We had a great breakfast this morning while over looking the golf course's 10th tee and green. Beautiful! The older golfers hit the ball straight and short. Most younger golfers hit the ball hard and in the rough at best. Some hit it straight. The grill menu provides a wide selection of great food at a reasonable cost. More importantly, the food was well prepared, presented and tasted like home cooking. I liked the option of having a fresh fruit cup instead of hash browns. Coffee kept coming until we ask to stop. This place is well furnished and kept clean. Noticeably clean! The wait staff was professional, kind and attentive. We have nothing but "good" to say and highly recommend the River Rock Grill. Huge portions, reasonable prices, and amazing views. The owners changed a few years back and so we weren't sure how the quality would be affected. I grew up hearing about their amazing Mother's Day brunches that my mom went to with her own parents when she was little. I can't say I can see this place doing anything that exciting these days, but that doesn't mean the River Rock isn't an awesome brunch option. I came with a big group of people for brunch and the last of us came just before 11am, when they switch the kitchen from breakfast to lunch. We got our orders in just before 11am so we all got to order breakfast. Most of us got the chicken fried steak with country gravy, which came with two eggs, fruit, and your choice of bread. You can upgrade from toast to banana bread for a couple bucks. Parking was fine, the waiting staff was friendly. The owner sat at one of the booths with his laptop out doing business during our meal. First time back to River Rock since the pandemic Our lunch was great! Our servers were some of the best I've had. Polite and efficient My sister and i both ordered fish and chips. Their fries are really, really good. Coleslaw was exactly the way i like it. The fish was breaded which is my favorite way to eat it. Two of the pieces were excellent but one was dry and stringy like it had been frozen too long. Fortunately i was full by the time i bit into that one. Tarter sauce was excellent also We had the brownie sundae and it was wonderful I am mildly disabled and i couldnt find disabled parking So the reason i took off one star is because of the one piece of fish and the parking. Place just re-opened for dining in. Our 1st meal out in 3 months, we loved it! Our server was A+++ (Bertha? not sure). The food was so good. Hubs had eggs benedict, so so good, and I had a Denver Omelet. They explained how they clean and super clean everything to make it safe for customers. We so enjoyed dining out! It was a little chilly still to be eating outdoors, but they do have a lovely patio for warmer days. Went for the Mother's Day brunch. We have been for breakfast a couple of times as well. The brunch was ok but for the price I expected a little more. They advertised crab legs but they were tiny, half frozen and had very little meat for all the work on the soggy shells. We did like the salmon with the lobster sauce, and the roast beef was nicely cooked as well. The potatoes were under-seasoned and the cut fruit was mushy. None of the desserts seemed home-made and were just average. My waitress gave me a diet drink instead of a regular and when she replaced it she didn't acknowledge or apologize. The cold drinks were full of ice and very little of the actual beverage and there was a bit of a delay for refills. Then they charged 20% on top of the entire bill (including tax) for tip, which seemed a bit inappropriate. We loved the river rock grill as a family, my grown kids and I and we spent many holidays gathering as a family. Indiependant of each all of us have stopped going to the river rock grill. My last experience was a month ago, I ordered the fish and chips a former favorite, what I got was three bites of fish, totally less than a fillet, our favorite wait staff have moved on to greener pastures and service wasnt bad, but wasn't seller like it used to be. It also was expensive for the bites of fish, they call it pieces of fish, but I expected to be served 3 fillets and ended up getting 3 bites. I felt ripped off and the server says that is just how they do it now. Very sad to see the quality of food and service diminish and poor value, I guess 3 strikes and your out. read more

We made a reservation for breakfast on Father's Day and were quite disappointed. We were informed by our server that they were short staffed, which was understandable, but we still were not quite expecting to spend an hour and a half waiting for our food. We also had to constantly flag down our server to ask for more water and coffee. When our food finally arrived it was disappointing as well. I had ordered the Eggs Benedict and was very disappointed to see my eggs arrive scrambled in hollandaise over two very hard (impossible to cut) English muffins. It looked as though the hollandaise scrambled on accident and they served it to me anyway. We were in such a hurry after having waited so long for our food that we did not send the food back and suffered through the lackluster food. Because of the lateness of everything, we were late to other engagements we had later in the day. Overall such a negative experience. Our hostess and waitress treated us like friends even though it was very busy. Last minute table of 8, "no problem" they said. Paired perfectly with sour cream and guacamole. The coffee refills were never late and always abundant. I recommend sitting in Berthas section because she was always attentive with a smile. We have about 18 years of dining history at this place. Its at the golf course we play at often. We tried giving them a covid chance of redemption tonight after another really bad experience. Made a reservation for the patio. Seated quickly and that is where service stopped. After 20 minutes a server came outside and made eye contact with us then decided to help someone that just walked in after we said, we are next. That must of pissed her off and she decided to help another (second group) table that was just seated. Then never came to out table. 25 minutes was enough, we left. We were sat quickly but then never served. Several servers and hosts walked by us many times and ignored us. It wasn't busy so it's not like they were just slammed with other tables. It's interesting to see how each of your favorite restaurants is responding to the inflation and wage increase affects on planning their business / menu's / pricing. The River Rock (not the bar - the restaurant side) has been a longtime favorite for those of us wanting a quiet spot to enjoy a meal. Walking in the Wine displays are meant to make you feel like you are about to enjoy Fine Dining. On the evening (6pm) we went there was only one other table being served and the wait staff was sitting at a booth shooting the breeze, waiting for the next customer. It was hot outside so we opted for an inside table in appreciation of the air conditioning. The waitstaff was a high school aged girl that seemed nice enough but referred to us as "you guys" as if she was the cart girl on 12th hole offering up beers. Point in saying all this is to bring to light the price value equation in dining today. We proceeded to order a a $15 appetizer and two entrees - one $24 and one $34. Now I understand that prices have gone up and a couple years ago these would have been maybe 6 to 8 dollars less. But there has been a major shift in restaurants choosing to go the route of shrinkflation (less food for the same price) or having to find ways to show value at the new higher price without a hit to the bottom line. This comes from filling the plate with lower cost elements such as a larger scoop of mashed potatoes or rice - both of which cost very little to add. As of our last meal at River Rock I can only suggest they have not figured out this value equation - and despite the fact that we were hungry and my wife's steak was prepared as requested - the meal just didn't provide the value that we had come to know from eating there. read more

While in Seattle I found this restaurant on Open Table and made a reservation. My husband had been very disappointed because he wasn't able to watch the last day of the U S Open Golf on TV at our hotel. When we got to River Rock, voila they had a TV in the bar, and since it was at a golf course, the U S Open was on TV. I went to thanksgiving dinner tonight thinking I would have a nice restaurant experience but instead was seated in a banquet room with harsh lighting & bad music! The food was okay but very overpriced at $300 for 4 people and it looked and felt like I was at a banquet or church dinner. I feel so deceived and should have been told about this when making a reservation. Had I known this I would not have dined at River Rock! There was also no indication that dinner would be served in a banquet room on the restaurant website. So disappointed overall! There is something really nice about this clubhouse, that is the view onto the green, but then it falls short there. I've been here a few times over the years and have experienced both "meh" food and drinks. Nothing exciting and nothing terrible about the food or service; its just bland. Menu offers a varity of entrees from pasta to meat, salads and soups, sandwiches and even brunch. Attempts to offer cozy atmosphere with fireplace in the dining area and flat screen TVs in the bar area just doesn't seem to bring in the people. I know you are thinking golf course, good food? This place for breakfast was fantastic. We were met and greeted right away and shown to a great table with a view of the golf course. Our waitress was prompt and extremely courteous. We ordered Mimosas to start. They came out quickly and the flavor was above average. Next to the good stuff. We ordered a California omelet and I had the Corn Beef Hash. California omelet had done perfectly with fresh and ripe avocado on top. The Corn Beef Hash from now on must be compared against this place. I can only tell you the texture of the corned beef was perfect. The potatoes and eggs were done as requested. Sunday Brunch Isn't Bad There aren't many buffets in Renton, and every once in a while I like indulging in one for Sunday brunch. When we found out that River Rock Grill & Ale House offered one, we headed over. Surprisingly, it wasn't very crowded, even though it's on the Maplewood Golf Course and the parking lot was pretty full. I guess most people there were golfing, not brunching. River Rock has a country club atmosphere, but isn't pretentious. Contrary to the complaints about the service, we found the staff to be quite friendly and accomodating. The buffet wasn't particularly large but offered some nice choices, particularly the roast beef carving station, the lox & smoked fish, and the chicken wings which aren't normally encountered at a Sunday brunch buffet. However, we found the best items to be the crêpes & éclairs, both of which were outstanding. As a bonus, there's endless orange juice refills. Overall, I'd rate the food just average, but given the very reasonable $17.95 price tag I'd say it's a good value. read more

I searched the web for outdoor dining near Renton, WA and unfortunately the River Rock Grill, which was a perfect fit did not show up on the search. This indicates that paid advertising has won out on these websites supposedly driven by customer reviews. I guess I am naive. Anyhow, I have been to the River Rock Grill many times and have always had good, tasty food, with a variety of choices, in a beautiful setting, and excellent service. I usually go there with a group of friends, and everyone leaves satisfied. The lunch menu comprises yummy sandwiches, salads and some specials that will satisfy everyone. I have not tried their desserts because we are usually too full to eat another bite. read more

Pretty appalled at the service we received today. We called 2 weeks ago and made a reservation for 17 for Mothers Day dinner. Got a voicemail next day that confirmed our reservation and telling us they were having the kids menu for that night. Yesterday we called again to confirm and were told they didn't have our reservation and they just switch scheduling service but they had us down! We arrived only to be told they in fact did not have us down. They apologized and said someone made a mistake and yadda yadda. They told us they could still seat us but IN THE LOBBY. Literally in their front room next to the front door and bathrooms!!! Is that even legal?! Not even a "we're putting tables together for you, it'll be a few." Which we would have gladly waited for. How can you say you made a mistake and give us the option to eat basically outside. Oh. and they offered 50% off. Like that would make up for their carelessness. How about let's make this right and put something together in the actual restaurant. Not eat on the porch. Extremely disrespectful and disappointed!! Great food with nice view and good customer service under new management really love the place

I've eaten here many times. Mostly on the patio which is great when it's sunny. My wife, infant son, and I came with a prior online reservation made. We were told you can't make a reservation online for the patio. Wish we would have known! Anyway, we waited despite the reservation and eventually got a table outside to enjoy the sunshine. We ordered the "bacon jalapeño poppers" on the happy hour menu plus our entrees. When we got the appetizer we were surprised to find there was no bacon on them. None at all. In fact, they looked like the frozen poppers I could buy myself at the grocery store. Oh and no bacon. When we told the waiter he said "they said there is bacon mixed in." There wasn't. Really shocked by their false advertising and poor quality. We sent the poppers back and didn't eat them. Lastly, when we got our check, the poppers we didn't eat were still on the check, plus my wife got an extra wine added on the bill. We had to send it back TWICE to get it fixed. Overall very disappointed with the customer service of the staff. The only reason I didn't give 1 star is because our entrees were very tasty. I got prime rib and my wife got the swordfish. Went to breakfast with my family last Sunday morning and they had had loud obnoxious country music playing. The food is generally good here in the evenings but the breakfast wasn't very good. They must of been understaffed because no one checked up on us and i had to get up and track down my own salt and pepper and condiments even though we were the one of two tables of people at the restaurant. We never ate. My party of four were seated at 6:25. We were seated outside and told "pick a table". That remark constituted 75% of the service we got. A young girl gave us water. That was the other 25%. We sat for almost 1/2 an hour, and watched as bored staff asked those at other tables over and over if they needed anything else. No wine list, no silverware, no order taken. After the table seated 15 minutes after us had their order taken, we got p and walked out. Normally people would yell "Hey! Excuse me!", but in my experience, once you have to beg to be waited on, you will be chasing staff all night anyway. Totally low brow experience. Just saw their comment back to my review. I have had breakfast lunch and dinner here now. For all three meals my dining experience has been amazing. The food is great and the staff are friendly. The cheeseburger I had for lunch was amazing. Cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The fries are perfect too. Light and fluffy like a cloud on the inside and crispy and crunchy on the outside. I am a huge fan of chicken-fried steak and when I had their chorizo gravy it blew my mind. They have taken an. American classic and changed the game. Its solid, and great for the area, where there isn't much. I'm in the neighborhood and we visit 1-2 times a week. They have the best burger I've found in Renton and their specials give some variety. Good breakfast! There is always at least a few tables so I don't have to worry about my kids getting antsy and they are very child friendly. Pleasantly surprised! The mango chicken slaw was delicious with it's sweet and tangy notes, and the beef kebab salad was generous and delightful with a greek flavor and varied lettuces. Jose was a great server, and the window seat overlooking the green was fun. Yummy neighborhood place! read more

We recently came here for Thanksgiving brunch and the food was just mediocre all around. The turkey was just dry and a bit overcooked with no juices whatsoever from the meat. It needed a heap of gravy just to give it some taste, but the redeeming factor was that the stuffing was pretty good which made the turkey a bit more edible. They also had prime rib which was which nice and soft in texture, but again it was overcooked or had been sitting too long under the heating lamps and just dried out the meat. They didn't have any au jus for the meat and I had to use the turkey gravy to give it some taste. The ham on the other hand was a bit more moist than the prime rib and they also had a nice pineapple gravy for you to add to the meat. The other side items like sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and salad were just ok and nothing special. They also had a big fruit platter with all kinds of fruits from honeydew, cantaloupe and strawberries which was a nice option at the end of the meal to help with digestion after consuming all those meats. The best part of the whole meal were the desserts. I really liked the very small mini pumpkin and custard pies. They tasted very fresh and were not too big which was just a great size after such a heavy meal. Service here was spot on as they always took our used plates away quickly and they refilled my soda glass with not me even asking. Overall an ok experience for my first time here, but not sure if I'd come back with so many other options to choose from for Thanksgiving brunch read more
