This place acts like its a privilege to eat barely ok crepes after waiting for too long. They dont do reservations, close at 2pm and when asked on the phone how the wait times are at the moment, you are told "we dont disclose that, bye now". This is purely big city tactics to maximize profit. they dont care the orders take forever, that the food is subpar. They onyl care to make as much as possible within the limited time they choose to be open. I promise you, you will feel attitude on your first visit. Food is basic. Renata's is definitely worth the wait! Our air bnb host suggested it to us on our way back home and it did not disappoint! They were super busy but still decently efficient. However, we sat down at the bar at 8:38 and didn't receive our order until 09:30. 40 mins for two crepes. The staff also handle all the food with no gloves or hair nets. I've had several, including some off of their specials board and all were superb. Though, one of the specials they have is the "Pear Decadence." If it's available, just order it and enjoy. Also! I've known and heard about the place for years, but never ended up eating there until about a week ago. I had heard that they have both sweet and savory crepes, but I had never been that familiar with crepes in general and so I was never compelled to visit. That being the case I was less-than elated when it was chosen as a dinner spot, but I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised to be satisfied with my meal. The place is fairly small and intimate. Unless I missed something, it appears to have seating for about 20. The decor is unique and appealing, and there are various items for sale in the waiting/reception area. Service was pretty good with one or two hangups. Our server was warm, welcoming and conversational. She did forget to bring a soda that I had ordered, but this was ordered after our main order and is a small gripe. My slightly bigger issue was that while this person was occupied with other parties, I came up to the kiosk to ask the recently-arrived second server if she might be able to grab the soda. I would have been fine if this was not possible, but what irked me a bit was that the second server went about her business at the kiosk, definitely saw me standing there expectantly (we were the only two people in that area), and just ignored me until things got a bit awkward and I just went back to my table and she returned to her tables. With that out of the way, the most important thing of course was the food, which was excellent. I got a savory crepe with Brie and Bacon (hold the apple) which was wonderful. My wife got a Normandy, also savory, with a side of greens which she also liked. I can't say that there are a great number of things that I would want to try on the menu, but what I had was definitely appealing and I respect the variety of their offerings. Crepes are pretty niche, and so I can't say that the place would be a regular stop of mine when in the mood for a conventional meal, but I think that due to the unique nature of the food and the venue, it's definitely a nice intimate spot to go with a small party. read more

I have been a steady customer of Renatas since she sold crepes at the farmers market out of a taco truck many years ago. However my last visit was extremely offputting. I was meeting 3 friends there and I showed up a few minutes early to get us a table. They took my name but told me I had to wait outside until the rest of my party arrived. I asked if I could just sit and was told "No we have to prep the table." Ok, I waited outside. When 2 of the 3 arrived, we went inside to sit. The hostess said she would only seat us if we already knew what the 4th person wanted to order. Otherwise we would have to continue to wait outside until the last person arrived. She was really not nice about it. She said its company policy. There was no line and there were plenty of empty tables. I'm not sure why we would not be allowed to sit as a 3 person party and wait for our 4th person. Once our 4th person arrived, we were seated and no more issues occurred, but we were all a little upset from the rude treatment and not being allowed to sit until out entire party was there. After we left, another friend of mine arrived and had a similar issue. She was told she could not get a to go order so she asked to be seated and they said no to that as well. It was not a busy time, it was surprisingly empty, so this odd treatment doesn't really make sense to any of us. There are much nicer ways to deal with whatever situation happened to enforce these new rules. I hope Renata realizes that her employees are rudely refusing service to her long time customers and that she makes a positive change to this situation. read more
