Went on a Tuesday evening. Staff were in the back and even after acknowledging me left me standing there for a while. Selection was limited, which I would expect at the end of the day. I got a bacon maple doughnut and a crumb coated doughnut. Donuts were fine. Not oily, not overly sweet. I had a couple of questions about what each donut was. They seemed annoyed that I was asking questions. Two donuts and a chocolate milk came to $12. It was also very hot in the store. We are in the middle of a heat advisory. But I imagine it's like that in the summer too.

Such a great experience. The gentleman who greeted us and took our order was so happy and it shined through the entire experience. The donuts were delicious and the customer service was delightful. I wish there were more businesses that had people like this working. It's such a difference maker.

I never in the area but when I am I make sure to visit Rose Donuts. I loveeee their donuts have been since I found out about them. Today I got the deluxe croissant and the Vietnamese iced coffee the forever faves. Lines are long but service is fast and the always moving so the wait is never long. Place smells yummy and there's good tables and chairs for you to rest while waiting for your order.

I have not tried the donuts yet, but the Vietnamese coffee was not bad. It's not as strong as other places and it's not also not made in the traditional phin (they use espresso machine), but the aroma is not bad. They have a 16oz and 24 oz. They're a mom and pop shop with friendly owners and they do take cards! * if you're into seasonal donuts, their Halloween-decorated donuts are currently on sale! I plan to come back to try their donuts; they look like the type of donuts that I like -- cakey!

THE BEST DONUTS IN SAN DIEGO. This location off Morena Blvd at Napa & Linda Vista Road near the 8 & 5 freeways by Old Town IS PHENOMENAL. I have been coming here since 2011. They have the BEST glazed donuts, like biting into an Angel. They use the BEST DONUT DOUGH, which doesn't taste cheap, but is super French Pastry Chef-ish. They have breakfast croissants, sandwiches, and all coffees here. I can't wait for them to expand their location to be more of a cafe. Upgrade your donut experience and become a connoisseur of them like me. I brought the idea of the maple bacon donut to them in 2012 and they have been making them ever since. LOVE THIS BUSINESS! The line is always super long and they move it quickly. It is worth the small wait time. Do it!

If you're familiar with where the University of San Diego (USD) is located, then you probably know about a really popular donut shop called Rose Donuts. I've driven past this donut shop many times throughout the years, but have never purchased donuts from there or eaten there. Rose Donuts is my daughter and her fiancé's favorite donut shop in all of San Diego. My daughter had brought some donuts home and they were some of the tastiest donuts I've ever grubbed on. Today, my wife and I stopped by for my first time, we ordered sandwiches, drinks, and donuts. The customer service from the young lady, the value for my money and yummy sandwich, the creamy shake, and my maple bacon donut all confirmed why my daughter is a fan and why I am now a fan. Rose Donuts is an institution in the Linda Vista area. According to my kiddo, it's a family owned business and multiple generations have run this Mom and Pop donut shop. For the longest time, they were a cash only business, but finally modernized and now take card, which was a great business move for them and more convenient for loyal customers. Rose Donuts is just down the hill from USD. It can be found in a strip mall called Ford Trolley Plaza. It's next to Matador Mexican Grill and in the shopping center adjacent called The Presidio, you'll find J&T Thai Street Food, Sharetea, and Rip Curl. Across from Rose, another shopping center can be found and you'll find Urbane Cafe, Pho Kitchen, and Pizza Guys. The donut shop is at the corner of Napa Street and Linda Vista Road. There's plenty of parking. Once you enter the shop, you'll notice the display cases of their donuts, pastries/cookies, and ice cream. It's an inviting place with Welcome to Rose Donuts signage, pics of their food, and a large pic of the San Diego skyline. There are approximately 6 tables with overhead fans for our hot days. The customer service provided by the young lady was friendly, attentive, and she was thorough with her assistance. I've passed by Rose Donuts on multiple occasions and besides my family's glowing reviews, I've heard and read positive accolades about this shop. The laudatory reviews were always about their donuts and prior to my first time stepping into Rose Donuts, I was blessed to eat their donuts when my daughter brought some home. I didn't realize they sold other items besides donuts. We decided to order sandwiches for dinner and if you're a fan of value for your money, then I'm confident you will be a fan of their sandwiches. I ordered a Club Sandwich and decided on toasted sourdough for my bread choice. The sandwich was substantial, had plenty of deli meat, they were generous with their bacon, the vegetables were fresh, and it was a filling sandwich. That sandwich was tasty and satisfying. Since I was at a donut shop, of course I had to order one for dessert. I ordered a round maple bacon donut. It was covered with savory bacon, the sweetness of the maple combined perfectly with the bacon, and I know why customers flock to Rose Donuts. The cooked dough is fluffy, fresh, and it was just so comforting in a foodie type way. Lastly, don't sleep on their Thrifty ice cream shakes. I ordered a strawberry cheesecake shake, which was creamy, delicious, and yummy. To experience Rose Donuts for myself, I now understand why my daughter raved about this donut shop. Not only are they a donut shop that needs to be tried for their donuts, they also need to visited for their sandwiches, shakes, and the quality customer service.

This mom and pop shop has the best donuts I've tried in San Diego, with the list including the renowned donut bar. The flavored donuts were so fragrant, especially the flavors of apple in the apple fritter and the blueberry in the blueberry cake donut. Each donut was so soft, fluffy, and moist. I had leftovers from my order which I ate the next day without reheating and the texture was still incredibly similar to the first day. Quality in both taste and texture were still intact. This can only speak to how amazingly well made these donuts are. My favorite of the bunch and an absolute must-get is the apple fritter.

If you need to grab something early in the morning, Rose Donuts comes thru because they are open from 04:30am-10pm. There's also a parking lot so parking is easy. Not a spot where you'd want to sit and eat, more like a grab and go. The breakfast sandwiches are huge. The donuts are really good too. The Vietnamese iced coffee was a little bit too sweet for my liking. Unfortunately, the economy got to them too because it's over $20 for a dozen donuts. They do take credit cards but add on a 50¢ fee.

10am on a Saturday. Visiting from LA area. Busy but very organized. Everyone friendly, even the other customers. Got my favorite: apple fritter. It's huge and has the crunchy edges (the best part in my opinion). Kiddo picked out a plain donut... before I got one bite into my donut, his was gone! Hahaha Hubby got a plain croissant and a sugar twist. Both good. Iced latte and iced mocha: good! Made to order. And can't ever complain about a drink made with good ice. A few tables inside to eat, clean... display case was probably the cleanest I've seen. We beat the rush (against 10:15am!!!) there was a line to the door when we were paying.

Really glad I stopped by Rose Donuts! There was definitely a line when I showed up around 9 AM, but it moved pretty quickly and was totally worth it. The Vietnamese coffee was good--strong and just the right amount of sweet. I loved that they had both small and large sizes for the apple fritter. I got the small one and it was crispy, soft, and super tasty. Also tried the croissant bacon egg sandwich and it was delicious--flaky, fresh, and hit the spot. Definitely a solid local donut shop!

I really thought that this place was gonna be great because of all the yelp reviews but absolutely not. The women there was rude and didn't make conversation. My $2.00 cinnamon roll left a lingering oily taste. I'm not a donut connoisseur by any means but I'm pretty sure this was the first donut I ever threw away. Sadly, I dont think they change their fryer enough. Too bad :( I needed to emotionally eat after a hard day at work. read more

'Twas a hard week and I really needed a friggin' donut...so I bought a dozen...for myself. It was $8.75, which I think is really cheap. Can't go too horribly wrong with a donut--as long as it's fried and covered in sugar, it's good. Got the chocolate, glazed, cinnamon crumb and some cake donuts. All very tasty, very moist, very fresh. Cash only. read more

This place you can't beat the price, quality, and service you get. Definitely better value than chain stores and they're cheaper. The only downfall is they only accept cash but there is an ATM in the store so no worries. Highly recommend coming here for the breakfast sandwiches as well especially on a croissant. read more

One of the best donut shops in town! Half dozen will run you a little over 5 bucks, and an extra 10 cents for specialty ones. Donuts taste fluffy and fresh! The place is busy in the AM's and there may be a short line at times. They also have a good coffee bar menu with prices lower than Starbucks. I had an iced Vietnamese coffee and a country bagel (egg, bacon, cheese). Both were good and are on the would order again list..and of course took home a half dozen of assorted fluffy and fresh donuts. Sidenote: Don't get this location confused with the other Rose Donuts on the same street (ya I know right). This is the location closest to USD across from the strip mall with Sushi Freak, Starbucks, etc. read more

I'm addicted to Rose Donuts. They serve me up my weekly hangover cure at such a low price. Breakfast sandwich, donut and drink (I opt for chocolate milk...) for 5 bucks. The breakfast sandwiches are unbelievable too. The staff is also amazing. On the weekends there are two smiley teenagers working the counter that genuinely seem happy to make all your donut dreams come true. Try this place out, you won't be disappointed (unless you don't bring cash bc they don't take card.) read more

They make the best buttermilk bars in town--bar none. I would bring in coffee from somewhere else though and they do run out so don't be too hopeful that your favorite will be there. Also the lady there (Rose?) can be a bit gruff but it's all worth it for those buttermilk bars. read more

What can I say? I have spent countless laundry quarters at Rose's donuts every morning before work. I'll do an extra hour of cardio just so I can savor their juicy Apple Fritters. I am obsessed with donuts and when I visited San Diego, I looked for a local place where I could try new flavors. Rose Donuts was amazing! There was a huge selection of donuts, everything from cake donuts, to yeast donuts, to donut holes. The red velvet one was so good. I also had a few other flavors (vanilla sprinkled, glazed, cream filled) and all very extremely good. It's a small place but there is a lot of variety. There's also a large menu of bagel and croissant breakfast sandwiches, as well as different baked good. If you're a fan of donuts, I would definitely recommend coming here. Tip-It's cash only so make sure you have cash on hand! read more

Since I hate Starbucks, I started looking for a coffee place near work and this place is right across the street. Rose Donuts is the perfect place to stop in for quick service with a smile. Their plain coffee is perfect and the price is right - $1.35 for a 16 ounce cup. Occasionally, I'll grab a donut or two - Boston creme is my favorite. They even have breakfast sandwiches if you're into that. So no trendy music, fluffy couches, or pretentious d-bags -- but hey, I just want a great cup of coffee! read more

I visited on a Tuesday around 11:30 am. Average donuts. Watched her pour coffee for me that was from the bottom of a carafe that looked like it has been sitting there for hours. When I told her that I wanted fresh coffee she actually asked me to taste the swill that she had poured first. I tasted it and was a big fat, "No thanks, I like coffee that's younger than I am." This was probably one of my worst experiences at a donut shop. I showed up around 10:30 on a Saturday night expecting a slim selection, and was not surprised. I specifically went to this location because the menu said they made French crullers. I asked the lady if they made French crullers and she said "No" under her breath, and I asked if they had them on the menu, she said "No, we haven't had them on our menu for 10 years". I debated buying one of the donuts they had, I ended up leaving with 3 different doughnuts. I could not believe they had such good reviews. Hopefully they update the menu. read more

Their staff is friendly and there seems to be a lot I regulars. The donuts are great. Breakfast sandwiches/bagels are alright. However, just be warned that the coffee is terrible. I would come back for some donuts. It's $8.85 for a dozen. read more

My daughter's favorite thing when she was younger was the strawberry milk on tap. I think it was the novelty of milk being on tap. It felt special for her as a kid. Now it looks like they've bottled it and put it in the refrigerated section near check out, for a quick and convenient beverage to go. There's still the small section for Donut Bar merch with all sorts of things to choose from and some outdoor seating for enjoying your sweet treats on a glorious San Diego day. The donuts came in a simple white box with a black and white sticker. There's a surprise within that sticker! The sticker says to scan the QR code to bring the image to life...so we did! It's a super cute warm welcome from Chef Santiago! Overall, it's still our go to donut place when visiting San Diego. The employees are friendly and welcoming, and the donuts are sweet and yeasty. I usually never have luck grabbing one at their donuts at the pop-ups, but it's good to know that they offer their pop-up comic con donuts at their main shop by Little Italy. Drove down Sunday morning to grab my hand on this year's batch. With Stitch, Batman, and Pokémon, this year's donuts were amazing. The donuts are $8, and you're basically paying for the design. They are pretty, but they don't hold much flavor other than looks; it's just a basic donut that looks really good. But I remember them tasting different from all angles, but I guess this year was different. Regardless, the donuts were really good and well worth the trip. Paid it with chocolate milk or coffee and wow just wow. I Can't wait for next year.

From the moment I set foot in this fine establishment, I be greeted by the smell of freshly baked pastries and the sight of colorful confections that would make even Blackbeard himself drool with envy. The crew behind the counter be as friendly as a parrot on me shoulder, always ready to serve up a hot cup of grog to wash down me delectable treats. I have been going to Rose donuts for 20 years now, actually 21 years now LOL. I can't say enough nice things about this place. The service is awesome, the price is incredibly reasonable and the donuts are delicious. They also make really good sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches and they have ice cream and pretty much everything. I love the old-school attitude there it's family-owned and whenever I get a chance to not give my money to the big corporations I don't and I try to spend it at local businesses like Rose donuts. Can't say enough good things about this place I love Connie she is my BFF for the last several years LOL and please support your local coffee shop. They make espresso and drip coffee and all kinds of cold drinks. I would not recommend their coffee though. It's not bad but it's not good enough for my tastes buds. The prices are great. You can have more calories than you have paid. They accept only accept cash. They have also combo meals. Combo meals are great. With this you can have croissants, sandwiches and donuts. It is good for a start. You can already taste lots of their food. However the donut selection wasn't anything support unique and made it just a good local donut shop, nothing that I'd feel I had to go out of my way to find again. They did have some good ice cream there as well. So even though the donuts weren't as great as I hoped the choices in items maybe makes up the difference for some people. Think I've found my new favorite donut/breakfast shop! I love coming here since it's just a short 10 minute walk from my place but we always come here right after a morning hike. This is the second time I go for a tuna sandwich and I get she's alone but both times I am told she can't because she is alone. The first time I thought ok I feel bad but the second time, she said she was making donuts and can't make sandwiches. These doughnuts are amazing! They are light, crispy, with a fully baked doughnut. You can tell the dough quality has been taken into consideration, and they are consistently baked well. Each doughnut is massive from the rising of the dough in the baking process. I have been here several times and I have never come across an undercooked, or greasy doughnut. The banana bread mocha tasted just like banana bread, which I love, but if you aren't too much into sweet coffee then you might not like it. I liked it so much that I came the next day with my husband and picked up a chocolate chip muffin and one of their famous cinnamon roll. Both were really good.

I appreciate the clean, bright, and organized upkeep of the front of the house. The display cases contain traditional donuts you would see nearly anywhere else. But what stands out are their freshness. Freshly baked at the back of the house, you can slightly see the backdoor baking from the fallen flour, commercial baking equipment, and such from the open doorway that leads to the kitchen. What I like most, however, is the customer service. It's welcoming, friendly, and appreciative of you for being there.
