10/10, nope 20/10! WOW! I'm so absolutely thrilled by our family dinner at Rice Paper tonight I haven't stopped talking about it with family and friends! The food, flavor, service, cleanliness, and vibes were absolutely perfect!! Came on a Thursday evening, ordered plain pho and french fries for our 5&3YO both ate it up! While we looked at the menu, I couldn't decide what alcohol I wanted, spirit, beer, sake, wine, etc.. finally order sake bomb with Asahi and the bartender came over and let me sample one of the sours - just cause! I'm awesome! Thank you! Wish I had room to order! For dinner we did: - Filet Spring Roll - Chuck Norris Spring Roll - grandma Trans firecracker wings - Crispy Rice on sizzling plate with Filet My words cannot describe how amazingly delicious it all was. The spring rolls were equally filling, flavorful, refreshing, and savory! Flavor explosion! The firecracker wings drenched in the spicy sauce was so good, we kept dipping some of our kids fries in the sauce! Lastly the Crispy Rice dish with filet, WOW! A bite of that, with some broth on the side. I couldn't easily swear it's one of the most savory dishes I've had in AZ. What a hidden gem! On top of this, as a parent, it's always stressful eating outside of your own home with your kiddos, but the staff/owners were so accommodating, I felt comfortable and grateful! They were so nice and my 3Yo is wild, but they didn't make us feel bad and they continued to smile and even give him a high five as we left. The location is clean and vibey, and we were all comfortable the whole time. So glad this fam came FOB in 1981 and hope they continue to rock it because they deserve it! I haven't written a review in a very long time, but after dining at this place I had to make sure I came on to give them their kudos. The place is very clean inside, nicely decorated, and had background music playing (I hate places that are dead silent). A nice spot for me and my girlfriend to enjoy our lunch and talk over a bowl of pho. I was intrigued by the veggie pho because they used baby corn, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and asparagus. I don't really like vegetable broth so I asked if the broth could be their beef broth which they said was ok. My girlfriend had the chicken pho like she usually does and we shared a spring roll. I have to say that I was blown away with how delicious my pho was. It had such a nice clean beef flavor that you love when enjoying pho. The vegetables worked incredibly, but I' sure any of their beef options are stellar (I just wanted veggies). No doubt one of the more memorable broths that's I've had in a long time! My girlfriend's pho was also super flavorful and had a nice aroma as well. She ended up eating all the broth and had a bunch of leftover noodles and chicken. I would really recommend not serving the chicken diced in cubes because you can't get those nice chopsticks full of noodles and chicken. The roll we ordered was good, but probably not something I'd get again. They use filet mignon for it, but I think I would prefer to have them use a less expensive cut and give me 2X the meat. Finally our server Enrique was cool and very attentive and let us know about their Sunday pho special which was great. This place might not be as traditional as the other places where you see the entire family working and have the beat up menus, but it's they definitely make pho worth checking out for yourself. read more

Being pescatarian, often the only way I can have pho is with a vegetarian or vegan broth. Vegan pho can be hit or miss, but I really enjoyed this one! I think this version tasted the closest to the usual beef pho I remember having before being pescatarian. While I didn't love the baby corn topping, I did enjoy the asparagus and overall I would come back for the vegan broth! Price and portions in the pho also were fair. I got the small size and it was more than enough. The service was also very efficient and helpful. I asked for chili oil and someone (I think the owner) also gave me their special chili crunch they make! Unless you're a big fan of spring rolls, I'd say the only thing I'd skip next time is the spring roll. While it was fresh and tasted good, it wasn't anything different than what I've had in the past for cheaper prices. Overall though I really enjoyed my time there and I would definitely come back for the pho! read more

My absolute favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona! Not only is the food phenomenal, their craft beer menu is second to none. The staff are very engaging and will make your experience world-class with their exceptional service. The ambiance is very cozy with an elegant decor. Great for a date night or meeting with friends. For their food, my favorite Spring Rolls are the Filet Mignon, Spider, Spicy Asian, Sunshine, and Bruce Lee. I love starting with their Vietnamese Wings and Spicy Bun Bo Edamame. For lunch or dinner, their Bahn Mi Sandwiches and Vietnamese Pho is super authentic and flavorful. Their craft beer menu rotate monthly and feature breweries of Monkish, Electric, Green Cheek, CLAG, Fiden's, & Russian River (yes, Pliney the Elder is sold here!). I recommend the pho and soft spring rolls with peanut sauce. Very tasty! Best pho in Phoenix because it's fresh and mild in flavor. Beef was delicious and lots of noodles in the soup. However, the garlic noodles were dry and mediocre. The lemongrass chicken was also mediocre because it was only 4 small slices of chicken and it's marketed as a chicken dish and it has the same dry garlic noodles (yaki soba) so that is not a dish I recommend. Service is ok, the waiters are nice but the tables need more attention. The table setting was given to us in a disheveled way, the glass maybe used and sticky food spots that needed cleaning. Not a huge deal but inconvenient to ask for clean glass, cleaning rag, etc. I would go back again but during happy hour when pho is half off. read more

When my daughter asked me for a spontaneous movie date this past Saturday evening, I was thrilled... I just had to find a movie time that would work for us and figure out dinner as well. I found us a movie at the Shea theater and ordered dinner (a few spring rolls) via doordash from this Rice Paper location. I ordered about an hour before I needed it, but since spring rolls are served cold, I figured we'd be fine with that. When I showed up to pick up our order with plenty of time to make the movie, the restaurant did not have it ready... They did apologize but were not super sincere about it. They got to work making everything but it still took another 25 minutes, which forced us to be late for the movie. Since we were rushed, I didn't double check our order... My order was for a spider roll, a shrimp spring roll, and a saigon spring roll. Two out of the three rolls were great. However I am pretty sure that the spider roll (which is supposed to be filled with "crispy tempura soft-shell crab, mango, avocado, green leaf lettuce, & vermicelli noddles), was replaced with the "Miss Piggy" Spring Roll and had grilled pork in it, which is something I don't eat. Needless to say, this left a bad taste in my mouth (literally). I would return to dine in but be careful about ordering take-out here in the future. I hope to return and update my review in the future as I always want to support great local businesses, but this first visit was a bit of a miss. read more

Another looooong wait and then told they lost our ticket. When meal finally arrived, one order of crispy rice had tofu instead of shrimp and had to be taken back. I had heard of this restaurant for a long time but had never come by since I'd heard mixed reviews that maybe the food was a bit more fusion-y, less authentic, etc. But one day I was really craving pho and there's not really many (or any) pho places in Scottsdale so I took a look at the menu and some of the pictures on yelp and thought it looked pretty good and decided to give it a try. I ordered takeout from here right when they opened for like a Tuesday lunch. I got the pork crispy spring rolls and the pho tai. The spring rolls were delicious, super crispy with a flavorful sauce on the side. The pho was also pretty good. Since I got takeout, they were nice enough to separate the broth from the noodles and other toppings to ensure nothing got soggy. The only thing was they separated the raw meat as well so the broth was not hot enough to cook it by the time I opened it -- probably a good idea to drop in the beef slices in the broth and throw it in the microwave for a little bit to ensure it's cooked fully before eating. Otherwise I thought everything was pretty decent. The broth was decently flavorful and noodles were chewy - no complaints! I'd definitely love to try this place in person sometime! read more

I stopped in for a bhan mi sandwich in the early afternoon and it was fine. It wasn't busy and I got served fairly quickly. There were only two other diners. The sandwich was fine but the pork meat seemed grisly and I had a hard time chewing it. This I one of those restaurants where you have to ask for salt; they don't put it on the table. Since it is a normal condiment that people use all the time, I think it's a problem that customers have to take time away from their food to get the attention of a server and wait for him/her to get something that should have been there to begin with. This place was so great and I'm so sad I forgot to take pictures. We really enjoyed our meals here! Our group started with cocktails. All were amazing! The bartender was really great and friendly. I had Ginger Ginger (so good), others had Asian Persuasion, a margarita, and the "surprise" drink with gin. We all got a second! We led with some rolls - 3s company with seafood and filet. This was by far the worst pho experience I've had. The broth tasted like plain hot water, almost as if they used the water the noodles were boiled in. It had no richness, no seasoning, and none of the deep flavor that authentic pho broth should have after hours of cooking. The entire bowl was extremely disappointing and tasted rushed and low quality. When you order pho, the broth is the most important part, and this one completely missed the mark. They e done away with 1/2 price Pho Sat/Sun afternoon. Now they have 1/2 price on a few roll. They used go have small and large Pho, now only small but price is in between what small and large used to be. I came in today about 12:45. It was fairly busy and o lot one employee waiting on customers. She told me 11 times in 20 mins that she would be with me shortly and finally gave me water. After telling me 2 more time she would get my order (10 mins) she took my order. I've been coming here a long time and order extra sauce. She said I had to pay extra. I told her I never had before and she said it's the new system. Then she loaded the dishwasher, didn't wash her hands, and resumed serving food. Clearly, they were understaffed.
