I've been here on two occasions and both times have i have had no complaints. I'm from Southern California, but anytime I come to visit my sister in Arcata, this is the spot to go to for breakfast. On this particular visit, we were a group of 11... service was fantastic, even though we were a larger party. The coconut latte tasted great and had a cute design on it. I ordered the Got Yer Goat crepe and a simply sweet basic one, both had great flavors. All the crepes our party ordered were pretty amazing and above all very filling. These crepes are fabulous! We had the banana berries and peaches daily special crepes. Both were amazing! We make crepes at home a lot, so I was anxious to see how theirs compared. Theirs are better than mine. Fruit was ripe and fresh. Favor combinations were surprising and amazing. Portions were great, but my husband had to tell me no when I wanted another because it was so good. Staff was friendly, smiley and helpful. Restaurant decor is playful and light hearted. Highlight of our trip to the redwoods was breakfast on getaway day. This is the Creperie every other place you've tried is hoping or pretending to be. We were lucky to sit at the bar and be able to see crepe creation which has entertainment value of its own. We ordered a Lemon "desert" crepe and the heartiest most delicious crepe I've ever had. My mom and I went into Renata's Creperie for the first time last week and it blew our minds. We went in on a Saturday morning and it wasn't as busy as I had expected. It was cold and rainy out, which was probably the reason there wasn't a line out the door like I had seen in the past. There was about a two-minute wait before we were seated by a friendly waiter. My mom ordered a mocha which we ended up splitting between the two of us because they bring it out in what looks like a small soup bowl. It was a very generous cup of mocha. Let me preface this next statement by saying that I'm not a big coffee person: I often find even the smallest traces of coffee to be too bitter. Not Renata's. It was by far the best mocha I have had (or will probably ever have) in my life. Nice and sweet with a coffee taste that wasn't overpowering at all. It was just right. Not to mention the mound of hand-made whipped cream that they pile on top that was absolutely delicious. When the waiter brought our crepes to the table my mom and I were in awe. I had ordered the "Righteous Babe" and my mom had ordered a special of the day, the "Blackberry Bramble". Oh my god. Delicious. Everything was amazing. I couldn't stand to waste one bite even though I was getting full about 3/4 through the crepe. The portion sizes are very generous and certainly worth every penny. I left this place asking myself why I haven't eaten here before even though I have lived in Humboldt County for almost 11 years. The Banana Berry crepe is amazing! The creme fraiche is heavenly and the cinnamon undercuts the other flavors so beautifully. I usually avoid "sweet" crepes in the States because of how overly sugary and nauseatingly sweet they can be. But I am glad that I let my craving coerce me to abandon that rule and try the Banana Berry crepe here. My friend really enjoyed the Amber Rose savory crepe as well. I know every cafe is being described as "cute" nowadays but this one really does immense justice to that label. This place is busy! Visited on a Sunday a couple weeks ago while in town for a family reunion. Met up with my friend and were seated fairly quickly, however there was some awkwardness when my friend arrived early and got on the waiting list, only to be told she couldn't be seated when her name came up because I hadn't arrived yet. So... be warned, don't keep your fellow diners waiting if you are going to this place- they won't be seated or served (although she could have gone to the bar area). Parking is street or in the lots behind G street. Restaurant is average sized, all tables but those tables have a variety of sizes, so small and large groups will both be well served. As I said, there's also a bar area. Saw people of all ages, including families with kids, and all seemed happy to be there. That stuff aside, my friend and I really enjoyed Renata's! I got the sweet sister flambeed, and my friend ordered one of the savory crepes (looked awesome). Also ordered a mocha and a hot chocolate. Mocha was really good, made with a local roast. Hot chocolate was awesome and is served in a BOWL, so be warned. The flambe on the sweet sister was cool- they bring it to your table, set it on fire with rum, and then move the crepe around to spread the fire. As far as food and drink go, Renata's has it down. I was served my hot chocolate in a bowl with fresh whipped cream on top. I ordered a crepe with egg, jack cheese, scallions and garlic with avocado added on. What I got was a huge crepe that definitely filled me up. Everyone I was with seemed to enjoy their food. The reason I only gave this place 3 stars is for the length of time it took for our food to come out to us. We waited for about an hour after ordering for our food to come out. It was breakfast and we were starving and cranky. It wouldn't have been as much of a problem as it was except that 4 tables that arrived after us received their food before us.
