This was my 3rd visit to Hurtado. Last year I went for my birthday and the staff was so kind. Then my husband and I came for date night a month later. Today it was my choice for Mother's Day. We were greeted right away and before I even started the order, they gave me some flowers. That was a really nice touch of service. Also ordered a Texas Twinkie! Hurtados knows BBQ. Ribs are tender and tasty and MOIST! The perfect combination. Their burnt ends are other worldly. My absolute favorite. A slight sweet but tangy outer layer that makes your eyes roll back in your head. The Pulled pork equally as good. The turkey...drum roll is the best in Fort Worth. The brisket has the perfect outer crust while maintaining a moistness. Finally the Texas Twinkie....a stuffed jalapenos with pimento cheese and wrapped in bacon cooked in a BBQ sauce outer coating. Scrumptious! Damn, it's sooooo good. Here's where Hurtado rises above other BBQ's restaurants...(besides having great customer service) is their sides. The potato salad is Devine. Deliciously Devine. I usually visit the Arlington location, but since moving this one is closest to me and I just visited today. I'd sing all the same praises as the other one, great food and friendly staff, won't find better barbecue anywhere cheaper. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because their always location is very small, and as a product of their success they're always packed. I'd recommend trying to get there before they start serving lunch at 11 to beat the line, that's what we did. After we got our food and had eaten, a young man in his teens or early 20s came up and asked if maybe he could get some food, so I sat in line again with him and it only took about 5 minutes, so it does move fast, but parking is probably gonna be your biggest issue. You order just inside the front door, where you're given a plastic number to set on your table for service. This place was busy...like, really busy. I was told it'd be a 15 minute wait. But 15 minutes turned into 30, and then 45. I was a little annoyed because nobody checked on us during this wait. Nobody. When the food arrived, the brisket was extremely fatty. If I had to estimate. Holy wow! We are new to the area and found this place on maps. What a gem!!!! The food was out of this world! We came at breakfast and got a two meat platter which comes with the best rice and beans I have ever had, 4 tortillas, 2 choices of meat, eggs, and PHENOMENAL green sauce! This might sound like a backhanded compliment; however, when you go to a restaurant and the sides are stellar that generally means your meal is going to be good. That is how things started at Hurtado BBQ. Before we talk meats let me say that the green beans with chorizo and their street corn were stunning sides. The chorizo they use is actually small chunks of sausage not the ground meat insides which made for a nice texture and the flavor was outstanding. The chorizo was complementary not overpowering. The street corn had a nice balance of cilantro, red pepper and cotija cheese. Very tasty! The meats? We had a three meat platter with burnt ends, brisket and ribs. The burnt ends were fatty and well seasoned. The brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork, while the rub on the ribs was nicely carmelized. This was a platter of comfort food and a palate of BBQ three ways. Be advised they do not serve alcohol so you need to bring your own if that is important to you. They have stool seating and a covered patio seating as well. They have various menu options from 1/2 pound+ of meat to entrees with sides. I got the Texas trifecta with macaroni. The brisket was delicious and had a nice flavor the sausage was the best thing on the plate and the spare ribs weren't bad with a little bbq sauce. I'm used to my potato salad having cubed potatoes but for some reason at this location, it was mashed and there's just something about cold mashed potato salad that is just offputting and it just was not seasoned appropriately either so that really was a bummer.
