Today they're busy. Recommend you call for your orders. They offer lots of lunch plates. I like to eat the pork chops and request to put mushroom and onions on the side. My husband orders the steak. With their meal - you get choice of white rice, mash potatoes and salad or Mac or pasta salad. Queen St Cafe & Grill located in Aiea is a popular family owned restaurant with lots of hype for its inexpensive food options. The customers service was great. They greeted me on the way in and were helpful/patient when I didn't know what to order. This establishment was take out only so there are no waiting hours inside nor a restroom. Once I ordered, I was asked to wait outside, and the food did take a while to come out (about 25-30 minutes). The food itself was alright. The spicy ahi, to me, tasted warm and was different in texture. It tasted like it was sitting on hot rice which cooked it a bit. The Queen St Special didn't really have a lot of flavor. The best thing there was the firecracker chicken. It was packed with flavor and paired up nicely with the mac salad. I always call my order in ahead of time so I don't have to wait as long cause they can get pretty busy because their food is so good! My favorite is the Steak and Firecracker chicken. It was difficult and frustrating to even call in the order. And it was about a 2 hour wait time to pick up the food. Finally got the food and my salad and ahi katsu was drenched in sauce from the pasta salad, which is too sweet for me. Now I seen the reviews are mostly praising the food but this time for me was a fail. If not that, I do like to get the limu ahi poke, that also is very delicious. The only thing to note is that currently, they have implemented a $4 surcharge for items that have ahi in them. Sadness. Service is always great. Easy to make a phone order ahead of time, especially if ordering/picking up for a group. It does get busy around lunch time, so ordering ahead does help. I hate to give such a low rating after only one visit...but my gosh when I say that was the worst Mac salad I've ever tasted...so disappointing. I also seen a couple other reviews on here about their food needing seasoning...and I 100% agree. The Mac salad was warm and had absolutely no seasoning, it tasted like I was eating bland macaroni noodles with some mayo. Couldn't even force myself to eat a quarter of the plate before I just gave up. Really hope they do something to improve the seasoning issue. Would be happy to update rating if they did. read more

Second time here and it is worth it! I especially like the Calamari since it's made with strips of calamari steak and lightly tempura batter fried instead of the legs with hard breadcrumb batter (which is also good sometimes). Normally i use tempura sauce with it instead of the garlic aioli they provide. My friend usually gets the grilled kiawe steak and i tried it and also tender and not overcooked. One of my favorite spots on the island! Queen street is so good with steak and fish! They are super busy, so it is kind of like the lottery if you can get your call through and place your order on the phone :) As of Oct'21, they did raise the ahi upcharge from $2 to $4, which is a bit unfortunate. I get why this place is so popular! Food is delicious and it's good portion size. One time I ordered for pick up and they said it was an hour wait. So this time, I made sure I ordered a few hours before pick up! Had the chicken katsu, steak, calamari, and ahi poke. I really enjoyed the Don's Special. I like the combination of the fried shrimp, calamari and steak. Mac salad was good and it was crunchy goodness when I bit into the Chicken Katsu. Steak had great flavors as well. I loved it all but there was an extra charge for Ahi since ahi prices are going up. I said it was okay for the additional $2 but my ahi poke was a very small size. All call your order ahead as this place can get busy during the lunch hour. I always get a girl that answers and is always super nice and repeats the order back to me to help ensure the order comes out right. Prices went up like everywhere else. "The food here is so 'ono" and "broke da mouth", according to my friends and family, and I 100% agree! The first time I came here, I ordered the Furikake Garlic Chicken and I thought it was yummy. The chicken is tender and juicy with a sweet, buttery garlic flavor. You can taste the garlic but it's not overpowering. The Furikake on top gives it a little extra flavor. But once my friend gave me a piece of her Firecracker Chicken, it was so bomb! Lol. Since then, I've been getting the Firecracker Chicken. As always, their chicken is tender and juicy. I usually take out the chicken skin (at other restaurants), but the chicken here is so good I would eat the whole thing. I love the sauce on top because it gives it a little spice and adds more flavor. On my most recent visit with my siblings, we shared the combo plate with Firecracker Chicken and Chicken Katsu. I honestly got tired of chicken katsu in general because the katsu I ate at parties and gatherings would be dry and sometimes hard to chew, but Queen St Cafe's Chicken Katsu is good! It's tender and juicy, not dry. The portions (at least for the chicken plates) are big and super filling that two people can share, unless you want leftovers for later. Each plate comes with 2 scoops of white/brown rice or garlic mashed potatoes, and a choice of mac salad, tossed greens (that comes with a selection of 8 salad dressings), OR pasta salad. Utensils are only given upon request, so if you don't ask you don't get. Any extra bag or extra utensils costs $0.25 each. They still require masks when you enter and serve one customer at a time, so the following customers form a line outside. There is no seating area and it's takeout only. The staff has always been nice to us and kindly answers whatever questions we have. The wait can be long because they get a lot of customers so you could be waiting 15-30 minutes. But it's cool that they take down your phone number so you can either wait in your car or walk around to the nearby stores/cafes/restaurants, and then they will call you when your order is ready.
