RENDEZVOUS WEST - UCLA 10/10 -- Review: oh how i missed you rendezvous. what even is chipotle? UCLA and i are blessed to receive this magnificent creation of a dining restaurant. like how lucky can i be to swipe everyday and every meal at this place in college!!! the way they fill up my steak bowl with such passion and scoop tons of meat and veggies. i love every worker here and how much love they put into this food. i also get tortilla on the side and wrap a bigger burrito myself . thank you UCLA

Rende is one of my favorite places to eat on the hill at UCLA, especially if you want to get something quickly to-go. I absolutely LOVE the Mexican side and usually don't like the Asian side. Asian Side: I usually never get the combos from Rende East since none of the food there is really that appealing or authentic. There are times when I crave chow mein and get it, but I'm always disappointed and usually throw half of it away. But there are a daily specials that I do actually really like: chicken catsu curry, mapo tofu ramen, vegetarian ramen, sushi bowls. Rende also has boba - it's not very good but it definitely fulfills my boba cravings when I need it. I like the milk tea and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Mexican Side: UGH I LOVE THE FOOD HERE! My all time favorite, go-to meal there is the spinach and mushroom quesadilla, omg sooooo delicious. And it all comes with rice and beans!! Also a big fan of their chicken and fish bowls! OH and their nachos are also fantastic! Tip: you can replace the Mexican rice with brown rice and the refried beans with black beans Tip: most meals come with guacamole and sour cream so make sure to mention if you don't want one of them Tip: a lot of times you can replace the rice and beans for chips! Also I love eating here during the summer because it's basically all you can eat for just one swipe! WHAT A BARGAIN. (This is what's pictured and why everything is on a plate instead of to go boxes)

No shame in my game...I probably use most of my swipes here (and mostly on taco salads and nachos). It's pretty darn good for dorm food, they have specials every single day on both the Mexican side and the Asian side. It's weird but c'mon where else would you have the option of choosing between a beef quesadilla or some bulgogi ramen? Honestly I never stray far from the Mexican side but there's always a line out the door for the Asian side so I'm guessing it can't be bad. They also have chorizo and machaca breakfast burritos and bacon bagel sandwiches in the morning. The only downside to this place is that it's not open over the weekend. Hooray for living about 20 steps from here!

Since I don't live on campus anymore, I don't eat here anymore. But I stopped eating here at some point last year because I got so sick of the food. It's true: UCLA is one of the top rated universities for dorm food, but Rendezvous doesn't attribute much to that ranking. The only thing I could really eat from there was: Chinese side: orange chicken and white rice Mexican side: nachos or taco salad. Even that got disgusting/underwhelming after a while. A lot of their food is inedible because it's poorly cooked or too greasy. I remember feeling sick and getting sick after eating from here. Unfortunate. The only good thing about this place is a) you can take the food back to your dorm (can't do that with dining hall food) and b) the breakfast is pretty good (though the lines are ridic long and slow).

Rendezvous is relatively far from campus. I like that they have special dish every day. The tofu dish in picture is pretty bland. The portion size is very large. Not too many seats inside.

The Chinese dish in this canteen is great!I also love the milk tea. Start to miss everything in UCLA

Rendezvous is one of my favorite places to eat at in terms of to-go on-campus dining options here at UCLA. In fact, I am writing this review as I wait in line for it to open (opens at 12pm for lunch). It is one of the further dining restaurants in that it is located up a steep hill and two sets of small stairs--I like to tell myself that I am really working for my food!! ;) Anyway, here is my breakdown: -Great options for to-go breakfast because other to-go places serve bagels and pastries but one can pick up breakfast burritos and more (check menu daily)! -One of the four to-go options on campus for there is a wider selection of cuisines like "Latin," and "Asian" cuisines (as their stations are called). -"Rende," as it is called by Bruins, has vegetarian options and daily specials such as: --Monday: Chipotle Chicken Burrito, BBQ Chicken (or Vegan) Quesadilla, Pork Tankatsu, Vegetarian Bento box --Tuesday: 3 taco combination (beef, chicken, al pastor), Potato Enchiladas, Bulgolgi bowl, Korean Vegetable Box --Wednesday: BBQ (or vegetarian) Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken (or vegan) Teriyaki box, --Thursday: Beef pho, California (or vegetarian) Burrito, teriyaki chicken bento box --Friday: Chicken (or potato) Enchildas, Shrimp Sushi bowl, Vegetarian Sushi Bowl --**Also have daily noodle bowls (check menu) -All entrees come with one drink -Dessert is sold after 9 P.M.--churros with hot chocolate or hot vanilla, Green Tea waffle with ice cream, or dessert nachos. -They also have a wide array of beverages with boba such as Horchata, Milk Tea, Thai Tea, Green Tea, and Taro. -There is a "Happy Hour" special from 2pm-4pm in which one can get a FREE 16oz Boba with meal on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays. -There is a large seating area for students and staff to dine, unlike other to-go places. Everything at Rendezvous is average in taste, but it is still tasty! I mean, I definitely do not feel healthy when I eat here, but it is quick (because ain't nobody got time to eat in the dining halls sometimes) and it definitely has that street-food taste (and grease) that I crave from time-to-time. Tis' all!

If you look closely, there is a small strand of hair. Found it in my pho.

Save yourself the trouble, and do not get the beef special burrito. Could not even eat half of it without wanting to throw up.

Rende is one of the best take out spots on campus, especially the West side. The portions are fantastic and always leave you filled.

Colony has both inside and outside seating which looks so cozy. Since I was in a hurry, I had mine to go. When I got home, I was very surprised to see how big their portions are. That explains why I thought the bag was too heavy. I had the Grilled Chicken Steak with Black Pepper Sauce and a side of spaghetti. I ate half of everything and ate the other half the next day so you can actually split it with another person. Everything was so delicious including the lemon tea I had. I was pretty satisfied and I can't wait to try other items on the menu.

We had the baked pork chop so food took about 20 / 25 minutes or so to come out. Tasted just like childhood! Milk tea also tasted very familiar. I was happy about these two items. The grilled chicken with black pepper sauce was just so so in comparison. Gave it 3 stars because there were flies flying around the patio. Covered trash cans might reduce this problem a bit. Price is also on the higher side. $6 milk tea was not very worth it. And they charged you some sort of fee (see pic) that I wasn't aware of, did not expect extra fee when ordered at the location and not doordash.

The prices are very reasonable, especially by LA standards, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Sadly, I have a peanut allergy, so I wasn't able to try the satay, but according to my friends, it was really good! I got the Soto Betawi though, and it was super delicious and flavorful. It was crispy on the outside and the shrimp was slightly on the firm side and slightly savory. Nasi capcay included a lot of fresh vegetables. It had more liquidy sauce than expected . The veggies soaked up the liquids quickly and began to get a little soggy. However the veggies were savory. The dish could use more greens. NOTE: this dish comes with shrimp which was NOT disclosed in the menu. We specifically ordered veggie only. One party member wanted a veggie dish but could not eat it due to shrimp allergies. Let them know to cook without shrimp if you have shrimp allergies The Nasi bunkus was delicious. Traditional Indonesian food would typically have a lot more tumeric and spicyness but this dish felt more streamlined. You can ask for more turmeric and spicyness if you prefer. Also The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. The Riice was good, flavorful and not greasy. Perkedelle was tender but did not have as much crispyness as other perkedelle that ive had. The potato inside was not as light and fluffy as expected (compared to other perkedelle) and was instead on the slightly dense side. It was still good. The Bakwang jagung, or corn fritters, were both crispy and a bit dense and sticky. It was savory and was not greasy at all. We liked this dish. Es doger was good BUT had tough meat husks in the drink. The coconut flavor and bits were a nice addition to the drink. The casava and condensed milk had the right amount without being overpowering. If not for the husks in the drink, i would recommend it. Es cendol was heavy on the condensed milk and slightly overrpowered the pandan jelly and bits of jackfruit. It was ok. Overall this restaurant is an option for the area if you are looking Indonesian food.

Customer Service: (5/5) The waiter was very nice throughout. She was very endearing as she talked to my girlfriend in chinese and also kind to me when speaking in english. When asked about dishes and proportions, she was very knowledgeable and honest. Food: (4.5/5) We ordered the Mapo Tofu and Meizhou Special Fried Rice with chicken. The food came out within 10 minutes and the portions, as I saw on previous reviews, were generous enough for us to share and be full. The Mapo Tofu came out on a hot ceramic bowl. It wasn't as spicy as I thought, not overly spicy but just enough where you get that numbing kind of sensation in your mouth that leaves you wanting more. The beef wasn't like the ground beef you see in other mapo tofu, but more of chunkier pieces which I wasn't a big fan of as it didn't seem spread evenly. The Meizhou Special Fried Rice with chicken was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever had. You can tell it was made from a wok and the flavors were just incredible. The chicken seemed to have been friend separately and added on top afterwards but the saltiness of the chicken didn't take away from the fried rice at all. Instead, it added to the flavor and made it all so enjoyable. For the ultimate experience, I'd recommend eating both together to maximize your palette!

The space feels worn -- menus tattered, décor dated, the whole interior overdue for a refresh. For a restaurant positioning itself at the higher end of Chinese dining, Meizhou Dongpo is sleeping on the finer details. No complimentary tea service, and rather than offering a pot for the table, they serve individual tea by the mug -- a comically oversized Western mug at that. Chopsticks arrive without spoons, and when you ask for one, you get silverware instead of the porcelain you'd expect at Chinese restaurant. The Peking duck accoutrements came with a little plastic spoon on the tray. Small things, but they add up.The fried rice was a letdown too and looked nothing like the menu photo. Spots like Din Tai Fung and Lunasia Signature are operating at a different level and the gap shows. Meizhou Dongpo has the bones of a great Chinese restaurant. The duck alone proves it. But until they invest in the experience around the food, it's hard to recommend at this price point.
