Must Try when you go to Smorgasburg LA at Row DTLA on Sunday! My wife and I had the chopped cheese and it was very very delicious! The bread was perfect with a nice crust and soft on the bite. Meat was perfectly cooked and melted with the cheese. Tomatoes and lettuce were super fresh as well. My son is a picky eater and he loved it as well so that means a lot. Overall a 5 out of 5 sandwich. Service was amazing, attentive, and fast! Will come back definitely.

Hunger led us to Smorgasburg at ROW DTLA, and thank goodness it did! Our search for food led us straight to Royal Box, and WOW, were we impressed. We went all in with the cheesesteak, banh mi, and bulgogi fries, and each bite was better than the last. The food was so fresh, and the flavors were seriously next-level. This is a great reminder to venture outside your usual spots--you might just find your new favorite meal!

Amazing food! We had a bulgogi chopped cheese, tteokbokki, and a kimchi fried rice hot pocket. They were sooo good. Chopped cheese was our favorite. They give you a buzzer so you can walk around the rest of the market while you wait. We will for sure be back

Loved everything I tried! Tried The Royal Box at Smorgasburg LA and omg -- everything was sooo good! I got the cheesesteak, tteokbokki, and the hot pocket -- and I honestly loved all of them! The cheesesteak was my fave -- super juicy meat, soft & fresh bun, just super tasty overall. The tteokbokki were such a fun surprise! Crispy outside, soft inside, full of flavor, with delicious sauce & green onions on top -- I've never had tteokbokki like that before and I'm obsessed! The hot pocket was also amazing -- warm, cheesy, and just hit the spot. Everything was fresh, hot, and made with loveCan't wait to come back and try more! Highly recommend! 10/10

Royal Box is an absolute gem and the perfect new addition to Smorgasburg this year! Their ribeye banh mi is packed with flavor, the mini box itself is so fresh with seasonal banchans & made to order meat, and the bulgogi fries... they are truly to die for and a crowd favorite. So glad they joined the Smorgasburg lineup this year. this spot is definitely one to return to again and again :)

Bento Box, Bulgogi Fries

Royal Box is one of my favorite vendors at Smorgasbord. Amazing Korean fusion dishes with generous portions and consistent quality. Some standout items I've tried so far: Ribeye Bulgogi Banh Mi - This sandwich is fantastic. The bread is fresh-baked daily. To this day it's my favorite, it's so good. Bulgogi Chopped Cheese - Absolute fire. Ooey, gooey, cheesy--honestly gave me Big Mac vibes in the best way possible. It's made with their signature ribeye bulgogi, melted cheese, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, grilled onions, all on toasted baguette. The Royal Box - A beautifully assembled bento-style meal. My kids love it, and honestly, it's perfect for both kids and adults. Bulgogi Fries - A massive bed of crispy fries loaded with ribeye bulgogi, gooey cheese, green onions, and what I believe is a gochujang mayo drizzle. Its amazing. And the portions are insane! I also love that they're always switching things up. It feels like there's a new menu item every other week, and everything I've tried so far has been insanely delicious. Service is also on point--lines move fast, the food comes out hot, and everyone working the booth is super friendly.

Banh Mi

Everyone must try this Banh Mi. I am a big fan of Banh Mi sandwiches and tried quite a few places in LA but Royal Box really suprised me. The beef to vegetable ratio was spot on and had the perfect amount of seasoning. ALSO the bread was light, airy, with the perfect amount of crunch.DEFINITELY WILL BE GOING BACK!

I find the syrup rly good, a little nutty chocolatey, but some may find it too strong and bitter, possible burnt taste. I find it good, but bc it's a concentrated flavor I can see others not being a big fan. The sakura mochi is rly good! Very floral flavor and I liked it a lot, but the texture of the mochi was a bit off. I think it's bc I went around 8pm (an hour before they close) so the mochi was probably not as fresh as it could be, but that's on me. The location is shared with a boba tea place (yi fang) so if you wanted ice cream and boba as a late night treat, perfect opportunity!! That's why my sibling and I like to come here for a sweet treat variety and they have some nice seating around. It's also the arts district so it's nice to just walk around the area as well to chat with whoever ur with. I usually get street parking, but allegedly you can park in the the apt structure and get parking validation for 2 hrs (?)

Well...the experience turned out to be a big disappointment. I won't be returning. - The girl who served us, didn't make us feel welcome. She made us feel like we were more of a nuisance or bother rather than a valued customer. - The Matcha and Hokkaido Milk soft serves were mediocre at best. Go to Tea Masters for Matcha soft serve. Their Matcha soft serve is extremely better. The Hokkaido Milk soft serve had an artificial after taste. - Beware, their soft serve is a complete rip off. It's hollow on the inside.

The kitchen is a home kitchen with a house keeper washing the dishes by hand. It is a help yourself type of situation. BYOB and pour it yourself. There is a total of 16 seats per night. 6 of us in our reservation. They dim the place for the ambience. Food wise - Total of 7 courses - last 2 was the dessert. There is no printed menu, so you'll just have to ask what it is that you're eating and why the main course -steak- was served first. We were asked to keep the utensils through out the course as they do not change your silverware for every course. Cringe. I had such a high expectation with the food prior to dinner. It felt flat - Everything. The only thing that we like was the corn bread. The steak was tough - some us got super rare and some got overly done tough. Some flavor combination just didn't pair well. Something with a fish dish but sour like hell. Another dish was blue and it just did not look a dish coming out of a fine dining restaurant. Funny the people that were there was talking about Somni, Providence, Melisse.... It just did not even come close. It's like going to a friend's house who's practicing to be a fine dining chef. Pics of the food is posted in this review. None of them was impressive. It just did not go well together. When it came to the 7th course - it was a shaved ice. The Asian assitant cook brought them over and said it's Mandarin ice. So we asked, can you give us a little bit more description... his response was so rude that he said "it's ice with mandarin orange flavor". Oh ok - now you say mandarin oranges. But his condescending attitude is not appreciated. The night is ending and the Chef has not once come to the table to say Hi or introduced himself. People started to leave and he decided to speak to some remaining guests. Then he gets stuck with that particular guest for a long time until everyone is leaving. We probably just had like a Hi and Hello thank you for the food. He seems nice though. Then we all left. We clearly didn't even care anymore at that point. Bad food and bad experience. No parking. Good luck finding a parking on the streets on fountain and Vermont with all the homeless around. It's a hype. It's mysterious because it's really not listed as a restaurant. Not for everyone.

My review is based on the food truck. It was my son's birthday. He was allowed to chose anything he wanted for dinner. Any price point... anything. Well i had seen this on Instagram and shared it with him two weeks prior. At first he wanted to go to Nobu or there were a few other high end options, but that is not his style honestly. Luckily, he remembered the post that I shared. He wanted to go here. Well, buckle up kids, we are going on a field trip! We left work/schools early and took a drive to Compton. When our navigation said we had arrived it suggested we park in the lot across from the library. Ok. There directly in front of the library was the food truck. There was a small line, so that was ideal. Not a long wait. My other smaller human and i went to wash their hands in the library. When i came out he had ordered the hungry man or something. It was more than enough for us. The oxtail was good. The ribs were good. The chicken was good. The cornbread was yummy. Just not over the moon for the greens... and i loooove collard greens. But that's ok. We went for the meats. They were out of the dinosaur ribs, so maybe if we go early enough next time, we can try those. We took it across the street to the park and ate and that was enough time for the small one to also play to get energy out before we headed home. The drive home was long, now that rush hour traffic had started. But none of us complained, because the meal was worth it.

The reason why I'm giving it a 3 out of 5 is because of a bad experience today with the door person. We came in today, July 19th around the afternoon, about 3-4 PM. I understand their bag policy, it sucks but what can you do. We were very compliant with the doorman, but he seemed to have an attitude. Listen man, I get that it's hot and you may be having a day, but that doesn't mean you get to be rude. We went in, and immediately he needed to take our bags. We complied cause it's policy, and I politely told him "oh I have a small bag!" As in to tell him we have another bag to give him. He took it the wrong way and said "trust me I don't want to take it more than you do" under his breath. Buddy, I can hear you. I didn't even say it in a rude way, I'm just informing you that there was another bag. Whatever, we handed all our bags over, one of which was a bag carrying some merchandise (mainly some posters we purchased from another event we came from) mind you, there was 4 posters from a limited time event in there, worth $65. He asked "what's in the bag" all judgmental, like buddy, I get you need to know so you know where to place it on the shelf, but there is such a thing as asking in a nicer way like "is there anything delicate in here" or such. I told him it was some posters I had got. So. TELL ME WHY THIS GUY PUT THE BAG WITH THE POSTERS LAYING FLAT DOWN FIRST AND THEN PROCEEDED TO PUT OUR HEAVY BACKPACK AND OUR SMALLER BAG ON TOP OF IT. BUDDY. YOU ARE USING A METAL RACK SHELF, AND PUTTING HEAVY ITEMS ON TOP OF PAPER. SOME OF IT WAS EVEN ON THE EDGE SO YOU'RE ACTIVELY CREASING AND BENDING MY BELONGINGS. Anyone should know if you have anything fragile like posters, you would put it on top of the other bags so they do not get folded or creased or get and indents. I quickly told him if he can put the bag with the posters on top because I don't want them to get creased or bent. He doesn't say anything and just quickly does it, but he made a face. Buddy, if you don't like your job or can't do it well enough to know common sense like not putting delicates under heavy items, quit and go find something else, and leave your attitude at the OUTSIDE the door. I went home after this, and saw that all of four of my posters were creased in the same spot, coincidentally the same spot that was bent over the edge of the shelf. I don't care if they're posters and they can be replaced, not everyone has the luxury to replace broke items, especially not limited ones, I spent my hard earned money on it for it to be permanently ruined by some boy who doesn't care about other people's belongings despite being entrusted to handle them. Anyways, come for the merch! But maybe leave your valuables someplace where you know they'll be safe from damage.

But yeah it was the corn beef has we were looking for mixed with the good 'ol garlic rice and sunny side up egg. The vinegar they used was a lot stronger than I thought and I think they could do without it. The tonic espresso grew on me, upon first sip, I could taste the tonic and I haven't had tonic before so I wasn't feeling it. Until I mixed it and it got a lot better. What was really cute too, is they have pop up vendors and it was a bread and dessert vendor that are right across the counter. What caught my eye was this apron that was a collaboration between Garden and Seeds x Lasita. It had so many pockets and it went from a short apron to a long one with just a zipper.
