I was quite excited to come here and have their food after everyone had recommended Ponko me to. I ordered the grilled teriyaki chicken plate with 2 sides. For sides I ordered Miso Green beans which are highly recommended and a side salad with the seasonal dressing. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the salad because the team at this location did not make sure to put this in my to go bag! When I arrived and let the staff my to go order name, upon receiving the to go bag I questioned why there were only two containers I was explained that the salad and green beans were in one box. Keep in mind these boxes are the size of small traditional Chinese take out boxes. This is a bit frustrating that I paid for a full meal and only received a partial one and when arriving to my final location realized it wasn't there. Overall the flavor was good and miso green beans were really good. Portion sizing was decent the chicken was a smaller portion than I expected. Main recommendation I have is attention to detail and training of staff, especially for the To Go orders! This is usually the customers who like your food and drive business during your slow days! If you guys plan on being competitive in the Uber eats of the world this has to be done correctly. From the service to the food, I highly recommend this restaurant!! I stumbled upon this restaurant (after reading the wonderful yelp reviews) and I'm so glad I did! We got the five piece Ponko chicken and were not disappointed. My favorite fried chicken sauces were the BBQ and the OG sauce. I ordered cole slaw as a side and the OG rice. I absolutely loved the cole slaw!! The staff working the bar were friendly, kind, quick to help us, and attentive to our needs during our time at the restaurant. I did order this on DoorDash as well but felt like the food was much better fresh out of the kitchen! I'm sure this is true with most doordashed foods! I went here for the first time back in March, just getting to a review now. I went with friends around lunchtime and it wasn't crowded. The bar staff was super friendly inviting us inside however, the staff at the order counter were not so friendly. It seemed like they didn't care about their job or the customers so the service is a 1/5. I ordered the spicy Ponko chicken w/ their fries since I heard that's what they're known for. The spicy chicken is a tiny but spicy but could be better. The sauce is good so I would recommend if you're looking for something new. The fries were so delicious!!! And the pickles that came on the side were awesome as well. Haven't ordered or had anything else from here but will probably give it another go soon. The tofu tenders and french fries are incredible. I would say a solid 8.27/10. The sweet potato fries are a 6.12/10 and the red velvet cake is a 8.71/10. The cake tastes store bought and one of the workers told me that it is brought in instead of being baked there but even still, it was tasty. The bartender (slightly older guy) was amazing. However, I absolutely hated the vegan patty. It was so crumbly and had a powdery aftertaste. I really didn't like it. The bread on the sandwich was also soggy and not the best. The coleslaw was mid. I walked in here thinking it was like the fried chicken equivalent of Chipotle, but I was pleasantly surprised to find so much more. First, the service is incredible; Kirk helped by walking through the menu making recommendations that probably turned out to be way better than what I would've gotten on my own (a salad). He recommended the 3 piece chicken plate with the OG sauce and 2 sides; I got the green beans and potato salad, but would also try the fries next time. Everything was incredible. I found out that they also have a full service bar that opens at 4:00, live trivia which gets a solid crown on Tuesday nights, and late night music including live music on weekends. So so happy that there is a PONKO location in Midtown! I have been a fan of PONKO for a while through Fooda catering, but have never been to their restaurant because of the long drive to Chamblee, but this is so worth the wait!! Their Midtown location with the back patio and hanging lights is very trendy and beautiful! The food was fantastic - I've always loved the Japanese fusion chicken tenders, the OG ponko (like teriyaki) and wasabi ranch sauce and their hibachi/sushi style rice. This was my first time trying their seaweed fries and it was fresh, crunchy, and delicious! The server also let me choose a different flavor for each of my chicken tenders (spicy, OG, or teriyaki), which exceeded my expectations! I think spicy and OG are my favorite (although teriyaki tasted very similar to OG). My least favorite sides are the miso green beans and potato salad - this lacked flavor compared to their other well known sides, but I overlooked this because of how much I loved everything else. The service during their grand opening was also unmatched. I've never felt more welcome! There was a greeter that opened the door, while there were servers floating around offering SO MANY free samples. Full tenders! Sliders! Everything! A server even came specifically outside and offered us a huge bowl of spiced edamame, which was PERFECTION. I went here because I saw the reviews and it was not far from City Hall which is where I was at the time. The vibe has a really nice chill vibe. The menu has variety but I think more options should be considered. I got the five-piece chicken (tender) plate with the ponko rice and the sweet ponko fries because they are out of the regular fries and overall the food was very very flavorful and tasty. My daughter enjoyed it. I enjoyed it however, I didn't think that the chicken was as much to rave about because I didn't know it was chicken tenders I thought they were chicken pieces like legs, wings, breast etc...but they weren't but the flavors came together well I just think it's a little overpriced and the parking isn't all that great either. read more

The tacos come with a chicken tender and some slaw and a jalapeño crema sauce on a flour tortilla. I would say 3 tacos is a good portion for a meal. I love the texture of their chicken tenders because they are crunchy without having too much breading like normal chicken tenders. The OG sauce is my favorite. This place serves up some of the best chicken I've ever had, no joke! I like the OG a bit more than the spicy, as I found it to be a bit crispier. The first time I ordered a 3-piece plate and tore through it with the gusto of a whale. On my second visit I ordered a 5-piece and still tore through it, not a crumb in sight. I have yet to try the BBQ but hope I can grab some soon. The rice could use a bit more added sauce, but the chicken is so good that I can't bring myself to deduct a star for rice. If I could give half stars this would be a 4.5 star review. The food here is always excellent. In terms of their Asian style fried chicken, they pretty much nail it. I would definitely recommend the ranch sauce along with it. Their fries are also exceptional. The outer, fried portion is perfectly crunchy/crisp, while the inside remains the French fry texture you know and love. Where the half star comes off is in the environment. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant itself is modern and clean. However, there have been a couple of occasions that we've visited where one employee in particular that assists taking orders from customers/applying discounts is extremely passive aggressive and will voice his complaints to other employees in the nearby area loud enough so that the customer can hear. read more
