This was our first visit, we loved the food, the staff was great, and the widows views reminded us of the Northwoods. The Polish platter was my selection, and very delicious. It pains me to give 3 stars to a restaurant that has food this good. If it wasn't for the service, it would have been 5 stars in my book. 4 of us came in on a Sunday night around 6:30. Although the hostess was disorganized and seemed frazzled, we were seated within 5 minutes on the patio. We got waters right away but it took about 10 minutes for the waitress to come and take our drink order. This was surprising because at the time, we were the only ones on the patio. Once we placed our order (food and drink), it took an additional 15 minutes for us to get drinks. We had two cocktails and two sodas.Typically, I stick to just water, however, the water here tastes really bad. Like well water with a strange taste/smell. I couldn't drink it and ended up having to order a soda. The soup/salads arrived before the drinks. My husband said his salad was tasty and I was a huge fan of the pickle potato soup. Our entrees were the stars of the show! Someone ordered the full slab of ribs which was falling off the bone and delicious. My husband had an Italian beef sandwich which he said was very good. I got the half duck special which was incredible. Easily the best duck dish I've ever had. Unfortunately, the waitress never came by to check on us or refill drinks. Then we had to wait a long while to get our bill after asking for it. The plus side, the cost was extremely reasonable. Overall, amazing kitchen, not great management. Great food and service. Went with a group of 5 and everyone got the Polish platter. Loved all of it. We got pierogi appetizers too and requested all potato and cheese as it's our fave. So delicious! Obviously homemade. My French onion soup was awesome and a very large portion. Even the bread basket is better than usual. Large cracker variety and fresh bread. Get the Napoleon and Orange cake for dessert. Eat the first there as it is best fresh and take the cake home if you're too full but don't skip it. read more

We went there for the first time. It's also our LAST time. I ordered GOLDEN JUMBO SHRIMP. What I got was 8 FLAT shrimp that looked like the crap you get in the frozen section of a grocery store. The mashed potatoes had no gravy or butter and was a tiny little scoop the size of a scoop of ice cream. The polish sausage was also terrible. You get better polish sausage at any fast food joint. This review is only for the service as we never ate at the restaurant and never will. We were celebrating my 50th birthday and called for an outdoor reservation for 10 on a Sunday at 6:00. The person who answered the phone said no problem but called back 2 minutes later and said she would have to check with the owner. I asked what the problem was and she said on Sundays they are normally busy (I would hope so). I said that is exactly why I was calling to reserve outside. They called back at 5:45 (apparently that is when the owner comes in on Saturdays) and said that they couldn't accommodate us. Thanks for not allowing me to enjoy my Polish heritage on my 50th birthday. Sabatino's, one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago, was able to put 2 tables together outside and accommodate us. Amazing restaurant!!! The owners are super friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious and homemade and you can tell they cook it fresh! Tastes like your great grandma made it. I recommend the house special shrimp, lobster, or the steak. The soup of the day is always exquisite and the garlic dressing for the salads are to die for! Sure this place has its quirks and the workers are all over the place but that's because they are BUSY trying to do it all while keeping the restaurant small town and a home cooking feeling! read more

Horrible service! Let me just mention a few things that went wrong. we were seated right away, but no server approached us for at least 15 minutes, I ended up going to the bar myself for cocktails. When we finally ordered they bought our salads, but no napkins or silverware, Hello! So we got to stare at our food until I was able to finally track her down. Salads were very watery, what a shame as the creamy garlic dressing was ruined by the puddle of water under my lettuce. Ok, wanted a second cocktail, ended up going back to the bar myself, no server in sight. Was it busy you ask? Yes, it was but a business needs to have enough staff on hand. Finally,when our entrees arrived, my wife had ordered prime rib, with a baked potato, guess what? No butter to be found ( and we were not served any bread and butter either) or salt and pepper! Back to the bar, I got the salt and pepper shakers and butter from the wonderful bartender,who easily was the highlight of the night. When I returned, my Wife had finally gotten a waitstaff and she had bought salt and pepper grinders, when my wife tried grinding some fresh pepper on her potato, the entire mill opened and spilled whole peppercorns all over her plate, when I checked the salt mill, it was screwed on so loosely, it would have done the same thing, cheap junk! They did replace her potato, but needless to say the evening was ruined. So, how about the food, I had roast pork with potato dumplings, pork was dry, dumplings were bland and their wasn't enough gravy, her prime rib was under cooked, and the potato didn't exactly look freshly cooked. when asked if their was any they could do, I suggested a comp dessert, "Oh no, we can't do that " she replied we won't be back, and I hope you dont either read more

This is a hidden gem! So cute and Polish kitsch inside. And it is right on Deep Lake for a beautiful sunset view. Food was excellent. Service very friendly and efficient. We have always been happy with Reflections food and service, but last night was not the case . We had 5:30 reservations for outdoor dining/ we wanted the table in the shade - a 4 top..the owner said no, was giving us table in the sun. Then they showed us another table down the steps which also was in the sun. We sat down and it was very hot- we were offered table inside , but due to covid we weren't interested. My rueben sandwich had hardly any corned beef on it- very disappointing - I ordered baked potato instead of fries / got fries.. told waitress I ordered potato and she seemed aggravated and said she will bring it to me. We ended up moving on our own to a little bar table that was in the shade Then on our way out there was the table we wanted with only 2 people at it! Excellent Polish-American food and a lovely setting to boot. We frequent this place more often during the summer because we enjoy sitting outside, but dining inside as the sun set over the lake tonight was the perfect ending to our day. Amelia served us and was warm and attentive. Would definitely ask for her again. On Saturday, March 18, we had a reservation for 6 people. We showed up with 12. It was my parents' 50th wedding anniversary - they had their reception in that very room in 1967. The staff and owner, Anna, figured out how to make it work with our 6 extra people - even though the restaurant was very busy! Service was wonderful. Food was terrific! I had the baked polish sausage with sauerkraut. The plate comes with a little red cabbage and mashed potatoes too. Really, really good. Husband ordered the prime rib special - perfect. My dad didn't need the menu - he knew he wanted the Polish Platter. Mom got the walleye - which looked absolutely beautiful (and I'm not a big fan of fish). Also ordered at our table were pierogi, burgers, and pasta. Everybody loved their food. Even the 8-year-old. As I said, the place was very busy. Not once did I feel like we were ignored or that we had to "flag down" our server. These people really know how to run a restaurant. On our way out, Anna asked to see the photos my mom brought from their reception. They chatted for a few minutes. It was really touching. This is not a review of the food, as we didn't actually have any thing to eat. This is a review of the way we where treated. We went to eat here at 5:15pm on a Saturday night. When we drove up, my first thought was that this was a nice place. They have a beautiful location on the lake with both indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is kind of dark, but it was well decorated with an old world ambience, which fits as they are known for their Polish food. As we went in it wasn't really clear where the hostess station was. The first thing you see is the bar area. You have to go around the corner to the hostess, but as we stood there for several moments, no one bothered to mention that fact. We finally figured out ourselves where to go even after they walked by us several times. After we stood at the hostess station for some time, with no one else there, they eventually approached us. Not a "Welcome" or even a "May I help you?". All we got was a "Yes?", as if we were intruding. My wife asked for a table and the hostess looked around and acted dumbfounded. I think this place prefers reservations, but at 5:15 on a Saturday there was literally no one else there in line and the place was half empty. Finally she picked a table, put our menus down and walked away before we could sit. My wife was so mad after that, we just left. The lady who seated us tossed a "Sorry" under her breath as we walked out, but again, no attempt at an explanation. I got the impression that this place has a bunch of regular customers, and that anyone new upsets their flow. If they do prefer reservations, all they should have done is explain. We wouldn't have been offended and would have gladly made one in the future. As it is, we'll never go back. read more

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. I was in this place today with my family . The waitress Rosie was fantastic and her service was exceptional. I ordered a burger and my parents ordered a pork chop meal and my dad ordered a walleye for $22. The waitress accidentally gave my dad the wrong plate .... The waitress came up to us extremely apologetic, which mistakes happen. We did not care about that at all! So the waitress had the owner Anna come over to the table - this is when it went sour . The waitress explained to Anna what had happened and the owner Anna immediately cut her off and screamed at her " your mistake you eat " and then walked off. During this moment the waitress was holding back tears and was in shock. Now mistakes happen but seeing this display of disrespect for the people that work for you is appalling. This waitress was extremely sweet and you could tell she was a hard worker. This owner doesn't deserve this waitress. Business owners need to understand how to treat people that work from them . I will never ever set foot in this place and I will ensure everyone knows about this experience . Was very excited about going out to eat at a polish restaurant on the lake. Very disappointed when we arrived and were greeted in a very matter-of-fact by the owner. After putting us down for 2...she took the name down of the next couple who had come several minutes behind us. My jaw dropped in disbelief as she proceeded to seat them on the deck outside. When I asked her why she did that...she rudely said that I wanted to sit inside. I told her that I wanted outside and she looked at me and again very rudely said "most people want to sit inside and there is no space left". We stood in awe of how rude she was being and as an owner no less. She obviously was not in need of our patronage as it was busy but if you are looking for a nice experience, this is NOT it. Move on. As you will read in other reviews my assessment is not a one time event. You have choices. Don't waste your money or time on a place with a owner who doesn't appreciate her customers. read more

The location is amazing as the style of the restaurant;very polish traditional, lot of wood, decoration and pictures. The view over the lake from the dining room and the outside patio is stunning. The atmosphere is very relaxing and enjoyable with very pleasant mild music on the background. I had the traditional polish platter, everything taste great. Reflections On Deep Lake has delicious food, spectacular views, and friendly staff in Lake Villa right on the water at Deep Lake. I had the catfish with fries and a side salad. The catfish was seasoned to my liking and came with beer battered french fries. The waitress provided superb service and frequently stopped by to refill our drinks and see how the food was. The restaurant is right on the lake with beautiful views. We kayaked to the restaurant and they have boat parking if you decide on boating there. read more

R U kidding me? WHAT is the magic here? We got tired driving back from the Great North and thought we would try this place. SHOULD HAVE KNOWN the minute we came in the door and ran into a big bar without a hostess that there was something wrong. THEY think it's too cold on the deck but WE want to eat out on the deck, it's 72°! We re-look at the menu and decide it's basically fried with boiled perogis and said SEEYA! Great little cozy place for great food, and especially Polish Cuisine! Saw some of the comments about the decor, and the decor is old - probably best to describe it as historic decor. But, if I wanted to go to a trendy Polish restaurant with up to date decorations, I would fly to either Warsaw or Krakow. I go out to eat for the food, and everything else is non essential fluff. I had the Pork Chops a la Ellen and give that 4 stars - wonderfully cooked. My wife had the Breaded Pork Loin off of the Polish section of the menu, and it was awesome. Next time, this is what I am having. The breading was nice and light, and the pork was just outstanding - 5 stars. Definitely a place worth going to for dinner! read more

The food is DELICIOUS. I have been here twice and the Polish cuisine is just wonderful. I've had the Mexican-style pierogi appetizer with guacamole and I can't say enough good things about it. I might have to get a double order next time. I was also here this afternoon for my mother's birthday and got the Polish platter. Everything tasted phenomenal. The stuffed cabbage and cheese/potato pierogis were the highlight, but the sauerkraut and sausage were also tasty. I also enjoyed the pickle soup. The only negatives I can think of was that I couldn't substitute the Mexican pierogis in my dish (but what I got was just as yummy), and the few bites I had of my husband's roasted duck were quite dry. If I had ordered that as my meal (which I almost did), this review would probably be much different. My daughter's high chair was also very dirty and sticky... obviously it had not been wiped down in a while. The decor is old, but I don't mind it. I like the rustic feel. My wife said: Reflections has a 3 out of 5 rating? That's harsh. Reflections doesn't need my defense, but you need to know that the views at sunset are spectacular at Reflections restaurant. If you can find a restaurant with views as idyllic as Reflections of a beautiful lake, please let me know. The food varies (Polish and American cuisine) but overall is just plain good. I enjoy the inexpensive Deep Lake burger and I substitute vegetables for french fries (dietetic). My sister who has seen most of North America and much of Central America loves the walleye on Fridays. And the dessert tray is beautiful. Is the crowd older? Maybe. You'll become older one day yourself. At the end of a day of fishing on Deep Lake I take a dip in the lake, clean up, and then go to Reflections. Jody at the bar asks if I want the usual, I say yes, and she sets up a tall glass of water with 3 aspirins (fishing can be strenuous). Come once for the views. Come twice for the views and the food. Become a friend, drop on by when you can. Reflections and the adjacent Jack and Lydia's resort are owned by the same Polish-American family. They are wonderful hosts.
