Stopped by for an early dinner. Andres was our waiter and he was very nice and efficient. I had the cheeseburger and hubby had the french dip. My burger was excellent and too big to finish. The french dip was very good and too big to finish. After we'd boxed everything up, I mentioned that it was my husbands birthday and before we could say anything, he'd brought a complimentary piece of cake with a candle. Strawberry and chocolate drizzle everywhere. We were already paid, on our way out and he didn't have to do that, but he did. This was our first visit and we will be back. read more

Stopped by to grab a quick lunch. Not sure what happened to this place. Used to be ok, now, not so much. Stick with salad. Fish tacos smelled and tasted bad. The cheese on top makes them taste a little like vomit. The rice had frozen peas and carrots in it. What happened? Such a great place not so long ago. read more

Sunday April 21, 2013 A group of 10 of us arrived at the Grill at 10:30 this morning. We called ahead and reserved a table which was ready for us when we arrived. The restaurant was practically empty. Things went downhill from there. It seemed to take a long time to get a waitress to take our orders and then it took 65 minutes to get our food, all of which was breakfast food. All of the meals were cold and 4 out of 10 of us did not get what we ordered. When we asked to speak to a manager, it took about 10 minutes for him to show up and then he said he'd see what he could do. He did not offer to replace any of our meals with hot ones. When our bills finally arrived, the manager had taken the cost of our beverages off our bill. I believe all of our meals should have been comped. All of us told the manager that we would not be back. read more

This is a wonderful place for atmosphere and food. I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and my husband had the New York Strip. They were both perfectly done and we were impressed by our server and his professional manner. The new owner even stopped by to check on our meal! We showed up for our reservation where they take the smaller tables to the main dining area, and the larger parties to the "banquet room". Basically a big room set-up to be overflow for big groups. The food was presented buffet style and it was presented rather well, everything looked good, and was hot/warm and seemed fine. Eating is a different story. I had NOTHING that was "great" or WOW. everything was, OK at best. Eggs were plain ole eggs, no omelette or waffle chef. Just a carver for subpar prime rib. Desserts were blah as well. No one of my group of 8 enjoyed dessert. Service was fine, the guy was polite and promt, but all he had to do was bus the table and bring us drinks. Selection was ok but missing some buffet/brunch essentials you'd expect for 30 bucks a person. Wouldn't go back and I don't recommend you do either. Strike one. The young man never wrote our name down on the list after telling us it would be a 20 to 40 minute wait. Strike 2 - After waiting about 15 or 20 minutes I went back to the hostess stand and our name was crossed out and she said she already seated that party. She asked me if I gave her a different name. What???. Strike 3 - We were given menus but never got a waitress to come to our table after I told one of the waitresses and a staff person that no one ever came to our table. We waited a while longer and no one ever came. We left not happy. Plus the odor there was putrid. They must have treated their grass with something. The only good part was hearing Steve Olson sing. What a relaxing Sunday morning sitting on the patio enjoying mimosas and a delicious breakfast! The California omelette was tasty and the prime rib scramble was excellent with lots of meat! Service was welcoming and our server Lauren was very attentive and was quick to check up on us consistently. Also the good was excellent. We ordered the mussels and cheese dip for our starters and for the main entrees we had the seafood fettuccine, a herb chicken with mash potatoes and asparagus with a lemon base, than a 14oz steak cooked medium well that came out perfect and finally the tortellini which was rich and creamy. We went in for breakfast this Saturday morning. The mimosas were excellent, the food was fast and the service was awesome. My husband had one of the scrambles, everthing was cooked great. I will start with Mike and the pro shop are fantastic. The course is great and well maintained. The grill on the other hand is something else. Very disappointed in this establishment. Being a contractor in town for work with 5 other men that would frequent this place bi weekly I expected more. Growing up in the restaurant industry you understand how hard you work for a customer to come to your establishment. If I knew asking the bartender for a menu would lead the owner chasing me down 2 holes later and complaining how hard it is to get workers to work. Get behind the bar yourself like I did for 10 years and make it happen captain. So sick and tired of everyone that thinks the world owes them a participation trophy. Uncomfortably silent. The kitchen is the only noise there. No music playing in the background. I bought the most expensive item on the menu, the prime rib. It came with scooped mash potatoes that were bland. I would imagine the potatoes are the same as prison mashed potatoes. The prime rib was okay but not impressive for the price. Visually the plate looked depressing with the golf ball looking mashed potatoes. Service was slow for an empty restaurant. Overall sub-par. read more

Been here many times and always had great service and food! Yesterday was the exception, we placed our order at 11:20am simple order; two club sandwiches and fish n chips ( there may have been 2-3 other tables after we ordered). Approximately 11:45 our server, (which by the way he was great and not his fault at all), told us our food would be out shortly after they served the large group that came in 10-15 minutes after us, but had pre-ordered, which we thought was a little strange, there was only us 3 but accepted his explanation. 11:58 still no food, as the old man who is always at his computer walked by I said "excuse me we've been waiting for our food since order was placed at 11:20" he put his finger up and said "wait I have to take care of this large group", which he wasn't servicing only wanted to speak w the server who was. Then comes back to us and was immediately defensive towards us when I complained again and said to us "I don't know what you want me to say, we have a large group to take care of first" - he also disputed my timeline of 11:20. Then he threw his hands up in the air and walked off. I put money on the table to cover our two iced teas and we walked out telling our server we have never experienced such poor poor customer service and assured him it wasn't his fault. Went to Fathers day brunch which was advertised on a big banner from the street with hours from 9-12. Showed up at 9:30 and there was no one eating. Food is out on sterno buffet style. I ask the General Manager if I can be seated and he said they didn't open until 10am. I asked him, "why did the sign say 9?" he replied, "I know, it's an old sign". He was apathetic and wouldn't provide even the slightest justification for using it. These guys also have a 'copper river' banner they hang out during copper river season. I wonder if that is just an old sign and they don't actually serve any copper river salmon they just use the sign? If they can't get their hours right are they able to get their tempuratures and cook times right? Another oddity, the public relations/hospitality skills of this place is non-existent and in fact is outright hostile. While making this legitimate complaint to the General Manager a busboy steps between us and agressively stands very close asking me to leave. Again the GM exercised no control over an employee who was obviously not a person with the capacity to deal with customers. A General Manager of all people needs to be able to handle hearing legitimate criticism about their business without unleashing thugs on a potential customer. Having an overly agressive person in my face quickly escalated the small complaint to an arguement and I left. From complaining about a simple erroneous sign I discovered upper management indifference and a hospitality & epicurious lawsuit waiting to happen. Way to go Renton. Give this place a wide berth they appear only to be able to cook trouble. read more

A sad excuse for a meal greeted us this rainy December evening. An appetizer order of clams turned out to be very good, but that's where the meal ended. Our entrees were poorly prepared, and the seafood ingredients had seen better days...perhaps a week ago. The salads seemed like they came from a bag; soggy and lifeless. The Alfredo sauce contained zero garlic, absolutely zero. I tried to twirl the fettuccine noodles on my fork but none were more than 2" in length (perhaps reused from an earlier batch?). In all, this lovely location is being wasted due to inferior ingredients, seafood which has long expired and an absolute lack of basic cookery. When we left (5:00 on a Saturday night) the dining room was totally empty, no surprise there! Another one bites the dust. read more

Used to better. VERY unfriendly now. First nice Friday evening to sit on patio. There were signs all around to see hostess before sitting down. They used to have a bar side and restaurant side. Before you could just grab a table on bar side. NOT ANYMORE. We got seated on restaurant side and you could tell waitress was po'd we weren't ordering dinner. Had to ask for happy hour menu. There was music but poor guy was playing to empty tables on bar side when we left. LIGHTEN UP MGMT and take down the signs on 1/2 the patio. Used to go all the time on the summer. The sunday brunch buffet felt like they put forth the absolute minimum effort. It has all the typical brunch items, an omelet station, as mentioned by another member - a roast beef carving station, various breakfast items. It is all mediocre. Really just a waste of calories. The setting ALMOST saves it but I probably wouldn't eat there again, by choice. If you just wanted a nice setting overlooking a golf course to have a conversation and get your nosh on to kill the time, sure... the sad part is, based on where it is, it could really turn a profit if it just had some pride. When I asked the chef if they had ham for the omelets and he told me, with a straight face, he said "not today." They must have used all they had in the watery scrambled eggs. I ordered a bloody mary and i literally thought I got the wrong drink because it was pink. ... a PINK bloody mary. and it had so much vodka in it, if you waved a match over the top the fumes likely would have flamed it up. If I finished it, I likely would have risked a DUI. Oh yeah, I had to go to the bar to get it myself. I told the waiter that it just wasn't good and he said he'd try to "fix" it but as mentioned, I couldn't finish it. So, in closing, it would have only got one star if it wasn't for the view. I don't know of many options for brunch buffets in Renton area so if you're in a pinch, it'll do the trick but I'd just save the money. read more

This review is based on the Easter brunch that my family and I experienced today. Let's just say that for $30 per person plus automatic gratuity regardless of the service you did or did not receive, it was not in any way worth the price. First of all, we were seated in a blah banquet room right next to the buffet where everyone was walking by getting their food, so the atmosphere was not appealing. The brunch came with orange juice OR coffee - and the coffee was not hot. My water tasted warm........I asked for some ice when we were seated but never received it. Most holiday brunches I've been to include a mimosa, but here you had to pay extra. The food was mediocre at best. Half the stuff looked like it had been sitting there for hours; the eggs were brown and the salad was wilted. You had to peel your own shrimp if you wanted it and some of the other seafood smelled off and obviously not fresh. Most of the baked goods looked like they were bought day-old from a grocery store. No fresh omelet or crepe or waffle station. Overall the quality was extremely low and I will never be back there for a brunch, if at all. read more

Awful Valentine's Day morning spent having breakfast at this place! We ordered an omelette that was supposed to come with potatoes and toast, the waiter brought the ketchup but she forgot about the potatoes OR the toast! We also got the smoked salmon bagel which was OK but my husband had to build it, it came in pieces on a plate. We could have gone to the store and get the stuff ourselves and do it at home, but I guess someone in the kitchen got lazy! We waited for the food 45 minutes, and they had only 4 tables to wait on. I asked the young blond waiter if the omelette came indeed with potatoes and she looked at me puzzled, she did not even know, she had to think... The omelette was probably one egg and some baby veggies, I left hungry! I told her To take the potatoes off my $12 price for the plate and she said that was the price and I had to pay it in full, with attitude! We asked her to speak to the manager, and after 10 minutes of me looking for her to get the bill, she disappeared and sent another guy who brought me the bill that had the omelette at full price. I explained to him that half of my plate was forgotten and he again proceeded in telling me I had to pay the full price and next time I should order a 'side' omelette!! Another attitude! Seriously?? I said - 'I don't think you understand, the waiter forgot to bring the potatoes and toast and therefore I will not pay $12 for the meal.' He finally fixed the bill and charged me $7! My family went to River Rock Grill the restaurant at Maplewood Golf course for my birthday. My daughter was going to order a cheeseburger and she has Type 1 diabetes so we have to count her carbs and test her blood than give her a shot before she eats. We asked the waitress if she could help us out by giving us any info on the amount of carbs on the hamburger buns. The waitress didn't speak good English and couldn't understand what we were asking but acted like she did she came back to take our order and we asked about the carbs again and she looked confused so she went to go get the manager. The manager shows up to my table(she too can barely speak English) and asks what we needed. I explained to the manager we needed to know the carbs in the hamburger buns, my daughter has diabetes and if there was any info on carbs that would be very helpful. The manager said she would go back and ask the cook than she tells me we have to leave the restaurant and to take my daughter to the bathroom in the lobby. When she comes back she tells me the cook wasn't there but whoever was in the back said there was 220 carbs... Im guessing they meant calories. We could have taken a guess at the carbs like we often do when we go out but because it took so much effort to gain so little information that seems to be typical knowledge for someone with food service and handling experience on top of being asked to leave for my daughter to take her medication, we chose to leave and want to warn others of their discrimination. read more

The food is fair to above average on some dishes. The atmosphere is generally good. Have gone to some of their summer shows on the Patio and unless you catch Loud Mouth Blonde, whos fronted by an Obnoxious, Untalented loudmouth blonde the shows are usually fun and you can't beat the views. My husband and I will need to make sure we check their event schedule from now on before going there for live music. We've been disappointed by the band twice. read more

Although I have been a regular customer, that's going to change soon. Over the years I've enjoyed sitting on the patio in the summer and scanning the course through the windows in the winter. Unfortunatley, I've witnessed a STEEP decline in the food's quality during the last two years. This evening took the cake. My husband started out with a FLAT tap beer. Nice guy that he is, he didn't say anything. I ordered wild Alaskan salmon specifically for the cherry infused salsa. My entree came sans cherry salsa. When I politely asked my server about this, she said that she'd check for me. Although she came to the table several times thereafter, there was no mention of the missing salsa. When I finally asked again she remarked, "Oh we are out". Well, if a key ingredient is missing from an advertised entree, best to mention that from the onset so the diner can make an informed decision. The salmon by the way was dry as sawdust.
