Ojai and tourist please continue to support this grocery store! Quick story, had bought a few items from the store. Including two big glass Voss water bottles. While walking to my car one slipped out of the bag and broke on the sidewalk. I went back in asked for broom and dust pan. A gentleman I believe was the owner (considering he was easy going and checking in with his employees, roaming store) gave me what I needed to clean up broken glass in front of the Lavender Inn. He walked out with me saw the mess, helped me clean up all the shards and pieces of glass off the sidewalk. Ten minutes later and two cuts on my finger and toe. He tossed the glass for me, gave me ointment and bandaids for my cuts. As well as a chilled bottle of Voss water for free to replace the one I broke ( I made it across the street this time with out breakage). EXCELLENT SERVICE! It's this type of ownership that gives a dam about community, customer service and being of service that we as consumers should support! Thank you Rainbow! read more

Excellent quality selection but really pricey. Prepared food are hit and miss but for the most part unique with many vegetarian selections. Can be pretty expensive though (like $10 for a piece of spinach lasagna). For organic food and apothecary items, this is probably the only place you'll find everything under one roof in town, but be prepared with your wallet. read more

The food was good, the place was very environmentally friendly, and a man came out before we even sat down to give our dog water. Thumbs up. The food from the deli was a bit expensive but I guess deli food always is. I enjoyed having some tasty veggies, tofu, and salmon for brunch. read more

Some foods are pretty expensive, they support local farmers. Good food, healthy organic.

Totally awesome selection of natural beauty products, and I'm talking rows of them. Most of the prices are about about 15% more than Amazon, but what can you expect? It's a small price to pay for being able to sample all the products on your own skin. read more

Rainbow Bridge has been a staple since high school whenever I'm in Ojai for organic foods, supplements and products. They have been serving the community since before "organic" and "sustainable" were cool. The deli always has great prepared foods and sandwiches. My standard order is the grilled tofu - I try to replicate it at home, but it always tastes better here. Grab a few items and head to Libbey Park to eat outside. For a local sustainable grocery and deli, the prices are reasonable, but the produce can be expensive. read more

I like their deli mostly and their beverage selection. This small health food store is what you would expect/want in ojai. Only drawback is that it's a pretty small store so the selection isn't too big. Not somewhere you would load up on staples but it's good for when you want some specialty items or a quick/healthy lunch read more

My favorite place to get a healthy alternative lunch, snack or groceries! I eat at the deli all the time I love the Mexican bowl, the Ojai smoothie and Curried turkey! The staff are always bright eyed and always have a welcoming smile on their faces and are so helpful! I recommend to anyone who wants quality food for a decent price! read more

Rainbow Bridge has a good selection, but it has the vibe of a whole foods (though its definitely not as cheap). I go in because it is conveniently located, but I try to do the majority of my shopping elsewhere. None the less, they have some very nice employees. read more

This may well be the greatest natural food market I've ever been to! From their loose leaf organic teas and spices to their authentic japanese incense. The health and beauty section was packed with brands I've never seen, local fare abound!!! If you are in Ojai, shop no where else! I'm disappointed in the customer service in this store. After buying lunch, dinner & several expensive gifts here during a day trip to Ojai (an otherwise perfect day full of kind people!) I was surprised that when I asked for the key to the restroom before they closed they seemed put out, loudly telling another employee that I needed to use it. I said "that's ok, I won't bother you" & when I returned to my car I saw that it wasn't close to closing time at all. I decided to go back in & I promised to be out the door in time. They made a big deal about opening the door as I left & I showed them the time - that I was indeed leaving before closing time. I spent at least $90 here today, but that shouldn't matter - you shouldn't embarrass or try to shame a customer for being human no matter how much they do or do not spend. Management, maybe you should treat your employees better so they aren't so grumpy & rude to their customers? One clerk said she skipped her break. Happy workers = happy customers. Might I suggest - go to ANY Trader Joes to see how it's done. Literally thousands of visits & not one rude exchange ever. read more

This review is specific to the deli section. I have had fantastic experiences with Rainbow Bridge otherwise, and buy from there often when I am in town. I have been a customer since they opened. Usually the customer service is helpful. However, this one particular experience was truly awful. About a year back I ordered my standard sandwich at the deli section. I waited for about 5 minutes for the order to be completed while standing to the side of the counter. No big deal. But then another customer came and collected his order, apparently collecting mine by accident as well. I waited another few minutes and then alerted a deli employee that I had not received my sandwich. Then, the other customer returned with my sandwich, having both touched it and opened the top of the sandwich, announcing that it was not his order. I saw that it was my sandwich. I started to explain this to the deli cashier, and then a man marched to where we were standing, and demanded "what is the problem here?". This man turned out to be Albert, a manager (I made sure to ask him after the following ensued). I told Albert that the other customer had my sandwich, no problem, but I was still waiting for a fresh one to be made up. Meanwhile, someone else further along the line had ordered a similar sandwich on different bread. Albert asked me, "why don't you take that one?" I told him that was different bread. Then Albert said, "you should take the sandwich that the other customer took by accident! He didn't take a bite of it!" I replied that he had touched the sandwich and I didn't care to have it at that point. Then Albert's response was to literally yell in my face and say "you are holding up the line! Customers are waiting!" I told him calmly that I did not think it was appropriate to speak to customers that way, and he responded "well thank you for the advice about that." I understand that sometimes people have stressful moments, or something going on in their personal lives, and lash out. It can be difficult to manage a busy operation. But this was so totally out of line, especially in a zen-atmosphere, non-chain, high priced natural foods store in a town that prides itself on kindness and tranquility. I have hesitated to return because of it. I expect more from Rainbow Bridge. read more

This review is for the Rainbow Natural Food Store and the Rainbow Bridge Warehouse. As a resident of Ojai who shops both stores on a regular basis, I've decided to review these stores due to the rude and unfriendly cashiers in both stores. The Warehouse is the worst. The Warehouse staff is consistently haughty, moody and unfriendly. They are so consistently unpleasant I've decided I won't be shopping there any more. One never knows what bad mood one is going to encounter from the sales women. One would expect so much more from a store filled with lovely spiritual items as well as natural foods for pets. The Natural Food Market is slightly better in this regard however the older women check out cashiers seem to have difficulty being friendly to the customers. One can usually expect them to be brisk and smug. The owner of these 2 stores should take seriously this and other reviewers that have complained about the sales people and cashiers in both stores. I for one am finally fed up and will do as little shopping in these stores as possible going forward. There are other options in town and in the county. Take a lesson from the friendly, cheerful, helpful and always upbeat staff at Trader Joe's if you care that your customers are being treated with warmth and respect and will want to continue spending their money in your stores. read more

Terrible Bulk Foods section. Yes - they probably have what you are looking for - but you may have to go to 2 different buildings to find it. What kind of store divides their bulk staples into 2 separate buildings? Buying a few staple bulk items like oatmeal and flour can involve 2 separate buildings and 2 separate check-out lines. Rudest. Grocery Store. Ever. I waited at the deli counter (by myself, no other customers) for about ten minutes while the 3 employees and a manager (I think from the slightly different uniform) talked and ignored me within 10-20 feet of me. They even occasionally looked in my direction while failing to acknowledge they could see me and not, you know, letting me order or anything. So I left and got a sandwich elsewhere. That was the rudest customer service I've ever experienced and I've lived in both New York and LA (both kinda famous for brusque waiters). F**k this place, there are other places to get great organic and local food a short walk away that don't involve being treated like a paraiah. Go elsewhere for the sake of your self-esteem, if nothing else. read more
