Had some friends in town so wanted a nice place and this seemed to fit the bill. Overall not bad but just not outstanding like many reviews claim. Fried Chicken was amazing, but the Seabass was not very good and the appetizers we had were just average. My wife's filet was not seasoned well but was cooked perfectly. For the price there are just so many better options in my opinion, the fried chicken is the only reason it gets 4 stars. read more

My two sisters and I had an amazing dinner last evening at Rick's! Two of us had shrimp and grits and my other sister had the sea bass dish. The shrimp and grits came with fresh warm bread and a light sauce for dipping around the grits. The flavors were amazing and the grits were light and yummy. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, so flavorful and accompanied by carrots and yummy garlic mashed potatoes. We also enjoyed a glass of Landon local wine and margaritas Additional, the manager, Jacob, stopped by to insure everything was cooked to perfection and was so very nice. A New Favorite! As first-timers at Rick's Chophouse, we were blown away by the experience and can't wait to return! Our waiter, Tommy, was fantastic and gave us some excellent lunch recommendations. We decided to share two dishes: the Reuben Sandwich and the Country Chicken Fried Steak. The Reuben was a standout with succulent meat and flavorful sauerkraut. The Country Chicken Fried Steak was equally impressive, with a generous portion size, perfectly cooked mashed potatoes, and green beans that were seasoned to perfection and had a delightful snap. I had lunch with a friend and we had an appetizer along with a cocktail followed by lunch steak and lobster. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was on point describing all of our dishes. He was very polite and attentive. I've been to Rick's Chophouse before and the restaurant decor and tables are a little in the dark and could use a little more lighting. It was hard to read the menu. My wife and I had lunch while visiting McKinney during the Texas Music Revolution Festival. Everything was top-notch. When ordering I had mentioned to waiter my wife & I were going to share the watermelon salad. Without asking they split and served on two plates. I didn't even ask for that and I know that creates more work but it was so appreciated! My wife enjoyed a tender perfectly cooked steak & eggs. I had a bite and it was great. I had a great club on tasty bread with house made chips. All staff encountered were super friendly. Prices were reasonable and if we lived closer to McKinney we'd be regulars for sure! read more

Big fan of Rick's in downtown McKinney. The food is always spot on and the service is attentive and friendly. I like how they have a lounge area that looks like a speakeasy to have some food, they have a formal dining room as well as a large patio area for when the weather is nice. My trip this time had me eating one of my favorite dishes they have, fried chicken, and my girlfriend had the roasted cauliflower on risotto. They were just so delicious. read more

Ok, it took me over twenty years to get here, but I finally tried Rick's Chophouse for an anniversary dinner. If you have a reservation, don't plan on seating even a few minutes early.... They WILL make you wait until your appointed time. The place looks very classy inside. Our food was good, although I've gotten good steaks at Saltgrass too, and for half the price. For the price, the drinks were rather small. Servers were friendly and helpful. A nice dinner overall, but I am not sure I'd do it again. read more

Absolutely horrible meal this evening. Ordered a grass fed filet medium rare and it was prepared very under cooked. To their credit , they provided a replacement that was unfortunately cooked medium. We sent an appetizer back and manager that night came by to apologize and chat he took it off bill. Wife ordered pear martini she thought was great. The escargot was rich and great with warm bread it was burn the roof of your mouth hot. I thought the lobster bisque tasted like Campbells tomato soup lobster was dry stringy inedible. Crab claw app was dry inedible not fresh. We got a Caesar and added shrimp only came with 3 small little shrimp. Had a filet medium that was melt in your mouth but no marks or crust on it made it just ok. A good large piece of cheesecake with blackberries. Total bill before tip was $150. We have been going to Rick's for years but I believe today was the last time. Had lunch and was charged $11 for a cup (7 spoons) of lobster bisque. The wife had a bowl and was charged $13. The bowl and cup sizes have been switched out for smaller sizes. The soups, salad and burger with a tea and one beer was $83 with tip. They have become over priced with smaller portions and a stagnant menu. I hope they can make some changes. read more

We sat in the lounge. The ambiance was comfortable and the service was great. The crab dip was fantastic, there is a ton of seasoning on the tortilla chips though. The chicken salad and prime rib dip sandwiches were good. They could have been great with a little more seasoning and actual horseradish flavor in the cream for the prime rib. The onion rings were legit great!! The chicken friend chicken was the star. Perfectly creamy potatoes with just a tang of buttermilk. Delicious moist chicken and crust that makes it authentic! Making the reservation was quite easy via their website and we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Chris did an outstanding job taking care of our anniversary celebration and made the experience even more enjoyable. We started with two different salads, watermelon and spinach. Great taste! We had the sea bass and pork chop tomahawk. Both outstanding. We closed out the meal with the apple pie. I highly recommend and hope you give them a try. This place is a vibe, is a vibe, is such a VIBE! The fact that I'm repeating myself says something. I felt transported to a jazzy speakeasy feel. I admit, I was mad that the steak connoisseur within me hadn't found it sooner! The face of the restaurant doesn't do it justice and maybe that's part of the it mysterious allure. The food is sizable in portion. What makes this steakhouse different? Some of the meat cuts have been aged to perfection and portions are hearty. The house was fully booked so I opted for the bar area. It was spacious enough to enjoy my dining experience fully. I could also see a diner going to this room to start their night before formal seating. Once you order, servers take care of presenting the food and there is a runner who boxes items. I really valued that efficiency and the specialization of how service is carried out. It allowed for free flowing conversation with my dining companion and a sense we were taken care of properly. A prospective vendor took us to Rick's in McKinney. This is an old school steakhouse, with lots of dark paneling and classic furniture. We were seated in a private room and attended by a server in a chef's jacket. Was he a / the chef? I didn't find out. We began with cocktails; I had a Hendricks & tonic (alas no slice of cucumber) while our host opted for a Monkey 47 gin & tonic. I ordered a bottle of Belle Glos Las Alturas pinot noir. The first food order was the seafood tower, which they split onto two ice-filled serving platters and an order of escargot. The star of the show was the generous serving of king crab ... I probably consumed the majority of the crab. Other items included shrimp, oysters and slices of seared sashimi. My entrée was a pair of Elk Filets; it was served with mushrooms and green beans. The coloration of the elk was almost black but it was perfectly prepared and was tender, juicy and flavorful. Another ordered the 45-day dry aged NY Strip; I had a piece ... nutty and rich in flavor; IMHO 45 days is the minimum needed to understand why some love dry aged meat. Others ordered the Sea Bass; it looked great and everyone was complimenting the food. The food prices are very reasonable and the wine prices are not out of line. Highly recommended! read more

Talk about a Bomb Steak Dinner. This was a very warm welcome to Texas. We had a wondeful server named lauren. theough out the night it was smooth and relaxing. we started with a split wedge salad & lobster bisque. it was mouth watering. however this bisque, is more tomatoey not as creamy but definitely worth a try! My parents spilt the porter house meal and ate everything on their plate. my aunt and I both ordered filets. i changed my mashed potatoes for a loaded baked potatoe. It was okay, wasn't amazing but tastes good. to help wash it down we had lemon frost & a bottle of J Lohr paso robles cab. over all a great experience and great classy atmosphere. Me and my fiancée come to Rick's when we want to have a nice dinner, we really liked it the times we have been before, but our last time there was awful. Food wasn't as good as always and our waitress Mina was very rude, she had a bad attitude the whole time, even though we barely bothered her because we knew what we wanted to order before getting there. We ordered the porterhouse which came with potato purée, the potato purée was too watery and it tasted like cream too much so we let her know, but her answer was if we knew what a potato purée was?! We asked her for water, she didn't bring any. We wanted to stay longer and have more drinks, but we left because we didn't want to deal with her anymore. Awful customer service Mina! read more

We went for Valentines dinner. Yes, the obligatory dinner, . Everything was amazing. The atmosphere, food, service, staff. All elements hit the mark and I'm so glad we chose here for a special night. We had the porterhouse for two, subbed out Mac and cheese and au gratin potatoes. Carb forward for sure on the sides but so delicious. Steak was cooked perfect to medium rare. This will be a repeat.
