on us, so be in tune to that if you're on any type of budget. However, it was worth the yumminess and cozy couple time we enjoyed at the 'za bar, without even having to wait one minute outside. We shall return! read more

Delicious pizza; great seasonal toppings. However, I have issue with some elements of their customer service. This place is slightly snobby. The know their pizza is great, and they are resistant to make any modifications to the toppings to suit customer preference. They offer no options for you to choose your own combination of toppings (there only offer a handful of specific combinations of toppings you can choose from, rather than allowing the customer to choose their own), and generally act offended if you order a pizza without one of the toppings (i.e. the farm egg pizza without the braised pork). read more

One of the best pizza places to go to if you're a foodie. If all you want is generic pizza, then you might not like it as much, as the place is a bit tiny and parking can get nuts in this area. Although I'd never heard about Pizzetta, I'm glad I did. Made for a great, pre-show dinner. Knowing ahead of time that the wait could be long, the 20 minutes we waited for a table didn't seem so bad once we put our names on the list. Dinner consisted of the cheese salad (mixed greens, with two types of cheese, olives, bread, and candied walnuts), the rabini pizza (prosciutto, broccoli rabini, a lemon wedge, and cheese), Chimay. Dessert was some sort of glazed pear with a nice wedge of ginger cake and a dollap of whipped cream. $40. The salad was a nice intro to the pizza. Although I'm a sucker for cheese and bread, you wouldn't think to get cheese and bread as a prelude to pizza, but it worked out nicely. My one complaint is that the rind on one of the cheeses tasted a bit like chlorine. Easy enough to fix: cut off the rind. With regards to the pizza, I hate it when people describe food as "sublime," but I'll have to say the pizza was just that. Nice, thin crust that you could fold in half without it breaking or dumping out the contents. The fresh lemon squeezed over the top made gave the broccoli rabe a nice bite with the salty prosciutto. The ginger cake was, to put it simply, a nice finish. I'm not sure how the pear was prepared (it looked like it had been caramelized in a pan with sugar), but it finished things up nicely. As far as the service goes, they were very pleasant. Maybe it was because we didn't try to cram into a tiny restaurant instead of waiting outside for our names to be called, or we didn't insist on sitting in an empty chair, despite the fact that there was a list of names ahead of us. Either way, the server brought the check to the table, apparently something of a rarity at Pizzetta, and thanked us for coming in. That said, if you, like the lady below, are 8 months pregnant, don't want to wait, there are plenty of other places a block down on Clement that you'd probably like. read more

Forget Little Star, this is the best pizza in SF! Try the anchovie pizza, the anchovies are soaked in olive oil and provide this tangy deliciousness that is out of this world. Delicious and inventive pizzas in a cozy intimate setting. I love that its nestled in a very residential area near my hood! The ambiance evokes the feeling of dining at a friends house. The pizza had a great thin crust with just the right amount of toppings. Tried the special heirloom tomato, green and wax bean salad in a thyme vinagrette that was phenominal. It was perfectly balanced - fresh and flavorful. We went on to the Farm Egg, Pancetta, Roasted Pimento Pepper, Arugula, Manchego and Squash-Sorrel Pesto, Cherry Tomato, Goat Cheese, Chive pizzas. Delicious. Its not the heavy NY style pizza people think of when they go out for pizza. This is neo-p style. Thin cracker-like crust with a light application of toppings. Very cute little thin crust pizza shop! We had to wait about 45 minutes during an off time because the restaurant only seats about 10 people, but it was worth it! The staff was so nice, offering drinks while we waiting and then getting our food out quickly once we were seated. We got a Margarita pizza ($11 I think) and two beers. They are serving up wonderful pizza and apps with great ingredients in a tiny store front right in the Outer Richmond. This is a great date night place to go when you wouldn't mind sitting outside enjoying a couple glasses of wine with good company. One of the most delicious pizza I've had in a very long time. My friend and I went on March 24, 2014 so since then the menu has changed. But here's what we had: 1) Farm egg, maitake mushroom, truffled pecorino, garlic, herbs, & cream. 2) Spicy braised lamb, mint yogurt, & charred spring onion. OMG!!! It was amazing...both!! But I might even like the spicy braised lamb more. The combination was just amazing and the crust was well cooked. Definitely coming back to try other toppings. I love that they change the menu every 2 weeks. Though I hope to have the spicy braised lamb again. I'm salivating thinking about it. And I also love that the place is small and intimate. read more

I wish I could give Pizzzeta 211 4 1/2 stars. The food? FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY. This is some of the best pizza I've had anywhere, and I've had it in Tuscany. You have to like truly authentic-type thin crust pizza. They toss the dough for each individual pizza right in front of you. All the ingredients are fresh and very tasty. Don't expect a Round Table-type pizza loaded up with cheeses and toppings. Don't get me wrong-- I love those kinds of pizzas too, but Pizzetta 211's pizza is tasty in a more straightforward kind of way, using nothing but obviously topflight ingredients. And it doesn't leave you feeling full and bloated afterwards. Cons: truth is, it's a little spendy, given the price and size of each pizzetta. I could eat three of them if I were super hungry. But they are SO good! Ever try Pauline's Pizza? I think that Pizzetta 211 is MUCH better. Also, it's such a tiny location, you will have a very hard time getting a seat at any time resembling a meal time. We went there on a rainy day sometime between lunch and dinner and they were STILL full. I believe that they do to-go orders, but it would be a good idea to order well in advance. My older brother introduced me to this place a couple of weeks ago. Definitely the best pizza I have had in the city. The place is great, but SMALL. We made the mistake since we were a group of 5. It took some time (not long though) to get a spot. We sat outside (needed two small tables) and luckily they had heat lamps which made for a great atmosphere. I kept it simple and got a margherita (i know i know, not creative), but i was looking for something simple and it ended up being great. I have a soft spot for thin crust and this place fit the bill. OMG amazing thin crust pizza. The rosemary-pine nut is divine. They change the pizzas weekly (or daily - I don't check that often). The salad w cheeses is great too. Really tiny space - only seats about 8 people. I've never had to wait but I go on random weeknights kinda late. I've found the staff really friendly also.
