One of the few places open for breakfast in the area. Website is misleading, would Anthony Bourdain approve it? Seemed more like a place Guy Fieri of the Food Network would visit. Yes, it's inside a dive bar- dark and mysterious. Wasn't even sure where the entrance was because it's on the side of the parking lot, not the street. Patio dining was not available at 7:30 a.m. on a Friday. I ordered Classic Eggs Benedict, if cooked correctly it's heavenly. On this day, they were "meh"- eggs were almost hard boiled, not lightly poached, English Muffin was toasted to a dark brown and pretty crispy. At least the ham was thinly sliced, not a big slab. Side of hash browns were very overcooked and dry. As other reviewers have mentioned, the server was friendly, no complaints about her. She kept my coffee refilled and checked on me a few times. As a local spot, it's fine. Perhaps this just wasn't one of their best mornings. The food was hot and edible but don't be fooled by the fancy food photos on the website. I was looking for a cute breakfast place to eat with my family, and I found point break and had to give it a try! Amazing Food and Amazing Service! Dog friendly and he got given treats too! Would definitely recommend Ellen as your server, who is the sweetest server you will ever meet. She is funny and she will always give your table a good laugh. While in Point Loma, we googled places to eat that were "dog friendly". Point Break pops up, and has good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We were skeptical at first, mainly because it looks like a little local dive bar, not that I have anything wrong with that and we weren't disappointed. We showed up at happy hour, and they have some great prices during that time. I had the cheeseburger, while the misses had the seared ahi...I know, odd for a bar. My burger was good and the wife said the seared ahi was phenomenal, portion was big, tasty, and at a great price. ($10) The beer was cold, and the staff was friendly, so we'd definitely would come back!! read more

To whom it may concern, this bar had a horrible smell, maybe the carpet needs to be cleaned, after all of the old racist faces shunned our group of Latin women and one male. We were asked to keep it down because people were complaining of our amazing personality on our weekend getaway. Are we drinking, paying and tipping in a library? Maybe our race had something to do with it, maybe our social status? We were playing a game that the bar provides, Cards For Humanity, why be hushed, why lower your voice, we are drinking in a bar having a great time! This place is fantastic! Its got the coziness of a diner, mixed with the fun of a dive bar all in one. It reminds me of a Moose Lodge without the membership dues. We stopped in while on vacation for a few drinks. The pours were great! Heavy pours! I had wine and my husband had Jack n Coke. The prices really cannot be beat here. The staff is friendly, and the patrons are also very friendly and welcoming. I wish we could have stayed all day, because I was having a blast. We did not eat, but the food we saw looked amazing. The menu is also very large with a selection for everyone. We will definitely come back and spend more time here the next time we are in the area. read more

Went with a friend, the place was packed! There was an event happening in town so lots of people everywhere. I had not been here in a while because I like trying new places, but decided to stop today on my way home because it's super close. The place a very dark and dreary, little light, almost resembles a cave or tunnel. Food was slow, but I expected that since it was crowded. However, what I did not expect was cold food!!! The potatoes was not even warm and the same for the blueberry pancakes. I do not mind waiting for food, but it needs to be good. Life is too short and food is too expensive to not be good. Not to mention, the place reminded me of a dog kennel, without the kennels. I counted 5 dogs inside and one was a Rottweiler. Don't get me wrong, I love animal, but this place is not big enough for that many dogs inside at the same time. Not to mention, you can smell the dog hair while eating. Before the check arrived a lady came to ask how our food was, and I hesitated to mentioned it, but she saw that I was holding back and kept asking so I told her. She seem concerned like she was going to do something , she left the table only to never return. The waitress brought the check and I paid and left a 20% tip because it was not the servers fault. I do not see coming back here again when there are so many other better choices. read more

I've been here a few times and while I like the food and the atmosphere for the most part, I recently had two very disappointing experiences. A few days ago we were greeted with a bad attitude by this young lady who seemed off to my friends and I. At first I thought maybe we asked for too much but she maintained a bad attitude the entire time. We over heard her speaking to others with the same bad attitude. Then upon our return visit we had a wonderful experience with another server, Lindsey! She was a blast. Very attentive and full of fun facts, and very kind-- as you expect a normal server to be. However, a few bites in a lady walks in and immediately starts to belittle our server for something. I believe this woman to be an owner or manager? I mean the manner in which she spoke to this girl was rude and completely unprofessional. It was such a turn off to my friends and I. And now I'm thinking that this place, while I like the food, has very unprofessional management and it reflects on their servers too (except the one we got that day, lindsey). Aside from food being bad, a big turn off from a place is how they serve their customers and treat their workers. And this place seems like it does not treat their workers well and it's disrupting to customers. Will not be going back. read more

My girlfriend and I came here 2 more times on our most recent trip to Shelter Island where we were staying just down the street. I got the Eggs Benedict with grilled potatoes both times. The first time it was cooked perfectly, but the second time one of the eggs was overcooked and thus not runny. The hollandaise is super light, but creamy with a lot of flavor. The potatoes are super flavorful and I really like them. My girlfriend got the blueberry pancakes with an over easy egg both times and she loved them. OJ is super fresh and this place is super cheap. Less than $25 for 2 people both times. read more

Great location and plenty of parking. Really fun dive bar, it used to be a Dir Wienerschnitzel or Bol Weevils and now it's a little restaurant. The hostess was friendly and turned out that she was also the waitress. The food is what you would expect in a dive bar, we had a really good time and will definitely be back. I will start off by saying that the food here IS wonderful (amazing breakfast and lunch options). I eat here very regularly not just because of the food though, the service is always to die for. The servers make you feel very welcome and are always helpful. I suggest going and getting one of their sandwiches. They have indoor and outdoor seating available with good music playing. It is NOT luxurious but it is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. The prices are hard to beat here. Good foods, good moods. read more

This place is a great little dive right near the harbor! I went to comic con with my uncle and we were staying in a hotel near by, and had to visit twice cause of how good the food was. We both tried breakfast and lunch and loved our food. The decor is unique and gives the place great personality. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. Will be visiting again! We've been coming here for a long time. I'll start with my review of two stars has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FOOD OR SERVICE. We wanted to take my father to our favorite breakfast place on Sunday when he arrived in town. We arrived and it was the normal breakfast rush. Everyone was busy rushing around. Our server has served us many times before. She's the sweetest older woman, always very attentive and welcoming. Just before we were ready to order the manager came storming across the room and snapped loudly at our server demanding breakfast menus. Because the server didn't hear her she snapped rudely & loudly at her again and quickly snatched the menus and stormed away. It was noticed by EVERYONE in the room and it was by far the most unprofessional demonstration of power I had ever seen. When our server came to take our order she was visibly shaken and distraught. I felt embarrassed for her that she had been treated that way in front of the entire restaurant of people. The food as always was AMAZING, the service as always AMAZING. However the short dark haired manager who stood behind the bar slamming items around and disrespecting her other staff in front of customers WAS ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS! read more

Stumbled upon this place by accident after discovering Fiddler's was closed and I heard a couple coming out of there say "Good call, Hon!", so off we went. Very friendly greeting, sit anywhere, comfortable atmosphere. Good music playing, I could see they had books to read and games to play (sorry, forgot my phone in the truck and couldn't take pics). Bathrooms were clean. Katherine was our waitress and she was so nice and cool and helpful to us first-timers! My husband had the Western Style Burger and I had their Cheesesteak. You have got to be kidding me. Such a waste of real estate. You enter at your own risk. Do not go looking for fast, efficient service here. You will not find it. Restaurant menus are a reflection of the business...like a business card. Imagine if someone handed you their business card with stains all over it...torn...and just dirty. Would you feel confident spending money with them? The place is dingy, dirty, and disorganized. I guess those rating this five stars are either blind or consider this quaint. Here's the story.... Entered the building at 11:45. The only patrons 2 @ the bar, 2 at a table , another 2 near the back patio and 2 other parties out on the back patio. A total of 11 patrons on a Thursday at lunch. Mind you this small little island (Shelter Island) boasts 15 hotels, over 1500 live aboard boats and hundreds of houses within walking distance along with approximately 200 active businesses. A gold mine for any restaurant...just ask the Brigantine or the Ketch ( both packed at this same time). I ordered a drink which came and I sat on the patio. I told the server wife would be joining me at 12:05. She said wow that's "precise". Told her she was on a lunch hour and not a whole lot of time and I would pre order for us. I waited for the server to come back out and finally went in to say I was ready to order. I placed the order at 12:03. My wife arrived at 12:10 and ordered water. Food not delivered by 12 :30 so I went in to ask....server said it's being made and that she told the cook / chef. I then returned to table...and wife still has not gotten water. 12:40 food still not here so went in to show my dissatisfaction and was told by server that they had lots of other orders...still no more than 8 people inside restaurant. Server asked if I want food to go. Not even a sincere apology so I asked is it normal to wait 40 minutes for lunch. When food finally arrived, server mentioned that when you order a well done burger it takes longer. Im sorry but I can cook a 2 pound meatloaf well done in an hour...burgers well done in 15 minutes at best. As she left the table, I asked after her if she could bring my wife her water ( my wife is patient waiting 35 minutes for water) as she returned with the water and as she walked away, I asked perhaps we could get some silverware and napkins.....and I will end as I started.....you have got to be kidding me. Such a waste of real estate. WILL NOT BE BACK. Photos of the large amount of business during lunch at this highly prosperous establishment.
