Nestled in this shopping center located on 122nd Avenue and Southwest 8th Street., is a new Argentinean steakhouse that brings a whole world of class and flavor to the West-Tami-Kendall area. This restaurant, recently opened, combines the classic decor of a traditional old world tavern with a few modern touches. The tables all have the white tablecloth with the lit candle centerpieces. The wood paneling and the traditional wine bar lends a charm seen only in the more classical restaurants... The menu includes the traditional fare associated with Argentinean steakhouses. But, it surprises with a wide range of pasta dishes (that to my surprise) are quite popular in their cuisine. Being a bit of a traditionalist, I stuck with the meat portions....however, I anticipate a return to try the pasta. The wine selection is quite ample and can please even the most finicky wine connosiuers. I selected a moderately priced Cabernet Sauvignon to accompany my meal. It was perfectly balanced and not overwhelming Dessert is all made in house and every day. I highly recommend sampling several of them if you're in a group. DEElicious!!!!!!!!! Wow we initially were attempting to eat healthy after playing the slots at Mikosukkee (big fail btw) and thought to have a healthy bite before going home to cook dinner. The place we were attempting was closed. So we walked to this place(THANKGOD) From the moment you walk in you smell the deliciousness. You're greeted and advised to sit wherever you like. Not a big place approximately 20 tables. We ordered the New York strip and the Skirt steak both medium. Both were made to perfection. Both perfectly seasoned and cooked. Saw the great reviews and decided to give this place a try when I was in the area. Especially given that this was a Don Davis before and I had always had a positive experience at the one in Doral. My hubby and I ordered the provoleta to start and we were served bread with chimichurri and salsas (complimentary). What's not to like about melted cheese? It was delicious and the bread was nice and hot; crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. I ordered the Vacio with veggies and rustic potato puree. I asked for medium and it came medium well. The veggies were the kind that come frozen in bags. Besides adding a little salt to my steak, everything else was good. The rustic potato puree was delicious. My hubs ordered the picaña with russian potato salad and fried yuca. He ordered medium and it came medium rare. It did also need some salt but was otherwise good. The potato salad was good as well as the fried yuca. The chimichurri was actually really good and complimented the steaks wonderfully. We didn't order drinks or dessert so I can't comment on those but, overall, it was a good experience. I've been at Rincón Porteño a couple times and make no mistake, this place is AWESOME. They have a really nice service, specially when i have a hard time deciding which type of steak i'm getting they tell me the difference between the cuts they offer and always nail it. I love the bread and butter they give you as an appetizer as well. I usually have the steaks so i don't know about their pasta. But so far i've never been let down. Five out of five stars. read more

My wife and I were in the mood for Italian food and found this restaurant via Yelp. I love trying new restaurants. Place was relatively empty but it was very early in the evening. While looking over the menu my eyes were drawn to a picture on a TV screen of two grilled pork chops with a light brown gravy with mushrooms. Bingo!! The picture alone was enough to turn my attention away from Italian food. So glad I did. I typically do not order pork chops at a restaurant out of fear they will be dry. Not these!! Pork chops were perfectly prepared and grilled. Just enough fat left on the chop to add flavor. The mushroom gravy made it that much better. This was not a good experience. We arrived around 12:pm no one was there dining and the Staff were all there. Our server rolled his eyes when I said waters then he was okay when I asked for a beer for myself. We got served nice warmed bread and ice hard butter in plastic containers. Then we were served after a little wait (food has to cook..right). The special of the house the morcilla (blood sausage) and chorizo and one chicken and one beef empanada. We also ordered caprese salad but that didn't come till a good 15min after the cooked food( I thought that was supposed to come first.?) So the good, the chorizo was nice and hot and cooked thu. The chicken empanada was flavorful and hot on out side and warmed thru inside as was the beef (ground beef was not as flavorful but nice). Beer was served in frosted glass (very nice). Then there was the MORCILLA it came with the chorizo. I cut it open and it smooshed out all liquid ( not moist crumbly ). Okay took a fork full was cool on the inside even though when I touch it it was very warm on outside. Caught the eye of one of the staff ( remember we were the ONLY diners there) Asked if he could heat it up better. 7 min ( plus or minus later...still no salad) a completely new morcilla comes out) Touched it it was very warm cut it (still some what liquidy but firmer... but wait) took a bite...it was frozen in the middle. Ok let's try this again. Called over the server said this is very cold in the middle. I don't think he understood or just didn't care. Came out with the salad and 5min later with yet another morcilla. Which was like the first. By then I was done. Oh and the very late caprese salad ...meh... not horrible if you like store bought mozzarella . Finally a bill lol. There is a sur charge if you use a credit card ( maybe in the fine print). There was no sorry or our apologies. If you're looking for a nice dining experience give this place a HARD PASS. I can't imagine how the more very expensive entrees are and I don't plan to find out. read more

I would have given it 3 and a half stars but it is not an option. Rincon Porteno is a nice cozy neighborhood "Argentine" restaurant with good service and very reasonable prices. I put Argentine in quotation marks because it is a faux Argentine restaurant without any Argentine in sight. They do have a somewhat Argentine Italian menu but not authentic. They didn't have empanadas the night I went which is a sin in Argentina, like no croquetas at a Cuban restaurant or no arepas at a Colombian restaurant. That said, the parillada for two was very good, the sangria was great and we even had some nice appetizers. I would recommend it, if your in the area but "no es Argentino". Cultural appropriation of food is becoming more common and sometimes non natives get it right. Rincon Porteno needs to de a little more research, do some tweaks and it could be a great place. read more

The ambience is casual and decorations are sparse, giving it a very coozy feeling. The service is exceptional and even with a packed restaurant, we never felt unattended or neglected. Now for the food..... Mother dearest had pasta. An unconventional choice for a steakhouse but she absolute loved it. She had ham and cheese cannolis drenched in a sauce which I could not identify but I am not a sauce savant. Daddy dearest had the pork. Im not a big pork fan unless its bacon but it was still very good. Boyfriend dearest (some times) and myself both had the 12oz vacio steak medium. OH EM GEE. They understand what medium is, which is surprisingly rare, and the meat was seasoned very simply while still being very rich and flavorful. It was amazing and hands down the best steak I have had in Miami. I actually forced myself to finish it after I was full because it was that good. 4 plates, 4 drinks, 1 coffee, all under $70!! I was pleasantly surprised by the great food I had last night. New to the area I had never dined here. My friend and I shared the parrillada for 2. Quality was excellent - juicy, tender and fresh cuts of meat. It was a lot for the two of us and we took the majority home. Definitely could have fed 4 people easily. Rincón Porteño is a wonderful surprise! In town for a little getaway and found this gem in a little shopping center. I had the small portion of the Entraña (skirt steak) and I swear it has been one of the best steaks! I had the house sangria to go along with it and my feet have not stopped moving to the wonderful ethnic music they are playing in the background while my taste buds cannot stop asking for more. OK, so this is a follow up to my previous rating. We have come a few more times, and consistently the service is prompt friendly and the food delicious at a reasonable price. I think it was a communication issue the first time we came here and since then always make sure to mention kids portion for our kids.
