What a great place! The food is authentic and yummy. It's a family favorite for us. I do recommend a reservation because it tends to get busy. They have live music playing and the atmosphere is very friendly and family oriented. You can tell the at owners take great pride in the business. It's clean and well maintained. You really are made to feel at home. They have quite the following too as it's always packed! It can get a little loud with so many people but the sound of people enjoying good food and good company has never bothered me. Sit at the bar with the locals and wait, and wait, and wait for service even when it's not busy. The hostess, who may be the owner, could definitely benefit from charm school. It is not so much a restaurant as it is a neighborhood hangout for old men spewing profanities at every turn. As with the first time I ate there, the drunks at the bar were so loud we couldn't hear each other at our table. I don't need to hear F-bombs every 5 minutes and you definitely don't want to have any children at the restaurant with all of the profanity. Hey everyone! My friends & I were looking around for a fish fry tonight. Tried the Shanty but it was an hour & a half wait so we decided to try Reflections. That was the best decision! We've never been there before so to our delight, the place is decorated so cute! And wow the wait staff really zooms around there. They're so friendly & they're so efficient. My friend & I had the cod fry & our husbands both had the walleye. My friend also had the chicken dumpling soup & our husbands both had the clam chowder. They were both delicious. I had a taste for a salad & it had homemade 1000 Island dressing which was so good! While we ate there was a guy playing the piano & singing. He was really good. And wow that fish fry was so good! Crispy & very lightly battered & fried to perfection. My friend & I had the baked potato & the guys had fries (really good). Right before closing at 9 p.m. the chef came out of the kitchen & asked everyone how their food is & then he picked up his accordion & played the happy birthday song for a lady. I have been wanting to come here and I finally made it!! Upon arrival I noticed how the parking area is gravel and limited so not so great, anyhow upon entering the place seems super clean and there you have hostess and bar, place is very popular so we wanted to sit outside and that is by reservation only because of its popularity. Otherwise we were told it would be an hour wait. We sat inside after waiting for our turn at the bar, we ordered the Polish platter which was not bad accompanied by soups of the day. While you wait for those you get bread Yum. Our waitress seemed nice and attentive. Only thing is I feel like the patio should be first come first serve so everyone gets a fare chance at it. We took my Mom here on the evening of her 90th birthday. This is a cozy Polish restaurant on Deep Lake in Lake Villa. The food is amazing. The Polish dishes are authentically prepared and delicious. I had pan fried Walleye and loved every bite. The service was excellent as well. Even though we were stuffed and didn't do dessert the waitress and owner brought out a piece of Napoleon and sang to my Mom. I highly recommend Reflections. And my Mom was very happy!! read more

One thing that turns my stomach when dining out is unsanitary conditions! Our introduction to the restaurant was unimpressive--the restaurant is cluttered with so many knick-knacks, that you can see the dust hanging from them. There is also a bit of confusion when we entered as to where to go to be seated--the hostess station is in another room. We arrived before the rest of our party (our reservations were apparently lost and this created confusion for the hostess/owner). We were promptly seated though and the bus boy set down a bread basket. The owner mentioned that an additional two people were on their way, so the bus boy set down another bread basket. Apparently, this displeased the owner/hostess, who loudly reprimanded the young man (it was no big deal) and then proceed to come over to our table and WITH HER BARE HANDS take the bread out of the one basket and place it in the second basket! This was the owner!! If she doesn't know proper food handling, I can only imagine it isn't a priority in the kitchen! Later in the evening, I witnessed the owner grab a dessert item (looked like a croissant) off a tray and proceed to shovel it in her mouth while trying to scoop someone's ice cream! I can only imagine what happens in the kitchen! Needless to say, we were unimpressed and won't be going back. read more

The platter accompanied by their homemade bread and uniquely delicious Polish Pickle Soup, mmm mmmmm! Be sure to not leave without trying out one of their desserts. Reflections is like 3 rooms (one dinner room table specifically set for a large family or group to the left of the entrance) with a large wood bar. Reservations are recommended, especially for larger groups. This was our first time, we were sharing an 18th anniversary and the parents came along. The team exceeded all expectations. Anna the owner made us all feel welcome and gave us a tour, our server Claudia was informative to us rookies that were unfamiliar with some of the authentic Polish dishes. And the service from Claudia and team was superb. We were a table of four and those around me all chose Golanka. A pork hoch. I had assorted Polish flavors. Sausage, Golobki (stuffed cabbage) and Pierogi. Really great. I reluctantly shared a bite with Mrs. After 18 years, she's earned a half of a Pierogi - I guess. Everyone was very satisfied. While our food was served in a timely fashion, our server was pleasant but inattentive. She did not return to offer more drinks, for example, and we had to have a bus person fetch her so we could pay our bills. ( We were a party of four on a Wednesday and it was not busy.) Another visit last night to reflections for their Friday night fish specials. The restaurant has an old time feel to it. We sat at the bar for about an hour waiting for our party. The bartenders were nice and our drinks were good. I have been here a few times and have had the seafood platter, the broiled cod and the pan fried walleye. All are very good. Prepared well and good quality. My husband got the polish platter last night and loved it. Save room though, because the desserts are delicious. I get the Napoleon every time which is homemade custard in between flaky crust and the table got a piece of orange cake that they love and German chocolate cheesecake and a brownie cheesecake. All were scraped clean and were enjoyed. I suggest a visit to this place. The sunset over the lake is gorgeous. read more

I didn't have time to do the whole dinner scene but their hamburger was fantastic & Super crispy fries and their own twist on pickle polish coleslaw!! Most their meals start about $10 and go up to about $30 They have an awesome view of the lake a very rustic cabin/lodge restaurant with lots of little decks !! Nice mom and pop restaurant. Worst service ever by Melissa. The food was so cold and horrible. The owner apologized and said that was because they are busy. Do not go spend the money to be disappointed. I was so so disappointed. The outside tables are not 6 feet apart for social distancing. Scary when all the other restaurants in Lake Villa follow the 6 feet distance. Here you are right on top of each other. I want to give it 4 stars but a few issues. We did pickup service, drive up and they bring it out. First they initially handed us the wrong food. Then they brought us part of our order 15 min later. Forgot all the sides. The soda in the can, Diet Pepsi was flat. The packing of the soups and salads for a to go order was a mess. It didn't make it home, one soup was completely crushed and all over the bag. The food was really good though. I had the polish platter. My favorite was the stuffed cabbage. Attended a baby shower here and truly enjoyed it! The atmosphere is perfect because of the antique feel and the view is truly beautiful. Everything is wooden and it truly creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. There is also a stage here where a musician plays which is pretty cool. I sampled the pergoies, the mashed potatoes, and the sausage and everything was truly good!
