The first time I visited the Red Chopstick, many years ago, I was traveling alone, and the kind lady owner came and sat down across me in my booth to take my order. It might sound strange but in actuality it felt refreshing to be approached this way, especially after arriving to Sedona in the dark. It was so kind of her to sit with me and talk over options, and the food was terrific. I was lucky enough to visit Sedona again recently and I made sure that my family placed a large order from this lovely establishment, and everyone loved the food! We especially enjoyed the Moo Shu Chicken and the Singapore Rice Noodles. We happened to be staying at the lodge next door and stumbled upon this gem. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and tastiness of the food. The place is cozy and perfect for our family of 4. I was craving some good old, basic Chinese food. And this restaurant did not disappoint! I had the tofu lo mein, and my wife had the odd couple. My cousin and I stayed at the nearby Sedona Village Lodge for trip to Sedona. Red Chopstick was right next door and was therefore a convenient option for dinner for one night. We found our meal to be an enjoyable experience. At 5 pm on Sunday, we were seated right away. The entree prices were reasonable although the portions were not the largest. One unexpected treat when we ordered the Sizzling Rice Soup was the waiter letting me pour the rice into the soup. I'm staying at Sedona for few nights and this was the only Chinese food restaurant in the area that looked good so we drove over for some dinner and we both left feeling satisfied. I saw someone's pic of egg foo young with tofu and it grabbed me. So I ordered the same. I never had this dish before and it's basically an omelette topped with their delicious brown gravy. I've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for a few years in the Sedona area. I'm hoping I found it. This location is actually in the Village of Oak Creek. I've only been here one time, and that was to pick up some food, as we are still in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic. The service at the counter was good, the food came quick enough, but the price was a little high. Hence the 4 stars. That's pretty typical for Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. The caveat to that is the Crispy beef is REALLY crispy and consequently very chewy. Your going to earn all that flavor. The soup was different than we're used to but flavorful for miles. Not the best Chinese food I have ever had but it wasn't too disappointing. 2 out of the 3 dishes was good so I guess for our first time here we did pretty good. The restaurant is pretty big and we were seated right away which was very nice. We ordered the mushu chicken to start and it was okay. It tasted good but we had to wrap the food in the tortillas ourselves (I've seen them come pre-wrapped) and the tortillas were so thin and hard they cracked and fell apart when we tried to take a bite. The chicken chow mein was fine. But all chow mein is delicious to me. We ordered some shrimp with lobster sauce and that was the most disappointing dish of the nice. The sauce was a strange sticky consistency and really didn't taste good. Small hint of lobster according to my husband but I couldn't taste it. All in all the food was fine. But I wouldn't go here a second time if it meant missing trying out other restaurants in the area. read more

We really love the lunch specials once it comes with egg roles and soup ( the sweet & sour soup is savory spicy deliciousness). Crispy Beef and Sesame Chicken and Lemonn Chicken and Buddha's Deligt (if your a Veggie lover) are some of our favorites. Only don't order the Sizzling Soup to go cuz it should be eaten in the restaurant as the sizzle just doesn't travel well. My partner and I have a tradition of doing No Reservations for valentines day because its just more fun that way to get surprised! We tried two different spots before hand but the wait were super long. Then we ended up here and got seated right away. The food was good, we ordered the wonton soup, mongolian beef, bok choy and marble cheesecake and martini. All for $50! Definitely best value in Sedona. Plus the service was so friendly and cute. We really appreciated how social distanced the tables were and pretty pottery everywhere so decor was nice. We felt like we had our own VIP section in the restaurant cause we couldnt see any other party, just vases in our corner. read more

Came here twice during our stay in Sedona. First time we ate inside, and were led to our seats by a nervous and jittery waitress. She was very nice but kept seemed to keep on forgetting the last thing that she said to us, and she seemed not too confident in her mannerisms yet. She was super nice and attentive though! When dining in my mother and I each got our own cups of hot and sour soup. It was pretty good and was flavored deeply with a lot of different spices, but the cups were a little on the small side. For my main entree I got the crispy beef, which actually had an ample amount of beef in it. The beef itself was fried and crisped pretty well underneath the heaps of glaze covering it, which tasted like something of what you'd expect at an Americanized-Chinese food restaurant, but done very well. My mom ordered the chicken moo shu and loved it! The other time we ordered take out and I got the orange chicken, and my mom the chicken egg foo young. Again, I was surprised at how much meat there was in my chicken dish, and I actually had a bit of trouble finishing it all even after hiking all day. I liked that there was actually some real orange peels swimming in the sauce, and the fragrant character of the orange peel was transmitted very well into the dish. But what I really enjoyed was the gravy that came with the egg foo young. It was super savory and wasn't heavy at all. I really wish I had ordered that instead! This place really surpassed my expectations! I am actually a fan of that kind of cheap Americanized-Chinese food flavor. But I don't mean to call this place cheap as all their ingredients seemed great, and nothing served to us felt way too overdone, with too much MSG or anything. Although the prices were higher than what you'd expect outside of a tourist location like Sedona, I was still always pleasantly surprised at how much food I got each time.
