Idk if it's because I got my food at 7:30pm, even though it's not that late but I would have rather ate Publix sushi (which I think is usually pretty good, atleast Publix sushi is cold) There was absolutely nothing special about this place. I got a pink lady roll and a 200 tuna roll and both were warm and quite gross. Very bland and boring, especially the tuna roll, the soy sauce didn't even help. They were warm! Just ew, and I literally never write yelp reviews- I've wrote one before for Taco Bell when I was 17. I just wouldn't choose this place to eat at. Maybe in person it would be better but take out was just bad. My mom got a bento box with warm sushi and very mid chicken and veg hibachi that wasn't anything special at all. I would be remiss if I didn't post an update based on 3 recent experiences, as food quality has definitely gone downhill. I recently got the shrimp tempura. The shrimp tempura was pre breaded and tasted freezer burned. The veggie tempura pieces were fried in oil that wasn't hot enough, resulting in a soggy, greasy mess. Other dishes that were previously good have been over sauced and otherwise ill prepared. We gave it 3 tries for off nights or being short handed, but all equally disappointing. I read reviews for this location before we visited, but my mother-in-law requested and it's Mother's Day, so regardless of the reviews, We were going. Most reviews said the food quality was bad. I disagree. My entire experience was wonderful. The person who took my order over the phone was very kind and helpful, providing me with the options for children's menu. I called in for a takeout order they had got my name wrong and the amount was supposed to be $19.34 I was told over the phone when I get to the desk the amount is still $19.34 and that is what I gave them with my cash app card this morning I wake up and at five something in the morning they had added on three dollars I put on the receipt under tip or gratitude as they put on their receipt $0.00 So why was I charged again this morning and the final total come out to be $21.34 I would've tipped if you deserved it I am a dancer. It was ok for what it was. We both got the Bento Boxes. The "greeters" at the front desk leave a lot to be desired. They were not friendly or welcoming at all. No greeting, no smile, just a stone face. I almost walked back out because I didn't feel welcomed and like I was "bothering" them. When we left no one said, "Goodbye, thanks for coming in." Nothing. A great place if youre looking to pay to get abused! I was never treated so badly as a patron in my life! I was verbally abused and harrased by 2 staff members. Manager saw it did nothing. I was accused of saying something to the Bartender which I never said. She should have clarified whatever I said first before she involved other patrons and staff members. I hope this was a big lesson for her. I literally had no idea what she was talking about. I barely spoke to her except to put orders in. I was preoccupied with my company. This is a lunch review after several visits during the lunch hour. I have never eaten dinner at Red Bowl. My overall impression is that Red Bowl is trying to do too many things at once and none of them are excellent, but none are horrible. They have a full service bar in a somewhat separated area from the main dining area. At lunch, not of much use other than possibly to have seating for single diners. They have a sit down sushi bar and the sushi is just okay. These are the skinniest rolls I have seen (e.g., the spicy tuna roll) and it almost feels like sushi is an "add on" to the restaurant concept. They have an "Asian" menu featuring many Chinese style dishes and Japanese style Bento boxes, which, I suppose, hearkens to their "Asian Bistro" moniker. Kudos to Red Bowl for having a gluten free menu in addition to the other choices. Staff does feel rushed, but they are efficient. Often there is a short wait for a lunch table. Summing it all up, this is just an OK place to grab lunch. I have never had any food experience, service or atmosphere experience that has wowed me into returning. She was busy beating the keyboard or computer but with my entrance right in front of her gave no greetings. More customers came behind me and we all stood with no recognition or explanation why she is not even lifting her head. When she finally speaks it's "Do you have an order, what's your name, here". And proceed to the next customer in the same manner. When I asked for her name she acted like she didn't want to tell and I'm not even sure if Elaine is her name. My wife & I went there Sat at 4pm, very few tables seated. We ordered an appetizer (squid salad) which sat on the counter for 10 minutes while our waitress was MIA. After she finally brought it we watched the sushi chef place our main course on the counter, where it also sat for a while as our waitress had disappeared again. My wife ordered the Dragon Roll, which had a tempura shrimp in it. Once delivered to our table, it was cold and rubbery, and tasted awful! My 2 rolls were gloriously unremarkable. When I went inside it was COVID precautious with distance, mask and sanitizer. I got my order, which was correct, and went back to work just a minute down the road. Its one of my go-to spots for cheap eats. Half off sushi during happy hour is awesome! The staff here is nice but you can tell if they're super busy because everyone is flustered and rushing around. The place is not very large so if you have a party of 5+ you're going to wait a while. I like to try new things when I go, I've loved the Thai Red Curry and a variety of typical Americanized Chinese chicken dishes but the Tangerine beef was a fail. It definitely tasted burnt, I should've returned it but I was not in the mood to wait while my friend ate her lunch. $6.96 is starting price for meals and you can get sushi for around $3 during happy hour! The location is convenient but getting into the parking lot is not if you're coming from the north. The wait staff is knowledgeable and kind, the food is nothing short of perfect! Serving size, flavor, price, and variety and all second nature the bistro! If you find yourself craving any kind of Asian cuisine whilst on this side of town or even when you aren't, Red Bowl simply can not be compared to anything else I would recommend there Poultry Based dishes as there chicken is to die for! I have been to this restaurant three times now. All three times the food was great. Last night I took my mom there for a late dinner. I had 3 pieces of sushi left on my plate and the waiter said "just so you know, we close in 10 minutes. Hand me your, ah, please hand me your bill." (He had already ran our cards and was asking for the signed copy before it was closing time!!) He practically ran us out the door before they were even closed. I was almost finished eating and my mom had already finished so it was not necessary for him to say a word and they were not even closed!! I worked in the service industry for years and never asked a customer to leave at all but especially never before closing time. So rude!! I will not be returning to this establishment. Too bad since it's a great atmosphere and the food is quite good. Update: to the owner- you are truly terrible at your job. All of your responses to customers with bad experiences is to make excuses and insult the customer for being disappointed with your restaurant rather than do as good managers do and address the problem. You SHOULD be apologizing for the horrible service at your establishment and making an effort to correct your staff for their rude behavior. Not only will I never come back here but I will be sure to share this experience with everyone I know who mentions this place and tell them what a jerk you are. My Philadelphia Sushi Roll has a lot of cream cheese in it, which when I asked my server to fix/remake, he was very nice and It was corrected quickly! My lunch special came in a to go box which was a misunderstanding in communication with the server. I wouldn't rate a place this low if their food was good... but that's the thing... been here twice... once in the summer of 2021 while preggo and then a month ago in 2022. Girl took my order...I said no spicy pls... she comes back with my food and said "here's your food, but the chef couldn't make it not spicy" So I waited with a toddler just for her to say "too bad so sad". I asked her why is she telling this to me now that we have our food and she offered me to order something else. Something else would take another 10-15 min. She stood there arguing over "I said he said" when I told her she didn't notify my husband about additional charges either. And she just said "I don't make the menu". Anyways.
