Stopped by and students are lining up to pick up their lunches here. Despite the line, staff is quick to serve. We got our order within five minutes. Got the California Steak Burrito which comes with tortilla chips. The burrito is packed with slices of steak and crispy french fries with the pico de gallo and sour cream to balance the heaviness of the dish. Did not even realize how fast I devoured it. The avocado salsa adds creaminess and acidity to make it taste even better. Definitely hope to come back. read more

Rende is one of my favorite places to eat on the hill at UCLA, especially if you want to get something quickly to-go. I absolutely LOVE the Mexican side and usually don't like the Asian side. Asian Side: I usually never get the combos from Rende East since none of the food there is really that appealing or authentic. There are times when I crave chow mein and get it, but I'm always disappointed and usually throw half of it away. But there are a daily specials that I do actually really like: chicken catsu curry, mapo tofu ramen, vegetarian ramen, sushi bowls. Rende also has boba - it's not very good but it definitely fulfills my boba cravings when I need it. I like the milk tea and the Vietnamese iced coffee. Mexican Side: UGH I LOVE THE FOOD HERE! My all time favorite, go-to meal there is the spinach and mushroom quesadilla, omg sooooo delicious. And it all comes with rice and beans!! Also a big fan of their chicken and fish bowls! OH and their nachos are also fantastic! Tip: you can replace the Mexican rice with brown rice and the refried beans with black beans Tip: most meals come with guacamole and sour cream so make sure to mention if you don't want one of them Tip: a lot of times you can replace the rice and beans for chips! This place is a great late night option. I personally do not think this place is good at all. It feels like it is isolated from the grandeur that is the UCLA dining halls/quick service restaurants. I would occasionally get the 2 boba drinks for 1 swipe if I need to burn some swipes, or get the Asian combo if I want some mediocre Panda Express without visiting Ackerman. The best food here is the California burrito and the pho, but they are still mediocre at best in relation to the other dining options on the Hill. read more

No shame in my game...I probably use most of my swipes here (and mostly on taco salads and nachos). It's pretty darn good for dorm food, they have specials every single day on both the Mexican side and the Asian side. It's weird but c'mon where else would you have the option of choosing between a beef quesadilla or some bulgogi ramen? Honestly I never stray far from the Mexican side but there's always a line out the door for the Asian side so I'm guessing it can't be bad. They also have chorizo and machaca breakfast burritos and bacon bagel sandwiches in the morning. The only downside to this place is that it's not open over the weekend. Rande is what happens if you take a panda express and a chipotle and put them together under one roof. However the food at rande is not even half as good as panda, and not even a quarter as good as chipotle. They have a rotating asian and mexican item every day that repeats weekly. Aside from that the menu stays constant with either mixed plate asian or buritos. I think that Rande is probably the worst quality non dining hall meal option for people who live on the hill. The make up for the quality by giving you quite a bit of food. It's still okay, but there are better options. Having it in summit this year tho is nice because of the ample seating for doing whatever. read more

This is what UCLA dining is about. We even have a take-out place that caters to Asian & Mexican cuisine. You have your classics like burritos/nachos/quesadilla on the Mexican side and the combo on the asian side, which is kind of like Panda Express style. On top of those, every day of the week has its own Asian & Mexican special. They switch these up every quarter too to really bring a lot of variety and experiences to Rende. At what other school can you go downstairs at 11pm and grab some late night tacos? And now they even incorporated boba!?? That insane 32oz drink of the late night studying gods. Since I don't live on campus anymore, I don't eat here anymore. But I stopped eating here at some point last year because I got so sick of the food. It's true: UCLA is one of the top rated universities for dorm food, but Rendezvous doesn't attribute much to that ranking. The only thing I could really eat from there was: Chinese side: orange chicken and white rice Mexican side: nachos or taco salad. Even that got disgusting/underwhelming after a while. A lot of their food is inedible because it's poorly cooked or too greasy. I remember feeling sick and getting sick after eating from here. Unfortunate. The only good thing about this place is a) you can take the food back to your dorm (can't do that with dining hall food) and b) the breakfast is pretty good (though the lines are ridic long and slow). read more

This place is great if you're hungover and want average Mexican food (which I frequently do) but it's not the best quality. Portions are absolutely massive though. I usually get the taco salad and it's huge. I like the tortilla chips but I know some people don't. Haven't tried the boba but I hear it's pretty good. Rendezvous - Mexican Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Apologies to the people working here, whom are very nice, but even your herculean efforts to put out smiles, fortune cookies, and unlabeled bottles of brown stuff cannot save the shittiness of the other materials you have to work with. If it is between 10:45 and 10:55 A.M., come here for breakfast. Those who have completed Sisyphean tasks in Rieber Court and will starve to death walking a tenth-mile farther may have an exception as well and eat here (on the Mexican side only). Otherwise, there's a lovely set of stairs right outside Rendezvous' entrance, like even it knows that what you should do during all 12+ other hours UCLA quick-service places are open is GO DOWN THE STAIRS. Mexican side: no comment. "Asian" side... If you actually like Asian food, this place will quickly convince you otherwise. For the first time in my life I will recommend Panda Express: the one in Ackerman is preferable to Rendezvous combos, even if you have to slave at minimum wage to pay for it. 1919 is better Asian food than this because 1919 food is actually food. Rendezvous serves an unholy concoction of starch, oil, and so-called "beef" with texture like a pig chewed it for a while, decided it wasn't worth eating, and spat it out covered in fat and starch. The vegetables taste old enough to be pickled, but swim around in their stew of tan sauce without any preservative for flavor or crunchiness. Here even the chicken salad, which at Bcafe is an unassuming Americanized fusion-wibbly thing that can be eaten with one hand, has far more than its share of starchy something and more mushy wontons than lettuce. If you don't like Asian food, please don't come here. The stain Rendezvous makes on the cuisine's reputation could color my heart black. Rendezvous doesn't even sell pastries, bottled sodas, or any other portable 3 AM snacks to salvage itself. Edible items: pho (although flavorless), bibimbap (make sure you lug over a microwave from the nonexistent CityTarget, because it will go cold before you manage to squeeze out the door), ramens (if you don't die of hunger before reaching the front of both lines). Did I mention that Rendezvous will often randomly run out of these specials or inexplicably replace them with the poisoning-worthy yakisoba? The bathroom in the back is a must-visit. The first time I naively finished a box here, it made a nice place to vomit. read more

In fact, I am writing this review as I wait in line for it to open (opens at 12pm for lunch). Convenient, but the speediness of the food has resulted in me questioning whether to come here at all. Rendezvous, one of three quick service options on the hill at UCLA, is known for its fattening but filling food. There is an option of Rendezvous East and West, which used to be known as Asian and Mexican side respectively to older students. Rendez has returned to its original location under Rieber Terrace after a renovation. A renovation that was supposed to make Rendez better, but did not quite work out that way. At this point of time, I primarily reserve going to Rendez for quick service breakfast but try to avoid at all costs for any other meal periods. The lines are longer than they have ever been before and not enough people are working to alleviate the crowds. For this reason, I would recommend trying to go at non peak periods (7am-9am; 1-2pm; 10-11pm). But lines can be predictable and even these normally uncrowded times can turn into disaster pending on the neighboring residents' eating habits. The food itself is extremely filling and will give you a day's worth of calories. Unfortunately, at the cost of your stomach being upset. The Mexican food is not authentic and the Asian food is equally meh. There are certain specials throughout the week that folks adore (Thursday Cali Burrito and Friday Sushi Bowl) whereas others are questionable. read more

Rendezvous. Located in the bottom floor of a dorm building, most people know Rendezvous, or "Rendez", as a place to grab food when you don't have time to make it to a dining hall, late at night, or when you need chasers. Rendez is split into two sides: Mexican and Chinese/Asian, and is open for breakfast also. Breakfast: Rendez breakfast is open until 11 AM, which is a definite plus, as the dining halls close for breakfast at 9 AM. They don't have much variety though: Bagels with cream cheese, bagel-egg sandwiches (bacon or no bacon), and breakfast burritos with eggs veggies and the option of chorizo sausage. Of all the places on campus to get coffee, the coffee offered as an option for a drink at Rendez is always insepid. While the breakfast here is better than that @ Bruin Café, it's not that great. Mexican Side: At first, I used to enjoy the Mexican side. It's not real Mexican food, let's get that out of the way. Instead, it's like a halfway point between Taco Bell and real Mexican food. They have tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and bowls with your choice of veggies, chicken or beef. The beef sucks. I always go with the chicken. I used to get the burritos here often, as they were the only things not laden with grease, but I've gotten so sick of them that I don't go anywhere near them now. Some quarters, they have a BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, which is good if you can get past the fact that you just put some 1100 calories in your mouth, 500 probably from grease. Chinese/Asian: The Chinese side has "combos" and entrees. The entrees are Pad Thai, Somen Salad, and BiBiBap, all of which are generally a better choice than the combo. The Combo gives you a side (white rice, brown rice, fried rice or chow mein) and your choice of two of the following: orange chicken, kung pao chicken, beef w/ broccoli, or eggplant tofu. The orange chicken is decent, nowhere near as good as Panda though. The Kung Pao i find to be generally ok, although it's pretty spicy. Also, the sauce tends to leak through your container and make a mess. The Beef is not a bad choice, although a bit bland, and the eggplant is also very good. Overall, rendez is decent every once in a while, but if you eat your meals here often enough you will get sick and tired of it very fast. read more

Rendezvous was one of the preferred dining locations i usually get my food from, as it is convenient and is on the way to my dorm building. However, I would say both the quality and quantity are of low maintenance here. I didn't mind it so much as it is better than most college campus food, but today I found a hair in my pho. It was really thin (luckily I have good vision) and I was really disappointed because pho is my favorite, or was, my favorite entree at rende. Never experienced this kind of disappointment at a Ucla residential restaurant before, and hope I never have to again. I would say the Asian combo is average, but may make you feel a little sick a bit after eating it. If you're looking for a healthier option at rende I would opt for a make your own salad on the Mexican side and not add sour cream. It's low in carbs, high in protein, but may be high in sodium as well. read more

Man I love this place, one of my favorite take-out dining halls at UCLA (let's be honest though, almost all the dining halls at UCLA are pretty impressive compared to other campuses). This one specifically though has a good variety of options for diners upon each visit, with the two categories being Mexican or Asian food, plus you have the option to eat here or take your food to-go (convenient for typical college students looking for a quick bite to eat because they always have somewhere to be). Rendezvous also opens until 12 am so it is perfect for those late night munchies (if you know what I mean). The Asian food choices typically comes in a combo, consisting of an entree and two sides (similar to Panda Express or Hong Kong Express). The Mexican food options are the usual choices: burritos, tacos, and nachos (TRY THE CHICKEN NACHOS!!). In addition to the usual choices, each day both divisions of this dining hall caters special courses students can try: my favorite being the Barbeque Chicken Quesadilla (this stuff is to die for). Hah I love how people have created profiles for restaurants at UCLA. This place used to be my go to place for my late night meals. If it was too late for dinner or you weren't able to eat with anyone at the dining hall, you could grab this to go and bring it back to your dorm and play dota/watch netflix/do ya thang and eat really bad food for you haha. Still the same, still love it! Well, the Mexican side at least.. I think I tried the Asian side less than 5 times in my 2 years in the dorms. Anyway, I tried the beef taco salad. It's a lot of food. I was so stuffed. However, they don't give you too much beef :[ Oh well, but they do give you a lot of lettuce, gauc, sour cream, etc. No beans though! I also tried a bit of the beef quesadilla. Honestly I only come here, because as UCLA staff I only pay 3.50 for meals. The food is pretty basic for Mexican and Asian food. Why only 2 styles of food? I dont know...Kind of wish there was more options. Also the Asian side is really Chinese with only special days when they had Pad Thai (good actually) and bim bim bap (ok). Other than that its like a Panda Express. The Mexican Side i enjoy more, since I love getting the chicken burrito bowl and there is a salsa bar where I can just pile on the salsa, cilantro and onions. - yum. They also have these random choice of the day entrees for the chinese section which are sometimes pretty good so make sure to try those! But also, the Mexican side is pretty delicious. Rendezvous is the least delicious food, excluding gefilte fish, that you will ever crave. I'm not really sure why there's even a Yelp page for this place. There's no reason you would EVER go here if you're not a UCLA student who lives in the dorms. If you have meal swipes to use and don't care to visit the dining halls, Rendezvous is the place to be. I was never a huge fan of the Asian side, so I can really only tell you how the Mexican side is. It's essentially Chipotle, if Chipotle wasn't good. When you live in the dorms and you're hungry, food is food. I can't really knock it too much. Now that I live of campus and don't have a meal plan, it's always a treat when someone swipes me in. This place is a convenient place for takeout. The food is filling but not the best quality. They have sushi bowls on Fridays which are pretty good and korean short ribs on Wednesday. I highly recommend the green tea waffles or dessert nachos for late night. They are bomb. read more

Not going to lie, I've eaten Rendezvous more times that I should this year, just because it's so convenient if you live in Rieber Court. I actually like the food they serve, but the 3 stars is really just because of how unhealthy it is for you. As you probably can figure out, the restaurant is split into two sides: Chinese and Mexican. Mexican Side: I'm also going to include a segment on the breakfast. I've only had the burritos that they have for lunch and dinner and it isn't too bad. A bit dry in my opinion but it's not that big of a deal. The burrito combos include a drink, chips, guac, sour cream, and chips so it isn't all that bad of a deal. You'll get full for sure. The breakfast portions are alright. I only get the burritos and bagel sandwiches (with or without bacon) with OJ and a fruit, which isn't two bad. Just know that there are two different types of burritos that they serve for breakfast: 1 type for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and another for Tuesday and Thursday. Chinese Side: Panda Express. Seriously, it's like Panda Express, just with less options. Overall, the flavor is not too bad, but you can get sick of it pretty quickly. You have a variety of options to choose from, from Orange Chicken to Kung Pao Chicken, to Beef Broccoli. Oh, same as the Mexican side, they also change some of their sides based on the days. The only one that I can remember is Bok Choi on Tuesdays and Thursday. The Chinese side also has specials. For example, one day they have Pad Thai (actually haven't tried this, but I hear it's good), another they have Mabo Tofu Ramen, and another Curry Rice. Just learn which days have what and you'll be set. That's all I really have to say about this place. Just know that it doesn't stay open during the weekends and from what I recently found out, if there is a three day weekend coming up, Rendezvous won't be open for dinner on Friday FYI. As for lines, my advice to you is to go anytime after 6:45 P.M. for dinner if you don't like waiting in lines. It's pretty bad in the evening time. read more

My card - my only chance of smelling, tasting, and just being with you. Thanks for being so convenient, so open all the time. It was certainly nice seeing you when I wake up, seeing you when I come back from class, and seeing you for late night. We had some GOOD. TIMES. I don't think people give you enough credit sometimes. I think when they compare you to other mixed Asian/Mexican restaurants off campus, you don't match up - but only because nobody dorming ever understands you like I do. Everyone takes you for granted. I did too, until I realized I couldn't have you anymore. You're open SO EARLY for breakfast, and all your morning meals come with crispy tater tots. How can anyone resist coming here? Sure you don't give out as much as the dining halls do, but dining halls don't bag up meals to-go like you do either! Your lunch and dinner menu rock my SOCKS! Your perfected cheese quesadillas, ginormous chicken taco salad bowl, beef nachos, and chips with guacamole make my mouth water 24/7 - which is why I keep coming back. And not to leave out your Asian side - oh my, where do I even start? You've got so much spice to you. Kung pao chicken is my absolute FAVORITE *sizzle sizzle.* I've never tasted anything like it outside. Anything! And your portions are beyond-belief humongous! Spicy eggplant? A must. Your bi bim bap was amazing - and healthy. What was that sauce you used? It was delicious! Oh, and I can't leave out my experience with the hot yakisoba noodles. Nobody makes it the way you do. For what it is, Rendezvous is a pretty good restaurant. I live in the near by dormitory hall so I frequent this place often. This place is essentially two restaurants in one. On one side of the restaurant, there is the Asian side which serves typical Chinese item combination foods like Panda express. There is also Japanese curry, and Somen Noodle Salad which is a salad made of soft Asian angel hair pasta-like pasta with a tangy sesame dressing and fish cakes. On the other side, there is the mexican side of rendezvous where you can order Beef/Chicken Quesadillas, tacos burritios, nachos, taco bowls,etc. It comes with your choice of spanish rice, chips, or beans. I personally like the Asian side a lot better. The wait time is almost always less than the Mexican side since the food there is already cooked and waiting to be served to you like Panda Express style, while on the Mexican side, they need to take your order first and then make it. The Chinese food on the Asian side has gotten A LOT better since the year before. The eggplant is markedly improved over last year's, however one should still take caution when ordering the eggplant. Look for the eggplant being soft and flowing. Not stiff. that usually comes after the eggplant has been left on the warmer for a while and has had ample time to simmer. The orange chicken, broccoli beef (i don't like broccoli at all but this one is okay!), and kung pao chicken are all fantastic with quality rivaling that of Panda Express's (if not better!) Rendezvous Asian side is usually my top choice when I come back from a late afternoon class. With that said, the Mexican side is respectable in its own right. I might have a bias toward the Asian side because I personally prefer its more intense flavor and greasiness and I dislike beans, but the Mexican side is not bad at all. I've tried all the entrees from both sides and I would recommend the beef/chicken quesadilla from the Mexican side and the Chinese food from the Asian side. The unique Passion Ice Tea that you can only get at rendezvous is also very good as well. I would place Rendezvous as the best out of the other 3 quick service restaurants in UCLA. read more

There are few times in life when all one craves is a burrito with French fries inside. Rende gives that once a week. It's pretty standard "latin" food. I generally get the bean and cheese burrito but with black beans (way better than the pinto beans). Also, the avocado salsa at the salsa bar is one of the best things since kale guacamole. read more

Dishes at odd hours. Really good. Mexican food is pretty satisfying, and so are the Asian-American dishes. Obvious caveat is that this is fast-food style, take-out stuff. But good take-out food at that. Nice portions. Not really just for Rendezvous, but am I the only one who fancies the hill's local ginger ale? read more
