Make it fresh and churro matcha latte
    Tash C.

Have been a customer at this location for several years. Haven't been a quite a while lately, but visited recently and the staff remember me, my partner and our orders! Definitely the BEST coffee spot in Pleasant Hill! Check them out when you need your next coffee fix. PSA: Shoutout to Fern and Rain B for being super amazing!

the iced maple matcha w oatmilk was so good! definitely my favorite matcha in the area- the matcha flavor is strong and the matcha powder is good quality. this cute coffee shop is conveniently located in pleasant hill, with a large menu and lots of seasonal drinks too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]there is a large outdoor seating area with benches, which was the only thing i was disappointed about as there is no indoor seating, and i wanted to go there and do work but no biggie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Gluten free pastry (pumpkin muffin)
    Ingrid A.

Stopped by for coffee near the location I was in, and I am very satisfied that they offer gluten free options for pastries and food items. Today I got a gluten free pumpkin pastry and a seasonal drink (hot Ube coconut latte). For both items I spend about $12. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and cozy, there is seating area right outside, staff was friendly and knowledgeable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend to try this coffee shop if you are in the area!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute neighborhood coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Coffee and matcha were good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor space is big but the inside is small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not really enough space inside to hang out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Small parking lot but got lucky with parking in the front. Will be visiting again when the weather is nice and if I feel like having my drinks outdoors.

This is a cute place and not too crowded at 10:30 AM on a Saturday. They work fast. There is also plenty of seating outside with umbrellas. The coffee was pretty pricey but they offer plenty of options. Also, very rare to find coffee shops that offer so many milk options, especially macadamia. Their snacks look yummy too, but we didn't get to try anything this time around. I ordered their maple matcha latte and it was divine. Real matcha too! The bf ordered the strawberry basil lemonade and didn't even share haha. I definitely would come back again and support this small business. On a nice day, it's a great spot to hang out with friends and not too loud.

Ask the Community - Rooted Coffee

Are they open during "shelter in place"?

Their website has been updated today! They're opening up on Tuesday March 24th for online orders and curbside pick up - 9am to 1pm. I'm so excited because I've completely run out of their coffee beans.

What do you have that's vegan?

Hi! Our entire menu is vegan :)

Are there gluten free items on the menu?

Yes they have gluten free options

What brand of cashew cream cheese does rooted use?

We make our own cashew cream cheese!

Do any of the "milks" contain Guar Gums?

Hi Kayla! One of the creamers that we use, Ripple, does list Guar Gum as an ingredient. We have a variety to choose from!

This was our first time at a Paris Baguette, and given that it's a 40-minute drive from home, this…read morewas a well-planned and anticipated visit. The location is easy to get to, with lots of parking behind in a lot, and it's very clean, with lots of chairs and tables; yet all were filled this Saturday evening, which is a good sign. There are too many pastries, treats, and drinks to even cover, and we spent a few minutes trying to find our choices, which you mainly pick from cabinets using a self-serve tray and tongs. For drinks and cake (whole or sliced), you order those at the counter. We decided on some pastries, some cake slices, and a drink. And S'mores was the predominant theme today. We ordered a raspberry fruit bite, 2 chocolate supreme croissants, 2 S'mores Belgian waffles, a sugar mochi donut, a coffee donut croissant, 2 slices of S'mores chocolate marshmallow cake, and a slice of rainbow cake. We also got the cream cheese puff and the crème brûlée bombolone ... quite the name! And, of course, a S'mores frappe! The server helping us at the register was polite and efficient, but there was only one register open and a long line. As such, other folks were helping gather the goodies from the cake case, and as we were taking these to go, we did not realize until we were home that the rainbow cake was not a rainbow cake, but a THIRD slice of S'mores cake. Ugh. That one was chosen by the 8-year-old, who was understandably not happy, and the additional insult of paying extra (above the cost of the S'mores) for a cake we didn't get made ME unhappy too! Paid $8.29, got a $6.99 cake slice. The pastries are generally good, with some very good and some more of a "meh." Among the best were the raspberry fruit bite and the coffee donut croissant. That coffee one was a surprise, as it had a soft liquid filling we didn't realize when buying, and the taste was very coffee, which I loved. Will get that again for sure. The S'mores chocolate supreme croissant was also popular. The crème brûlée bombolone was different, with a light pastry and a filling different from what I usually find in crème puffs, and it was tasty. The waffles were not a light and airy as we would have liked, but the flavor was good. The mochi donut was a bit dry as well, not up to true Japanese bakery standards, and the cream cheese puff was all puff and short on the cream cheese (see photos). And the S'more cake was good for flavor, very rich and S'morey, but the presentation really is lacking. Not that I normally compare one chain to another, but for example, when we get Crumbl, the product is very close to the advertising. Not so with the S'more cake, and I am not even sure all the layers were there and in the proper order or proportion; check out the photos and see what I mean. However, the flavor was spot on, and that is the ultimate goal, although the "eyes eat first," as we Yelpers know! And the highlight was not a pastry or cake, but the S'more frappe. It was layered beautifully, fresh-tasting, and very S'morey (yes, a new word I now love!). We even got a second, as we had to eat this there so it could be shared by the group, and it was calling us! Definitely hope it is available next visit, and Starbucks could take a lesson in quality versus price point. Some of the pastries here are really not worth the cost for the product (would skip the cream cheese puff, for example, and the mochi donut), but everything else was very good. Other than an error in fulfilling the order correctly and a couple a poor pastries (quality), it was a good first visit, and we all would come back when near a location.

Grabbed a few pastries-- all were flaky and delicious. Probably even better if it were warm. I was in a time crunch so didn't ask for it. I assume it's true because their cup sizing has changed which I'm sadly disappointed. It's more open space/spacious and I had to create a new rewards account. Drink menu names changed slightly on kiosk and on the wall. They don't have that tacky shelf with plush, stuff, Knick knacks, for sale anymore. Drink still good, I don't think recipe has changed. I heard, then seen it for myself, the instagram post and stories shared by friends, of people dancing and partying at the shop late nights after hours. Then when I went in, also still had the sign up that said they did dance concert or hosted DJ nights at the shop. But Im also assuming it was under the old management and they must've got caught something doing something illegal or something they weren't suppose to be doing. The minus one star is for the cup sizing. Bring it back! Main reason why I love coming here, a good price for big cup size. Now it's like every other boba shop. Which is fine, but I won't go out of my way to come get boba here like I used to.

Milk Tea Lab is now under new ownership at this location, and having been visiting this spot quite…read moreoften throughout that time I've become more than familiar with the quality and expectations of this place. This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.
