Given the popularity of this local spot, thanks to the Tiktok hype, we came early Sunday morning (0800) and a female waitstaff fervently greeted us upon arrival. This is probably my newest favorite brunch spot. Came here for the first time on a Friday for brunch. We arrived around noon and there was no wait but the place was pretty packed inside. I would imagine there would be quite a line if you came on a weekend. We were seated immediately. The menu was very extensive from all day breakfast menu items, to specialty drinks to Mexican menu. We ended up ordering the following: - Cafe De Olla - (5/5) had a balance taste of cinnamon and sugar - Pumpkin Spice Latte - (4/5) - Taste was lite and bland but I really enjoyed the heart shape foam and cow cup it came in. - Ube Pancakes - (5/5) This was very good. The pancakes were fluffy and soft with tons of flavor. It was sprinkled with ube ice cream, mango bits and oats. - Applewood Smoked Brisket Skillet - (5/5) - The Smoked Brisket was very tender and flavorful and went nicely with the country potatoes, bacon, sausage, cheese and over easy eggs. - Shrimp Ceviche Tatemado - (5/5) - flavor was very good. They actually used fresh raw shrimp, instead of the usual cooked shrimp and it was topped with a nice rose cut avocado. Loved the flavor and presentation. The menu was very thoughtfully thought it. You can see a lot of creativity from the Chef from the bagged drinks to the "Boring Breakfast" to the interior and exterior design. They do have a 90 minute seating limit which I can understand since the ambience is very nice and people would want to stay and chat longer. They also offered purse hooks!! Service was good! We didn't see much of our original server but there was another waitress that kept on checking on us. They are having a raffle too. It's located in the Superior plaza so there is plenty of parking. Prices were more on the expensive side ($85 for 2 of us) but understandable for the food and ambience. Will definitely be back. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise, and I think I found a brunch place worthy of a 5 star rating. I like the owners sense of humor, attention to details, decor, and willingness to push culinary boundaries. There's a sense that he knows how to make traditional food, but finds making it a humdrum and mundane affair and much rather kick things up at least a few notches. Every little dish, I can taste the results of an epicurious eater, and am ambitious Chef. Cafe de Olla (5/5) I love cafe de ollas. If it's packed with sugar, cinnamon, and coffee, it's a winner in my book. The owner pushed this drink to the next level by muting all that sugar and cinnamon, and brought balance to it. It was balanced to the point, where you can really taste every little ingredient in the drink. That is pretty hard to do with a flavor as dominating as coffee. The ingredients are listed in the menu, so the owner is no worried about you copying it and making it yourself. He's even boldly challenging you to do better, he expressed confidence you can't. You can remake with same ingredients, but you won't be able to remake with the same sense of balance. I admire his boldness. Ube pancakes (5/5) Springy, flavorful, moist, great and substantial mouth feel. It's a blend of ube and pancakes. Some degree of ube ice cream and small cuts of mango. It screams of asiantic flavors. The wilingness to make this pancake in a place that looks like it came straight out of a Mexico, is quite telling of the Chef. Shrimp Ceviche (5/5) The dish was good. This was a boundary pushing Ceviche. While some might be offput by the nearly raw shrimp, as a person that regularly eats raw shrimp in sushi dishes, it reminded me of sweet shrimp. It has a very similar mouth feel, with the same zestiness you'd come to expect from a ceviche per bite. I really liked the chips they used for the ceviche, because it was big and sturdy, almost like a large edible spoon. There's also an avocado that is shaped into a rose, I do like that extra flare the owner put into it. Apple wood smoked brisket skillet (5/5) The potatoes in the dish is probably the worst item here, but it isn't too bad. I think the chef really wanted capture the soul of potatoes, cutting it into small chunks and crisping the outside to add a layer of aroma, followed by some chilli powder seasoning to kick it up a notch. I probably will take tatter tots over this any day, but, it is a respectable approach. The potatoes are covered by a thick layer of rich cheese, and underneath the potatoes is a layer of bell peppers flavoring the potatoes much like how these bell peppers might flavor a fajita. The brisket was good, it can definitely put this place on the map and allow this place to beat out most BBQ places I've tried. There's a ton of smoked flavor, but the meat isn't dried out, there is a good concentration of umami from the salting that is done to the meat, yet there's a ton of fat leaking from it to keep it moist. That fat seeps into the egg and potatoes as well. The bacon tastes like applewood smoked bacon, and it's kind of hard for that to stand out, but it's thick, crispy, and tastes of applewood smoked and bacon. The eggs, taste like eggs, with a thin layer of brisket grease. It came out to about 50 dollars a person after tax and tip, and this place is packed with people. I think it was quite the experience and well worth the experience. We will most likely be back to challenge the dishes the chef is brave enough to present before us. I am a big believer that if it's not good, don't bother putting it on the menu, so... We will see! Still, I have a tendency to keep ordering the things I like over and over again, so I'd have to fight that urge. The last time I was this pleasantly surprised might've been at Sanota Town or Parkway Grill. read more
