We came to red rock café for Sunday breakfast, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The inside has the charm of a clean modern diner. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast food options are endless. We got the Carne Asada skillet, (my personal favorite), chicken fried steak, and pancake. You will definitely need to come to this restaurant with an empty stomach because the portions are really big for the price point and you will leave feeling full and happy! Ordered a take out and was so disappointed! Ordered waffles for 2 and was charged $27.38 are you kidding! Didn't even get butter or syrup, drove home and just dry waffles! . We were looking for a spot to pick up something on our drive back into Phoenix from a day of going through trails in Sedona. While looking for places we saw "Giant Cinnamon Roll" and had to stop by. It was roughly 30 mins before closing and luckily there was 1 left and we were able to snatch it up. We also ordered a skillet to go as well. The skillet was very good and they used a variety of potatoes in it, but the cinnamon roll was massive. The roll was soooo good and wasn't overly sweet, which is what I like. Having the left overs with my morning coffee was even better. Customer Service was the best and they went to make sure that last roll was ours. It's a shame to learn that this place is no longer dog friendly. :( They said 2 incidents had happened with dogs biting staff and after that no more dogs allowed. I'm not sure how 2 incidents happened and I don't think dogs just go around bitting people unless someone tries to pet them and they feel threatened? Anyways it was a cool enough day to leave the dogs in the car with the windows down. We only liked to come here for the huge cinnamon roll and because it was dog friendly. Today the hubs, our older son and I took a drive out to Sedona to specifically try this breakfast hotspot. Yummy does not do it justice let me say. In fact it was so good and the staff extremely friendly that my son is heading back out next weekend with some friends. So it took us an hour and a half to get here and the main draw as far as my hubby was concerned was the 3lb cinnamon roll with raisins and walnuts. Sooo good. We brought 2.5lbs of it home. Eyes were bigger than our stomachs. So the hubs ordered eggs, potatoes (with roasted carrots) and hash. I got the huevos rancheros enchiladas with hands down the best ranchero sauce ever. After several days of talking about eating "Arizona" food, I finally got my chance. My chum and I came here for breakfast after a day of boozy debauchery in town (how we both had appetites to scarf food down is beyond me, though my working theory is that the simple act of being on vacation and travelling a lot speeds up your metabolism dramatically), largely because of its reputation and also because it was on the way back down to the Phoenix area. For some reason I was picturing it as a standalone building in the main area of Sedona, but it's actually in a strip mall about 10 minutes south, which we found pretty easily. I side-eyed the Giant Cinnamon Roll option (a reckless dining party behind us actually got it for their breakfast, and it IS enormous. I don't know how you don't just end up enduring a massive sugar crash before 8am), but ultimately decided to go with the most Tex Mex-ish item I saw on the menu, the Blue Corn Huervos Rancheros ($14.25). It's relatively easy to find this dish on any legit brunch place in America, but this one for sure had a little extra zip to it, courtesy of the homemade rancheros sauce. I'm pretty sure it was a voluntary add-on and not automatically included, but I also got some avocado to top it off. Might as well have a legit super food soak up some of yesterday's bourbon. It definitely hit the spot and is something I'd get again here. Was it the absolute, unequivocal best version I've ever demolished? Eh, I don't know that I'm going THAT far, but it was pretty scrumptious and I never had a second thought about the novelty item Cinnamon Roll. Our waitress was very pleasant, as per usual with literally every establishment we frequented on this trip. I honestly can't remember the last time I really had to wait around for brunch food in any scenario, but everything came to our table super quickly and as ordered. Given that we were within a stone's throw of Sedona proper, they could probably get away with charging a few dollars more for these entrees so I thought the price point was pretty competitive. This person was rude instead of just doing her job. That's the reason for only 4 stars. If they will do that to one customer it's likely they will be rude to another. My amazing wife always does research when we are travelling so that we will have good places to go and check out. She picked Red Rock Cafe based on our taste buds and proximity to our hotel. We stopped in on our first morning in Sedona. We came here about 10am on a Thursday in January. It is located in a small strip mall in the Village of Oak Creek, which is south of Sedona a few miles. It was a little busy when we arrived but we were seated right away and provided menus and waters. After reviewing the menu, my wife decided to get the Red Rock Chef Salad and I decided to get the grilled cheese with Swiss and added ham. Our orders arrived in a timely fashion, looked amazing and tasted delicious. My wife thought the salad was huge and loaded with lots of goodies. My ham and Swiss was also very tasty. BTW when it says "BIG" bread on the menu it is the brand of the bread as we were told from our server, Kendra. The interior was clean and comfortable and Kendra took very good care of us. My wife also used the restroom and said it was very clean as well. Also, we saw another couple order one of the 3 lb. cinnamon rolls and WOW they are huge!! Unfortunately this was a miss for us. Two stars is being generous in my opinion. We came Friday morning and were told it was a 45 minute wait. The lobby area is small so we spent most of the time on the cold or car since we were told we could wait for a text when ready. Time wise they were pretty on point for wait time. We were seated in the very back area of the restaurant and after our order taken we were pretty forgotten about. Our server spent her time either MIA or chatting with obvious locals. My son had French toast. Another order of biscuits and gravy as well as eggs over medium and sausage. No one in our group of six enjoyed their meal. French toast lacked flavor and syrup. We couldn't ask for more because the waitress was nowhere to be found. Sausage was like a hockey puck and viscose dry I felt I carried it in my chest all day; heavy and awful. They did cook the eggs right. Definitely not worth the wait, service sucked and food meh. Go elsewhere. There are so many better options nearby. Blue corn huevos rancheros!!! I love this place for breakfast when I'm in Sedona. I usually get mine to go because I want to have breakfast with my pug in the room. I haven't dined in but it always seems to have a line with locals whenever I go to pick up my food. You have the option to add a protein to the huevos rancheros which is great because I always want more protein at breakfast. Hot damn as I'm writing this review, i'm seriously considering heading back here before we scoot back to Scottsdale. So their Signature Skillet was amazing (see attached pic) as was the service as was the staff. This was an amazing first breakfast experience here near Sedona and was worth the 15 minutes out of your way to head here. We arrived at 10:15 on a Thursday and must've *just* missed the rush because every table was full. Since the weather was nice, we opted to wait for a patio table (the misters are wonderful!) even though we could've been seated inside sooner. They take your phone number and text when the table is ready; they even use an online service that lets you see your position in line for a table. Due to COVID restrictions, they are not allowing people to wait inside, but they have benches outside in the shade that were perfect. I got the Grande Burrito which gives you eggs + any 4 ingredients (winning combo = avocado, Turkey sausage, spinach and bell peppers) which came with a side of home fries; I topped it with the house salsa and hot sauce and cleared my plate! My husband got 2 egg any style with Chorizo that came with hash browns and pancakes; he also ate everything, and his only regret was not getting the Chorizo mixed in with the eggs. When we go out to eat - we mean business! We also got the bottomless coffee (too early for mimosas :) ), and they bring a fun little carafe for the table so you don't have to wait for refills. Despite the name of this cafe, it does not offer a view of Sedona's famous red rocks; it's in a shopping center overlooking a parking lot.
