It's places like Rose Palace that convey in me a passionate calling to learn Chinese. I come from a small town; and in that small town, lives the best Chinese food restaurant I have ever tasted in my 25 long years. . . You can only imagine the deep, cold, heartache I felt when moving to Sacramento in 2007 and spending the next 8 years, longing for such deliciousness to come across my pallet again. . . Well? I grew up in south sac and the best place for Chinese food was china palace. It is now gone and I moved to elk grove, I have tried so many places over the last decade and Rose Palace hands down was good, staff was friendly, prices are fair, portions are decent. read more

I honestly think that this place has the best service and food. I come here probably two to three times a month. Right when you come in through the door, you are greeted with a friendly smile and asked if its for dine in or take out. They also have delivery service. If your order is at least $20 and you live within three miles, it's FREE. Now, let me get started with the food. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS HOT and FRESH! Who doesn't love that? I usually come here for lunch so I order the orange chicken lunch combo. The portion of the food is big, and I admit its hard to finish the whole plate. Gave this place another shot instead of my usual Chinese spots and tried to order dinner to be delivered. So I ordered three dishes to be delivered for almost $25 worth of food, and they tell me I have to order almost $40 worth of food for them to deliver to me less than 4 miles away. I love this place. And guess what? I'm gonna tell you why! This place offers your standard Chinese cuisine, but there are a few reasons why I love this place. First of all, they have great service. I have ordered delivery from them many times (it's free if you live within 3 miles and order at least $20 worth). Each time they tell me it will be about 20 minutes and yet 5 minutes later they are knocking on my door. Swear to god. How is this possible? Did they happen to have my exact order sitting around somewhere under a heat lamp? Nope. My food was fresh and piping hot. The other major reason I love them has to do with the chicken. Whenever I try out a new Chinese food place, I am always wary of the chicken. There has been many times that I have been served a chicken dish that has been made from questionable parts. Lesson learned. So I was extremely pleased when I cut into my general Tso's chicken to find large tender pieces of white meat. It seems as though many Chinese places on yelp get judged by the quality of their honey walnut shrimp. Weird. However, they did not disappoint. Sweet and crunchy, just like it should be. Great family restaurant. The food have plenty of flavor and at a very reasonable price. I had the salt and pepper spear rib and it was very different from other Chinese restaurant. The rib is batter with plenty of spices. I really like their fried rice and chow mein. Over all every thing has a lot of flavor in it. The waitress their is really nice and Cute too. This place is the best!! I live in Folsom but would drive down there to get Chinese. I ordered delivery, they were there in 30 minutes and the food was so hot. I was expecting it to be a little warm so that was a bonus. Everything we ordered was amazing, cream cheese won-tons, walnut shrimp, chow mein, and sweet and sour pork. I live in the area and I go to Safeway all the time so I see Rose Palace but since I couldn't see through the windows (they have a mirror like tint) I realized it made me hesitant to go in.. But I finally had the time, the hunger, and the appetite for Chinese and to try a new place. So I went inside and they greeted me and gave me a menu. I quickly decided on the Wor Won Ton soup and it was one of the best WWT soup I've ever had! Shrimp, veggies, tasty broth, chicken, pork and lots of won tons and it was a huge portion and very hot! All for $7 n change. I've been there twice in the last week and a half and I know I will be back very soon. My husband and I stopped in for dinner. The service was fantastic. Our water glasses were kept full and the waiter/ owner was so friendly. He chatted with us a bit and knew several of the other customers by name. The place is small but clean, though it's well worn and the decor isn't anything to write home about. The food was good. Not the best I've had but not terrible either. The portions were incredible- we ordered the dinner special- $8.50 with lots of options. It came with egg flower soup (okay, lots of tofu, some chicken, and even tomatoes in it), chicken chow mein (good- lots of chicken, flavorful noodles), a deep fried prawn, a crab cream cheese wonton, and a pork based egg roll (meh), plus whatever item you ordered. I had the sweet and sour chicken- the sauce was fine but the chicken was moist and good quality meat. My husband had the orange pork and I really liked the sauce. I ordered dinner Sunday night since we didn't feel like driving and this place delivers. After reading some of the other reviews I decided to order the Orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, and chicken wings. I've also fined here before and I can say that the customer service is always good. The estimated time for delivery was 45 min to an hour, but it arrived much sooner. (Pleasantly surprised!) The food was good, the only reason I deducted a star was that the Orange chicken was a bit soggy. (I like it crispy.) I've also had the pineapple fried rice and that's pretty good too! So if you're feeling lazy and don't want to order in pizza again.. This is a nice substitute. They also take credit over the phone, just be sure to have your card and ID ready to verify upon pick up! Came back for my food so I decided to edit my review. Love their beef chow fun! Salt and pepper chicken was good. Egg drop soup is very basic with just egg and tofu. Is it true traditional Chinese food? Of course not! It's American! This is Elk Grove, not Chinatown. It gets five stars from me, though, because it is the best Chinese food I've ever had. I am lucky enough that this is also the closest Chinese food. It is a small little restaurant in a bit of a strip mall. My favorite is the Sweet and Sour Pork. We also love the Broccoli Beef or Shrimp, both are great. The Orange chicken and General Tso's Chicken are both fantastic. In fact, I've eaten here, or had delivery from here many times, and I have never had a meal that was in any way disappointing. As long as I live in this area, which should be a long time, this will be my go-to for Chinese food. read more

You might see his Honda Civic riding around this area of town Orders are usually handled efficiently, and pricing seems in line with Yen Ching who I also frequent. HOwever, After a couple bitter batches of Brocolli Beef from the latter, I was on the move and found this place. Their Wor Won Ton soup is brimming with meats and vegetables and dumplings, compared to Yen Ching's which was fairly boring and with little variety. House Spicy Chicken is good. I also love their foil chicken and pot stickers. This is a good bet for decent chinese delivery. Please tip the driver even if the delivery is free. I worked pizza's for a while and believe it or not the driver had a "little black book" guaranteed to give tight wads a cold pizza every time if delivered. Catch me drift mate?! Well when they first open for dinner they gave you chow mien,fried rice and your choice of meat and a little box of a cheese wonton a shrimp and eggroll but now they changed it to only chow mein for your dinner combo and the little box .only between lunch hours 11pm-3pm you get the fried rice nd chow mien and a cheese wonton. Ordered Kung Pao Chicken and chow mein. The kung pao dish tasted like pure soy sauce and garlic, the ingredients didn't seem to mesh well for my taste. The veggies in the dish were cooked to perfection. The chow mein is a total loss, way to bland for my taste. The noodles were not cooked to my preference; they were chewy. If you don't like your food on the spicier (not hot, meaning lots of flavors ie spices) I highly recommend this place. YUCK.....the food was greasy, bland and totally gross.......Ordered delivery of Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, Chicken Orange and Chicken Sweet and Sour. Rice was saturated with soy sauce, dry and loaded with cheap frozen vegetables. Chow Mein was made with fat greasy soy soaked tasteless noodles that looked like a wet mop. Orange Chicken and Sweet and Sour were both the same generic breaded frozen chicken fried with different sauces. Overall it was the absolute worst Chinese food we have ever tried. Immediately after sampling it the whole family got headaches (msg) and some were nauseous. I awoke the next morning with a vicious stuffy nose, sore throat and coughed up a giant brown green oatmeal hunk. The food was foul indeed. Delicious Chinese food. We have tried a lot of Chinese restaurants in the area and this is the one to go to. It's very modest inside, but you can tell by the numerous bags of to-go meals on the counter that this is where everyone orders. We ordered the lunch specials; one with Lemon Chicken, one with Orange Chicken and one with General Chicken - every last bit of it was gobbled up by my kids and I. It also came with a perfectly wrapped crab rangoon and your choice of fried rice, chow mein or steamed rice - we did a little bit of everything and it was all good. Last night we ordered food from this place & two of our dishes were horrible to the point it made me gag. We actually had great food before up until this point. We called to discuss the matter and one of the managers just did not take care of us. He refused to accept the fact the food just was not good . The two dishes seemed to not be freshly made. I order food to go from this place when we want Chinese but when we do not want to leave out. They lost a customer . More so because of poor customer service and we did not receive a reason to why the food was horrible (like maybe the regular cook was out ...) So I was skeptical about several claims herein about their Orange Chicken being the best. I ordered some and I have to admit, it's very, very good. Maybe the best I've ever had. I also ordered the Chicken Chow Fun. That was really good also. I'll order each of these again. A couple days later, I went back and tried their Chicken Chow Mein and General's Chicken. Honey walnut shrimp was fried prawns with no shrimp in them.. Its not supposed to be breaded shrimp and dry especially for $10.50. Chicken chow mein was saturated in garlic to kill the blandness of the noodles, I love garlic but this was way too much..
