I've been getting my cakes here for about 4 years and they're good. I think a always get white cake with strawberry filling lol. This time I got a small cake for my sons 1st bday and when my husband put it up to my baby's face to smash it in his face he saw a piece of paper. And when I saw it it was a Ruby's paper. Never has a business been to rude to me, truly in shock. Paid a lot of money for a cake and was very clear with the colors as it was for a color-coordinated photoshoot for my birthday. Not only did I email the exact colors to be clear, but I also photoshopped them exactly as I wanted so there was no mistakes. The red I asked for ended up being hot pink and not matching my outfit and setup for the photos at all. When I called the bakery to see if there was anything they could do to make it right, the lady yelled at me (on my birthday) and told me it was my fault, despite me being very clear about the colors. I was taken aback by how hostile they were for their mistake and unwilling to do anything to make it right. Truly awful experience and almost made me cry on my special day. Strawberry Cake Taste Test. Being a fan for decades of both the Pheonix & Ruby bakeries, I decided to do a side by side taste test with slices of Strawberry Cake. Much to my surprise and delight, the $2.25 slice of Ruby's Bakery Cake WON over the $5.75 a slice Phoenix Cake. The Ruby's cake was light and fluffy compared to the Phoenix cake that was slightly grainy in texture. The strawberries in Ruby's cake were just fresh sliced halves of strawberries, the Phoenix cake strawberries seemed to be macerated and in smaller slices. The whipped cream frosting was similar and non-distinguishable in taste from slice to slice, the only difference was Phoenix cake had the sliced almonds on the back side ... but $3.50 cent's worth of almonds... I don't think so. Over all value, quality and freshness, Ruby's Bakery gets the WIN! read more

Strawberry cake is one of my favorites, so after searching via Yelp, we found Ruby Bakery. We had ordered a cake stand and decided to just order a small circular 7" white frosted cake for display with a 3/4 sheet in the back for us to serve to everyone. We had about 140 people at the wedding and there was plenty of cake leftover. It came out perfect, 7" cake on the cake stand was decorated with flowers that we purchased from the flower district and it worked out great. It was our friend's 19th birthday and before our schools heartfelt tradition of dunking the lucky birthday person in to the majestic water fountain at the front, we had to make sure we got her the perfect cake. We had no choice but to leave it to the only person who could bear the responsibility of choosing such a delicacy. After our celebration, we dug into the cake. The strawberry topping laid upon the top like neatly fitted pillows. The frosted lettering matched the vibe meticulously. One wouldn't even know that a baker drew it on. Such creation would've been on par with Da Vinci's Mona Lisa. But the impeccable appearance of this wondrous cake cannot compare to its awe inspiring taste. The light, not-too-sweet chiffon-style layers of cake exploded perfectly in our mouths in combination with the crunch of the chocolate crisps, the juicy lusciousness of the fresh strawberries, and the fluffy, positively heaven cream between each layer. I've bought from Ruby's bakery three times and every time it's been great!! I always get their fresh strawberry cake, and it's always been delicious. I get the vanilla cake, and it's light, fluffy, and delicious. The frosting is very similar taste and texture wise to whipped cream, and is sweet, fluffy, and soft. The strawberries are fresh, and they add a good amount of them both inside and on top of the cake. They also make cute roses as a topper to go with the strawberries. I'm not sure if I had to, but I ordered via phone 2 days in advance, and just gave a time for pickup. They were very helpful with helping me decide what size cake to get. You can also choose if you want almonds or sprinkles on the outside. I got an 8 inch strawberry cake for $30. The only thing is that they only accept cash, but that was totally fine by me.
